Typical elitist behavior. This is atrocious, someone elected by taxpayers, should not feel they have the right to treat their constituents in this manner. I hope that this story continues to gain traction, that way this guy will be voted out at the next election, whenever that may be for him.

I find it amazing that the people that claim to value the first amendment seem to be the first group of people to try and stifle it.

Jamesb   July 26th, 2010 - 6:15 am

This is outrageous. This smirking PUNK Democrat, his capo, AND the local police are complicite in pissing on the 1st amendment. Unbelieveable.

And is this "assemblyman" indeed a Democrat? Of COURSE this FACIST is a Democrat, that was an easy conclusion to reach.

Yes, the Dems rule with a fist of oppression. Just ask the so called "Blue Dogs" who have been beaten into submission by their Party rulers. Do you want to live under these "thugs"? NO! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=X4bhGEtm4-U

Politician looks like a hit man from the Godfather. If he knocked on my door I would immediately expect to get hit on the kneecap with a BB bat.

bandkstewart   July 26th, 2010 - 1:27 pm

Yea he is a democrat. His website boasts so. Just does what that other democrats wish in their hearts to do with the media. Typical for a California legislator.

Those who speak with a forked tongue best watch out because a pig roast is coming in November.

Subsalior   July 26th, 2010 - 1:30 pm

Ok, look folks, this kind of stuff requires a new approach….

They make video camera that are very, very small(and cheap)…

This is what has to be used when people like this don't want the "light of day " in their meetings…..

Look up MP10 video camera…..

AmericanParch   July 26th, 2010 - 6:32 am

Mike Gatto is just like every other Democrat right now. The nervous behavior of the Democrat Party is weighing hard ever since the start of the Health Care Debate. They man-handled the issue and pushed the bill with their majority vote, which no Republicans would vote for because it was bad for the country, now the nation is seeing why they all fought against it. The Democrats will man handle anyone they can and they don't care how they do it, even hurting the Constitution or the laws of the law in order to do so.

ALL OF AMERICA, LISTEN UP, THERE WAS A REASON FOR A CHANGE BACK IN 2004, THE GOP HAD LOST THERE WAY AND BECOME CORRUPT, HOPEFULLY THEY HAVE LEARNED THEIR LESSON, BUT NOW THE DEMOCRATS HAVE TAKEN IN THE SAME FOOTSTEPS AND WENT WAY BEYOND THE GOP. IT IS TIME TO REPLACE THOSE THAT ARE CORRUPT. FOR EVERY CORRUPT REPUBLICAN THERE ARE THREE CORRUPT DEMOCRATS AND WE NEED TO START REALIZING THIS: (source http://www.americanparchment.com )

mg24   July 26th, 2010 - 1:34 pm

There still is freedom of the press, right?

NOQTR4TR8RS   July 26th, 2010 - 1:36 pm

Something doesn't add up. If the reporter indeed had a legal right to be there, then why didn't he just stay there, get arrested, and then sue the politician, his thugs, the state Democrat Party, the police department, and the city for violating his rights? There must be more to the story.

DiggyOrange   July 26th, 2010 - 1:37 pm

this is becoming common place. where the police do the dirty work for these crooks and slime balls .

peteee363   July 26th, 2010 - 1:39 pm

wow, he is only in the ca assembly, he dodges media like a full blown democrat rep or senator. i think i see a future shining star in the democrat party. i still want to know how a film crew gets removed by cops at a public library, for a public townhall meeting. i guess the constitution has already been shreaded in california.

Mark5610   July 26th, 2010 - 1:39 pm

Another progressive turd holding office.

I guess , scumbags are not allowed. Oh well.

CBrooks1976   July 26th, 2010 - 6:45 am

Any cop interfering with a constitutionally protected right isn't acting within he's authority and so he is effectively just someone committing assault.

As for the unstable individual who tossed the cup of water at the reporter, it would take tremendous effort on my part not to beat the hell out of the jerk.

Jamesb   July 26th, 2010 - 1:46 pm

Unionized police officers picking up some overtime. Unions=Democrats=Police Departments – it's a unit of Democrat Party implementation of Cloward Piven strategy.

unkeeaf   July 26th, 2010 - 1:47 pm

Only a fascist Democrat would pull such a move. They claim the right is fascist, but they know that is not true. Fascism is a product of the LEFT.

He's probably running a ponzi scheme, and doesn't want any witnesses as he bilks the elderly. Notice the audience.

Hesed   July 26th, 2010 - 2:03 pm

Yep, but what will the police do? These guys have this room reserved for their uses, and want this person(a reporter) not in their meeting.

