Why is it OK for Israel to have the bomb and not Iran? If you don’t want the Iranians or anyone else to pursue a nuclear bomb then you should demand that the Israelis destroy their nuclear warheads and agree to inspections so that they can’t make any more. Anything else is hypocrisy.

Answer: Israel hasn’t threatened to wipe out Iran, and hasn’t wiped it out yet, even though it could. It’s like asking “why is it o.k. for a law abiding citizen to have a driver’s license, but not o.k. for a 13 year old kid who is in jail for grand theft auto, drunk driving, and attempted murder?” uh duh… because bad people can’t be trusted with big things that can kill people, especially when they’ve threatened to do it. Not saying Israel is always in the right, BUT they are not religious fanatics hoping to usher in the last imam through the obliteration of an entire people group… just sayin’

@Just wondering. In all likely hood the French government, not the United States, helped Israel develop its nuclear program. Since Israel will not admit to having any nuclear weapons we can only speculate. But, in the early 60s the French government helped Israel set up its nuclear reactor, with the intention of power generating. It would not be far fetched to conceive deriving weapons grade material once any country has a nuclear reactor….

You are probably correct. But the fact remains that the Israelis developed nukes and we did nothing. Now it seems a little hypocritical to be going after the Iranians for doing the same thing.

And ChuckyCheese, the majority of the Iranians are young and pretty progressive. I am not sure that dropping a nuke on them is the right way to influence events in the Middle East. Even traditional enemies of Iran like Saudi Arabia would be outraged. The entire Arab and Muslim world would be enflamed and our troops in the area would be at increase risk. I am not sure that this is such a hot idea. So, in answer to your question, it would not be in Israel’s interest to wipe out anyone.

Just wondering, you are right about young Iranians, however, their government (as evidenced by the last election) doesn’t share or respect those ideals, but instead oppresses them. There were also Germans that opposed Hitler, but we still went to war with Germany. The benefit of war to Iran’s leadership is chiefly religious in nature (a strong motivator), and the benefit for Israel is survival (better to be alive and take a chance with a Mid-East that ALREADY hates you, then dead). You can’t “influence events in the Middle East” when you’re flesh is burning off the bone and your people are no more, so I think preventing that from happening is priority number 1. However, the difference is that I don’t think Israel would nuke/ “wipe out” Iran. They would strategically target the sites in question, and not the entire population. So the subsequent PR in the Mid-East might not be as bad as you think, and given that half of the Middle-East already hates Israel, it would not be much of a loss, regardless. If others make war with Israel merely for protecting itself, then that’s their own fault, and they will also have to accept any consequences that come their way from Israel and her allies. The only “threat” Israel has made is to protect itself from annihilation, which I think is reasonable gripe.

I agree that Israel has the right to protect itself. But, given that the Iranians have dispersed their nuclear sites over a wide area, it seems that a general nuclear attack is the only way to be sure of complete success. I would prefer a more surgical approach. Perhaps a specially trained team that could take out Ahmadinejad and the top mullahs at the same time would be more effective. That way it can be blamed on the internal Iranian politics, serve the same purpose, and not have excessive collateral damage.

Israel is a democratic country with freedoms no other country in the Middle East has. They shoudl be permitted to have nuclear weapons for self defense. Israel has been threatned over and over again and it is in the best interest of the world that Israel and the USA act to stop iran from goign nuclear. yes, the world will hurt afterwards. It’s about time we got a little more concerned about what the world would be like with Iran as a nuclear power. While innocent people might lose their lives in an Israeli/USA attack….there could be millions of lives lost in Israel, Europe, and Irans neighboring countries. I think it’s tiem to look at the big picture.

If a group of people camped in your backyard and then started taking over everything and claimed it was there right? Would you have the right to self defense ? The majority of israelis are Khazar not judean. It is a nation that basically showed up one day and took whatever they wanted. Israel is proof of a lawless world. Every nation should have nukes. It would stop war. In my opinion israel is the worst of nations,but the world that tolerates it is just as bad. There are no courts on earth that can be trusted,its all lies and might makes right. Money and force is the only thing respected. I anxiously await what is coming in the hopes that everyone dies. You know what kind of people you are and to say you don’t is a lie.

@Just wondering, There is one major difference between Israel and Iran having nuclear weapons. Israel never wanted to obliterate an entire religion from the planet….let alone an entire nation….
