Creepy PA Tax Amnesty Ad: ‘We Do Know Who You Are’

"Nice car, Tom."

May 2, 2010 at 8:13 pm - PA Department of Revenue
Dateline: Harrisburg, PA
Simon West   May 2nd, 2010 - 9:01 pm

Creepy? Let’s stop being nice about it and say it’s just repulsive.

Keith   May 2nd, 2010 - 9:06 pm

Creepy…it really looks like a spoof. Intimidation on many levels. They take the taxes, spend them all, and then run up debt, all with little concern for some of the most basic services to the citizens…such as border security on a National level, of adequate law enforcement against the serious crimes plaguing many of our cities. Eventually their negligence leads to catastrophe: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0LHRzxgAxRo

Thank You Mr. Obama for letting us know you know where we live. Can you tell me what type of toothbrush I use daily. I am sure you can.

we have nothing to offer but we will say the government is trying to have $ex with you.   May 2nd, 2010 - 9:13 pm

Iam surprise the death panels didn’t sneak its way into this.

When you have nothing to offer it all comes to this and they wonder why they LOSE.

Can you say..   May 2nd, 2010 - 9:13 pm

Police State? aka Obama Land

claspur   May 2nd, 2010 - 9:16 pm

Remember when We had a the wackjob liberals out breaking stuff, and making public nusances out of themselves, belly-acheing about governmental intrusions of privacy? This stuff is far worse than what Bush ever did.

Or, where’s all the NOW crowd and the multitudes of women’s rights organizations going to bat for muslim women’s rights in the ME?

Just goes to show you, they aren’t about rights, they’re only about disrupting the system to steal power to obtain tyranical control over people to enslave and liquidate.

Kek   May 2nd, 2010 - 9:18 pm

Read the fine print of the financial overall bill…Malcolm O will set up another Federal system to monitor EVERY financial transaction we make so they can analyze them and apply a tax where necessary. It the media were doing their job, this dolt would be ran out on a rail.

T3rrry   May 2nd, 2010 - 9:22 pm

Why don’t they do this with welfare recipients? “Hey, if you can afford cheesy rims and a loud stereo in your car, you will be removed from the welfare roles.”

dI-da is alpha 13   May 2nd, 2010 - 9:38 pm

I need more tinfoil.

Ellis In Culver City   May 2nd, 2010 - 9:39 pm

That will be the sort of “inducement” to make sure you’ve ponied up for your Obama-Care. The Government feels one kind of stress. Budget stress. That “Obama-care” fund will just be something to get cash in return for T Notes. Keeping all those “servant” retirement funds and special privileges well greased.

Robert   May 2nd, 2010 - 9:51 pm

When will they go after those on capital hill?

Travis   May 2nd, 2010 - 9:57 pm

Wonder why the census takers were taking GPS locations at your front door?

Now you know why.

yo14   May 2nd, 2010 - 9:58 pm

If Tom owes $4300 what about all the welfare babies? What about the people who get food stamps, section 8 housing, free daycare, medicade? See Tom the more you produce the more you owe Barack. Nevermind that your labor greatly helps the country it isn’t enough. Tom you need to pay for those that produce nothing while consuming your tax dollars, but they are cool with Barack because they vote for democrats 95% of the time. Hard working American bad, lazy welfare that votes democrat for a free bottle of booze is good.

Welcome to Barack’s world.

wilmac   May 2nd, 2010 - 10:12 pm

sounds a little insightful..i wonder if it was approved by the communist mass media czar??this administration is beyond disgusting, iam waiting for ohblahblah to take control of the drillers now.,seeing they love national disaster..like dead fish Rambo said, never let a disaster go to waste. we can use it to advance our communist leftest agenda. think of the administration as left wing radical hippie liberals, then what they do makes sense.,very dangerous ppl.,not to be believed or trusted.,

Puck30   May 2nd, 2010 - 10:17 pm

That’s Fast Eddie Rendell for ya folks. Good news is this creep can’t run again. So he’s out Jan.1. Bad News is Colburn who is the frontrunner is pretty much a RINO.

Welcome to PA, where if you produce, you pay. Become the crew that yo14 talked about, welcome!