It's a simple case of, you can't just go anywhere anytime you want, even if it is labeled 'public.' It ceases to be public, when it is reserved.

bobmc2   July 26th, 2010 - 2:06 pm

no one will know until it is to late .
Look at the man he could be in a godfather movie and he acts like it thats the sad part..

skipper99   July 26th, 2010 - 2:24 pm

There is an old saying " We have met the enemy and it is us". That is exactly what we have right now in America. We all piss and moan about the abyssmal failings and corruption of Obama and our Congress, BUT, it is us that elected these imbeciles. If the past 19 months have taught us anything, it should be a solemn vow by every freedom loving American to never permit such a miscarriage of the American system of governence to ever be trampled on again. I know majority are damn upset with the crap we get everyday from present "administration" as witnessed by the more strident opinions being posted. But, verbiage is one thing, a call to action at the polls must be forth coming.

everette18294   July 26th, 2010 - 2:25 pm

Amazing how freightend Nazis like you react to sunshine. The ones arrested should be the unionized thugs wearing badges purportly upholding the law.

Jamesb   July 26th, 2010 - 2:26 pm

Most states have "open meeting" laws for precisely this situation. The meeting place is a public library and subject matter is public information. I can think of NO reason for a legal explusion from this meeting.

This is thuggery and seems to be part of a running diolouge of "bad blood" between this media member and this sleazy politician.

Jamesb   July 26th, 2010 - 7:29 am

your teeth are green. and *fuzzy*

everette18294   July 26th, 2010 - 2:29 pm

The unions have gained so much power in California that the police are obviouly compromised. The citizens out there should be extremely careful if a serious issue arises because the police would definitely be suspect.

Hesed   July 26th, 2010 - 7:33 am

Oh, agreed, it is simple thuggery.

But the police probably only saw the trespassing laws, and reasonable request for someone to be expelled.

The library can have anyone they want expelled. That's up to the person who has authority. Just because it says 'public' doesn't mean free access.

And you're right about the union. They may have said they will never want these officers working security ever again, if they didn't expel the journalist.

Spanky2   July 26th, 2010 - 2:35 pm

Not since Democrats took complete control of Congress in January, 2007. BTW, haven't they done a great job with the deficit since then?

Spanky2   July 26th, 2010 - 2:36 pm

Not everyone is willing to be arrested, and for that I don't fault him.

Spanky2   July 26th, 2010 - 7:37 am

"It ceases to be public, when it is reserved. "

FALSE!

Surely you aren't suggesting that all public meetings in public places occur without reserving the space?

Just reserving a room in a public building does not mean it is off-limits to the press.

Note that the meeting was open to the general public, not to a limited number of people who had invitations.

Spanky2   July 26th, 2010 - 2:40 pm

Sometimes you post something that make such a complete mockery of your position that if someone else did it as sarcasm it would be too unbelievable to carry any weight.

The cop doesn't have a discretion. We don't know what his instructions were from his boss, whom he has to obey. He may have been told to protect the Assemblyman, so if the Assemblyman says he feels threatened, there isn't much the cop can do about it. He has to err on the side of caution. This is clearly on the shoulders of Gatto.

For beating up the water-thrower, that's a losing proposition. We all know how the MSM would handle that. We do need to learn a lesson from MLK concerning the effectiveness of non-violent protest.

Let the libunatics resort to violence.

Staying calm and taking it may be the more challenging path, but it can be much more effective than lashing out, especially when cameras are present.

Spanky2   July 26th, 2010 - 2:45 pm

This is CA, where libunatics in office are above the law.

Jamesb   July 26th, 2010 - 7:45 am

We don't have enough info to see if this goomba goon violated California open meetings code but if I was this guy I'd get an attorney involved, I think he has a case. I can't imagine a public offical holding a public meeting and kicking out the media – to wit:

GOVERNMENT CODE
SECTION 9027-9031

9027. Except as otherwise provided in this article, all meetings of
a house of the Legislature or a committee thereof shall be open and
public, and all persons shall be permitted to attend the meetings. As
used in this article, "meeting" means a gathering of a quorum of the
members of a house or committee in one place for the purpose of
discussing legislative or other official matters within the
jurisdiction of the house or committee. As used in this article,
"committee" includes a standing committee, joint committee,
conference committee, subcommittee, select committee, special
committee, research committee, or any similar body.

Spanky2   July 26th, 2010 - 2:46 pm

They're feeling desperate.

And with good reason.

Spanky2   July 26th, 2010 - 2:47 pm

It's not "what is to come." It's been here for years. Consider what happens when a conservative speaker appears on a college campus.

Spanky2   July 26th, 2010 - 2:49 pm

"Is there any doubt why we must remove these types from public office, never to regain power again?"

Oh, they will NEVER give up. Even if we kick them out during the next two elections, they will 1) Retain control of pockets of liberalism, and 2) Keep trying.

