America…that is it in a nutshell of a statement!
Did not Hitler and the Nazis do the same? Decided only those worthy enough to exist were blue eyed and blond haired Aryans?
Did they not experiment on the elderly and handicapped of their society?
Did they not try and eradicate “off the face of the earth” a group of people they considered less than their dogs?
America…is this not where we are headed with the Bilderberg Bush-Obama Democratzi government run healthcare?
Continue fighting back and speaking out and speaking up!
I also find it ridiculous that it is Republicans causing the problems. Uhm… Dems have complete control, if things don’t happen, it’s their fault. I have never seen a bigger bunch of whiners… jeez, they control essentially all 3 branchs, yet they say the Republicans just say no to everything. IT DOESN’T MATTER you can pass ANYTHING you want, heck Pelosi and Reid have been bragging about it while complaining.
kennedy is over the hill and sick will they let him go home and die
[...] is the original post: Congressman: Dem Health Care Plan Tells Seniors to ‘Drop Dead’ Filed Under: Latest News [...]
Eileen for Freedom/Liberty….you are exactly right! This is NOT ABOUT HEALTHCARE…..IT’S ABOUT CONTROL! WAKE UP AMERICA!!!!
Eileen,
I have a friend whose mother is in her mid 80’s, has dementia so bad that she doesn’t recognize her husband of 50 years, wets herself constantly, doesn’t remember who she is, and is essentially bed ridden. She has also recently been diagnosed with cancer.
Should she get radiation therapy and chemo?
Airwick: She should get whatever her family decides and can afford. And you should get what you deserve for being a libtard exterminator health care rationing enthusiast.
Dear, Dear Airwick…I truly sympathize with anyone who is in this position…both the patient and the care providers…I too may be in this position some day!
That will be a decision that should be made between by the family after consultation with the doctor…not the government!
Each and every situation is different and only the doctor and family know the details.
I do believe that our Christian GOD is the author and finisher of our lives.
I believe that in every, every situation we find ourselves in…GOD is in control as we look to him for guidance and help!
I recently took responsiblity (only relative left) for my 90 yr old uncle. I did everything I could to make his later years comfortable and that he could live in his home.
He was 89 yrs old when a pacemaker was put in without hesitation from his doctor.
You know the thing that killed him? It was a bed sore! He suffered tremendously while they tried to heal that bed sore…to no avail.
He said to me one day after walking into his hospital room…”I just want to die”! I said okay…and went and got the head administrator on the floor and told him to tell her that!
We wanted to take him home…to let him die peacefully at home under our care and the care of home Hospice…that was Friday!
On Saturday…GOD took him home peacefully early on Saturday morning!
There are ways to allow the body to stop…without killing someone outright!
That is what was right for my Uncle John…we only sought to make him comfortable and to make sure we were there for him when GOD came and took him home!
This has shaped my life…but did not change my opinion about the sanctity of life…there is never…ever…a reason to make the decision to end ones life…GOD has appointed a time to be born and a time to die…and man should never intervene!
Airwick, are you saying she should not? I for one do not want my Government playing G-D in a life or death matter. This is a decision that should be left up to the family and the person.
As in Roe v Wade that the Libs are so proud of, it totally boggles the mind that the government can not get involved in a womans rights to choose and yet they can write into law when an elderly person is counseled into end of life matters. Eugenics seems to be the preferred Democrat means to reduce Social Security Benefits in order to salvage the system.
@Airwick
“have a friend whose mother is in her mid 80’s, has dementia so bad that she doesn’t recognize her husband of 50 years, wets herself constantly, doesn’t remember who she is, and is essentially bed ridden. She has also recently been diagnosed with cancer.”
Change the age to 26. Now instead of dementia due to old age/possible Alzheimer’s make it dementia due to a horrible car crash which caused irreversible brain damage, add to that violent fits and seizures. Also add to that paralyzed from waist down. Now one and half years later diagnosed with stomach cancer.
Should my cousin get radiation and chemo? After all other than age his “quality of life” is no different than the elderly lady you mentioned.
If you approve rationing of health care please note that all the countries that use rationing have continuously strove to cut more costs by rationing out less and less available care. In other words, less and less is available.
no airwick they should not get treatment other than palliative
i am not in favor of this obama care at all BTW but the end of life issues are not handled well in our society and many people have misguided expectations. like kennedy with his gioblastoma, man i really expected that old manslaughtering drunk to be dead.
If this is true and it passes, there’s sure to be an uproar from senior citizens and rightfully so. Many are going to be asking, “What do I do now?” Well the first thing a lot of them can do (if they’re able) is wake up! When are some of you going to realize that these people you’ve been voting for all your life are part of the problem, not the solution.
