The Founding fathers knew that the population of this country would grow and they allowed for that representation to grow in the house in our constitution, we just havent followed it, because it is “incovenient” – well look at what we have! Trent Lott was likely referring to Strom’s position on the 10th Amendment and the manner in which politicians have raped the Constitution. Did anyone both asking Lott what he “meant” by his comment? I can’t find it anywhere in my search.

Also, Ann’s point was about Dems giving Dems a pass; she’s spot on that if a Republican said anything, Dems would be all over that individual. Anyone remember why George Allen became a non-candidate? I am wandering the streets with my lamp looking for this Reverend’s Church..Can anyone point me to the right way? I am looking to use my lamp to light up his weekly service from his pulpit but I can’t seem to find his church. I thought all “Reverends” had a church where people came to worship and listen to the Reverend’s weekly sermon.

Where is this man’s church? So far, I suppose it must be at the TV stations since every Sunday he seems deliver his “sermons” from the studios of some TV station. I suppose these TV stations are his church now, and the studio is his puplit, because I can’t seem to find him in any real brick and mortar church on any given Sunday.

The Democrats always try to brand the Republicans as racists because the formerly segregationist Democrat South now votes Republican. Yet during the Civil War, the non-slaveholder Democrats in the North were against the war, and wanted to allow the South to continue slavery without interference. In the 1864 election, the Democrat platform was to immediately end the Civil War and recognize the Confederate States as a separate country. These pro-slavery Northern Democrats formed a significant minority in the North, approximately 40%, and were a thorn in Lincoln’s side. Some were so seditious that they had to be imprisoned or forcibly deported to Canada. Later on, in the 1930s, the Davis-Bacon Act was put in place by Democrats to prevent Southern blacks from taking jobs from Northern Democrat union members. Those same Northern Democrats – and Democrats everywhere – still want to enslave the blacks through government programs and pork, rather than through direct bondage.

Now, after 40 years of government assistance programs the differential is staggering, ten times in most categories. Programs “intended” to make up the 5% have instead widened the gap and in the process virtually destroyed two generations of black people.

Let’s face it the Democratic Party has not had a very good history when it comes to treating blacks equally or looking at them like equals. They parade themselves around as the party of equality and civil rights but there really is only a small period of time in the 1960’s where they actually took part in pushing forward the idea of equality but even then it was done with the intention to grab a voting block. I mean LBJ was a known racist and his mentor and best friend Richard Russell, who was a high up in the Democratic Party, was a strict segregationist. Prior to that Democrats were mainly made up of segregationists and even before that in the 1800’s it was southern democrats that owned the slaves and southern democrats that fought for the Confederates. Post 1960 inorder to secure more minority votes they pushed for even more inequality in the form of affirmative action and forced quotas in the work place. It is obvious to me that they have duped a large portion of the African-American community to think that they as a party are really looking out for their best interests when in reality they look at them as a people that cannot compete on an equal playing field. Everything they do they do to get a vote, plain and simple.

I understand the “dialect” term. 99% of the time, I can tell if it is a black man talking to me on the phone, etc. There are some instances where I was unaware, but I can tell most times. Typically it is not the sound, but the words they choose to use, how they annunciate them, etc. Hey, my fathers family hailed from Texas, and everyone around could pin-point them.

Most people miss the real issue. The insult, and a grave one at that, it to white America. What Reid is saying is that a dark-skinned, culturally black speaking Afro American is not acceptable to white America. Only those that are “almost white”. Joe Biden said exactly the same thing. Ah, can’t let a good crisis go to waste. This is a great distraction from healthcare, global warming and illegal immigration. I am originally from the south, and have had many black friends, and I’ve never been afraid to talk to them about black/white issues. I asked them, are you black, African American or what? I was actually told (by the elderly blacks only) that they call themselves Negro. They aren’t black, and damn sure not African American. I can’t tell you why they call themselves that, perhaps as a way to relate to being from American slavery, but they aren’t african, and don’t appreciate that term. They want to be referred to as Negro.

However, it takes away from the larger picture here, which is that no one is really that offended by this. I’m as conservative as they come, and my eyes are going to pop out of my head, because I have been rolling them so much over this being made into such issue. All this is about now is not Reid, Negros, Ann Coulter, Trent Lott, or anyone else- it’s about who wants to be right, and who wants to control the conversation, and whose opinion is right and where people stand on such an issue of race. It’s not about the issues of race at all. All this is, is political posturing from both sides of the aisle. The Democrats will defend, saying he apologized, and never meant it, and get their base riled up to be mad at the republicans. The republicans are going to pounce, and get their base to pounce. It’s just a game. Meanwhile, in African American/Black/Negro America, people went to work today, did their grocery shopping, ran arrands, and probably just shook their heads at the nonsense. Because at the end of the day, each of us- in particular the black community- knows that there really are bigger fish to fry than this!

But y’all go ahead and make this into a big deal. These politicians are loving it, because you people chose to stay divided, rather than saying, “He said something dumb again,” and moving on. And not for anything, but do you really think that in seven days- one week from today, we’ll still be treating this as if it’s SUCH a huge issue? So what Trent Lott resigned. So what about a double standard- as if no one knew that didn’t exist.

But this is politics, and the politics are working against the people. We are giving the power to these pundits and politicians to control the debate- willingly- and playing right into this crap. This is not important. What’s important is that in Berkely California, they are taking science labs out of schools because black kids do badly in them. Rather than elevate that black population, and educate them better in the sciences, they are just taking them away, and taking them away from every other kid who may do well. No Rocket Scientists- of any color- will come from Bezerkely. THAT is a real racial issue. Not some stupid politician who said something stupid.

I think what Clinton said is more offensive than anything Reid or Sharpton said regarding the word negro. Basically Clinton refers to the black man as a “step and fetch it”. Gee…our history books seem to have left that tidbit out in our High Schools for some reason.

I cannot see where the Democrat party has done any good for the black community, but the black community has certainly kept these loons in power by being a nearly solid voting block for them. If blacks knew more about history, i.e. like President Lincoln was a Republican, or that the Democrats did their best to block civil rights legislation, they might not be so quick to jump on the Donkey’s bandwagon. But then education isn’t what it used to be.

The particularly egregious thing about the comment of Reid is the fact of the double standard. If a conservative were to have said the same thing, the press and the administration would be calling for his resignation, if not his head on a platter. People do make mistakes and some are actually fighting a lifetime of prejudicial influences that on occasion will slip out. The difference is that liberals (those tolerant liberals) are quick to forgive their own, especially if it advances an agenda, and just as quick to attack and/or destroy a conservative guilty of the same “crime”, if possible driving them out of office.

Sharpton is so disingenuous as to be irrelevant. The only one who takes his opinion seriously anymore is Geraldo, who’s also irrelevant.

Why should anyone be surprised about the double standard. Thank god for people like Ann to point this out. The libs in this country are a pack of hippocrites when it comes to racism. What is wrong with this congress. Why is it ok for the reverend sharp to talk bad about Romeney whos religion is a Mormon and he sits there and stands up for Harry Reid who also is a mormon.
