As a 40 year law enforcement veteran and now retired I am absolutely incredulous that any law enforcement agency would engage is such a program as "Fast and Furious". To knowingly and intentionally provide functional firearms to established offenders with the historical violence that drug dealers are known to harbor is not just negligence it is gross negligence and criminally negligent. How in the world such a program could be sanctioned by the supervisory chain within an agency completely escapes me. I can assure you all that had any local agency (state , county or municipal) engaged in such a scheme with the same results, i.e. the death of other officers or citizens the same Federal Department of Justice that is now on the defense would be indicting those local officials for their involvement and justifiably so. Regardless of whether one agrees with Holders politics – he is an educated man and he knows full well that this program was beyond criminally reckless. And it is pure nonsense to suggest that it takes months and months of investigations to determine who was responsible for this. That simply isn't true. The DOJ is dealing with an internal departmental investigation with full and immediate access to all the records, files, documents, e-mails, personnel, telephone and video recordings, etc., that were related to this operation. This is not a purely external matter where investigators must tediously track down and/or develope non-police witnesses, data, evidence, etc., , such as they would have to do in an organized crime investigation or a civil rights matter or something similar. Holder is stalling. And he is stalling this thing out so nothing about this horrid mess is exposed until AFTER Obamas election. He knows darn well even as he sits there who is responsible. But he dances around questions and hints at confidentiality in order to avoid embarrassing his boss – the POTUS – so this scandalous mess doesn't impact the upcoming general election. And whats even more disturbing is that the media is not demanding that this thing expeditiously move forward. Of course given the left leaning tendencies of the MSM they too prefer that the investigation is drug out until after the election.

Agent Terry died and you lied about that and instructed your various offices and agents to lie about it.. You and they are guilty of obstruction, obfuscation and misleading a congressional investigation in an act that was at the very least, criminally negligent..
