Church Attendance Falls Along Party Lines

Gallup reveals the results of a recent poll matching political affiliation with regular attendance at church.

mustafamonde   September 1st, 2010 - 9:29 am

Well of course, committed Marxists–like Obama–don't think much of Christian Faith and the things that make America great. Ergo, you never see him at church. Whereas Conservatives are quite the opposite, thanking God at every turn for divine providence. Funny, how the POTUS is an exemplar of this poll.

DarthShatner   September 1st, 2010 - 9:46 am

If anyone spends any reasonable amount of time studying the bible and the teachings of Jesus Christ they will come to the conclusion that Christianity and Socialism are diametrically opposed.

mustafamonde   September 1st, 2010 - 9:48 am

Interesting post. You know, in the 60s most of the leftist hippies where pretty big on Christ. Now that they've fully embraced Marxism and statism, those peaceful teachings are right out the window.

water_buffalo   September 1st, 2010 - 9:48 am

those numbers are garbage…no way that many democrats go to chuch…. IMHO one would have to be close to an atheist to support death of 50 million unborn

Rover_Bump   September 1st, 2010 - 9:51 am

I wouldn't be surprised at this at all. Those who honor the values of our forefathers follow God. The hedonistic libertines and progressives shove God out of the way because he demands responsibility and accountability and none of that "If it feels good, do it" malarky.

jsazsmitty   September 1st, 2010 - 10:08 am

From and old hymn a message is still relevent……………."who's on the Lord side who? Now is the time to show." As with the children of Israel of old, when they lost their way, they suffered untold ills. When they returned to their God, he poured out untold blessings. Americans, those who believe that this country was inspired by the Maker, have awoke to the danger they face, they are returning to the "Devine Creator" mentioned so often in the Founding documents of this Nation. Evil quakes in the presence of righteous people.

kmichaels   September 1st, 2010 - 10:09 am

No surprise here. Obama, Hillary, Bill Clinton,
Pelosi all claimed to be Christian yet they
never actually practiced what they claimed
was their own religion.

TrueBlueMormon   September 1st, 2010 - 10:10 am

Please tell me that this not a shock to anyone……!!!!

mandinkawarrior   September 1st, 2010 - 10:29 am

I can't believe you right wingers who hate everybody will have the nerve to talk about religion.
Anybody can talk religion and don't walk the walk.

Even the KKK consider themselves a Christian organization and base their doctrines upon their own reading of the Bible. Their theology is strongly influenced by Christian Reconstructionism – they hope to "reconstruct" the United States along biblical (primarily Old Testament) lines and to establish a white-dominated theocracy.
Just like some of the stuff you right wingers post.

antilibtards   September 1st, 2010 - 10:29 am

At first they praised God now they side with man. Not a smart move.

antilibtards   September 1st, 2010 - 10:33 am

Hopefully their hearts are not so hardened that they will continue to reject God's love until their death. This life is but a breath. Eternity lasts a long time.

flyright66   September 1st, 2010 - 10:44 am

Exactly! How many know that the Bible says,
"If a man will not work, he shall not eat."
God made us to be workers, innovaters and providers for our families….not moochers, lazy and victims!

CBrooks1976   September 1st, 2010 - 10:46 am

Shocking……….

TalkingDust   September 1st, 2010 - 10:47 am

I'd be curious to see the church attendance/party affiliation comparison for American Blacks, who happen to overwhelmingly vote Democrat (over 85%). Even though a large percentage of Blacks attend church consistently, especially in the south, they still approve abortion for the most part.

Being politically conservative and Jewish makes me something of an anomaly in my culture. Most of my fellow Jews tend to vote Democrat.

flyright66   September 1st, 2010 - 10:49 am

I just love how when a progressive 'says' they're a Christian or a Catholic or whatever, the liberal media just gives them a pass on any questioning of it- all evidence to the contrary…. When a conservative claims Christianity, they point out every flaw they can to disprove that they live by what they said…..!?!?! Huh? That is JACKED-UP!

Oldbluesboy   September 1st, 2010 - 10:50 am

People practice their faith in an atmosphere of like minds. So, what's new? Politics and religion have historically been integral. The greatest country on the face of the earth was created under this notion, and still thrives because of that.
That's the U.S.A., of course.

Commieobamie   September 1st, 2010 - 10:51 am

It doesn't matter what they "base" it on. The WORD of GOD is without comprimise. KKK and SATAN worshipper obaMAO are NOT CHRISTians. There are NOT many paths to GOD as the muslim USURPER states, JESUS CHRIST IS the ONLY way, the TRUTH and the LIFE. If you read or hear any of the muslim USURPER's statements about CHRIST, you will find he NEVER states JESUS CHRIST is GOD. He's a muslim, and LIES continually. He has NEVER once stated JESUS CHRIST rose from the dead.

kmichaels   September 1st, 2010 - 10:51 am

[I can't believe you right wingers who hate everybody will have the nerve to talk about religion.]

False statement number one.

[Even the KKK consider themselves a Christian organization and base their doctrines upon their own reading of the Bible]

False statement number two. They were a violent political organization, consisting of all DEMOCRATS.