If this passes and these cuts are made, don’t be surprised if part of the damage control on the democrats side is to find a way to blame George Bush and the Republican congress for it all. In spite of all evidence to the contrary, I still suspect that a lot of those loyal senior democrats out there will swallow the argument hook, line, and sinker.
It already happens in Britain. If you sucker into that here then you will have the gov’t deciding life and death issues for you without regard to your feelings and you will have no input at all. Imagine the ramifications if you are the wrong colour or party affiliation.
Hey Dr. Jay!
Senator Kennedy will recover because he has the best health insurance taxpayer money can buy !
Combined tax rate for citizens in Quebec making around 35K is 58 percent if you are single and 47% if you are married. This is what you call very expensive free health care. Their tax rate is 100 percent higher than that of California, which is considered a highly taxed state, for people making the same amount of money. The average wait for any real service in Canada for drop ins is around six hours. If you need major care the wait is in the months, sometimes in the years. The free clinics are often recommending that the people go to the paid clinics if they want help quickly. Univesal health care is not only extremely expensive (NOT EVER FREE) but it is the most ineffective and most expensive and most faulty way of getting the job done.
Article quote:
“”No one wants to tell the speaker (Nancy Pelosi) that she’s moving too fast and they damn sure don’t want to tell the president,” Rep. Charles Rangel, D-N.Y., a key committee chairman, told a fellow lawmaker as the two walked into a closed-door meeting Tuesday. The remark was overheard by reporters.”
WHY NOT? WHY ARE THEY AFRAID TO TELL THESE RAMRODDERS TO
S-L-O-W D-O-W-N ?!
Eileen and I Want to Know,
First of all, I would like to express my condolences to both of you. It is my personal belief that a person’s mind is the most important aspect of his existence. Everything that makes you what you are…your personality, your character, and your individuality, even your soul is tied up in it. If you lose it, you lose everything worthwhile.
I think that the patient has the ultimate say in matters like this. Eileen, your uncle sounds like he was fully competent up until the time that he died. Of course he should have a pacemaker even if he is 89 as long as he wants one. He still had quality years left. It is unfortunate about the bedsores. That is a major problem with people who are bedridden and more common than is generally thought. If you know someone else in that situation ask the doctor about Manuka honey as a means to alleviate the soreness, promote healing, and prevent infection. This stuff actually works and is not some “California goofball” treatment.
I Want to Know is in a different situation since it sounds as if his cousin is not able to express his own thoughts and, unfortunately, it looks like he never will. If he was in my family I would just let him go without aggressive treatment unless that therapy could yield information that could help others (experimental new drugs).
TO AIRWICK, AND ALL:
WHAT ABOUT AIDS PATIENTS? They reach a stage, sooner or later, where nothing will help. Do you counsel THEM to just roll over and die like a good little AMERICAN? Or will the Feds keep pumping $$$$ into their (IMO) worthless carcasses just because they are NOT OLD and are most likely LIBT@RDS????
Dear Airwick…yes my Uncle was a very vibrant man for his age, and I appreciate your condolescence!
Again, families all over the world have to make such decisions daily and it is their decision to make…not our government!
So under your assumption because a person no longer has control of their mind (dementia, retardation, autism, brain damage or any other) that we should consider doing away with them…because they are a burden on society?
Now if one of my family was in an accident and was being kept alive by artificial means…I believe I would…personally…make the decision to take them off life support and leave it in GOD’s hands at that point!
Although it would be hard for me to do so…I couldn’t even let them put my dog to sleep when she was discovered with breast cancer. I had them do surgery instead to remove her whole left side of the breast and she lived another 5 years! She was 15 when she died!
So even if I can say that today…perhaps…when one of my family came to that position…I might not! But at this point in time, I would think leaving it in GOD’s hand would be the very best and what HE would want…to leave it in HIS hands!
Ponder this. We all have “rights”, and they cannot be taken away, (free speech, right to be armed, etc.). The latest lib canard is that health care is a “right”. If that is so, how can anyone take away the “rights” of the elderly to live? Just wondering…

“Tiller the Killer”, the abortionist darling of the liberal democrats took away that “right” from 60,000 (his number) living human beings without even a raised eyebrow from the leftists. They applaud his work to this day. Every one of those Americans had a beating heart that was stilled by Dr Tiller without a hint of conscience.
Why would anyone think they would not do the same to the elderly? They will.
“Elderly people who are terminally ill have a “duty to die and get out of the way” instead of trying to prolong their lives by artificial means, Gov. Richard D. Lamm of Colorado said Tuesday”
Well, did they get to Breitbarf too??? Tried to post the comment below on the thread “obama-tries-to-gain-control-of-health-care-debate/” and got informed that “comments have been closed on this item,” even though only SIX lousy comments had been posted!! WTF is going on, BB?