As long as they control public K-12 schools, universities, unions, and other powerful special interest groups, they will keep on trying – and they'll emerge triumphant at times.

This is not a short struggle. We need to prepare ourselves to fight for America over the long haul.

Spanky2   July 26th, 2010 - 2:52 pm

"These democrats have no idea what it means to be American, let alone serve in public office."

Their idea of public service differs from what the founding fathers intended or what reasonable people assume to be the norm.

Spanky2   July 26th, 2010 - 2:54 pm

"There is an old saying " We have met the enemy and it is us"."

AFAIK, that is from Walt Kelly's "Pogo" comic strip.

NOQTR4TR8RS   July 26th, 2010 - 2:54 pm

I'm not faulting the guy either necessarily. Gatto is obviously a slithering worm of a Democrat thug politician. No question there. All I am saying is that we may not know the whole story.

This report says the guy was let back in, without his camera, FWIW. http://www.glendalenewspress.com/news/tn-gnp-gatt...

Aside from, for example, a politician meeting with a grieving families, I've never heard of video cameras being disallowed from a public hearing like this. But that doesn't mean that perhaps that city or state has passed some ridiculous law to exclude video cameras. If not against the letter, Gatto's behavior is certainly against the spirit and intent of the First Amendment.

But, the bottom line is the guy either had the legal right to be there with a video camera, or he didn't. It was the journalist's job, and the policeman's job to know. If the journalist was legally removed, then he did the best he could, which is to show the world what Gatto is all about. Kudos to him for that. But if he was removed illegally, then the only way to stop that kind of thuggery is to stand up to it, even if it means getting arrested initially. So was Gatto the sniveling socialist hiding behind the law, or flagrantly disregarding the law? It makes a big difference.

TexasStomp   July 26th, 2010 - 2:55 pm

BINGO!

YATZEEE!

YOU LISTENING, GOP?

of course not. They know we're gonna give them their turn at the buffet table of PAC MONEY, SPENDING PROGRAMS AND OTHER COOL WAYS TO SPEND OTHER FOLKS' MONEY.

I've made up my mind. I'm not voting McCain OR Hayworth. I'm voting for the lowly little guy with 10% support, the guy who is NOT AN OLD GUY POLITICAL HACK. The guy who can't win. The guy who loves this country. And if you think I'm gonna regret that vote you're NUTZ.. I'M GONNA SLEEP LIKE A BABY.

GOT THAT YET, GOP?

"WE'RE NOT THE DEMS" IS NOT A CAMPAIGN STRATEGY I'M WILLING TO SUPPORT.

Ya, we get it Was……you and your fellow tyrant wanna-bes would love to be the ones who pick and choose who has rights and who doesn't and what rights they will have.

Why do you think we are always screaming about the Constitution? We will either be governed by the Constitution or ruled by little authoritarian dictator wanna-bes like this pathetic jerk.

TexasStomp   July 26th, 2010 - 8:03 am

I think you nailed it.

This IS California. They pass so many bone headed laws it would really make your head spin around spewin green stuff and tossin folks out of windows.

The voters in this state are CERTIFIABLE. It there is a way to stand logic on it's ear and fly in the face of all reason, they will break out and beat the bushes to find it, lobby for it, and pass it.

That said, I would love for just one frikkin lawyer to grow a pair and hunt down the LEGAL basis for that position, and SUE THE CITY AND THE LIBRARY if there is NO LAW SUPPORTING THAT ACTION.

The don't call them PUBLIC libraries for nothin. And if TAX dollars built and run it, TAXPAYERS should have unlimited access during business hours. But like every other outrage we've witnessed, NOQuarter, folks will moan and whine, but I don't see any lawyers steppin up to do the right thing.

There was a REASON DEMS AND OBAMA FIRST BOUGHT AND PAID FOR THE LAWYER LOBBY. I think we're beginning to see how that one is workin out. Wanna shut the lawyers up? Buy their silence.

Witness their purchase of "NO TORT REFORM" in the HC bill. And now they are a hole in the wind on all of the illegal and unconstitutional things in that bill.

Wow…what a total coinkidink.

TexasStomp   July 26th, 2010 - 3:29 pm

We need you here, so please promise me you won't hold your breath waiting for THAT one, lol

On a side not, I'm disappointed our "crack reporter" didn't even ask what law prevented filming of that meeting. When police stop or detain you….THEY MUST tell you why.

Think about that.

Every time a cop stops you he HAS TO KNOW AND BE ABLE TO QUOTE THE LAW HE CLAIMS YOU VIOLATED, CHAPTER AND VERSE. Police academy students spend MONTHS memorizint the civil and criminal code. They have to know the law to enforce it. They have to be able to JUSTIFY AND EXPLAIN what law a person has violated, it's number, and HOW they violated that law IN ORDER TO GRADUATE.