[Just like some of the stuff you right wingers post.]

False statement number three. Feel free to show any posts coming from non-huff puff posers that make such claims. There are zero.

Goo   September 1st, 2010 - 10:51 am

Bye troll. You've worn out your welcome a LONG time ago.

2012yet   September 1st, 2010 - 10:53 am

Hey Man…..you said:Even the KKK consider themselves a Christian organization and base their doctrines upon their own reading of the Bible

Um….that's the point. The KKK is an organizational spawn of the democrat party which perverts christianity just like Rev. Wright and, to lesser degrees, Pelosi and the gang. Libs use and twist whatever they can to hide their true actions behind something that looks "righteous." I see that point, sorry I meant FACT, was lost on you.

kmichaels   September 1st, 2010 - 10:54 am

Blacks go along with abortion for various reasons,
mostly financial, and mostly encouraged by white
elitists coupled with Planned Parenthood.

Planned Parenthood was founded by Margaret Sanger
who gave lectures to the KKK and was a known eugenist
that hated blacks. There has been a concerted white
effort to push abortion the strongest in black neighborhoods
for the soul purpose of getting rid of blacks while increasing
the white population.

The majority of blacks still disapprove of
abortion, however it is true that per capita
there are three times more black abortions than
there are white abortions.

Bimmcorp   September 1st, 2010 - 10:55 am

I am one of those "right wingers" as you call me. And guess what, Kunte Kinte? I don't hate anybody. I love mankind. I even love you, my friend. I hate your bigotry, and I hate your vehemence, but I love you none the less, and I pray that God touches your wounded soul with His Grace, just as He has touched mine………..peace……….Joe

Goo   September 1st, 2010 - 10:59 am

The split in this nation is with mainline and evangelical churches.

A list of mainline denominations will give you some perspective:

ELCA (Evangelical Lutheran Church of America) – Advocates Social Justice, Gay Marriage, Gay Pastors
UMC (United Methodist Church) – Advocates Social Justice, Considering the acceptance of Gay Marriage, Gay Pastors
UCC (United Church of Christ) – Advocates Social Justice, Gay Marriage, Gay Pastors
PCUSA (Presbyterian Church of the United States of America) – Advocates Social Justice, Considering the ordaining of Gay Pastors, "Wrestling with the question of Gay Marriage")
TECUS (The Episcopal Church (United States) – Advocates Social Justice, Gay Pastors and Bishops, Gay Marriage

Do you see the pattern?

All of these churches are apostate. They are also dying.

DarthShatner   September 1st, 2010 - 11:02 am

Fred Phelps considers himself a great Christian. LOL

Phelps has been an active contributor to the Democratic Party
and was enthusiastic supporter of Al Gore for President in 1988.

Phelps's son, Fred Phelps, Jr., also served as a delegate for Gore.

Fred Phelps is a registered Democrat in Kansas.

TalkingDust   September 1st, 2010 - 12:36 pm

Interesting. I wonder how the stats work out for unwed Black vs White mothers nationally.

TalkingDust   September 1st, 2010 - 12:39 pm

Yes, I see the pattern, Goo. Churches are "going Gay" all over the place. They probably think there's a pot o' gold at the end of that rainbow sticker.

I guess the majority of non-denominational evangelical churches remain opposed to homosexual clergy, right?

Jewish denominations are also wrestling with the homosexual issue. Because I gravitate to orthodoxy, I don't know how Reform and Conservative Rabbis view the issue.

Goo   September 1st, 2010 - 12:53 pm

Thank you, my Jewish brother. :)

It's a pretty clear issue issue. Whether you are Christian or Jewish, both the TaNaK and New Testament are very clear that this behaviour is a deviation of scripture, and God's law. As much as some of our fellow believers want to re-write the Word of God, it is clear that trend is Godless, and leads to apostacy.

Now for those who say this is hatred, I would say this: God hates the sin…never the sinner. If Man turns from their sin, God will embrace them. If they stay in darkness, they will be lost to it. I think that YHWH was clear in that respect throughout all generations.

sheapdog420   September 1st, 2010 - 2:04 pm

Not really surprised, but all the same, religious FREAKS are annoying. Just look at the religious freak who protests soldiers deaths saying "they deserved to die". That man needs an @$$ whooping badly. And people who try and preach to me thinking they know better than those of us who don't regularly attend church, Foxtrot Oscar! God and I have an understanding, we've been through our disagreements and made amends. We have come to an understanding. I don't need to attend a church of one particular faith to live an honorable life by the standards of God and man.

But does Christ consider Fred Phelps a Christian? That is what should be considered.

fantum   September 1st, 2010 - 2:42 pm

It is human nature to seek God. Americans have allowed Liberal progressives to push God out of our government and out our lives and that in turn has left an empty spot. Attempting to fill that emptiness is what leads good people to follow what seem to be well meaning causes such as "global warming," "gay marriage," or "hope and change."

When these causes are exposed as frauds, it leaves the Liberals in despair and disarray as day after day they witness their progressive heroes twist and turn as their lies become more and more bizarre. Even then, in their depression, they turn to alcohol, drugs, immoral behavior and all the other vices of man.

