Report: Chicago Fox Station Ordered Not to Air Anti-Olympics Story

"Just let Rio host the 2016 Olympics. We don't mind. Honest."

Editor's note: The complete video from Chicagoans for Rio can be found in the related section below.

The Drudge Report cites inside sources that claim WFLD-TV station management ordered that this story not be re-aired after they received a complaint from the Chicago Olympic Committee. That link is in the related section below.

Why even bother? Obama will get his Olympics that’s a done deal. The Olympic commit and Ad Council ran anti Bush ad’s they are a very leftist organization.

I live in Chicago—Fox News is leading their News tonight and last night with a film of an Honor Roll Student being beaten to death by Chicago Gang members on his way home from school and in front of a Youth Community Center. This film alone should be enough for the IOC, presently in Copenhagen making their City decision, to NOT choose Chicago—its dangerous here folks…two college kids were killed last night after the youth was beaten to death on Friday—and just this morning (after midnight) a person was shot at the Rock n Roll McDonalds in the exclusive River North (tourist) area of downtown. Its out of control. I’m sorry to say its all, yes, all Blacks involved in these beatings, shootings, and killings this weekends, but thats the reality here now…poor angry Black Youths are killing other people. Our Mayor is not doing his part to bring them hope through jobs, training, education, recreation—he’s only concerned about getting the Olympics. So very sad, a whole generation and culture is dying. We dont need the Olympics, let Rio, or Madrid, or Tokyo have them—they at least can control their criminal element where tourists wont be harmed or killed.

They could involve the spectators in the “100 yard dash from rampant Black criminals” if they hold it in Chicago.

Good post, Bob…although it was no less than Benjamin Franklin himself who warned, and I quote: “He that lives upon hope will die fasting.”

Good advice, for the Obamaniks — not that they’re listening, or anything. They and their esteemed leader aren’t known for listening to the common folk, since the election — that’s why they’re in increasingly dire political straits.

The citizens of Atlanta and Georgia got tricked into thinking the Olympics was some sort of cash wind fall, and it wasn’t every one how tried to make a buck lost out big time…. Its not worth it, the fans go to the events and don’t spend money in town..

Richard Douglas “Dick” Lamm is an American politician, Certified Public Accountant, and lawyer. He served three terms as Governor of Colorado as a Democrat (1975–1987)

I disagreed with everything Lamm stood for, cept this…

In 1972, as a member of the Colorado General Assembly, Lamm led the movement against Denver’s hosting of the 1976 Winter Olympics. Denver had already been awarded the games, but the movement succeeded in cutting off public funding for the games, forcing the city to cancel its hosting. Innsbruck, Austria replaced Denver as the host. Lamm’s successful effort made him known statewide.

“its all, yes, all Blacks involved in these beatings, shootings, and killings this weekends”

Not to argue with you but if that’s the issue, Rio would be no solution. Rio has a terrible crime problem and it’s overwhelmingly blacks there too. But who cares anyway? The real reason not to have the Olympics here is that both the City of Chicago and the State of Illinois are near bankruptcy. If the voters were rational (Hah!) or the politicians were honest (HA HA HA….), then nobody would even think twice about such an obviously stupid move. The fact that it will probably happen is just more proof that the late, great USA is no longer capable of self-government.

Somebody needs to colonize us so we don’t hurt ourselves…

mike   September 27th, 2009 - 10:36 pm

Denver voters sent the games packing a bunch of years back, best vote I ever made. public private partnerships = the elite play the public pays. send it to reo.

Chicago is a hardcore city. Last time I was there was for Blues Fest last Summer.
Went over with a friend last Spring through the southside….oh-boy?
First time I’d ever been through that area…scarey chit, and it was in the daytime.

Color me livid   September 27th, 2009 - 10:36 pm

The Olympics were a cancer to Atlanta, but we didn’t realize it for years. Fifteen years ago, before the Olympics BOOM, there were very few ill eagles in our neighborhood, and now they’ve taken over our entire city and county. Our son can’t find a job, and every traffic intersection looks like a UN convention. Houses are lined with Mexican meth just steps or feet or yards from us, somewhere too close by.