They don't just get to make shit up.

Why did this reporter not ask the question WE ALL DO when we're pulled over? What did I do? Usually you don't even have to ask. THEY TELL YOU the law you violated. And perhaps there is a law….this is California we're talkin. But if there isn't, then the COPS were VIOLATING THE LAW

…..bad juju.

We really gotta get smarter than this, people.

DontTreadOnMe   July 26th, 2010 - 3:32 pm

DontTreadOnMe   July 26th, 2010 - 3:34 pm

…says the guy with a -122 (and dropping) rep.

CBrooks1976   July 26th, 2010 - 8:35 am

You have to understand that I've been watching and studying the progressives for years and years.
I didn't snap to after Obama was elected or after we were feed the healthcare bill, those are just symptoms of the underline illness.
Law enforcement is under oath to defend the Constitution not office holders, his motivation is a pay check and he doesn't care about right and wrong.
I understand that a lot of people take offence to that but "just doing my job" has never been an acceptable defense for doing what you know is wrong.

As for the MLK red herring, non-violence has never done anything for anybody.
MLK used bad press to push politicians the same way the MSM has been using threats of personal smear against us.
And remeber, he got shot.

The silly idea that the media needs us to do something for them to have ammo to use against us is just ridiculous.
Guys like Glenn Beck(who I like) would have us believe that protesting and demanding what we want is the way to go.
The leftist radicals learned a long time ago that it doesn't work that way.
What the left has done is work their way in to the power structure so they can use it to their ends.
They don't care if we are nice to them or if we start burning cities, they will keep pushing their agenda until they have totally remade the country.

The key is our right to dissolve the government any time we want.
Now that people are finally paying attention we should re-set the system and put better people in place.
No violence is needed on our part, but it will be used against us for not complying much the same way it was used against MLK.
The difference is that he wanted to change the systems and we see that it has been changed.
Now it's time to reject it, dust off the Constitution where your only loyalties should be.
The only way out of this is to lose your fear of the media, their cameras and the instruments of this government.
Americans act like battered spouses, they don't like it but can't imagine any other way of life.

I know this sounds crazy and in retrospect you'll smack yourself for not seeing it.
The time for protesting and reasoning with th left was 20-30 years ago.
Now that we've let them take completely over we need to start from scratch.
Just keeping a cool head and playing nice isn't going to have much effect on people who have no fear of you.
Bottom line, asking your oppressor to please stop oppressing you is a waste of time.

Bill_Smith   July 26th, 2010 - 3:36 pm

Let me make this simple for you.

1. Whoever took the video and sent it to Breitbart knew that he still had the ENTIRE video, and so did Andrew.

2. Whoever shot the video was IN THE ROOM and obviously visible to the NAACP, and therefor had their permission to be shooting, and Breitbart could figure this out even if you couldn't/can't.

3. Therefore, Breitbart would have known that he could not get away with editing the video. He posted what he was sent. Why would he deliberately make himself out as a liar when he knew he could so easily be exposed, you idiot?

Please cite with time, date, and specific quotations the evidence that Breitbart is a "known liar," or crawl back in your cave.

DontTreadOnMe   July 26th, 2010 - 3:36 pm

He's no fascist. "Fascist" is a term describing a person of far-right ideology who thinks there should be complete control of the population by a miltary dictatorship. I think you want the term "tyrant", or maybe just "*ssh*le".

Wasilla_Grizzly   July 26th, 2010 - 3:38 pm

1. SO SAYS KNOWN LIAR ANDREW BREITBART
2. YES
3.Therefore Breitbart is still a known LIAR and has more credibility than Baghdad Bob.

Breitbart is a JOKE and now EVRYONE KNOWS IT !!!

Wasilla_Grizzly   July 26th, 2010 - 3:39 pm

"destroy human freedom on earth".

Thom Jefferson loved his slaves.

Order66   July 26th, 2010 - 3:41 pm

Welp, this is what you wanted, America. You wanted to give power to the "sensitive men" – the fraudulent leftists with testosterone that exceeds only their common sense. So, now you have some weasel in a pink shirt and penny loafers thinkin' he's a hard guy when in even a slightly less civilized society he would have his pansy a$$ kicked up and down the block. Seriously, this guy is about as offensive as the jerk in Die Hard that tried to "negotiate" on McClane's behalf.

It's a friggin shame that an exquisite female creature such as Sarah Palin could teach those pantywaists a thing or a million regarding having balls and conviction.

jodark   July 26th, 2010 - 3:43 pm

Then why did the let Gatto in?

