The CNN video made a big deal over the difference in the oath taken by the members and the oath taken by enlisted members of the US armed forces. It would be a useful exercise to compare the oath to that taken by commissioned officers of the US armed forces.

The problem with quoting or listening to the “Southern Poverty Law Center” is that they themselves have become an extremist organization. They started out years ago as a “watchdog” group that monitors white supremist organizations…but unfortunately they have mutated into a hard-left organization that intstantly labels any white person or group who opposes illegal immigration as a racist! If you oppose “affirmative action” they label you a racist! If you oppose ANYTHING Obama says or does…you are a racist! They can’t seem to find the time to monitor black or hispanic racist groups like the “Nation of Islam” or “La Raza” or CAIR (Council on American-Islamic Relations)….who have ties with terrorist organizations like Hamas and the Muslim Brotherhood. Nope…just can’t seem to find the time or money to investigate those groups….sorry.

I am a proud member of Oathkeepers. At the time I took my oath to uphold and defend the Constitution I was proud but now I am even more so. When I enlisted it was in a time of peace (77-83) but now the Constitution is under direct assault and feel that my oath (though it was taken 32 years ago) is even more relevent today. When our President starts talking about starting a “homeland security force” that is better funded than our actual military that is when “red flags” fly. I find it comforting that the Oathkeepers are giving Americans comfort in knowing that when Obama gives the unlawful order to Marshall law, that we current and former military and law enforcement personnel will not follow that order.

Oathkeepers is not a militant organization that is forming to arms in opposition, it is an organization that will not follow those who subvert the Constitution by non-participation. It tells civilians, no worry, we will not be the ones who come knocking on your door when the order, god forbid, ever occurs to pick up your husband, son, daughter or mother.

This is why the organization only takes active duty military, veterans and law enforcement personnel. Those are the exact people, upon declaration of marshall law who would be ordered to subvert the Constitution. These members, like me, give a re-affirmation of their oaths because we love this country and will not be the ones who actively destroy it through use of force.
