I’m still for Coco.

dennisl59   January 21st, 2010 - 10:58 am

You’ve got to hand it to Conan, he’s sticking his thumb right into the eyes of the NBC Corporate Executives. Love it.

Snailmailtrucker   January 21st, 2010 - 11:06 am

First time I have watched this clown… not bad.

Big Time Leno and Carson Fan   January 21st, 2010 - 11:32 am

If that cost 1.5M I’ll eat a pair of Barny Frank dirty shorts.

No wonder the guy’s ratings suck!

What’s it cost to rent that clunker for a day – 1,000 bucks – maybe.

ed357   January 21st, 2010 - 11:46 am

NICE……….

gc5341   January 21st, 2010 - 11:48 am

Conan,

You think you are pretty funny “wasting” $1.5 million of NBC’s money to get back at them because you lost the Tonight Show even though you are being well compensated to leave. It’s not so much that I care about NBC management but look at how many people are unemployed today. How many people won’t eat tonight because they could not afford it? How about the people in Haiti who experience a living hell everyday?

Yeah, that’s funny stuff. Now what, a wasted $1.5 million can sit in NBC studios? In one year Conan, you will be forgotten.

keith   January 21st, 2010 - 11:49 am

This may be something like Network where Robert Shaw’s raving newsman was the bigger ratings bonanza that overshadowed the nuisance factor. I’ve liked Conan from the beginning. I like Jay. I only stopped watching Conan on Late Night when Ferguson came on as he was fresher and more original. being backed into a corner has sharpened Conan’s comedy. My hope is that Comcast realizes the value of this war and puts Zucker against a wall so Conan and Jay can throw heavy things at him before he is canned. Then have someone with a creative brain utilize both of these talents.

steve   January 21st, 2010 - 11:52 am

I love you!

Bugati: 1.5 million dollars
Original track rolling stones ‘Satisfaction’: CRAZY EXPENSIVE
The look on the NBC executives faces:…………priceless.

SHALESLYN   January 21st, 2010 - 12:15 pm

CONAN NEVER GREW UP. WHAT A WASTE OF GOOD MONEY, JUST TO MAKE A POINT. IT;S NOT EVEN FUNNY. CONAN YOU ARE THE BIGGEST CRY BABY. NOW GET LOST.

Rob G., Illinois   January 21st, 2010 - 12:29 pm

Way to go Conan, Spend as much money from that SOCIALIST Zucker Boob as you can, then go over to FOX and do a show. You can’t lose.

Kit   January 21st, 2010 - 12:50 pm

Epic.

I’m not pro-Conan or pro-Leno….I’m anti-NBC.

Don't Tread On Me   January 21st, 2010 - 12:58 pm

chucknfw   January 21st, 2010 - 1:21 pm

Are you guys that dense… it is a bit. This car wasn’t purchased… or if it was it will be bought right back. Pretty good way to promo a sweet car if you ask me.

Zam   January 21st, 2010 - 1:24 pm

Really now, if NBC and all it’s high wigs allow this then they all should go take a HIKE! But on the other hand, what are all these that root for Conan have if they condone this? R you all rebellious or want to be like him? What point does it prove? If he did pull it off, then all networks and anyone that wants to hire HIM or have him on in anyway then BEWARE, the overgrown middlelife redhead has nothing but very expensive revenge onto anyone that might ask him to move over for even a minute. And for Conan, I hope your kids will find out what you are really like and you will be FREE to act this way when your daddy might ask you to do anything you do not like…do not even think for a minute that enough is enough, kiddos. Be spoiled and bratty to no limits and you will even have followers that think you are cute and funny.

DA BEARRRS   January 21st, 2010 - 1:29 pm

Hey, when I got told I was being laid off from a job the next week, I called the time and temperature number for the Bank of Thailand from an empty cubicle, put the phone on hold, and left for the weekend.

When I came back on Monday, it was still blinking. It was still blinking when I was laid off on Wednesday.

Cheryl Thomson   January 21st, 2010 - 1:32 pm

I think I’ve figured out WHY the Conan’s network came up with the scheme to switch the timeslots for him and Leno. It was a backhanded way of consigning Conan to failure and oblivion. So WHY did they want to do this? They were following orders. Back in early October, Conan did a Sesame Street parody skit in which Michelle Obama (taped dub of the real kid show appearance) had to smilingly answer a question about OBAMA BEING BORN IN KENYA AND NOT HAVING A U.S. BIRTH CERTIFICATE. Conan was the only major media to touch that very VERY sore point. You can still see on YouTube the Chris Wallace/Bill O’Reilly commentary on the skit, where they play the Conan skit. But they pointedly do NOT mention the “birther issue”. NBC works for the White House. Obama is not only a liar, but he is a fraud – in my personal opinion, to which I am entitled as a U.S. citizen.

