Henri, I’m game, what’s the forest? Naw, huh? Vacuous, insulting aspersions don’t tell me what “the forest” is.
He knows the difference between the two documents, but what he is counting on is an ignorant audience, the kind who thinks, we are above all else, a democracy instead of a representative republic. An audience that has only been feed parts of the truth, but it is so loose in their hearts and minds, that he is able to assemble it for them in any way he wishes in order to achieve his goal. He is also relying on a compliant media that for the most part, won’t call him out on these “technicalities”. The man is a brilliant speaker and politician. Some may argue the last point, but that all depends on what his ultimate objective is. He told us that he wants to fundamentally transform America. It appears that Obama knows more about the Constitution than his detractors. He was COMPLETELY correct in what he said. The entire sentence, rather than the truncated quote makes it obvious that he was referring to the 14th Amendment and Equal Protection Clause, which is considered the enshrinement of the notion of “created equal”.
The entire quote:
“We find unity in our incredible diversity, drawing on the promise enshrined in our Constitution: the notion that we’re all created equal; that no matter who you are or what you look like, if you abide by the law you should be protected by it; if you adhere to our common values you should be treated no different than anyone else.”
See all that stuff about equal protection under the law?