Spanky2   July 26th, 2010 - 8:47 am

"As for the MLK red herring, non-violence has never done anything for anybody. "

On the contrary, non-violence has indeed achieved a lot in terms of swaying public opinion. Yeah, I know we aren't going to change the minds of the committed progressives and liberals, but there are a lot of undecided, on-the-fence voters out there who are indeed affected by what they see in the media.

Ghandi's non-violence forced the British to free India.

If they see someone throw water on a reporter, they'll have a negative view of the water-thrower.

If they see a reporter punch out someone for throwing water, the'll side with the water-thrower.

What is important is winning the country back from the libunatics, not making ourselves feel good because we lashed out, and we need the support of reasonable, unaligned people in order to do that.

Nowhere did I suggest that it was appropriate to just ask the oppressor to stop oppressing us. I know that doesn't work. Public opinion DOES work, however, particularly with the youth.

Knowbetter   July 26th, 2010 - 3:50 pm

Hey troll what are you still in your teens or maybe low 20s .Do you watch and read news or are you busy watching cartoon network.

Sometimes I almost want to feel sorry for them. They have all the power, but they showed their real faces and true intentions, and now America distrusts them and wants them gone. We're on to the MSM's collusion and deception now, and less people trust them than ever as well. The Progressive "dream" was within reach, but they over-reached, and now it will all disintegrate. Americans have woken up.

I almost want to feel sorry for them, but then they show me what hateful, nasty, ugly people they are and the feeling goes away.

Jamesb   July 26th, 2010 - 8:51 am

I've been doing some reading on the left/right question concerning the term facist and LOTS of evidence exists that it's a leftist ideology. El Duce was widely described as a facist and had stellar socialist credentials dating from at least his career in newspapers – which is how he became famous.

For what it's worth.

NOQTR4TR8RS   July 26th, 2010 - 3:52 pm

I hope the guy has a case, and ends up suing Gatto, his thugs, the state Democrat Party, the police, the city, and anyone else responsible. Looks like blatant disregard for freedom of the press to me, but I'm curious to learn all the facts, and especially what the law states. The fact that he was allowed back into the meeting without his camera makes me think this might fizzle out, since he wasn't denied access absolutely.

Legal issues aside, there can only be one practical reason for not allowing video recording of the event, and that is to hide something – to conceal facts from the public. The seditionist left despises dissent. They are openly hostile to free political speech and to a free press. The Democrats are the book burners of our time, and this is but another example of their hostility to an informed public and a free press.

Wasilla_Grizzly   July 26th, 2010 - 3:54 pm

Look at how the ACORN video was thrown out of court and the judge destroyed good old ANDY while doing it.
then look at the new fake video he produced as his "evidence" if NAACP racism.
And those are the two most recent.
Do you really need more ?

Wasilla_Grizzly   July 26th, 2010 - 3:55 pm

cartoon network has more viewers than Fox that's a fact.

Wasilla_Grizzly   July 26th, 2010 - 3:55 pm

No argument there.

Spanky2   July 26th, 2010 - 3:56 pm

"But that doesn't mean that perhaps that city or state has passed some ridiculous law to exclude video cameras"

When the reporter was being ejected, there was no mention of any special law that permitted that action. I feel confident that Glendale, LA County, or CA had such a law prohibiting the taping of public meetings in public places, that such a law would have been cited.

And furthermore, that law would have been declared unconstitutional by now.

imsailing2   July 26th, 2010 - 3:56 pm

Wow, that Larry guy….what a nasty little putz. He's the typical little sidekick who has no power or ability on his own so he gloms himself onto some thug who has managed to gain some power just to make himself relevant.

Larry: "I'm empowered to tell you that."

No, I don't have to tell you my title or how I have any authority. For all you know I am just somebody who doesn't want you here. But you should do whatever I tell you to do even if it is against your rights, because "I'm empowered."

That's really the bottom line here isn't it??? We are empowered so we call the shots. We don't care what the law is, we will find ways to use it to our liking.

I would have asked police what charges they would use to arrest me. The officer agreed that he had been non confrontational & the disturbance had been created by those that wanted to throw him out.

FlaviusJulius   July 26th, 2010 - 3:58 pm

I believe I did basic training with Peter Musurlian back in summer 1991. E3/321.They have no authority to stop you from filming in a public place. There is no expectation of privacy in public. I would have backed down as well. The local Gestapo would have arrested you anyway. Sue the racist white officers personally for civil rights violations. Play the race card like the anti-Christ Obama.

