The beauty of comments made publicly and "out loud" by people like David Carr is that it IS repeated all over websites and blogs. They are so full of themselves that at this point, they think they can say ANYTHING, and it won't hurt them or their "cause". Playing geographic politics in today's world though, is really naive. Good or bad, living in Kansas isn't all that different from living in New York or California. We all drink the same Starbucks while wearing our J Crew clothing while watching the same TV shows and stuff on the internet.

So now, it isn't just being a conservative that gets disdain from the Left, but even where you live! That's been the case for a very long time, but now they ARE saying it out loud, in public.

One of the first times I really started to worry about people on the Left was a few years ago. I was driving to a location southeast of Los Angeles when my Left, Hollywood friend starting saying, "Why in the world would anyone live out here! I mean REALLY? It's gross! There is NOTHING here…blah, blah, blah." I have to say that I was startled and argued that many people simply can't afford LA, private schools, a nice house. She said, "But these houses are so gross–they all look the same!!" I had to explain that some people can't afford a custom home–so they live in a perfectly fine subdivision…" That conversation changed my opinion of this person, and I really started to HEAR the things she said. I started to hear subtly bigoted things, many, many elitist comments and things that were just plain wrong like "Only Democrats care about education." I argued that point, but I realized that her opinions were a part of a belief system, so ingrained in her that FACTS MEAN NOTHING.

To summarize, if people like David Carr want to go on Bill Maher's show and promote their hatred of probably 75% or 85% of the country, then I welcome that. These people are the FACE of the current Democratic Party. And that should make a few Democrats think twice about being a member.

When I was 19 I moved to NYC. So many people had this map of NYC and "the rest of the country". So many NYers think they're so much smarter and that they work harder than the rest. I'd trust a farmer more than I would a NYTimes intellectual.

If all of the people in Kansas and Missouri and all of those other "middle places" withheld their patronage from the advertisers who fund drivel such as this, it would end overnight. Even though the market share of the dinosaur media continues to shrink, advertisers continue to support them. If they knew that having their name associated with these deluded, self-important, elitist bigots meant economic ruin for their company name, their logo, their investments, etc., we all know that it would end overnight. If these folks were reduced to blogging from the basement of their parents' home and had to get a real job and produce a good or service that others would buy, their tune would change. This is easy. I worked in the film biz in LA and came across many Liberals like your ex-friend. I couldn't stand it after a while and left LA. Unfortunately, it's everywhere. If you move to a mostly Liberal town or a Conservative town, the elite of that town will act that way. We all want to be part of a community, clan, social group, ect. and we all want power in some way. The MSM has made one group of people (Liberals) the elite and that's why they act so arrogantly because they're encouraged and praised for being that way. Having worked with physicists, engineers, mathematicians, and some pretty savvy business people over the decades, and having traveled the world, some for Uncle Sam, some for business, and some for grins, I find little to distinguish the prototypical northeasterner from any other person on earth.