Steve   May 2nd, 2010 - 10:19 pm

We ALL knew this was coming. GOD I hope we can fix this tragedy.

George Orwell 1984   May 2nd, 2010 - 10:42 pm

On each landing, opposite the elevator shaft, the poster with the enormous face (and big ears) gazed from the wall. It was one of those pictures which are so contrived that the eyes follow you about when you move.

BIG BROTHER IS WATCHING YOU, the caption underneath it ran.

So when are they going to confront the 90% of Obama’s administration who never got around the dealing with THEIR taxes…hmmm?

no way   May 2nd, 2010 - 10:48 pm

Fear, who in their right mind would OK this ad, someone who thinks we work for the government.

melli50   May 2nd, 2010 - 11:10 pm

Somebody has to fund the illegals and the fifty percent who don’t pay any taxes at all…i guess it’s gonna be Tom, you and me.

Welcome to the last of the last days. And Yes, Jesus does know who you are.

thefedupamerican   May 2nd, 2010 - 11:37 pm

Now now people, didn’t Obama tell U of Michigan’s graduating seniors yesterday that ‘Big Government is good’ (and that those who say that Big Government is bad are the bad ones??? Why should we fear what is implied in this ad? Big government is good…Obama said so…..sarcasm intended. God help our country! http://www.thefedupamerican.com

checkit   May 2nd, 2010 - 11:38 pm

Tom, you need to support the illegals, they need their money, so the dems will target you, to pay for them, to get thier daily needs, so that they can vote democrat.

Oh, TOM! we also need your money so that we can hire 16,000 new IRS employees so that they can go back to your house to fine you $2500 more for not having health insurance.

did they go after tim gietner like this? oh, no they gave him a blow job and a government gig instead.

Gandhi's Fist   May 3rd, 2010 - 12:05 am

Creepy? This is beyond “creepy”. We’re smack dab in the middle of Orwell’s 1984 with this. Funny thing is, you owe the state money and don’t get it there on time, you can look forward to penalties galore. If they owe you money–like NY state for example–they can sit on the check as long as they like.

November is coming folks–you know what to do…

Donald Duck   May 3rd, 2010 - 12:15 am

This is an ad campaign by the great Ed Spendell, Gov. of PA. He is trying to collect hundreds of millions of tax dollars owed to the state by delinquents. The man is a freaking idiot Democrat(a redundancy, I know) who has totally screwed up PA because he has run the state the way he ran Philadelphia as its mayor. If he knows who and where the delinquents are, why is he spending thousands of taxpayer dollars begging them to turn themselves in and pay the back taxes?? Oh yeah, and Fast Eddie is pushing even more taxes on PA because of the “stimulus” money he took from his bud, Barry the Great, for state services that the state must continue to provide even after the stimulus money is all spent in 2011. Liberals do not think about situations, they just have feelings about them and then work overtime blaming Republicans for their failures.

Reasonsjester   May 3rd, 2010 - 1:19 am

The left is fine with the police state as long as it down with its infantile socialist fantasies. Jackboots stamping on people’s faces is fine, as long as they are “compassionate” jackboots.

The totalitarian police state on the rise user Obama-Baby-Stalin.

REMEMBER IN NOVEMBER or freedom is lost.

Rob   May 3rd, 2010 - 2:09 am

If they collected all of the back taxes owed, it still wont cure the politician problem? You know “Elect me I will change things” and then it takes about a month and there accepting bribes and involved in a sex scandal.

Illuminator   May 3rd, 2010 - 4:09 am

As a programmer, I can tell you that I do not write software just so that the government can use it to harrass citizens.

Steve in Pa.   May 3rd, 2010 - 9:20 am

Pa is the worst. I use to own a bar and the Pa Government had their hands in the till at every turn. Taxes were unbelievable! A tax on everything from pool tables to video games. The PLCB is also unbelievable to work with. The rule book is 8″ thick and covers everything from too many neon signs from the same brewery in one window to the number of parking spaces available per number of tables and chairs in the establishment. Did i Mention the TAXES? And then when you fire a employee for stealing (even have proof) you will still be forced to pay their unemployment by the state. Then they drop the quota of how many licenses there are per area and the value of the liquor licenses drops by 90%. Don’t own a business in Pa.