Likelihood   September 27th, 2009 - 10:37 pm

I don’t know this for a fact, but I strongly suspect that Chicago will indeed be selected by the Olympic Committee — for no other reason than that Obama is from there (at least, after he left Hawaii, Indonesia, etc), and they want to be politically correct and ‘not look racist’. It’s just the ‘thing’ to do nowadays, you know? You suck up to Obama and kiss his butt, with no dissent conceivable, unless you’re a hooded KKK freak or something. You HAVE to show your loyalty and support to America’s first ‘black’ leader (although he’s not really fully black), otherwise you’re a racist. And in my opinion, the committee will completely prostrate itself to that stupid thinking. I hope I’m wrong, though.

babalooey   September 27th, 2009 - 10:39 pm

I’m sure Obambi will find a way to kill this story.

Michael Gordon   September 27th, 2009 - 10:39 pm

What a bunch of sissies. Of course the Olympic committee knows there are people against hosting the games in every one of the finalist cities. The real concern is the extent that all the insecure, paranoid hand-wringing surrounding this Fox report will actually backfire and turn the committee off. Perhaps a better reaction would be to laugh about it and show the committee we have a sense of humor. Or keep wimpering and chalk up another “Wait until next year” for Chicago.

babalooey   September 27th, 2009 - 10:40 pm

Send the Olympics to Mecca.

betty   September 27th, 2009 - 10:52 pm

Do the Olympics really want to be connected in any way, shape or form to the totally corrupt Chicago?!? Are you kidding me? Do you know how much corruption is in place already for construction for the games? Please – Chicagoans DO NOT want the Olympics – it will only make Daley and the crooked contractors happy. Where is the money going to come from? Chicagoans? Uh, anyone check lately with the economy? The city that gets the Olympics is the real loser.

I like it: ‘ill eagles.’ I saw it in my small midwestern hometown, too, when I went back to visit this past summer: Latino’s, latino’s, everywhere. They send their kids to school, and yet don’t want them learning English (I heard this from an old family friend, a teacher, there). My hometown, and Atlanta, needs to DEPORT every one of those d-mned people, and send them on a one-way ticket back south of the border. They aren’t Americans, come from a foreign and alien race and culture, and have nothing whatsoever in common with us — and are only stinking up every inch of land they occupy. Send ‘em home — and make sure their espanol goes with them! Comprende?

KK   September 27th, 2009 - 11:03 pm

But they couldn’t (and didn’t even try to) verify any of the claims on the Web site, couldn’t confirm that any of the people on the site were actually from Chicago, couldn’t even find anyone connected to the site. They shouldn’t have been gagged, but common journalistic practice would say you don’t even run with a story like that without doing a little thing called “reporting.” They’re just lazy excuses for journalists that shouldn’t be given the keys to the cameras. Just more proof that Fox will take anything they find off the Internets and give it air time if it’s even remotely controversial. Who cares if it’s relevant or even true. The mouth-breathing simpletons glued to their TVs will suck it in and regurgitate it with moronic glee (evidence above).

“babalooey – Send the Olympics to Mecca” GREAT IDEA!!!

One note: The 1984 Olympics in Los Angeles were the first Olympics to ever show a profit for the hosting city. Ever.

I don’t think we have the people in Chicago to pull it off… It is just WAY too corrupt there.

Red Ruffansore   September 27th, 2009 - 11:09 pm

Since when does an Olympic committee have the power to tell a news station what to print? Now if you have news that a republican had a baby from a space alien or that George Bush secretly held a supper club in the basement of the White house where they dined on poor children and made their liver into pate, by gosh hold the presses and run that story. In the mean time, this is the Dali Bama’s home town and we need to get the grift workin baby. Hope and change an all that doncha know.

The Blacks alias brown shirts now control Chicago/Berlin normal people refuse to go to Chicago/Berlin, Now to complete the ruse will be the messiah Obama/Hitler and the socialist party to host the olympics. I wonder who will be the great white savior as in (Jesse Owens) from… Texas? This is unreal but sad and true. Seig Heil Mein Fuerer Obama

Freedom Patriot   September 27th, 2009 - 11:13 pm

I hope the Olympic committee will choose a venue other than Chicago. The last time I was in Chicago, I attended a convention. The truck parked in the convention hall parking lot was broken into and my company’s product stolen. The product was not high value computers or TVs. Nobody took responsibility, not the union, not the facility. It is obvious to me that organized crime was responsible. I don’t think the Olympic Committee can afford to have all of their stuff stolen. If they do choose Chicago, I hope they buy some iron clad insurance to recover the value of all their stuff that will be stolen.