Wasilla_Grizzly   July 26th, 2010 - 3:59 pm

Dont you hate those stinking Union Members, Jamesb ? I'll bet most of your fellow ilk hate the police, fire, nurses, border patrol, FBI, CIA, etc..etc…as much as you do.

tommyd88   July 26th, 2010 - 4:05 pm

I damn sure know I would have sat there and made them arrest me,
Then if legally correct I would have hammered the dog squeeze out of them in a court of law.. You have to make these leftist slime balls pay the price for their hypocrisy..

NOQTR4TR8RS   July 26th, 2010 - 4:05 pm

"When the reporter was being ejected, there was no mention of any special law that permitted that action."

True, but not necessarily required in many parts of the country. You can be arrested, brought to jail and then have the law explained to you.

"I feel confident that ( if ) Glendale, LA County, or CA had such a law prohibiting the taping of public meetings in public places, that such a law would have been cited."
Perhaps. I would think so too. Which is why this all seems odd to me. Are Gatto, and these cops that ignorant of the law? I'd be surprised. We'll find out, I'm sure, and I look forward to it. I hope Breitbart follows up on this case.

"And furthermore, that law would have been declared unconstitutional by now."
It wouldn't have been, if no one had ever bothered to stand up to it, which is what I was alluding to in my original post.

Bill_Smith   July 26th, 2010 - 4:06 pm

Quotation marks do not negate the clear racism exhibited by the NAACP audience in the year 2010 BEFORE they knew Sherrod was going to do a mea culpa. The ACORN videos speak for themselves. "Fake video?" You mean those people were all actors? Or was it all CGI?? It was ACORN that got destroyed.

As I said, you are done. No more soup or replies for you.

What_what_what   July 26th, 2010 - 4:07 pm

It doesn't seem like the locals have a problem at all. It's just the reporter that's mad.

RedStater   July 26th, 2010 - 4:09 pm

Well, this is indeed brash behavior, but I blame the press themselves for much of it. They have, for the past 20 years anyway, not only looked the other way when democrats and liberals pulled shenanigans, they enabled them to do so. The media have given these guys a pass to become more arrogant, more condescending, and more bold in their ignoring of accountability, simply to advance an agenda. The media has been their lapdog, so why are they shocked when they are treated like one? The purpose of law is to restrain evil and stop plundering of private property. The purpose of elected officials is to see to it that law is made and enacted that does that very thing. The purpose of journalists being guaranteed freedom is to hold these politicians accountable to do their jobs and be worthy of public trust. When the media climbs into bed with them and chooses sides, the whole thing breaks down. They are reaping what they've sown, and the rest of us are paying for it.,

DGL1962   July 26th, 2010 - 9:12 am

Corrupt democrat politician's aren't the biggest threat to our liberties,it's the droid-like cops that follow any order without questioning it(like the cop in the video).
Those cops are the drones that will kick in our doors in the attempt to confiscate our guns if the order is given.

CBrooks1976   July 26th, 2010 - 9:13 am

His behavior will only change when he becomes afraid to act out the way.
If he knows I'm willing to go to jail and that I'm not deterred he isn't going to throw anything at anybody.
The media will say what ever they want independent of reality as always.

Wasilla_Grizzly   July 26th, 2010 - 4:14 pm

Obviously Bill , you are woefully ignorant of what has happened in the ACORN case. The case was thrown out of court. Not just thrown, but punched and kicked on its way out. The videos were HIGHLY edited to ONLY show what breitbart wanted. when the entire video was shown to the court, Along with the police reports from the ACORN wokers who called them IMMEDIATLY after the frauds left the rooms, the case was thrown out. along with a tongue lashing from the judge. In fact, Andrew is being sued by a number of Acorn workers. Sorry.

I'll miss you F***ing ignorant replies. sorry you dont feel the need to make a JOKE of yourself anymore. I needed the laugh.

Public opinion has a lot of power behind it.

The left figured that out when they whipped up anti-Bush sentiment, which put Obama in the White House.

If we think we're going to make a huge difference by converting or silencing dyed-in-the-wool liberals, we're going to lose.

I never said anything about converting them.
They will never change and they'll never give.
I want to drive them back underground.

How shaken up do you thing the Black Panthers would be if the next time they show up at a polling place to bully voters they were confronted by a bunch of regular folks.
The media would go about doing what it does, call them racists, ect.
But the next time the Panthers go out to make trouble they were confronted again!
What would they do?
If they can't intimidate the public in to standing by while they act out they will go away.
The same can be said for the union thugs.
They get in people faces because they believe they are safe.
What if we proved to them that they aren't?

The people in office are going to do what ever they think they can get away with.
If there is no buffer between them and us and we don't respond to media intimidation the left will back down.

