Obama’s Bank Plan Is Doomed To Failure

Once again, President Obama completely missed the mark on the causes of and solutions to the financial crisis. In his speech this morning, the President outlined a major initiative to increase regulation of banks. He claims the financial crisis was caused by reckless speculation by greedy bankers in search of quick profits. What he fails to acknowledge is that this behavior was the direct result of the cheap credit supplied by the Federal Reserve and the moral hazard supplied by government regulations and subsidies.

In his efforts to prevent the next financial crisis, the President is focused on the symptoms rather than the disease. Therefore, his attempt to prevent future financial crises is doomed to failure, as the misguided policies that led to the last crisis are preserved while even more damaging policies are added. Current Fed policy is more reckless than before; continued subsidies to the mortgage market and the bailouts for banks are creating even bigger moral hazards; and, as a result, the economy is even more leveraged and more vulnerable to rising interest rates than ever.

The only way to prevent another financial crisis would be to reverse the fiscal and monetary policies that lead to the last crisis, and which now threaten to bring on an ever larger one. However, this Administration seems to lack the brains or the guts to do it. – Peter Schiff

The use of reconciliation was NOT meant to be used to pass new major governmental program(s) but was meant as a way to lower federal taxes or for reducing the federal deficit without the need of a super majority to do so. It is suppose to be a tool that Congress can utilize to “balance” the budget or in “lowering” taxes to stimulate job growth.

The Democrats are trying to ram this boondoggle of a Health Care sham of a bill through Congress even though the vast ‘majority’ of Americans DON’T want it! For the love of GOD! Even the bluest of blue States i.e. Ted Kennedy’s Massachusetts voted “convincingly” AGAINST this piece of rubbish by voting in a Republican to fill Ted Kennedy’s Senate seat because the people of Massachusetts DON’T WANT IT EITHER!!! Scott Brown ran a campaign on the premise of voting against Obamacare, lowering taxes, and limiting government. AND HE WON!! And the bluest of blue States AGREES with Scott Brown!

If liberal politicians don’t listen to the American people, in 2010 many may have to ‘reconcile’ the fact that they’re not Members of Congress anymore. EVERY liberal Democrat in Congress should be shuddering in his or her boots because if Massachusetts can vote a resounding NO to this Administration, and its policies, by voting in a Republican to replace Ted Kennedy’s Senate seat, you better believe each and every other State in these United States can do the same thing too! WE THE PEOPLE are NOT to be trampled on!! >> You vote Obamacare, we’ll vote you OUT OF THERE!! Simple as that..

The bill in the House and the Senate should be “scrapped” immediately and then Democrats should allow Republicans to join into the negotiations process and proceed to draw up an entirely “new” bill that will have the American people at heart first and foremost. TORT reform should be included as well as allowing citizens to shop for Health Insurance across State lines. No person should be turned away because of a pre-existing condition, and there should be NO public option allowed AT ALL in the new bill. When sensible “cost controlling” measures are implemented and enacted everyone wins. Getting liberal Democrats to go along with such sensible and cost saving measures is entirely another matter though. In other words, don’t count on it. And as an example just look at the liberal Democrats recent talk of Reconciliation to try and “ram” this current boondoggle through Congress even though the majority of Americans DON’T WANT IT and it will KILL JOBS and OBSTRUCTS the Doctor/Patient relationship, RAISES costs, RAISES taxes, and will destroy the best Health Care System in the World in the process in its current form!

The Republicans (of which I am not one) have the right ideas about healthcare…assuming that it’s the federal government’s business to be involved in at all. Which it’s not. Tort reform, open sales across state lines and adjust the pre-existing cndition situtation. I’d also throw in getting rid of Medicaid over the next ten or twenty years, but that’s just me.
Please let the Obama crew try to push their garbage through with reconciliation. Please. They will be slaughtered in every election for the next three or four years. In addition, whatever it is they will have tried to jam down our throats will be overturned by the Supreme Court and it will have all been for nothing.