Sai Chai   May 3rd, 2010 - 11:01 am

When I see how rapidly this nation’s “leaders” have begun to embrace a totalitarian political philosophy, it makes me physically sick. I never believed Americans would ever let their government get so out of hand.

From the local to the state to the federal level, we are toast.

PA Lefty   May 3rd, 2010 - 2:18 pm

That’s Fast Eddie for ya’ll. He is deep in debt so he says, hasn’t paid matching retirement for state employees for years, cheats them out of their pay checks when the budget isn’t passed on time, wants to collect state taxes on yard sales and flea markets, and is sitting on a HUGE rainy day fund.

Why not go after the tax cheats? At least they owe something to PA. Only question I have is how much did this cost me and what is the ROI?

Jared L. Ohlinger (L-PA)   May 3rd, 2010 - 2:20 pm

Your name is Ed… you live at 2035 North Front Street Harrisburg, PA 17102… your phone number is (717) 787-1965… you played an active role in defrauding the entire nation by covering tracks for your commie friends in Washington… there’s a term for that Ed… it’s called treason…

Have a good day Ed… “We Do Know Who You Are”…

ApatheticNoMore   May 3rd, 2010 - 2:23 pm

I had the opportunity to see and hear Sam Rohrer over the weekend. As you may or may not know, Sam is the Republican canidate NOT backed by the Republican Comittee. IMO, Sam is the REAL DEAL. He repeatedly refered to the Constitution as if he has read and understands it. He unabashedly talks of God and his family. Won’t take contributions from “Big Gambling”. “Big Education”, or any other “Big”. And actually has viable plans to pull us back from the abyss. Compared to Tom Corbett, well… there is no comparison. Zilch, zero, nada! Don’t take my word… look him up. His web site, Google, RedState.com.

Ron Reale   May 3rd, 2010 - 2:24 pm

AND, while you are paying through the nose, realize that muslims do not have to pay for their health care, they are exempt. We will pay for them, which is part of our subjugation to their superiority. The ONE has enslaved us, by law, to pay for them, BECAUSE OF THEIR RELIGION!
Look it up, fellow infidel slaves.
Then ask your representatives, (who don’t care a whit about you), why the “separation of church and state” does not apply in this matter?
If they don’t want to pay, they should not be covered, period.
“REMEMBER IN NOVEMBER!”, vote every one of them out, regardless of party, get rid of every one of them to show WE are in charge!

WELCOME TO OBAMA LAND!! WE KNOW HOW YOU ARE TOO MF ERS CANT WAIT TILL NOVEMBER!!!!!!! TAKE AMERICA BACK

Tom   May 3rd, 2010 - 2:29 pm

Maybe we should put the Pennsylvania Department of Revenue in charge of border security and immigration. They know where you are, can demand your papers and can intimidate you with the liberals cheering them on.

Yukkione   May 3rd, 2010 - 2:33 pm

Listen you knee jerk reactionaries….Obama has nothing to do with this. Secondly the government has always known where you are… should you be so shocked that a clever ad comes out saying it?

Rendell inherited a 2.4 BILLION dollar deficit from his Republican predecessor…he cut spending, and invested in infrastructure. Going after delinquent taxes is prudent and correct.

TinyGOPballs   May 3rd, 2010 - 2:36 pm

Catherine: BTW Middle class Americans pay a lower portion of the tax burden than at anytime in the last 44 years. Are you being a shill for the wealthy?

Scott   May 3rd, 2010 - 2:36 pm

PAY YOUR TAXES!!!

I’m talking to you, in the shadows… over in the corner.

WHERE IS MY REFUND CHECK? YOU KEEP DELAYING. GIVE ME MY MONEY.

Dave   May 3rd, 2010 - 2:36 pm

This is exactly why I left PA. Overtaxed, on too many levels, and those tax raising government services seem to be the only things properly funded in that messed up state. I was born there but would never live there again. You cant drive 10 feet without a pothole that knocks fillings loose in your teeth, but odds are, there’s 2 speeding cops in that same 10 ft of road. Even after being notified for 5 years straight that we no longer lived there, the state repeatedly tried to harrass and threaten me into paying fees, fines, and taxes. Nice to see that even after going totally broke, they still haven’t learned a thing.

edly   May 3rd, 2010 - 2:42 pm

Nothing wrong with a police state…………If you’re the police.

steveohh   May 3rd, 2010 - 2:44 pm

WHAT KIND OF SICKO CAME UP W/ THIS AD?!

