oh right-this phcr belongs in a rocking chair…..and BTW Breitbart-they aren't leaders, they are representatives

EmptyV   January 11th, 2011 - 2:38 pm

I know the left was worried that Bush was going to censor everything so I am sure they will not want censorship for any reason. Just kidding, government and the ruling class wants full control over everything.

gwar5   January 11th, 2011 - 2:38 pm

Censorship will never happen and the marxists will only hurt themselves more by acting more totalitarian based on the act of a crazy man.

Any sponsored legislation will purposefully be vague enough so liberals can selectively define what is censored. They fool no one.

He is part of the Democratic leadership in the house, I'm sure Breitbart was referencing his title.

DontTreadOnMe   January 11th, 2011 - 2:40 pm

Was Clyburn absent during the reading of The Constitution? "Cause I think he needs a refresher on that whole "freedom of speech" concept. At least the Dems have been collared and they can't pass anymore legislation without reading it first-
Maybe Clyburn can be dumped in 2012 and his little princess too.

EmptyV   January 11th, 2011 - 2:40 pm

Keep thinking it will never happen, cause if you think it wont, it can't possibly happen.

Fight for your freedom people, don't let this happen!

The age of Obama. Truth=lies, order=disorder. "They" want to silence anyone who opposes them, because in a free market place, Progressive ideas will be placed in history's trash bin, not on the nightly news.

We also remember images long after the words are gone. This video documents the reasons for and destruction of Marc Rubin’s masterful portrait of Barack Obama in 2009 after the NEA was hijacked by Obama and his progressive operatives. Its called "Catharsis" Watch the video, and you might have a catharsis too.

Phuck you Clyburn.

freedomliberty13   January 11th, 2011 - 2:42 pm

The libs are trying all their old "plays" from their age-old playbooks (i.e., conservatives are heartless, selfish and dangerous). They are puzzled that it's not working like it used to. They are figuring out that internet blogs, talk radio and Fox News prevents them from monopolizing the disemination of critical information. The days of only Walter Cronkite & Dan Rather are long gone.

They can't beat us in debates or elections anymore so they are trying to shut us up. However, they are finding that it's very hard to "put the toothpaste back in the tube." People are wise to their old tactics now.

Whats_Up   January 11th, 2011 - 2:43 pm

Let's be honest here, Clyburn …it IS and HAS BEEN the MSM in NEED of some censorship by reporting nothing BUT mean spirited HATE speech. Get you FACTS straight …how about just getting some facts – PERIOD.

RobertB   January 11th, 2011 - 2:45 pm

So I guess everyone should call Clyburn a "moron" now before it becomes a crime.

LIBERALS ARE HYPOCRITES AND CONTROL FREAKS.

Ex-Rep. Paul Kanjorski, D-Pa., penned an op-ed in the New York Times today about the proper political response to this weekend's tragedy. He calls for CIVILITY!

BUT! Back on 23 October 2010?

"That Scott down there that's running for governor of Florida," Mr. Kanjorski said. "Instead of running for governor of Florida, they ought to have him and shoot him. Put him against the wall and shoot him. He stole billions of dollars from the United States government and he's running for governor of Florida. He's a millionaire and a billionaire. He's no hero. He's a damn crook. It's just we don't prosecute big crooks."

So when they ban verbal threats against people, then, carrying out the action will no longer happen?

THINK ABOUT THAT FOR A MINUTE!!!

The mask slips and the gibbering fascist underneath is revealed.

Thale_Taxurfeet   January 11th, 2011 - 2:49 pm

Seems that tragedies such as the one in Arizona this past weekend always result in the totalitarians crawling out of the woodwork to propose new/improved legislation to further restrict liberty, which, btw, will not be enforced on any but the law abiding peasantry.

We must just say no ,and loudly, to our elected representatives. In 665 days we can vote in a majority who will respect the US Constitution and can be persuaded to undo the mess created by the overachieving and extra-Constitutional regulatory bodies.

In the interim, we remain vigilant and maintain a hold the line tactic.

Makahala   January 11th, 2011 - 2:51 pm

The libs are freaking Fascists. They can go to hell!!!!

Navy Gentleman   January 11th, 2011 - 2:51 pm

There is not going to be any censorship.

They are not taking away our rights.

Period.

Try it and your days in politics will be over quickly.

John_Campbell   January 11th, 2011 - 2:52 pm

Latest antigun agenda effort. Make carrying a firearm within a certain distance of anything an everything into a crime. There'll be an excuse for every last bit of it and if you dare oppose you'll be labeled a would-be criminal, racist, hate monger, whatever these leftist trash can conjure. Overlap of areas assures any gun owner is a criminal by virtue of existence. No attempt to destroy our freedom, liberty, form of government, will be left overlooked. Second Amendment be damned and who cares what the U.S. Supreme court has already said. The response we all know we can fully expect.

12963   January 11th, 2011 - 2:52 pm

how about censoring Slander, The left is slandering the Right with no evidence.

DrEdu   January 11th, 2011 - 2:54 pm

Of course he would ask for this.

The liberal agenda has fallen on its face and the people (once seduced by the leftist agenda) are leaving their ranks by the thousands.

What is there to do? Create a fictitious 'crisis' to stampede in some ‘law’ that will muzzle the few media outlets that remain free.
THAT is the TRUE GOAL.

Meanwhile, as a member of a Minority (I am a Latino) I DEMAND A PUBLIC APOLOGY TO GOVERNOR SARAH PALIN by all these hate mongers who accused her without any base.

