The NAACP posted the following on their website: The video of Shirley Sherrod released by Andrew Brietbart's Big Government Blog on July 19 didn't tell the full story. It was selectively edited to cast her in a negative light. Andrew Breitbart is being portrayed as a villian in this incident because he posted the video on his website. Breitbart said the Shirley Sherrod video was about the NAACP not her. He said the NAACP called the Tea-Party Protesters racists and are still saying some black Congressman were called the N-word at the Capitol during the healthcare protest. These are false claims and Breibart has a $100,000 reward for any video proof of the allegations. No one has collected the reward, even though Jesse Jackson Jr. video-taped the walk.
People are claiming the Sherrod video was taken out of context; that Sherrod was talking about a parable that changed her viewpoint on race relations. The video was from a speech Shirley Sherrod made on March 27, 2010, at the 20th Annual NAACP Freedom Fund Banquet. In it she says, …“The first time I was faced with a having to help a white farmer save his farm…

…He took a long time talking, but he was trying to show me he was superior to me…But he had to come to me for help. What he didn’t know was …I was trying to decide how much help to give him.” (laughter) Although, the context of what Shirley was saying was not yet revealed,the crowd started laughing. I believe what Breibart was trying to say was that the video was about the NAACP and their reaction of laughter when she made the statement.
In the same speech Sherrod said, “I haven’t seen such mean-spirited people as I’ve seen lately over this issue of healthcare. Some of the racism we thought was buried; didn’t it surface. Now we endured eight years of the Bushes and we didn’t do the stuff these Republicans are doing because we have a black President.” (Because you oppose Obama’s radical policies in his efforts to “spread the wealth,” you are called a RACIST.) …

Then they say there will be alot of people all over that suit. As Breibart stated, it was about the NAACP and their reaction of laughter when she said she had to think about how much help she was going to give this white farmer. It was the Obama Administration and another knee jerk reaction to an incident, remember the Professor and the Cambrige Police (acting stupidly). So the fault lies with them on the firing. They seem to be concerned with Shirley being fired and then rehired (if she wants it), I wonder if they have the same compassion for the pilot that was fired for the flyover New York photo that Obama was aware of but said he wasn't.

I think they have a point which is this: with the power the web affords people necessarily comes responsibility. touting one set of ideals or another is not the issue, the issue is doing so with some degree of care in the discovery of supporting data and facts. to take a position on an issue is fine but to base that position on disproved facts and/or at odds with the data is just plain irresponsible. I don't think that liberalism is synonymous with being right nor with the facts, but I have noticed that those labeled as liberal tend to be those who rely on the preponderance of evidence and analysis supported by the data to make their arguments while those labeled as conservative tend to argue using ideals or disproved data repeated so often that it becomes part of a given dialog. this is just my observations in recent years and has absolutely nothing to do with the IDEALS and their merits, but everything to do with the individuals laying claim to one set of ideals or another. BTW I really don't think 'the media' is liberally biased. If anything, the opposite is true but either way the problem is that it has any bias. the media should be diligent ly conveying facts, data, information peppered with the clear-cut and distinct editorial commentary supported by said facts. When you have so called news outlets taking sides or espousing bias of any sort you don't have news and we all suffer for it. look how the nation is suffering now. I think that this high level of suffering and animosity is directly attributable to the bias in the media, or rather the people's convictions that they are actually getting unvarnished truth.

I don't agree with what you did but I think the regular media are shooting you down because they are afraid that bloggers are getting some integrity and credibility and people are listening. If people read bloggers that means they aren't watching/reading the regular main stream media. Are they jealous? Yes. They (main stream media) want to control everything and now they can't. The truth is blind and whoever utters it is irrelevant. The reason the left hates anonymity is because it defeats the Alinsky tactic of "freeze, personalize, and polarize." Everyone online has access to the latest news and background information and can verify facts and figures. People online can be rather argumentative, even within the same social circles, and will tear apart arguments just to get at the truth. The Internet is a positive development for democracy (in this context, also assuming individual rights) and furthers the search for truth through transparency, open argumentation, and a wealth of historical and real-time information. The intersubjective nature of the web allows for open communication and debate of truth, stripped of social cues and manipulation, like peer pressure, that may lead to sloppy thinking. The Internet is in many ways the nemesis of modern liberalism, and that is why liberals despise it.

All those like CNN and the MSM want to do is control what is put out to the public. I ask for some real retrospect on this issue and here are my examples. By the MSM and Government controlling what is published America has been kept in the darkness for over 50 years. Mainstream media liberal bias is extremely well documented, you don't have to look back any further than the last election to prove that. I spent the better part of a decade seaching the help wanted ads looking for a job opening in the independent researcher field, and guess what? The new overused catch phrase is experts agree. By the way, I did study journalism and their is a correct way to report a corroborating statement, and that is with the actual name of the so called expert, so the reader, listener or viewer, can make their own determination about the possible bias of the source. Leftists media resources made the determination a long time ago, that the viewers lack the intelligence or education to come to an informed conclusion, therefore alienating those of us having differing world views, and coming to different conclusions.