Well, below is the comment anyway, in response to the jaw-flapping video defending this healthcare reform crap.
——————————-
Oh yeah, that’s PROGRESS, all right:
THE BLUE-RIBBON PANEL OF EXPERTS IS RECOMMENDING THAT WE CAN “SAVE ON MEDICARE” BY *OFFING THE OLD PEOPLE* !!
THANKS A LOT, YOU SELF-SERVING ****S!!!!
IF THIS ILL-CONCEIVED BILL PASSES, *EVERY* IDIOT WHO VOTES FOR IT SHOULD HANG HIS OR HER HEAD IN SHAME, AND EACH ONE SHOULD BE *FORCED* TO BECOME ENROLLED IN THIS GOVERNMENT-TAKEOVER-OF-HEALTHCARE IN AMERICA!
An excellent post from the now-closed-to-comments thread on healthcare reform (Mr. O. pitching the crap-plan), by The Truth Be Told:
“Obama Healthcare = Mark Of The Beast
Why all the fuss about “requiring” everyone to have healthcare? Simple. By “requiring” every single American to have healthcare insurance, the government will be guaranteed that everyone in America can and will be tracked on the government computer databases from cradle-to-grave. This isn’t about healthcare coverage…this is all about controlling the masses.”
NEXT THING YOU KNOW, THEY’LL BE IMPLANTING R.F.I.D. CHIPS IN EACH OF US, SO THEY CAN TRACK US EVEN BETTER!
Government ‘counselors’ on end of life treatment
By Don Parker
“The House version of the Health Care Bill is going to require (p 425-430) mandatory counseling for all seniors at a minimum of every five years, more often if the senior is sick or in a nursing home.
Just how many government trained counselors will that put into the work force? With an over 65 population of 38,000,000 US (Census, 2007), 4 counseling sessions daily, over 37,000, at a minimum, that’s how many. Plus their supervisors, plus the report readers, plus the oversight agency.”
romanticpoet.wordpress.com/2009/07/22/part-of-obama-healthcare-plan-mandatory-counseling-for-seniors-over-65-regarding-end-of-life-issues/
Eileen,
I do not think that “because a person no longer has control of their mind (dementia, retardation, autism, brain damage or any other) that we should consider doing away with them…because they are a burden on society”? That is euthanasia. However, I do believe that someone’s mental state should be a major factor when determining whether or not someone gets extraordinary, expensive care for the treatment of a condition from which he (or she) probably will not survive anyway. Often chemo, radiation, and other therapies only serve to extend one’s life, not cure. What is the point of extending someone’s life when they really don’t have one anyway? Often all you do is extend pain. Sometimes it’s just time to say, “enough”, and let go.
If your understanding of the effects of this bill is correct, some of these treatments will not be covered under a government run program. That does not mean that you can’t have access to them; it means that YOU will have to pay for it.
I don’t understand why the left says no to death sentences but yes to abortions.
Many of the elderly are being sentenced to death and the doesn’t care……
Dear Airwick…and that is exactly why those decisions should be up to the family of the patient after consultation with their Doctor!
Having government run healthcare make those decisions is a no brainer for Americans!
Under a government run healthcare system we will be taking that decision away from the family! That is wrong anyway you look at it!
That is why we don’t need an “overhaul” of the best healthcare in the world!
We need it “tweeked” not “overhauled”! We need it “tweeked” by a range of medical personnel (not necessarily endorsed by the AMA) who know of what they speak.
We need to take the healthcare system and pick it apart piece by piece.
We can start with medicines/drugs! Let’s just begin with this piece because this is where costs are exorbitant for citizens.
Let us get a group of pharmacists, doctors, nurses, etc and let them sift through our programs and policies and come up with a couple of alternatives on what to do.
Then let them tweek that again before presenting a full report and decision to the American people and then to Congress for passing!
Then let’s go on to another portion of healthcare…emergency rooms!
Let’s get a group of Emergency room doctors, nurses, etc. Let them sift over the problems with emergency care and come up with a solution.
Then, again, let them tweeked and tweek until they have a solution. Then present it to the American people and then to Congress for passage.
And on and on and on until we tweek all the problems of our existing healthcare!
Americans want to keep their healthcare as is, they want control over their healthcare, not the government! They want to make the decision of whether or not they, or their loved ones needs further treatment. If they are paying for this treatment, they should be allowed to do whatever they want…period!
And do not believe what the politicians are saying to you…that you can keep your existing care…it is a lie…as is everything that comes out of the mouth of one Bilderberg Bush-Obama! He has proved he is a liar continually…why would you believe him now on something so very, very important to each and every citizen?
