AFP: She has a manga-inspired human face but a silver metallic body. "If we had made the robot too similar to a real human, it would have been uncanny."

Domo Arigato Mr. Roboto   March 16th, 2009 - 11:24 am

Can she cook?

el zeee   March 16th, 2009 - 11:46 am

Still needs much work on the “model” walk we’re all familiar with on the catwalk. Can the robot walk in high heels? Back to the drawing boards.

Puregolf   March 16th, 2009 - 12:42 pm

All she needs is more manga in the right places and she can be a “replicant”

Tooch   March 16th, 2009 - 12:43 pm

She is still is “Uncanny!” Put skin on her, it won’t make much of a difference in her uncannyness.
She can’t walk in high heels and her arms at rest position is awkward looking. Still, shes remarkable!

Other   March 16th, 2009 - 12:56 pm

Does she love alien tentacle rape?

joe rot   March 16th, 2009 - 1:01 pm

Not exactly Cherry 2000.

BB   March 16th, 2009 - 1:06 pm

What is the entertainment value of a prepubescent robot? The last one unveiled looked underage as well. The funny thing is, no one (male perhaps?) commented on this curious feature.

can she be programmed to be very very naughty? yummy!!!

TugboatPhil   March 16th, 2009 - 2:31 pm

How soon will we see a headline about an embarrassing ER visit involving a ‘Girlie-Faced Humanoid’?

Steve Brandanno   March 16th, 2009 - 3:18 pm

I’d hit it! 2 Times!

Theron   March 16th, 2009 - 3:29 pm

I agree with BB… what’s with the 10-year-old look?
Anyway, I think it’s ugly and a waste of money and plastic… like most of our surgically mutilated movie stars. Why don’t they make prosthetic limbs, or something else that might be at least marginally useful?

AGCboy   March 16th, 2009 - 3:31 pm

I have two points:

1.) I said when the Sedgeway came out that artificial bipedal motion was soon to follow. This is excellent!

2.) When will Hookerbot 9000 be in production?

Gregus Scottus   March 16th, 2009 - 3:38 pm

A cure for the Asian over-population problem?

At least it will take some pressure off all the pubescent sex workers over there when model 2.0 comes out…

Charles   March 16th, 2009 - 3:39 pm

That is really incredible. The advancements in robotics is awesome. Really kinda freaky though whatching that video.

Rick   March 16th, 2009 - 3:42 pm

Hmm. She looks nervous…and she’s a little thick in the waistline. :)

Theron: You seem intelligent enough. Can’t you critically think beyond the novelty of a “catwalking” robot and see the real value its designers injected into this project? It’s leaps in engineering such as this example that will enable better functioning and looking prosthetic limbs. Jeesh…

Anti-Socialist   March 16th, 2009 - 5:23 pm

Domo Arigato, Mrs. Roboto !!!

marco   March 16th, 2009 - 5:43 pm

This technology is absolutely amazing. Humans today are still living in the ’stone age’ when it comes to technology. Think about what humans have achieved, invented and created in the last 100 years…. I wish I could live another 200 years….. To ‘Theron’, don’t worry, in future the whole body of stupid people like you will be replaced by robots….

Robot supermodelo de pasarela de moda   March 16th, 2009 - 6:54 pm

Dubious   March 16th, 2009 - 9:13 pm

To be honest – this clip looks like CGI to me… Not that the robot is doing anything so spectacular that they’d have to fake it, but why the bare walls, floor, & clock? Why no people, as in that video of “Flame” walking?

thinkaboutit   March 17th, 2009 - 6:56 am

Uncanny all right…
I, too, sound like a bucket of bolts first thing in the morning.

Paul   March 17th, 2009 - 3:07 pm

I’d hit that.

And you don't even have to buy her a drink!   March 17th, 2009 - 4:50 pm

Can she say, “I love you, GI…no s**t”?

Bill   May 21st, 2009 - 5:28 am

I think people want to see the runway models otherwise they would have put wheels on a mannikin a long time ago.I bet shes a weapon or a sex toy or both if she can explode or has super robot strength.

Steve   August 27th, 2009 - 11:19 am

some of you sound like pedophiles here. can’t believe you were so easily outed– maybe the unintended consequence of this kid-bot.

Toads   August 27th, 2009 - 9:13 pm

She does not look like a child. Many Asian women have faces like that even at age 25. That is why white women are so jealous of Asian women.

If Asian women draw the envy of white women by taking away white men, think how much 35 year old white cougar women will HATE female robots that look like Asians (and blonde Nords, for that matter).

Ah yes…. the imbalance that misandry (aka. 2nd wave feminism) has created will be corrected back. Sharply.

Toads   August 27th, 2009 - 9:19 pm

Theron squeaked :

Why don’t they make prosthetic limbs, or something else that might be at least marginally useful?

Now we know why you are not in a marketing career.

A female sexbot (which will have choices of Asian AND white raced models) has a HUGE market demand. I’m talking about revenue that exceeds the PC industry. Or even the car industry.

The people who invent one that really looks and feels real (which has not happened yet )
1) Will become billionaires
2) Will relieve men the world over from the subjugationn that feminism and misandry have inflicted upon them.

Average looking women will not have any men left to date them, and even hot women will have to come down several notches in their expectations.

I don’t expect female readers here to agree, but since when have women known anything about technological change? Or about male psychology, for that matter?

Jon   August 28th, 2009 - 1:45 am

She probably drives better than any Asian woman too.