Veritas   September 27th, 2009 - 11:13 pm

Like Dontflag me said, Chicago will get it. This was in the works a while back. This is all part of what was planned to celebrate the One. Now as Obama’s star has begun to dim, it seems to be like the commercials you see on tv for the fair that has already ended.

airdoc   September 27th, 2009 - 11:15 pm

president obama has already sent a personal letter (on white house letterhead) to the IOC. Michele obama is leading the charge. Hmmm, let me think who told the tv station not to run this story.

LakeMichigansunshine   September 27th, 2009 - 11:15 pm

With all the people out of work and no jobs in the future, how can Chicago afford more taxes to pay for Obama’s dream? Who wants the olympics? Obama and his groupies are crazy to put Chicago through this. This money could be better spent on police, and social programs to control the ms14 gangs in Chicago. They need money to hire more police to protect citizens-that should be there most pressing problem. I live in Michigan and feel the pain of the average person in the Chicao area. Stand up and protest do not put up with the Obama gang who are pushing you around!

WGN radio this weekend interviewed the leader of a local anti-Olympics citizen group. Afterward, I searched local media for more info, and wasn’t surprised not to see any stories in the Chicago Trib. Thank God for Drudge and Breitbart. How dare editors of so-called free-speech media kill a story for political reasons. I’ll likely move out of Cook County when the economy picks up, sooner if I get layed-off. Sick of corrupt politicians always getting re-elected. Now, I can’t even count on Fox in Chicago to be fair and balanced.

Steve Moudry   September 27th, 2009 - 11:23 pm

Since when do people not want the Olympics in their city, let alone their country?? I get all of the “this could happen, that could happen” arguments but I just think that people are going to regret the way they acted if we do not get 2016 Olympics for all the things that Chicago will miss out on.

Ripped Off   September 27th, 2009 - 11:24 pm

In Vancouver, we (or, at least our grandchildren) hope to pay for our 2010 Olympics within 30-35 years or at a worst case scenario, by 2050.

Question: Who owns the real estate where the Olympic venues will be built?

Answer: Check the Democratic Machine (maybe Valerie Jarret?)

WhoCaresFU   September 27th, 2009 - 11:38 pm

Michelle Obama in person should be enough to scare the Olympic committee. So, rest assured, the Olympics will not be here in 2016.

Dalton   September 27th, 2009 - 11:41 pm

One important fact left out of the story: It appears the “Chicagoans for Rio” website might be a fraud, as it is being run by a Brazilian from a computer in Brazil. Fox is wise to hold off on the story until the truth can be ascertained. Contrary to what many here would have you believe, Summer Olympic Games are highly coveted and Rio is pulling out all the stops to get it, even stooping to shameless lies about the other bid cities. As corrupt as Chicago can be, can you imagine what goes on in Rio?

BJC   September 27th, 2009 - 11:41 pm

Look under the video and click on the Chicagoans for Rio: Homepage and go there. It’s pretty cool. Put your comment on it. It tells you about the crime in Chicago the last week and the cost of the olympics after it’s over.

Dalton   September 27th, 2009 - 11:56 pm

BJC: Does the website compare the crime in Chicago to Rio? I bet not, as it is 10X worse there.

American Olympic games have been profitable to the host cities, because we do not build white elephant stadiums like Beijing, Athens, Montreal, etc. have. Montreal only recently retired the debt on their 1976 olympic stadium! In contrast, Chicago will build a temporary stadium for opening/closing ceremonies in Washington Park and scale it back after the event is over. Other existing stadiums/venues will be used such as McCormack Place, Soldier Field, and the United Center. An Olympic Village will be built along the south shore of Lake Michigan and the housing will be sold after the games.

A “world class city” does not rest on its laurels, but continues to build links to the world. Detroit was “King of the World” in the 1940s. Now look at it. Pittsburg was the steel capital of the world – now look at it. A city that does not constantly strive to reinvent and promote itself declines and perishes. What if Chicago had been content with being Hog Butcher for the World or America’s greatest rail transportation center. Where would it be now? The world thinks of Chicago in those outdated terms. Chicago will benefit from the makeover the Olympics will provide and become a true “world class city”.