America…keep calling your Senators/House Reps and tell them NO>>>NO>>>NO to government run healthcare!
NO WAY…JOSE!
I had hopes when universal health care was actually being worked on and could (and should) become a reality for all Americans (and LEGAL immigrants) to have at least basic coverage. Thinking about children, the unemployed, especially the ones who’ve run out of benefits – kids don’t have the money to go to the doctor or dentist, unemployed people sure can’t afford insurance or to get sick and honestly most working people I know can’t afford to get sick even with insurance.
Now they want to try to find a way to lessen the “burden” of SS and Medicare to the elderly.
I’ve been reading and watching and finding out about the mandatory “End of life counseling” I find myself horrified.
If this is the way to try to help pay for health care for all, then this country had best better also pass legislation that a) assisted suicide is no longer a crime, but as in Switzerland, make it obtainable legally and with dignity; and b) change the life insurance laws so if you do commit suicide either personally or via assisted suicide that your insurance will pay.
Right now if you “off” yourself your beneficiaries will not get a penny from your life insurance.
The elderly have the right to live their lives in peace and without having to worry that someone’s going to decide they need “palliative” care and that they stand to be “helped” to die via basically starving them to death.
There’s another fairly large group of people this will impact and they’re pretty much ignored in all the talks and debates over SS, Medicare and Medicaid. The disabled on Medicare. We are the invisible unless it’s a terrible high-profile case like Terry Schiavo who wanted to die but the gov’t got themselves involved saying she had the right to live. But the rest of us and the older folk don’t have any rights? That’s what it’s looking more and more like.
First it’s so hard to even get SS disability it’s like they really DO want you to die while they deny, deny, deny applications and appeals, then make us worry that they can (and do) review and can stop your disability at any time; and for those of us on Medicare, along with the elderly, what the Bush administration did to us with their Medicare “reforms”:
higher amounts taken from our monthly checks, $900 a day co-pay for hospitalization, the gov’t deciding what medications are no longer considered “necessary” and therefore are not and cannot be covered by any insurance so you get to pay out of pocket if you take and need these medicines – and they can do this with any medication any time they like. Supplemental insurance is almost a must if you’re on Medicare already. But even that won’t cover the meds Medicare’s decided you don’t need. And once again, there’s MORE money out of your once a month OMG what’s left after paying rent, utlities, doctors … do I buy all my meds or do I keep the lights on or buy something silly like … food.
And just to add a bit more insult to injury, anyone on SS will not be seeing a cost of living (joke as it is) increase at least next year. They’re talking about NO cost of living increase through 2013 and then a 2% cap regardless of inflation starting in 2014.
I’m honestly shocked. Many countries do care for the ill and disabled. Many countries do honor the elderly for their age and wisdom. I believe China does a better job of taking care of the disabled and elderly than we do. And that truly IS a crime that a communist, closed down society is managing to do more than what is supposedly a world leading country.
Right now I am ashamed of ALL of our elected officials, no party line or affiliation. They have and will have to the end of their lives the best health care everyone’s tax dollars can buy. They won’t be having to go through these bogus end of life counseling sessions or worry that they’re going to be stuffed into a hospice and slowly starved to death.
I’d really like to see everyone in Washington try to live the way we, the average citizen lives for 3 months. Not a week, not a month, but at least 3 months so they get a real good clear picture of how people are suffering, worrying, scrimping and trying to survive. Maybe then they wouldn’t be quite so quick to pass bills and laws that make us suffer even more.
Sorry for the rant. This is just almost beyond belief. I’d thought when I was going through the SSDI process that it would be easier if I could just up and die, it would save me a world of extra pain and stress and that way I wouldn’t be a burden on society (after working 30+ years). Now I really think they want those of us who can’t work or are older and deserve to retire with dignity to just die. Would help balance the budget, wouldn’t it?
This is not a racial issue; at what cost to your mama and papa, or you denied hip replacement, etc, etc? Will Obama’s plan deny crack babies care at any of today’s cost? Today estimated at two million dollars for three months of hospital care, per crack. Below is a report of costs from one city in 1992; to who, when and where will they say no.
‘Crack babies’ catch up
By DANA KENNEDY, The Associated Press, 12/6/92
“The first wave of crack-exposed children entered first and second grades in New York City this fall, a year after one state report estimated the cost of special care for them could total $2 billion over the next 15 years. Harlem Hospital researchers estimated that the cost of caring for crack babies costs the country $500 million a year. Such statistics have fed the kind of fear that led Ross Perot to invoke the dread specter of “crack babies” during the first presidential debate.
“Again and again and again, the mother disappears in three days and the child becomes a ward of the state because he’s permanently and genetically damaged,” Perot said. “
Does anyone have a link to the actual proposal in congress/senate? Thx