Navy Gentleman   January 11th, 2011 - 2:54 pm

Agree.

rogue operator   January 11th, 2011 - 2:56 pm

If the left's starts censoring criticism, it will just make the climate more incendiary, not less. The leftists are trying to provoke the right so that they can scapegoat it. These people are sick and dangerous. God, I hope we can make it to 2012 before some huge manufactured crisis. My gut tells me the leftists will keep pushing and pushing until something snaps.

THE DNC HAD BULLS EYES ON THEIR WEBSITE IN THE PAST. POLITICIANS HAVE BEEN "FIGHTING FOR, AIMING AT AND TARGETING" FOR AS LONG AS THERE HAVE BEEN FREE SOCIETIES. BEFORE THAT, YOU JUST HAD KINGS AND QUEENS AND YOU EITHER COMPLIED OR DIED.

EVERY STATE THAT HAS RELAXED GUN LAWS HAS REDUCED CRIME. THIS IS A FACT. LIBERALS ARE TRULY SCARY BECAUSE FACTS MEAN NOTHING TO THEM.

Liberty1886   January 11th, 2011 - 2:57 pm

John_Campbell   January 11th, 2011 - 2:58 pm

Wait a second! Hold the phones! I just thought of something. Suppose these wackos came up with a law that says you cannot posses a firearm with "X" feet of an elected official. Could we not then demand that elected officials cannot be allowed near any member of the citizenry who is or might be in possession of a firearm as in doing so would violate their right to keep and bear arms? This could be fun! :o D

It's pretty bad when the control of a nation by a small group revolves around families and not even a political party in general. I thought we would see the last Kennedy off with a farewell to political dynasty but I guess it was just handed over to a more repugnant group.

The United States Constitution:

Amendment 1
"Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press; or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the Government for a redress of grievances."

Amendment 2
"A well regulated Militia, being necessary to the security of a free State, the right of the people to keep and bear Arms, shall not be infringed"

The Congressional Oath of Office per the Constitution, Article VI

"I do solemnly swear (or affirm) that I will support and defend the Constitution of the United States against all enemies, foreign and domestic; that I will bear true faith and allegiance to the same; that I take this obligation freely, without any mental reservation or purpose of evasion; and that I will well and faithfully discharge the duties of the office on which I am about to enter. So help me God."

Representative Clyburn is an enemy of the Bill of Rights, and is in violation of his solemn oath.

If you enthusiastically support the Constitution, your government already considers you a domestic terror threat. My inverted United States Flag avatar, commonly recognized as a symbol of national distress, not as an affront to the Republic, makes me a terror threat. But, if I object to being labeled a threat, I am a greater threat still, because I am now "anti-government".

CONGRESS SHALL MAKE NO LAW RESPECTING AN ESTABLISHMENT OF RELIGION, EXCEPT FOR RADICAL ENVIRONMENTALISM, OR PROHIBITING THE FREE EXERCISE THEREOF, UNLESS IT OFFENDS THE SENSIBILITIES OF ATHEISTS OR OTHER NON-CHRISTIANS; OR ABRIDGING THE FREEDOM OF SPEECH, UNLESS IT COULD BE PERCEIVED AS "THREATENING" BY POLITICIANS, OR OF THE PRESS, UNLESS IT FAILS TO ADHERE TO LEFT-WING ORTHODOXY; OR OF THE RIGHT OF THE PEOPLE PEACEABLY TO ASSEMBLE, UNLESS IT'S THOSE CRAZY "TEABA**ERS" AGAIN, AND TO PETITION THE GOVERNMENT FOR A REDRESS OF GRIEVANCE, THOUGH THE CITIZENRY SHOULD NOT EXPECT IT TO PAY HEED TO THEIR DESIRES.

CFR limits free speech just before elections — When free speech is needed most.

Also in CFR – Groups are severely limited as well. Sounds ok? Question: What are groups made of? Answer: Individuals of like thought on specific issues. But individuals on their own have limited resources to be heard so they form groups. But CFR limits groups before elections.

John_Campbell   January 11th, 2011 - 3:36 pm

There is one more point on your statement to consider. At some point, when only action is left due to everything else being outlawed, it won't be the mentally unstable who defer to action. I'd sooner think that the garbage being pushed by the left now is a preemptive move to lay blame on anyone but themselves for when that day comes. In fact, it's not much of a stretch, if any, to make the observation that the left is engaged in the promotion of such an event.

Think about it. The would-be dictator attempting to brow beat and condemn those who refuse to be dictated to.

It's all a matter of perspective. If you're a leftist then it's because you're not doing the right thing and accepting the government dictate no matter what it might be. How dare you disagree with the great government god?

If you're a conservative it's because there's trouble and a call for help is being raised. Of course I have to wonder how supporting the Constitution somehow translates to anti-government when we the people, as prescribed by the founders themselves, well establishes that we the people are in fact the government. It's the relentless attempt by leftists that desire a separation of government from the people for the purpose of ruling over the people that continually displays itself, the above video just another example.

For me personally, I do frown on the upside down flying of the colors. Keep in mind that I am formally a Militia participant myself and even with that (as the leftist media would paint a picture) I still have trouble with this rather recent application of display. That's just me.

This headline said : "Rep. James Clyburn throws his support behind censorship. Rep. Clyburn's daughter, Mignon Clyburn, is an FCC Commissioner." What this headline forget to mention is that Mignon Clyburn openly opposes her father's idea.
