Megyn Kelly Delivers Devastating Verbal Barrage on Unprepared Liberal Pundit

Megyn Kelly takes down liberal pundit Kirsten Powers in a heated debate over the Department of Justice's mishandling of the New Black Panther Party voter intimidation case.

Note how at the beginning of the interview, Powers says, "The guy wasn't really intimidating people" by the end she is saying "I didn't say it wasn't intimidation, don't put words in my mouth". Finally, she resorts to the "Blame Bush" argument.

Right now, we have some people among the Republicans who are demanding a Party Line,
as if we were a Marxist party where there is no room for disagreement.
I didn't realize the Republican party was now modeling itself on a Communist
dictatorship where dissent is not allowed

mtv22   July 13th, 2010 - 11:48 am

Kirsten Powers is a tool. Megan Kelly wiped the floor with her. She almost made her cry. I don't recall any allegations of voter intimidation during the Bush years. I didn't say it wasn't voter intimidation even though I did say it earlier. Nice touch, Powers. Like we used to say on the playground after a beatdown…"she ate her lunch."

JacelyaJones   July 13th, 2010 - 6:51 pm

Amazing exchange. Ms. Kelly was actually vibrating with anger. And she peeled away Ms. Powers' veneer of reasonable thoughtfulness. If I'm not mistaken, she nearly accused Ms. Kelly of race-baiting. She was caught in-front-of the Kelly train without any good answers to hard questions. Ms. Kelly was right: Ms. Powers does not watch America Live, apparently.

1Ladyliberty   July 13th, 2010 - 11:52 am

Megyn is awesome ! Like Rush says you can't debate libs!

Chuck1010   July 13th, 2010 - 6:52 pm

raaawwww……It seems when they get in a corner Blame Bush.

patriot5257   July 13th, 2010 - 6:53 pm

Kristen is just another angry liberal that can't even explain her own stupid behavior by not reading the injunction but would rather claim the facts because "she" talked to the DOJ and they told her the "truth". Kristen, go get back under Gibbs podium and satisfy yourself!!!!

SunshineConnie   July 13th, 2010 - 6:55 pm

Kirsten Powers gives blondes a bad name! What an airhead!

kmichaels   July 13th, 2010 - 6:55 pm

You are delusional.

MaxineCA   July 13th, 2010 - 6:56 pm

Megyn did a great job and clearly pointed out that Kirsten didn't have a clue about the facts. Kirsten never has a factual point of view. She seems to always end her side of the the debate with the "blame Bush" blah, blah, blah. I wish Fox would stop having her on any panels.

ucullen   July 13th, 2010 - 6:57 pm

Kirsten Powers = racist

DontTreadOnMe   July 13th, 2010 - 11:57 am

The simple test is: imagine it was a white guy with Klan robes on, saying things to blacks like "y'all are about to git ruled by the white man". How would people feel about it? Change the colors, and suddenly it's OK? I don't think so. That's racism to think it's OK for a certain group to do it because they have a particular skin shade/nationality/ancestry. And it's just plain moral cowardice to try and insist it didn't happen.

skipper99   July 13th, 2010 - 11:57 am

One has to wonder? Are all these liberal idiots some form of genetic mutations? OR are they some manifestation of a lot of under oxygenated brain cells.

Todalion   July 13th, 2010 - 6:58 pm

I see what you are saying. However, we are allowed to have disagreement within ourselves, but our basic fundamentals must remain intact.

Kirsten powers at 0:28, "the guy was not really intimidating people."

Kirsten powers towards end of video … "I never said this guy was not intimidating people."

Liberals have a hard time keeping track of their many lies.

Perfect reasoning, DontTreadOnMe. I vision a commercial with the Klan uniform hanging against a black background with the word,"Then" in blood red and a white background with a NBP uniform with the blood red word, "NOW. No music, no sound as the same scene but the words are changed to "history" and "current events" under the appropriate uninforms. And then a website address directing to only the videos of the NBP; no opinions, no comments, just videos. Oh heck, may as well add a video scrolling down the WH guest list with NBP names highlighted.

dennisl59   July 13th, 2010 - 7:09 pm

I nominate Megyn Kelly to interview the Apostate Muslim Dictator Hussein for the obvious reasons:

She takes no crap, bald-faced lies, disinformation, doubletalk, non-answers, deflections, distortions, lies by omission and pre-programmed group-think talking points from anyone.