Y’know what? We know where you live PA politicians. And when we come to YOUR door, it ain’t gonna be with a briefcase and clipboard.

What in God’s name is going on here? Was this meant to be funny? Whoever approved this ad should be fired and banished to Chicago…where he/she should feel right at home. This ad is CRIMINAL.

We are losing our America, folks.

StaticKlingon   May 3rd, 2010 - 2:47 pm

Excellent ad. I hope this one will catch on in all of the blue states.

Aquaman   May 3rd, 2010 - 2:48 pm

If they know where ‘everybody’ is, ‘everybody’ needs to join a coalition that votes whether the federal gov’t receives its tax dollars in April. Let’s see how big the government gets if it has to make all its money selling GM vehicles and health insurance. Just an idea.

fastfacts   May 3rd, 2010 - 2:48 pm

Interesting who was blamed for violence and using swastikas and the word “Nazi”… the Tea party. But what about the left. These illegals and their supporters are breaking the law and proud of it. They are showing violence and using nazi and swastikas and are they reported on this… no.

Check out the politics of this immigration bill on: http://www.americanparchment.com/library/obama_arizona_immigration.html. The illegals have no footing to stand on, they are illegal and the bill was even rewritten to be ‘fair.’

Yukkione   May 3rd, 2010 - 2:50 pm

steveohh: You may be getting a visit from the FBI if you keep talking like some militia wack job. So people shouldn’t pay their taxes? I’m sure they used the states resources. Letting people know they will face penalties for non payment of taxes is wrong? Seriously? When in American history did anyone ever not have to pay their taxes?

The Highwayman   May 3rd, 2010 - 2:52 pm

The “public service” racket has it easy. You do the work. They take your money. It’s time to complicate things. Start with the tax-eaters and the tax-collectors. You know where they live.

StaticKlingon   May 3rd, 2010 - 2:54 pm

HAHAHA Very funny edly.
And nothing wrong with robbing Peter to pay Paul if your name happens to be Paul.

Edly   May 3rd, 2010 - 3:00 pm

I’ve said this before, but if taxpayers want to get the attention of the government, quit giving them your money every week. Raise your deductions to the maximum. Then pay quarterly or even just once a year, with a small penalty. I strongly suspect that if half the population quit allowing the government to use their money interest free all year it would get their attention.

StaticKlingon   May 3rd, 2010 - 3:01 pm

“You may be getting a visit from the FBI if you keep talking like some militia wack job.”

Good job yukkione! And thanks for an excellent example of the next obvious step
in the intimidation strategy…..the Brown Shirts will be out in force with their little pad and pencils, reminding the disobedient that they will be reported for their insolence. Keep up the good work yukki. This can’t happen without the participation of useful idiots in the field!

edly   May 3rd, 2010 - 3:03 pm

Static, You are correct sir.

RDH   May 3rd, 2010 - 3:07 pm

Relax. This is aimed at tax cheaters. As for you Democrats, it’s about time someone did something about the the members of the party that taxes but do not pay taxes. And you only have yourselves to blame. In particular, Tim Geithner, Tom Daschle, Charlie Rangle and so many others that can easily be found by going to google and entering “Obama nominee”.

Michael K   May 3rd, 2010 - 3:07 pm

Can anyone say 1984? This has reached a point that is far beyond out of control. WE THE PEOPLE

W. L. Kelly   May 3rd, 2010 - 3:08 pm

OK Everyone, extend thanks for this program to one more Democratic Governor Tax Collector, Mr. Ed Rendell. Wise up, folks. The Democrats are coming for every last dime you have and THEY will dispense what you get. Father Government is in charge of your lives—–Rendell in PA and Obama in the USA. Get used to it or vote smart in November. Kick every last one of them who has been in office for four years or more, out the door. Take back our country.

