This is a really bad idea on top of what is already a very unpopular bill that will likely do wonders to further destroy the American economy. The left’s talking points are well rehearsed, just as they were when Obama was running, but there is no substance behind them unless you count half-truths and outright lies. The primates who think that this bill will do any good at all are just fools. Every indication is that the legislation is loaded with paybacks, political favors and new entitlements which will further sink the USA down the money hole. The ideologs that believe that “health care is a right” should maybe become doctors themselves since they think that other people were born to serve them. THERE CAN BE NO RIGHT THAT REQUIRES OTHER PEOPLE TO SERVE YOU FOR A PRICE YOU DECIDE. THAT IS CALLED SLAVERY. If this bill passes, you can kiss the integrity of the health-care system in the USA goodbye, along with a huge number of future doctors who will choose not to go though the hell of medical school and internship only to be enslaved to the government.

This is a very misleading statement. The Iraq War Resolution was bipartisan in both houses of Congress. Filibuster was never an issue, and the bills were passed by comfortable margins.

This health care legislation, however, is most certainnly NOT bipartisan. It does not have the support of a single Republican in the Senate – not even RINOs Collins, Gregg, Snowe, McCain, Graham, et al – NOT ONE. And in the House, ONE SINGLE REPUBLICAN CONGRESSMAN voted for the health care bill. That’s ONE REPUBLICAN out of the entire Congress.

Clearly, you support this legislation, and that’s just fine. In fact, I encourage the Dems to go right ahead and do whatever they think they can get away with. They have the majority – let them lead. But, let’s not bull_ _ _ t one another. This is NOT the same Bush and the Iraq War resolution, not even close. To argue such is nonsense.

Mark Levin is a constitutional lawyer. He said this has NEVER been done before. There is a parliamentarian that adheres to the rules. The rule is that the house must vote for the senate bill, Obama has to sign it, and then they can modify it. James Madison was instrumental in setting these rules of conduct within the House/Senate.

This is not reconciliation. Liberals seem to want to paint reconciliation and this unconstitutional process as one in the same. This is to avoid having the house vote on the bill …. because it won’t pass. This is akin to Marshall Law.

Is Clyburn a constitutional lawyer? Has he studied the constitution? Does he know someone who has studied the constitution? Does he live within 100 miles of someone who studied the constitution? I don’t trust Clyburn’s opinion on if these shenanigans have a precedent.

Clyburn is one of congress’s truly great simpletons. Liberal and entitlement driven like all leftists, we should expect little else of his ilk.

Sorry, folks. Deem and Pass is perfectly legit and was ruled Constitutional by the SCOTUS just a few years ago. I’m not crazy about the HC bill but it’s going to pass. Given that the GOP has no real alternative and the talking points of tort reform and cross-state purchasing don’t amount to much the bill probably should pass. If you had something real to offer a few months ago besides obstructionism it might have mattered. But not any more.

More disturbing is the hysterical tone here of blood in the streets, the clear racism and the ideological and vague blather about freedom and the Constitution that can’t be supported by facts.

Why is it that getting 30 million people insurance they can’t afford upsets you so much, anyway? Some bizarro scenario that the “wrong” kind of people might be saved? You should know the stats: 45,000 dead every year from lack of insurance. That’s a 9/11 every month. Why doesn’t that bother you more?

hey flossophy – how & when was the deem & pass option used in the same context as the dems who are trying to push through a major piece of legislation that would consume one sixth of our economy ? from what i have read & seen on various talk shows from constitutional lawyers ( and yes even liberal constitutional lawyers ! ) that even though deem & pass was used on minor issues , they have all stated that it has NEVER been used on a major piece of legislation of this magnitude . so , flossophy , how can you say that this obscure scotus ruled it constitutional when it has NEVER been used in the 230 year history of our nation ?

We need to get Mr Clyburn on the same page as we.
1) If this has been done in the past, it was wrong.
2) The Dem party has said that they want a super majority for major legislation. Obama stated something similar.
3) The Dem party said “up or down”. Up or down means everyone puts their name on their vote.
4) Has there really been a case where the Senate passed a bill, and the house didn’t vote for it and the president didn’t sign it?

This is another weasel that is dodging the question.
