I saw this entire meeting on CSPAN. The audience was packed by some Obama organization. There were a lot of Obama care supporters who were clearly organized. They all carried the exact same sign. Check everyone’s Id at the door of town halls, voting booths, employers, hospitals, and government service office. While we are doing that, check the long form birth certificate (the official one with the name of the hospital and doctor on it)of Presidential candidates, including Obama’s, for 2012. No state should allow a candidate on the ballot who hasn’t supplied a valid birth certificate. In all fairness to Moran (whom I despise, BTW), he did NOT lose control of the crowd. The Q&A format, at the end of the meeting, was to pick questions out of boxes (FOR, AGAINST, and UNDECIDED) and have the questioner come forward to ask the question himself. Before this man came up, a woman whose question was drawn did not come up (apparently she had left), and another woman pretended to be her and simply got up to ask a completely different question. There was some confusion when this man came up, too, and it was perfectly reasonable to question his identity. That was not done to every questioner, nor was there any check to see whether people were from the Congressman’s district. I know for a fact that some people were from Frank Wolf’s district, because they drove me there. (It seems Wolf is not even bothering to have a town hall meeting, and they wanted to be heard by SOMEONE.)

It’s because right before that he pulled a question out of the box, called the lady’s name, and the person who claimed to be that person started to ask the question but wasn’t the person he had picked! So he said “Ma’am, please, that’s not fair to the person who I picked”. A few years back, I wrote to Dennis Hastert (former SOH….and SOB!) an email to register my displeasure in response to his “not remembering” who fellow republican John McCain was when asked by a reporter. The issue of meeting and protest packing is NOT being overdone. I saw it first hand in Phoenix when I went to protest Obamacare except it was from SEIU. Then, with more money in their pockets to spend, those people might actually be able to buy a retirement acct, medical insurance, and lost income insurance. To attract people to accept these new jobs, better pay and benefit packages will be offered. The cost of these benifits will go down because the buyers will not be forced by Government to buy them and the suppliers will have to give value in order to sell them. There will be growth. With growth will come increased revenue. Increased revenue means more collected taxes. More collected taxes means surplus. Surplus means less money needs to be collected, hence lower tax rates. And the cycle starts over again. But, this senerio only works with limited government, not with our current tax and spend practices.

Oh, there is one down side, those leeches who have lived at the public trough, and only vote for people who offer bigger handouts, will actually have to find another way to survive.

Every one who wanted to ask a question was asked to submit a question with their name on the question so that they could be called out of the crowd to step up and ask their question. The reason why this guy was asked for ID was because earlier a woman who did not submit a question answered to another woman’s name and then began to not ask a question but Right Wing rant and rave. The representative got angry at this deceit and decided to make sure that the people who asked the questions were actually who they said they were.

Robert Turner and I are apparently the only ones who saw the whole thing. The man demanded that the congressman look at his ID when there was a case of mistaken identity; the congressman did not demand the ID. For the sake of order, those whose names were drawn from a box were the ones offered the chance to ask questions. This man’s name was called, but the congressman kept looking around the room and calling the drawn name.

There was plenty of fault in this meeting, not least of which was that DNC Chairman Howard Dean was there to answer the questions this congressman was incapable of or unwilling to answer. However, “checking papers” or ID’s or any other nonsense is just that: nonsense. The headline is disingenious and very misleading.

I say Bravo! to the Senator. Far from losing control of the meeting as the commentator suggested, he tried to KEEP control of it from the howling protesters. I applaud him like I did Barney Frank.

I was actually at the meeting and it was as advertised. There were definitely two opposing sides but there were prob 3:1 liberals to conservatives. I thought it was hilarious that Moron would make a stink about the possibility that there were right wing trouble makers bussed in to cause a disturbance. Every union was well represented and I saw no less than 100 “strong unions” shirts. There were about 10 HUGE NFL linemen looking union guys walking around with green “volunteer” shirts. Planned Parenthood sent about 20 kids looking about 10-13 years old wearing pink shirts and holding signs with a clothes hanger with a big red circle and line through it. Anyone with an anti obama sign spent the entire evening being SCREAMED at to the point where I thought a fight would break out. A young guy maybe 18 with crutches who looked like he had some form of palsy was holding a sign saying “cripples against obama-care.” He spent the entire time with some big black guy screaming at him. I haven’t seen footage of it anywhere online but at one point an elderly woman went up to ask a question and when Moran said she wasn’t who they called up he asked the police to escort her out. I’ve never seen a cop run that fast than to hustle an 80 year old away from the stage. The ONLY disruptive thing was when terry was kicked out.

The fact of the matter is the Congressman wouldn’t have dared ask for an ID if the man had been black or Hispanic under any circumstance. No way in this world because it would be profiling. “Angry, white males” seems to be the profile these leftwing radical politicians seem to be using.

This is beyond ridiculous that Fox covered this in this light…completely out of context. There was a woman right before this who outright lied to the Congressman and claimed she was the person who’s question was selected, just so she could ask a completely unrelated question. When this guy came up, he was yelling and making a fuss before it even came time for him to ask his question, so Moran assumed he was yet another person trying to fake it. Fox of course does not show the repeated apology Moran issued in front of everyone after this for questioning his identity.

But obviously, Ted isn’t coming down for breakfast anymore so he is not going to be the one to bring up the Coburn Amendment for reconsideration. No, illegals are given cards from other family members, and they produce the I.D. ans all is well… what is wrong with a deep check on who is coming in and out of the hospitatls!! If they are illegal, send them home where they belong. How many times can we keep paying for people with out I.D.?
I get mad as hell when we are supposed to be the “perfect” citizen living by the law… and others are trashing our country and taking the best from us and our gov. is standing by and watching it all happen.

No one should have to show ID to vote. We Chicagoans would find it a great imposition: For instance, Great-Aunt Marta died in 1999 – how the heck can she re-new her license for the next election? She’d be so disappointed not to vote her straight Democratic ticket, just as she has since she was first allowed to vote in the 1920s. She’d spin in her grave at nearly 100 rpms. Of course, that would be a way to verify she was still in her grave at Waldheim Cemetery. Vote early, vote often – that’s the Chicago way! Unlike the NRA’s guns, no one will ever pry our Voter’s Registration Cards from our cold, dead hands.
