and lawfully empowered peace officers, AND they were actually in the stages of planning and preparation to do exactly that, THEN by all means, let the allegations stand and let them be prosecuted to the full extent of the law.

Hmm, I’m a little conflicted here. While the police should act on a tip of something imminent, imagine what a battered wife with a personal protection order must have thought watching all this unfold. She gets told by the same cops that the “verbal threats” he makes cannot be acted on until he actually does something, many times ending up in a badly injured or dead woman. In the case of a verbal threat against officers which had yet to be acted out, all hell was unleashed on the threat makers, hmmmm, just saying. Also, in the very same state of Michigan, a woman was beaten and raped by a thug, a week later he returned, raped and beat her to death the second time. In a recorded phone conversation, the assistant DA told the victim’s daughter that since he had been since convicted of two other murders in the time being that “we need to think of the taxpayers going to another trial for someone already in jail”, as if he’ll never get out in liberal Michiganistan. I wonder how much taxpayer money was spent on the raids last night to get 9 people who made verbal threats.

I don’t see anyone defending them. Most people like me are just noticing some interesting hypocrisies and inconsistencies here.

I’m not defending them, if the charges are true and thus a real, imminent threat, they should be put away for a long, long time. Right now the circumstances just seem fishy. Not to mention that the accused are described as an extreme Christian (“rightwing”) militia who were plotting to kill law officers and then attack the funeral procession, must seem like a trifle dessert for the MSM. The MSM really should be thinking “if it’s too good to be true…”

I am looking forward to seeing the evidence against these men. So far, we see the exercise of religion, and the exercise of their right to own, carry and train themselves in the use of military weapons – both of which are basic civil rights. And we also hear the yet unproven claim that they intended to START a war with the Feds by conspiring to shoot law enforcement officers. That seems very highly suspicious and counterintuitive to me, on the order of a Ruby Ridge, Waco, and Olofson kind of suspicion. I am intrigued…

White male here. I have no desire to shoot you, a cop, or anyone else. It’s definitely a last resort proposition in my world. I totally disagree that guns are only for people who are scared of real confrontation. I carry a concealed handgun at all times and places in which the law does not preclude me from doing so. I do so because there are instances where a firearm is the only way to survive an attack, or to defend innocent life. The police cannot be everywhere, and they are not legally responsible for your individual safety. So, if you are inclined to defend yourself, your loved ones, the innocent, and the rights that we are all guaranteed under our Constitution, then I would encourage you to consider learnign the facts about firearms. You just might change your opinion of firearms and the people who carry them. Learn to shoot safely. Learn when to shoot and when not to shoot. Join me in exercising and preserving our right to own and carry firearms. In the right hands, they save lives.

Also, you bring up a good point. I think something was lost from our society when men could no longer defend their honor and settle their differences with their fists, or in a duel, without severe consequences from Big Brother. I am not convinced that it was totally a change for the better. I am not at all convinced that ours is a more polite and respectful society than it was in the days of the so-called Wild West. The posts in this very forum can attest to that.

I just reread the post here and I’m not sure why you would want to shoot anyone posting here, unless it’s because they disagree with your politics and maybe our president, and if you think that’s a legitimate reason to shoot someone, you are one scary individual. well I am a scary individual but only when provoked…and i wouldn’t be surprised at how many law abiding minorities own guns because i have a family full of them…only reason i haven’t owned a gun is because i know myself and my temperament and I would’ve used it by now so i chose to be responsible because its easy to take a life but hard to live with the consequences…..but with all the teaparty rhetoric i’m going to finally purchase a taurus and a cheap ak-47 because enough is enough…people keep asking for stuff they eventually get it…and i’m not making threats i’m making promises…and there is a difference between politics and hate and breitbart is always full of hate….so like the militias always stress there is nothing wrong with being prepared…but i still prefer and old school dance to anything else

Question: (not being military myself) For you who are trained in military ways-are you as impressed with what you see on this video as the reporters were? Also, it’s interesting that another militia organization didn’t want anything to do with them. What do you think. Don’t answer if you don’t have military training.

If they were indeed going to target the police or anyone else with violence, then they deserve what they get.

With that being said, this whole story seems a little fishy. Is this the start of a new assault on the 2nd amendment or an attempt to discredit people on the right as being crazy? I could easily see this as being fabricated. I’m not saying for sure that it is, but I wouldn’t put it past our federal government to make something like this up to scare the public.