Kevin Stowell   July 26th, 2010 - 4:59 pm

Why didn't you capitalize Japanese? It's a proper noun. Is this your circuitous way of venting your racist spleen against a widely respected culture which, as far as I know, has never committed any kind of transgression against you? Why all the hate, Wasilla? Do YOU find YOUR bigotry funny? Inquiring minds want to know. My God, you haven't lynched any Japanese, have you? Are you trying to diminish the culture, in some way, by NOT capitalizing the word "Japanese?"

How do they always finds cops who are willing to do the dirty work of actually breaking the law to shut up legal dissent? In this case, it isn't even dissent — it's just a guy trying to film an event in a public place.

If politicians insist that the public can and must be filmed, and that cops can film all traffic stops, then all public officials and civil servants ought to be subjected to the same. Let's see how they like living under their own rules.

Coward; I'd love to meet him in an alley. It's easy to "look" tough as a mafia wannabe. But, it's a totally different thing to actually "be" tough and take a damn question. This administration is bringing out all of the roaches.

"The grizzly's excitable this morning."

I strongly suspect the libunatics will be vociferous on the net for a while. Their cheerleaders were just invigorated at the Netroots' bloggers convention.

They got new marching orders, which obviously include calling every conservative a racist.

They'll get worn out in a couple of weeks and then the liberal overlords will have to pump them up again and pass out more talking points.

Spanky2   July 26th, 2010 - 6:59 pm

troll much?

WVSickFreak   July 26th, 2010 - 7:05 pm

Again, how was he associated with Breitbart? Because the video is posted on this site? And from what was on the video, the reporter seemed calm and polite. He was obviously frustrated with the situation.

WVSickFreak   July 26th, 2010 - 7:09 pm

You lose a debate every time you name call or use the term racist.

sandyjo53   July 26th, 2010 - 12:26 pm

The most disgusting part of the whole thing is the police and the people don't have a problem with this and actually help, look at the guy in the end who gets in the face of the camera man and the one who throws water..you got to be kidding!
I thought electing/selecting a black man for the presidency was supposed to bring us all together,it seems like we are more divided on every front and it's getting worse.

"Reporting for Globalist Films?" WTF? The alleged reporter garbles his name so badly it can't be deciphered. Globalist? He's obviously in league with the One Worlders at the U.N., and seeking to prepare the ground for a black helicopter assult of U.N. Globalist troops wearing James O'Keefe masks. Patriotic birther/Americans will then be transported to Obamatration Camps in the Alaska wilderness sold to the OWG (One World Government) by double agent Sasha Palinskov (Sarah Palin). Apparently elected officials need to carry mace to avoid the Dick Armey of Zombie O'Keefe "reporters" asserting their "rights."

.

Quayle2012_KNOT   July 26th, 2010 - 7:55 pm

Here's a question: Do you think it's smart to bait several police officers who've obviously decided it's time for you to go? Or is it the natural right of every free born, birther/American to assert their Dick Armey granted right to be as dumb as he or she pleases as long as they have a camera. Given some of the footage I've seen here recently there seems to be an attitude that a camera grants you special privileges ordinary citizens don't seem to possess when it comes to disrupting public events.

the liberal utopia, known as California, did away with paying any attention to the constitution years ago. would be so nice if we could just let their government go bankrupt and show exactly what happens when Democrats are allowed to run wild. Instead, people from all over this great country are going to have to bail out this state of liberals, all so that we can make sure that the republicans can't sit and point at Cali as the failed place the rest of America is being forced towards by the commies in congress and in the white house.

spaceracer423   July 26th, 2010 - 12:58 pm

reasonjester   July 26th, 2010 - 8:01 pm

Good reporting, folks. This is why we have a free press – for now.

reasonjester   July 26th, 2010 - 8:03 pm

Bimmcorp   July 26th, 2010 - 8:03 pm

O.K. let me see. The man is an elected official. It was in a PUBLIC library. It was a "Town Hall Meeting". The camera operator created no disturbance. This is what is in store for us in Kaptain KickAss' Progressive America. We need all clear thinking Americans to get out and vote on November 2, 2010. Progressive liberalism is a disease, and our vote is the cure.

They'd have to be unusually well informed to recognize him, however, if you were to wear it while saying, "I'm from the 'Big Sites,' and I'm here to give you impartial journalism," I'd expect they would soil their pants. And, if the mask is sufficiently lifelike, the site of his paltry amount of skin and fright wig hair stretched over an elongated skull appearance will do the trick for anybody. Just don't do it to children.

BlackRepublican   July 26th, 2010 - 8:31 pm

Well genius. We'll never know. Now, will we? That's the beauty of suppressing the press! LOL! Coward.

Hesed   July 26th, 2010 - 8:38 pm

The meeting was not one of the Assembly, it was a reservation of an open to public use room at the library.