Denny   January 21st, 2010 - 1:37 pm

This is completely unprofessional, immature and shows that Conan has NO class. Thanks for reminding us why we don’t care for you Conan. Shame on you, you are not a gentleman.

kmichaels   January 21st, 2010 - 2:03 pm

People thinking Conan was serious and not lying about the price tag have mental issues.

kmichaels   January 21st, 2010 - 2:04 pm

BTW, this love thing people have for this idiot kid somebody wannabe is just dumb. He is a spoiled brat. Not worthy of much time.

good purchase   January 21st, 2010 - 2:16 pm

love Conan, thought it was amusing, and really there’s no such thing as a “waste of money” in a capitalist society as far as the big picture goes (there is of course stupid purchases that waste YOUR money, like a Snuggie) because someone else got paid and may use that money for charity (for those so concerned about 1.5 million that could have gone to Haiti — it STILL can, or maybe the money will be invested, multiply, and there will be even more for the next disaster). People complain about luxury purchases like yachts etc. (by eeeeevil “rich people”), but it takes labor to make a yacht — middlemen, parts, etc. etc. and those insured yachts use gas which supports oil companies (which employ people), and are often used for meetings to solicit business (which often takes catering, booze etc.), and also (God forbid) are used to the enjoyment of one’s labor. IOW: Suck it up, complainers. Even if they blew the thing up with dynamite (it would be a shame) it still would help the economy — dynamite costs money. Best case scenario is that he has it insured, fills it up everyday, and drives it recklessly so that it needs constant repairs, blows it up, has it rebuilt, then sells it as a classic years later and contributes the money to a conservative running for office.

HiM   January 21st, 2010 - 2:20 pm

Ah, why have hurt political bias thrown into here? Your argument might be taken a little different if you, (poster @1:32pm Jan 21) would have left that “switch of timeslots for him and Leno” out, since for Coco to act like a spoilt kid and bulk at such is extremely childish and it just shows he thinks his birthright gives him some constant employment for such timeslot. It’s not like he was fired and I think that NBC did not think this OLD kid Coco would bulk at such. So the NBC people were just caught in a bind of paying him all for what he is NOT worth for making so much stink. And what the heck, they all prob know one another since University time and just stuffin’ each others’ pockets and don’t give a damned about the network anyways. This network is eihter going to fall or rise and due to all the commotion over this it’s attracting more ratings then before so why worry about some conspiracy theory? If Connie baby was so GREAT then he would have not worried about a half hour move, in fact he might have even gotten better ratings if he was closer compared to Leno in time slots AND if he was just so excellent a comic/host. Proves he is infantile in a BIG way if he is acting like a spoilt child on continual & on even businses basis. Hire him to be your man if you have a business and see if YOU would love him doing this unprofessional thing if he does not meet the goals for your business.

Hooter   January 21st, 2010 - 3:03 pm

ZUCKER needs to be FIRED!

Thats Funny Don’t care who you are

Kevin   January 21st, 2010 - 3:07 pm

So much for celebrities and their causes. Why not donate that money to Haiti relief.?

guynamedrachel   January 21st, 2010 - 3:11 pm

Messages for the clueless—

This skit was a joke— a funny joke.

Peter Finch played the “newscaster” in Network. Robert Shaw was in Jaws. Ooops, sorry, that’s a free plug for an NBC/Universal owned property.

jason   January 21st, 2010 - 3:50 pm

Damn, that was the funniest Conan has EVER been.
Maybe the ratings improvement will bring in more $$ and he’ll stay.

Prob not.

good purchase   January 21st, 2010 - 4:07 pm

hey Kevin… see my post above.

keith   January 21st, 2010 - 5:57 pm

Hay Conan!!!

I got a great Idea for another “Bit” — how about you take the car, go out “Jay Walking” like the other guy does — but then — here’s the funny part — Give the car to some random guy/girl on the street and make NBC pay the taxes/title transfer!!!!!

That would be awesome….and I promise you I would be laughing for a week!!!

–Keith

too much ado bout not a damn thing!   January 21st, 2010 - 6:28 pm

Hey gc5341.. LOL hey buddy your actually getting mad at conan for spending nbc’s money because you seriously
think if he had not that the money was going to otherwise feed needy families and help the
disaster victims in Haiti?? WTH are you smoking man?
Please tell me what is the name of this alternate universe you live in where this would happen and is jay leno actually ever
funny at some point over there?

Alex   January 21st, 2010 - 6:35 pm

I hadn’t watched Late Night stuff for a while until this came along, so I don’t really care. It’s not the 90s anymore and I’ve seen everything they have to give.

I guess Conan could be the new Arsenio if he wanted to be. This is obviously a joke.

LK   January 21st, 2010 - 7:32 pm

GE’s in bed with the Communist Obama administration — hope Conan spends and spends and spends BIG before he leaves!!!!!!!

Christopher   January 21st, 2010 - 9:26 pm

“He costs 1.2 million dollars” ZING!

me   January 21st, 2010 - 11:44 pm

Hey gc5341,

Don’t complain and try to put yourself on a high horse by saying “he’s spending all this money, what about the people that don’t have jobs?” He’s supporting the people that work for Bugatti isn’t he? Part of his negotiation was also for the 200 “employees” or staff members he has that uprooted their lives to move from New York to L.A. because they thought they had a nice long secure future ahead of them. So your complaint that he’s not for the little man has no validity. TEAM CONANDO!!!!

BeEtLjOoZ   January 22nd, 2010 - 12:36 pm

Conan is surely making some new fans with this sort of stuff. Too funny!

scuddamooch   January 22nd, 2010 - 5:21 pm

Why not fill the Veyron with MRE’s, crush the car with a wrecking ball, then fly it to haiti? Revenge is a meal best served cold.