The answer is simple, continue your search for God, he has not abandoned you, he is there for you. Even more important, save your children. Don't let those impressionable young minds follow the progressive frauds down the same path. YOUR CHILDREN ARE IN DANGER! AMERICA IS IN DANGER!

House Bill HR4530 – Democrats are pushing sexual perversion in school.

Fred Phelps represents Democratic ideals in the same way that serial rapist and mass murderer Ted Bundy represents Republican ideals. Bundy worked on the re-election campaign of Washington's Republican Governor Dan Evans in 1973. After winning re-election, Evans, in a display of impeccable judgment, appointed Bundy to the Seattle Crime Prevention Advisory Committee. So you see, ANYBODY CAN PLAY THE UNINFORMATIVE AND UTTERLY MEANINGLESS GUILT-BY-ASSOCIATION GAME. Trying to link X with Y, when in fact X and Y are unrelated is an effort in sheer folly and futility. Learn something kmichaels….

Most of the extreme right attend FAKE rightwing civilian Church that gives them their weekly marching orders because they are incapable of thinking for themselves.

Statistics, and they don't lie, you can look it up, say that The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints is the fastest growing religion on the planet. I seriously doubt that we are going to die out. We add about 300 to 400,000 new members every year, or about 3.5% yearly. Take a look at that exponentially and tell me where we will be in 50 years, or a 100 years???? (14 Million current members, more than 50% outside of US and over 80,000 worldwide missionaries)

Sorry, your stuck with us "Mormons" and our plain white toast, and carrot Jello, and white shirts and bicycles. And please don't even bring up being a white European church, our biggest growth right now is in South America and Africa…..Lots of Black and Brown Brothers and Sisters.

kmichaels   September 2nd, 2010 - 12:39 pm

Christian scriptures point out that Christ came to call the sinners to
repentance, not the righteous. Implying that we all have our
respective weaknesses. The sign of a true Christian is that
he, by his fruits, shows that he is making effort to become more
like Christ. Christ admonishes his followers to "Be ye therefore perfect,
even as your Father which is in heaven is perfect."

So, what manner of person is Bill Clinton? I have no way of knowing
for sure. Did he make mistakes towards his wife and she towards him?
Most certainly. However, repentance is available for one and all.
The key is whether or not he is taking steps to recognize his sins,
acknowledge them, and the most important step, do them no more.
Repentance is a process. And may need to be repeated in some
cases until we become perfect in the areas in which we are weak.

And the goal of working towards perfection in God is to become
one with God as the following scriptures point out. And church
attendance is an aid to help us become one together.

John 17: (Jesus speaking)
20 Neither pray I for these alone, but for them also which shall believe on me through their word;
21 That they all may be one; as thou, Father, art in me, and I in thee, that they also may be one in us:
that the world may believe that thou hast sent me.
22 And the glory which thou gavest me I have given them; that they may be one, even as we are one:
23 I in them, and thou in me, that they may be made perfect in one; and that the world may know that
thou hast sent me, and hast loved them, as thou hast loved me.

kmichaels   September 2nd, 2010 - 12:44 pm

No, Phelps is not a Christian, he is a liar
that happens to be a Democrat. Much
like the KKK who were almost all Democrats
and were all liars.

Just because a person labels himself
as this or that does not make it true.

That is why Christian scriptures teach
that by their "fruits/works" ye shall
know them, not by their claims or
labels.

Any adult understands this concept.
Why can't you?

kmichaels   September 2nd, 2010 - 12:46 pm

Yet you and bozo butt buddy YellowLiar are happy
to say that Phelps represents Christian ideals, which
is the key point and evidence of both your hypocrisy
and the hypocrisy of that idiotic troll YellowLiar.

So, if you say he does not represent Democrat ideals
then you should be able to understand clearly that
neither does he represent Christian ideals.

And as statistics illustrate, it appears that Democrats
tend to be less prone to actually living up to their
claims than do Republicans, which is the point
of this article.

kmichaels   September 2nd, 2010 - 12:47 pm

Funny, but you have none of the things
you claim you have. Which makes
you a liar. But we knew that about

kmichaels   September 2nd, 2010 - 12:48 pm

So, you are thinking we should deliver
a lengthy flowering lecture about
Yellow liar boiling down to the same
conclusion that he is indeed stupid?
What would the point be? YellowLiar
still ends up stupid.

kmichaels   September 2nd, 2010 - 12:52 pm

It would be logical to assume that without a father to support the soon to be mother
that the number of abortions will rise. That is also a common problem in black
culture, that black fathers so often abandon their females and their offspring. This
weakness is also promoted by the same white elitists that preach that government
is the solution to social problems.

It is obvious that the more blacks vote for liberal methodology the worse off
blacks as a community become. And liberals, being totally uncaring about
the plight of blacks, continue to keep them uneducated and poor because
they make more gullible voters that way.

kmichaels   September 2nd, 2010 - 12:55 pm

Christianity (mormons included) are not threatened by being taken over
by secular liberalism either. The stone cut out of the mountain, without hands,

be destroyed by it and the meek will indeed inherit the earth.