If we're having a meeting of ____s anonymous, we do not have to let the press attend.

But a town hall meeting should be open to all who will.

Just not in California, apparently.

Yes, it is refreshing to think we have no real problems to contemplate other than how to lower the national political discourse a little more.

Simple put, the law clearly states, that if you are a Democrat you can exclude the press and use thugs to have people you don't want around removed. If your a Republican then anyone can be in your face any where, any time, including inside your own home because you're a racist gay basher anyway.

(Can't believe I need to explain this.)

NOQTR4TR8RS   July 26th, 2010 - 9:01 pm

School kids, yes, but I recommend it for adults too.

The traditional left-right political spectrum is flawed. It works for some instances, but for many others it doesn't. It doesn't account for ideologies such as libertarianism or anarchism very well at all, for instance. And it views communists and fascists as polar opposites, when in many ways they are quite similar as a practical matter. This is why we so often hear frustrated people lashing out, calling people "fascist" and "communist" in the same breath. People intuitively understand that they are similar in that they are excessively authoritarian.

I'm as guilty as anyone of using left-right to identify groups and persons during discussion, as a matter of expediency. But it is admittedly a flawed paradigm.

flyright66   July 26th, 2010 - 9:26 pm

So, a citizen quietly setting up a camera for a, how did you say, 'public event' should just bite his tongue and leave because ….uh, why again was he asked to leave? What law was he breaking? Who was he threatening? Oh, that's right…..I guess he would need to be black, dressed in some type of beret and wielding a baton to have any rights huh? Maybe,if he didn't speak English and was draped in another country's flag, then would he have rights? You're jacked up in your thinking and what's even scarier is that you think yours is an elevated opinion….yikes!

flyright66   July 26th, 2010 - 2:27 pm

Aw come on, you know it's Bush's fault….. hee hee!!

True and they did it right under our noses by getting into the media, college professorships, school boards and teacher unions, textbook committees, and hollywood.

Quayle2012_KNOT   July 26th, 2010 - 2:48 pm

If you watched the video all the way through you'd have noticed the "reporter" is clearly jacked up on double cheeseburgers and jelly donuts. I suspect he may also be under the influence of deep fried peanut butter and banana sandwiches. Further, he claims to be from "Globalist News," a U.N. commie front if ever one existed. He's clearly a public menace deserving of an immediate stomping with Glendale police jackboots, if you don't mind my politely pointing that out.

Diptera   July 26th, 2010 - 2:55 pm

Just like New Orleans – in the end it was the police and national guard who were the enemy of the people, denying the people any means of protecting themselves from the criminal element that they were UNABLE to deal with.

Jamesb   July 26th, 2010 - 2:59 pm

Thanks for correcting me on that, true – EVERYBODY can learn from that video. It's clear and concise.

I've used a circular "spectrum" (so to speak) for years with extreme right and extreme left occupying adjoining spaces on the scale. 180 degrees over I put moderate center – moderate left – countries like the United States and France in that middle (without getting in to quibbling about little details). I've found it useful in discussions, I often graba paper plate and a pen and "go to work". I doubt it's my original idea, but I hadn't heard of explaining that way, but none the less it works.

Quayle2012_KNOT   July 26th, 2010 - 10:00 pm

BHO_UMM_UMM_UMM   July 26th, 2010 - 3:55 pm

Why would they let themselves be videotaped? Because it is the law. I know that means little to Democrats, union thugs, Marxists, and Obama buttlickers.

Really, edit tapes to make racists look racist, liars look dishonest, dummies look stupid? If Democrats and liberals had nothing to hide, they'd videotape themselves and make it available themselves, to counter editing, to maintain transparency, but they dare not record their own nefarious actions and words, their criminal conspiring, their blatant disregad of law and the Constitution, and their vulgar references to the people. Transparency doesn't suit Democrats and Marxists.

That's the facts.

Now a public official should not conduct a 'public' meeting where journalists are not allowed, unless they are taking up room that constituents would otherwise occupy, IMO.

I suppose I cannot argue with that. But when a conservative speaker is shouted down at a college campus, it can be argued that the actions are protected via the 1st Amendment. I don't agree with that, but it is their arguement. When the government uses the POLICE to stop journalists from covering government activities, we certainly have huge problems.

Funny isn't it? Breitbart has that other protest posted on the cops ejecting protesters for Hard Rock's Private property, and coppers here running-off a reporter from public property.

Bring your cameras, but bring your guns to these events too. What I've seen in both incidents here, are constitutional violations by police that have taken sworn to protect and serve the constitution of the United States.

Shove leaflets of "Oathkeepers.org" in these cops faces. When They violate your right to assemble, They have broken the law, and their oath to impose any type of order on you. Arrest them on the spot.
