People were already fed up with getting computer help from non-native English speakers – that's the #1 complaint of customers about tech support. Now customers will realize that the technicians in foreign countries, when they remotely connect to their computers are not only able to adjust settings, but can copy their personal files and release them on the internet or use them in other malicious ways. Every IT professional has understood the security risks from the beginning, but the general public will be terrified once they understand… Dell and other companies would be wise to stop this practice ASAP.

Dell can probably be held accountable for this, but the actual criminal is a citizen of India. I highly doubt he'll be punished.

If you have to store private stuff on your computer — site passwords, financial data, tax documents, smut, whatever — wall it off from all the wrong eyes. Best bet is the freeware TrueCrypt since it stores everything in what looks like an ordinary old file, but is password protected and mounts and behaves like a regular drive. Hard to detect, even harder to crack into if you use a complex password. Since the internet is anarchy, it pays to be paranoid.

As for the woman, she is a wreck. A single parent who should be FOCUSING on the raising of her daughter, providing a positive influence and being a good role model. Instead she is messing around with a boyfriend – taking nude photos which means her daughter who is very computer literate most likely saw them. Now her mom is in the news for having her nude pics put up online and most likely now that this is a news story, her male classmates have downloaded and traded the pictures. Single parents like this are the ones responsible for turning out hoochies seen on girls gone wild.

So the embarassing stuff that is in your computer can be accessed and put on line when you give someone else permission to enter your computer.
