FINALLY, when so many people have been afraid of speaking the honest truth for fear of lawsuits, unpopularity or any other kind of retribution, these five brave individuals had the guts to do the right thing. They will certainly take plenty of heat for it, but to punish people because some were not able to qualify is simply wrong. Thank goodness there are still some people with a backbone in the high court. With the way our country is moving, we need them.

Good Job. Reverse Discrimination has been a problem for a long time. Twenty five years ago I worked through a temp agency. When a permanent job came up, it was between me and a black woman. I am not a racist, but she was worthless and everyone knew it. I could literally get four times as much work done as her. But the company was doing a lot of government contracts, and she filled the spot of two minorities….blacks and women. When she got the job, our co-workers were disgusted.
This was a no brainer and still had four judges dissenting???
Socialists, don’t be disheartened. Your racist judge may still get the confirmation with the help of the Obama Magic Factory. How corrupt can they get……………….
By the way, I’m a liberal, in spite of my story above. I do not agree with using reverse discrimination to try to fight discrimination.
Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg said the white firefighters “understandably attract this court’s sympathy. But they had no vested right to promotion.”
With all due respect, Justice Ginsburg is loony. The firefighters passed the same objective test that other non-white men have passed.

I don’t expect most people on this web site to know why if they have had no training in law.
Lower courts do not have the duty to anticipate the Supreme Court’s new legal interpretations. Their responsibility is to apply the law as it stands when cases are before them.
Sotomayor,will still be confirmed to take Souter’s place on SCOTUS.

Liberals are not bothered by reverse discrimination and Affirmative Action practices, because

This woman is not high court material – just a political appointment. 60% of her appeals court decisions are reversed on appeal.

The only thing that amazes me is that they won the case – obviously there are 4 judges who think it is OK to discriminate against whites. That will probably change if the racist Sotomayor gets on the court. Then I guess you will be happy and it will be OK to discriminate against a person who is white.
Sure, we don’t want FIREFIGHTERS that get promoted because of MERIT! We want a “rainbow” of firefighters to save lives while risking their own, because the fit a quota. It takes a multicolored spectrum of firefighters to run INTO a burning builing instead of OUT OF IT, don’t white racists inderstand that? The death of this country will be P.C. garbage. The BEST PERSON for the job should GET THE JOB! Sotomayor is OBVIOUSLY NOT THE BEST PERSON for the job she is up for, just more poor decision making by Hussein Obama.
Well,the high court really goofed on this call,you see,Sotomayor is a “wise Latina woman” who knows what’s best for us in America(even if the decision discriminates against those awfully unwise Caucasian males that know nothing about democracy).
Called this when I first heard about it. Discrimination of any kind, against any racial group–even folks in the majority–is racism. By extension and practice Sotomayor is a racist. She’s given multiple speeches deriding “white men” and, unfailingly makes racist judgment after racist judgment. She is the worst SCOTUS nominee in modern times, possibly ever. If a white male nominee made a statement to the effect that “the experience of wise white men would be superior to that of a latina,” that would be the end of his career, yet this is the fertilizer she launches her’s on.
Also, I’m still convinced she may be Hugo Chavez in drag.
One more thing. If, in fact, it had been only the firefighters of color who passed the test, but didn’t get the promotion, what do you think would have happened? If you take it from this perspective, it is easy to see how loony the left really is. Further, R.B. Ginsberg is a judicial nut job. As an attorney for the ACLU (an un-American group if ever there was one) she advocated for pedophiles and their right to molest boys as young as 12 years old. It’s on record–look it up. She’s scum and so is Sotomayor. For her to dissent on this ruling means–of course–the other judges rulings was absolutely correct and followed, to the letter the intent and text of the constitution.
This in no way will affect her confirmation. Choke on it!
Either you pass the test, or you don’t. Pretty simple. Should we dumb down job requirements across the board? I didn’t go to college because I couldn’t afford it. Should I sue because I can’t be president of IBM?
So, if she is confirmed to the Supreme Court, then there won’t be a higher authority to overturn her prejudice judgements? Ah! Hmmm!

And, in the meantime, I will add the finishing touches to my Michael Jackson shrine in my basement. I bought a lock of his hair on Ebay over the weekend and it arrived today – only paid $1575 for it! Such an incredible find!
Later tonight, I’ll be attending a seance with some friends in hopes of making contact with Michael’s dearly departed spirit. We are trying to determine the true circumstances surrounding his death.
I have personally contacted both Jesse Jackson and Al Sharpton in regards to Michael’s passing. The world is owed an explanation for this wonderful man’s untimely death. I personally think he was the victim of a right-wing conspiracy to destroy a black man that had risen to the top in his profession.