He wouldn't stand a chance. And she'd expose him as the Greatest Political Fraud in American History.

In my opinion.

jpsaid   July 13th, 2010 - 12:09 pm

My, I might have to say ,this was amazing to watch. Liberals just don't see any problem with nightsticks. Just two guys hanging out? Powers, are you kidding, or you really that dumb? Or are you just trying to get back on Fox?

breto33   July 13th, 2010 - 7:10 pm

Father Campbell   July 13th, 2010 - 7:16 pm

Powers morphs into a typical Marxist talking point of "haters, why are you a hater?". Yep, it's in the Progressive manuals from the early 1900's and it looks like those manuals are the only thing Powers has ever read. There wasn't any voter intimidation during the Bush years. I think Breitbart needs to offer another $100K for someone to bring forward proof of voter intimidation during the Bush years.

AmericanParch   July 13th, 2010 - 7:16 pm

When she battled the Leader of the New Black Panthers, she was great. (source: http://www.americanparchment.com/library/doj_new_... ) He was shown for the racist he was. He needs to learn that we don't put up with this crap. It is because of his group that our black brothers are so called oppressed. they are telling our brothers and sisters they can't do anything because of the white man but everyone controls their own futures.

This from someone supporting the Democrat Party, who just passed an enormous, unpopular, and expensive act related to health care, without allowing anyone sufficient time to read the entire bill, telling us we "had to pass the bill to find out what is in the bill". And this was done through parliamentary maneuvering, and WITHOUT A SINGLE REPUBLICAN VOTE IN EITHER HOUSE OF CONGRESS. Not one.

I am not a Republican, and I have my own issues with the GOP. But yours is the most patently absurd post I've seen in a good while.

Look out Bill O'Rielly, Fox has a new superstar. Megan Kelly is doin some serious smack down on Powers. She owned that girl.It was embarrassing how unprepared Powers was. And then when getting the hell kicked out of her she uses the fall back lefty response that it was George Bush's fault. These lefty's really need to find a new line when they are getting schooled.

DontTreadOnMe   July 13th, 2010 - 7:28 pm

Kevin Stowell   July 13th, 2010 - 12:29 pm

"she nearly accused Ms. Kelly of race-baiting." That's all these morons have left. They've gotten an awful lot of political mileage and advantage from that silliness and for a long time. I'm amazed at how stunned the little Lefty bimboes are when someone actually confronts them over their stupidity–pretty evident they are so securely insulated in their ProgTard cocoons that it really does seem just plain inconceivable to them that someone would do that. Nice to see the 'tards on the defensive for a change.

amanuensis   July 13th, 2010 - 12:30 pm

The expression "unprepared liberal pundit" is what is called a "tautology" – a self-evident, and in this case obvious truth.
There is no such thing as a prepared liberal pundit. They cannot think. Then can only feel. They cannot reason, they can only react.
Their response is always an ad hominem attack. When they don't like the truth, they kill the messenger bearing the truth.

This one looks glazed over like a deer caught in those proverbial headlights. Perhaps her meds were running low? She can't even do a one word crossword puzzle with the first word filled in.

Will_Antonin   July 13th, 2010 - 7:51 pm

On Special Report with Bret Baier, Kirsten Powers frequently offers some decent analysis from the Left, providing some useful ideological contrast to the predominantly conservative panel. I'm not a huge fan of hers but appreciate her generally thoughtful engagement with issues.

This clip, however, was not one of them. Megyn Kelly rightfully corrected her and thoroughly dismantled her weak argument. Rather than triumph in some sort of ah-ah, gotcha moment, though, I hope this becomes (as the Left so often likes to say) a "teachable moment".

You can't live in a bubble of any one media universe and expect to debate the other side convincingly. Powers clearly had talking points with a Leftist slant but simply didn't know the facts of the case.

Good job, Megyn. Abuse of power matters.