Michael K   May 3rd, 2010 - 3:09 pm

Can anyone say 1984? This has reached a point that is far beyond out of control. WE THE PEOPLE NEED TO STAND UP AND TAKE OUR GOVERNMENT BACK, THEY SPEND OUR MONEY LIKE IT GROWS ON TREES AND THEN THEY HAVE THE AUDACITY TO RUN SOMETHING LIKE THAT? THEY SEND OUR JOBS OVERSEAS, RESTRICT BUSINESS, PASS NAFTA, AND THEY WONDER WHY PEOPLE CAN NOT PAY THEIR TAXES? WAKE UP AMERICA WE ARE LIVING IN 1774 AND IT IS TIME TO MAKE A STAND.

MarkD   May 3rd, 2010 - 3:10 pm

You inbred Pennsylvanians just need to pay your friggin taxes! The rest of America is tired of paying for Mutha’s largess.

gram   May 3rd, 2010 - 3:12 pm

Of course they “Know who you are” ..Most of them are employed by the Obama administration…

LucidThought   May 3rd, 2010 - 3:13 pm

That is one of the most disturbing things I’ve ever seen. And they wonder how and why the Tea Party ever got started.

StaticKlingon   May 3rd, 2010 - 3:15 pm

“When in American history did anyone ever not have to pay their taxes?”

A far better question to ask is: When in American history were people who
work forced at gunpoint to support those who don’t want to? Or those who illegally wander across the border for that matter?

Eric   May 3rd, 2010 - 3:20 pm

GOOD! Expose the DEADBEATS that are living at the expense of every other hard working taxpayer.

Birddie   May 3rd, 2010 - 3:24 pm

That’s creeptastic. Do you think they can find Geithner & Rangel while they’re at it…oh I forgot that as long as you’re powerful enough, you’re above the law & “too big to fail”. This is what happens when we leave the Constitution. Under the Constitution we’re a nation of LAWS, not men. Now we’re a nation of men, not laws…men who get away with anything. Come on Dems who shouted about how wrong Bush was for his Big Brother ways! Bush was wrong and this is wrong. Where are you now?
That was a very disturbing, unnecessary commercial. Sure people must pay their taxes and be held accountable if they don’t, but you don’t threaten US citizens like they’re in the movie 1984. Their state has probably spent themselves into oblivion and now they’re after cash nearly any way they can get it. Hopefully the people of PA will speak up while they still can…

Africanus   May 3rd, 2010 - 3:24 pm

“Well you bitter clingers (You who cling onto your own HARD EARNED dollars) better start ponying on up for even more guns ammo and bibles because the blacks and hispanics in the cities are being whipped up by OBummer to come on down HARD on whitey!”

There are plenty of Blacks and Hispanics who also cling to guns and bible simply because of those in their neighborhood who think they are entitled will help themselves to their property. They just need to be reached, unfortunately Michael Steele probably thinks putting out his own rap album is the way to do it.

BillofRights   May 3rd, 2010 - 3:25 pm

Hmmm 1984 is here with “hope and change”. Since they know where tom is do they also know where dead beat dad laurence “ice tea” or laquitia is for welfare fraud? what about pedro gonzales? or what of akeem….or abdul or everyone’s LEAST favourite…hassin or muhammad? guess they only use the “other folks” names now. PA is afraid to use laquitia cause “dats” racial profiling but using “tom” isnt. States Rights now!!!

Fred17   May 3rd, 2010 - 3:28 pm

Good grief! I don’t doubt the Feds know where we are. But why do many of these people yak about Obama and company. This ad is a PENNSYLVANIA ad! I haveno objection to going after tax cheats; and it is cheaper to get them to come in and pay via a program like this. I do object to the way the government blows our money (with some sticking to political fingers along the way). We don’t see ads on how much spending is being cut,do we?

Rock   May 3rd, 2010 - 3:28 pm

If this is real then we have entered a new level of imitation. The fact that public officials have, or see no problem with running such a 1984 Orwell type threat is a sign that they feel quite comfortable in a role as dictators rather than public servants. On the other hand now the voters know who and what they are faced with. So its either sheep to the slaughter, or grab the whip and put these thugs in the unemployment line.

