My sister and I are both Vets who use the VA. Last summer my sister was told that her yearly VA breast exam showed cancer. It took 4 months to get to the operation. foot dragging, paper work parked on a deck, hang ups were the main problems. The MRA was needed because of the density of her breast, The VA MRA was broken and she had to wait to get a voucher for Baptist Hospital MRA machine. She went to get another opinion and I told her to get a voucher to go to Baptist Hospital after the 2nd opinion they were ready to do the operation 2 days later. That’s what it took… a F__ing voucher. Tom Tancredo is right on point on this one.

I see a few sniffles become a wasteful rush to the Emergency Room, while critically symptomatic illness is ignored because the person plays by the rules, and allowed to evolve into a life-threatening condition. I watch whatever possibility of them becoming productive citizens taken away by substandard care. I watch my neighbors died.

You show me a State run Health care program that works, not counting that belonging to the spineless, self-serving Counter-Revolutionary element that occupy Congress.

Also a veteran and the current system is abominable. It is bureaucracy at its worst. It took me 4 visits and 4 months just to get a MRI. I had to travel more than 50 miles for each visit and in the end got an idiot that couldn’t read the MRI as the orthopedic surgeon. I refused the treatment.

The government couldn’t run a Chinese fire drill without screwing it up.

Tom and I went to the same Induction Center for a physical back in 1969. I can tell you
from personal experience that those people werent begging anyboy for reasons why they should be
classified 1-Y. If Tom Tancredo got a 1-Y out of the people at the Denver Induction Center
in 1969 for clinical depression he had to do a whole lot more than just casually mention that
he had some therapy sessions as a teenager. Nobody would have forced him to point out his history
of Psychotherapy.
If his claim was legit I’m sorry for him but the Army that I served in was full of people who
were depressed. Tom would have fit right in.

I had a heart condition, and had to have surgery to correct my problem when I was in my twenties. I married an Naval Officer, and now I have to go through the military hospitals, we live close by the hospital so go their first. My youngest daughter looks to have the same condition as I. The crap I have gone through to get her treated, referred out is horrible. When other families have had a loved one get sick, I have heard their husbands tell them don’t worry, we will go to an outside hospital and I will pay for it out of pocket if I have to! The military health care stinks, I cringe when I have to use one of their hospitals. They don’t have enough staff in hospitals! They are way over worked, and they are not known for having the best medical equipment on hand. My friend found a lump on her arm, and she drove from Nebraska to Texas for treatment, they would not approve of her going to our fine hospitals in our area, it was a JOKE! When I have thyroid work done, my blood is sent to a military lab in TEXAS from Nebraska! I have had to wait will over a month and a half for my blood work results! Meanwhile I feel like crap, hair falling out, skin cracking and my thyroid so swollen I have a hard time swallowing anything! I know of an officer family whose daughter needed an insulin pump and if I told you what they ended up doing you would not believe me, the story is so unreal. I was finally told by the doctor at the military hospital, when my daughter has an episode concerning her heart just to go ahead, and go to children’s emergency room, because they just don’t have the means to treat her condition. That means I have to get on the phone to TRICARE and haggle with them for approval, or I pay out of pocket. Let me tell you, the frustration with the folks that handle TRICARE is huge, it is like beating your head against a brick wall. The ironic thing is before I married my husband I worked for the government and I had MAILHANDLERS insurance. I used them for my heart surgery, and the difference with using MAILHANDLERS and having to jump through, hoop after hoop, after hoop with TRICARE is staggering. I have gotten to a point at times that I just go ahead and pay out of pocket. Don’t even get my started on the dental coverage, its CRAP! My niece who works for a department store has better health and dental coverage, and her cost is minimal. When I needed physical therapy because of a broken foot, it was a nightmare. I went into room, sat down and looked at these young kids with more severe medical conditions than I, and my heart sank. It took my forever to get that appointment, and I knew in my gut I was not going back. I talked to my therapist, and got my exercises to do, then asked her what was up. She explained her workload, and she had exactly 15 minutes allotted to see each patient. She was so overwhelmed with patients. I did not go back, I wanted others who had more of a demanding need to have my slot. I could go on about my broken foot being cast by an eye doctor, who cast it wrong, and I had to help! Took me close to six weeks to see radiologist, only to be told wrong cast and wrong diagnosis!

I know a woman who went through a C-Section up in Portsmouth hospital. Unfortunately for her they did not knock her out all the way, so she felt them cutting her, and started to scream! The doctor got enraged but at her! My neighbor had a planned C-Section, and they cut her daughter’s hip when opening up the mother! It just goes on and on, and on!

There are good doctors and staff in the military hospitals but they truly are not there for dependents. They are overworked, understaffed and shrinking. Our local hospital staff is nice, truly they are but spread far too thin! I know what our VETS go through, I watched my father. It is not a good system, at all. Why are the liberals in this country so intent on destroying us from within?