Most of Media Matters allegations about past Bush DOJ voter intimidation seems to center around this guy Roy Warden. A guy who has apparently been ARRESted many times. Here's one of the stories on him:
http://waronracism.blogspot.com/2007/04/white-sup...

By Alexis Huicochea
Arizona Daily star
Tucson, Arizona | Published: 04.01.2007

Anti-illegal-immigration activist Roy Warden was arrested Saturday morning after police say he threatened passers-by during a demonstration Downtown Monday afternoon.

Warden, 59, was booked into the Pima County jail on suspicion of three counts of disorderly conduct, one count of threatening or intimidating and one count of unlawful assembly, said Officer Frank Amado, a Tucson Police Department spokesman.

According to Amado, for the last three Mondays, Warden has been demonstrating in the plaza in front of the Joel D. Valdez Main Library, 101 N. Stone Ave., at lunchtime, which caused numerous complaints.

On the third Monday — March 26 — Warden "engaged in prolonged disruptive behavior to include threats towards bystanders in the area," Amado wrote in a news release.

Tucson police were contacted at that time but did not arrest Warden until after they collected evidence and witness statements to present to the city prosecutor, Amado said.

The city prosecutor advised police they had enough evidence to make an arrest. On Saturday about 10:30 a.m., an officer working in the area of Roger and Flowing Wells saw Warden and took him into custody without incident.

He remained at the jail Saturday afternoon in lieu of $1,285 bond.

In January, Warden was sentenced to three years of unsupervised probation for an incident outside the Mexican Consulate last June in which he pushed one person and made threats to two others.

He was convicted of one count of assault and two counts of threats and intimidation.

At the time of the sentencing, Warden was told he was not allowed to possess a firearm or go within 500 feet of any public demonstration during his probation.

Last year, Warden was acquitted of other charges stemming from another altercation over immigration issues.

He was arrested after he burned a Mexican flag at Armory Park in April while surrounded by hundreds of people who marched to protest immigration legislation they said was unfair.

Wasilla_Grizzly   July 13th, 2010 - 8:04 pm

Just a little humor, jesus you guys are stiff.

And Powers was right, the case was handled by the Bush team who chose not to persue the case against the panther leadership while the one guy who scared off the thousands of Republican voters with his twig was banned from polling places for years.

bob1004   July 13th, 2010 - 8:06 pm

it would be nice to see more fox reporters as agresive as kelly maybe some of the guys could reach down and grab some. I still love the libs and there bush did it so we can mentalaty, Come on already bush's doj made sure they distance them selves from the white house obama's visits daily to get their little treat, pat on the back and ask for guidence on how they should do their jobs. the doj should be seperate from the white house and prosecute everyone that violates the laws and not come after states that reinforce laws.

Wasilla_Grizzly   July 13th, 2010 - 8:07 pm

the difference is that the Klan member would be digesting his teeth on the way to the hospital to re attach his limbs, whereas the black panther member with the twig apparently scared off millions of GOP voters successfully without incident.

deprived5650   July 13th, 2010 - 8:09 pm

Wasilla_Grizzly   July 13th, 2010 - 8:09 pm

I agree kmichaels, the guy succesfully scared off thousands of potential GOP votes. I think he is still intimidating most of the Republican party merely in video form. Lots of mommies beds are getting slept under tonight.

DarthShatner   July 13th, 2010 - 8:14 pm

ahhh… making light of voter intimidation.

Mick553   July 13th, 2010 - 8:15 pm

I like both these ladies, but it is a shame that Kirstyn has to, just like most liberals who can't win an arguments with facts, resort to again to blaming Bush. As usual, facts cannot support their arguments because they are spinning the truth. Nice job Megyn.

IncompleteLife   July 13th, 2010 - 8:18 pm

Motely, that's a very creative and effective commercial you've dreamed up. Why don't you offer it to the RNC or somebody who could actually make the video and air it, and EDUCATE AMERICA about the Truth of what's going on (for those who still do not SEE IT), while earning yourself some nice bucks in the process? Somebody should pay Big Bucks for that concept. (Better hurry up and copyright it or actually sell it, before someone simply steals it and uses it… you know how it is nowadays with "intellectual property rights"–especially online… LOL.)