Patriot   May 3rd, 2010 - 3:30 pm

Hey Yukkione;

You are really missing the point here. How would you like the goverment to do an ad like this about you for some offense (real or perceived, criminal or political) and paint a blinking target on your home? If that is not a problem with you, go to North Korea and live like the slave you are.

As for knowing all along where we lived, yes, the goverment always had our addressess. But now our homes are being catalogued by GPS. That is significant. It is so much easier for a “person from the government” to locate you now. Your address does not have to be translated into several different languages in order for non-English speaking persons to find you. What’s that, you say? The govermennt would never use foreign (i.e. “U.N.”) troops to enforce laws on American citizens? Really? Really?
Staty tuned . . .

RIZZ917   May 3rd, 2010 - 3:38 pm

Wow! I’m so warm and fuzzy inside knowing that the all mighty federal government is going to take care of my every need. So happy that my state will send people to my door one day with promises of love and hope to match those charming chrome bracelets all the Police seem to carry. Why… aren’t you just so happy that liberals will save us all from ourselves and make all the world a really happy place to live in again? I know I am!

Though an host should encamp against me, my heart shall not fear: though war should rise against me, in this will I be confident.

Only way this national travesty will be corrected “peacefully” is for the people in each state in every state, that is in all 50 states.

We all need to pass a law to amend our own State Constitutions that the “people reserve the right to discontinue any further support of the federal government, provide tax revenues to the same as long as the federal government refuses to stop overspending the peoples money beyond the budgetary requirements to maintain a balanced budget”.

We are bankrupt and the government doesn’t care that it is destroying the family’s financial futures and their wealth, their financial heritage of our children and the peoples own retirement funds promised to them through the Social Security System.
Keep voting for people who believe like Barack Obama of spreading the wealth and watch yourself go bankrupt.

If Pennsylvania authorities really knew who “they” were, wouldn’t they have collected the taxes by now?

The Revenuers want their money Tom! Acc. to J. Keneth Galbraith our Republic is indeed dead: “There is a widespread notion that one of the most primitive of modern ideological choices is whether a government shall be Keynesian or not . . . no present or future administration really has the non-Keynesian choice.” Regardless of which political party is in office, the nature of this political economic system, once it was implemented, became self-perpetuating. It moves the country toward a self-socializing form of government regardless of the desires of the People of this country and even our elected representatives.
There should be no doubt as to the direction the Keynesian, Neo-Keynesian and Post-Keynesian ideologies are taking this country. As Paul A. Samuelson stated: “[Fascist Regimes] have often passed socialistic measures. This is not a paradox at all, for fascism was (or is) a form of socialism similar to British socialism, or to the managed-currency, welfare state proposed by American Keynesians.” Keynesian lunacy has run rampant in our country and still, to this very day, influences our government in ways that few understand. According to these ideologues, government spending, obviously of any type, stimulates private employment and economic stability, yet it is all financed through taxing or inflationary monetary policy which drains and strains the entire “private sector” within the mixed economy. As we have seen, this government, along with its partner in managed finance: the Federal Reserve Bank, has effectively manufactured the monetary system needed to achieve the socialization of this country, without the use of a fiat monetary system none of this would be possible.

That’s not creepy, that’s not repulsive- it’s a great ad- get the non payers, get those owning student loans, child support etc. sick of the freeloaders in society- use the real google earth so the neighbors know that their rich neighbor’s new car was paid for by the neighbors who do pay taxes- no more tax amnesty- garnishment for all who owe (not just in PA)

Truth is, I don’t scare easy! Most of you Americans are easily scared into submissive obedience, I do not! If you can’t show me the law that makes me liable for an income tax then I am not going to volunteer like the rest of you cowards that file every year out of fear of the government henchmen! Scare tactics are the tool of bullies and tyrrants! Will you stand up to the bullies? I didn’t think so! THERE IS NO LAW! There can’t be, not wwhile the US Constitution exists! Remain ignorant and cowardly declare that you have to file and pay because you are too steeped in fear to admit the truth!

The best way to avoid taxes is not to incur tax liabilities in the first place. If you keep your income small enough, you won’t owe taxes. If a small income doesn’t buy you the quality of life you desire, there are numerous social programs which you can avail yourself. It is just silly incur tax liabilities when you flat out don’t have to!