I was all for the Olympics coming to Chicago until Mayor Daley backed it with a Blank Check drawn on Public Money, as this is now a Scam to rape the Chicago, Cook County, Illinois & American Tax Payer. As no matter what the figures we be, it will come back as a Loss, with all of us on the Hook for picking up the Tab!!!
You are Kidding yourself if you think that the Chicago Machine hasn’t figured out a way to fudge the Numbers and Cook the books and end up demanding that the Feds Bail them out with a Couple Billion Bucks, to cover this Monstrosity! Of Course Obama and his Merry Men will fork over whatever Mayor Daley wants.
We are Chicago, we have Stadiums, and plenty of other existing Structures that can be made ready to handle any Sporting event without any kind of Major Effort or disruption to all of us who live here.
If Chicago really wants to Spend a lot of Money on some real Public Projects, put an International Airport/Water Filtration Plant/Fishery/Marinas out in the lake!!!

With all the crime being reported in Chicago and the liberals who protest the wars overseas as being “too dangerous” I think the best thing that the U.S. could do is obvious. We need to get out of Chicago before more lives are lost in the failed wars on crime and poverty.

Chicago and the Olympics: they deserve each other.

Chicago has banned guns….oh, those criminals must be salivating at the prospect of getting the Olympics in Chicago. All those tourists with all that cash…..and totally unprotected. Chicago is at the top of the homicide list since they banned guns. Crime is worse in Rio – really? Yes, the crooked politicians, crooked contractors and thieves are salivating at the opportunities the Olympics will bring. The losers? Chicago citizens. Maybe Daley has poured millions of dollars upgrading the city – NO benefit will come to the people of the city as a result of the Olympic award. Chicagoans will bear the burden of the debt and the inconvenience.

Erick   September 28th, 2009 - 12:35 am

This is complete nonsense. Chicago is the most corrupt city in America and the idiots who voted for “the one” should be ashamed. Really ashamed. They have harmed America. The buffoon in the white house knows he has pulled off his insane con; the biggest one in history. He has an unlimited expense account, free rent and a nice ride. He is laughing as I type at all the white imbeciles who voted for him. He is easily the worst individual to be president in American history. I fear for our country. How could people make such a huge mistake?

Randyrocker   September 28th, 2009 - 12:40 am

Chicago does not deserve the Olympics due to the vast number of murders committed in the windy city. Do the people of Chicago actually want visitors to the Olympics to be met with death threats, violence, and murder? After all Chicago is fast becoming the murder capital of the world. The Olympic Committee should reject Chicago’s bid out right, and if Michelle Obama wants it, she should visit the murder districts her husband managed to be responsible for and see the state of affairs her and her husband have left in their wake. Shame on the Obama’s for inviting the world to a city that sleeps in fear, and has one of the most corrupt police forces in United States of America. Chicago doesn’t deserve anything like the Olympics until they clean out the scum that have destroyed the place.

Black Eagle   September 28th, 2009 - 12:43 am

Ever hear of poor Irish, Jewish, Dutch, Italian or Greek kids doing such frequent killings as seen in the black communities? Hardly. They all have fights and tussles, like young bucks in rutting season, but don’t go for the jugular, or try to rip off people’s faces as seen in our black and Hispanic communities. The reason is, all their “community actvists” and favorite rap-stars, as well as some teachers and politicians, have brainwashed them into blaming everyone else for their problems. I mean, these young gang hoodlums are not exactly breaking into supermarkets to steal food, out of hunger or something. And I would bet, the ones doing the violence have plenty of money in their pockets. No, they are simply filled with rage, often by very bad, neglectful parenting, their minds filled with rot from leftist victimhood propaganda. And their hate-rage is turned against everyone who is not like them, not filled with poisonous hate. So they go after the softer kids, the good students, the ones who aren’t gang members and such. Or anyone who happens to tic them off on the street. “He disrespected me”, the typical claim of an ignorant street tough standing before the judge, with blood on his hands. Even studies on monkeys shows, without proper parenting, the offspring become psychotic and violent. Jesse Jackson once said, in a rare moment of truth-telling, that there are “more blacks killed in one year by other blacks in urban violence, than the total number who were killed by the Ku Klux Klan since reconstruction”. And that is an accurate statistic. The blame is on their own damn community. But yes, let’s have the Olympics in Obama-land, to show what incompetence and violent criminal activity can do to further destroy the reputation of the USA in the world. And when you get sick enough of the gang violence, then realize the only way to stop it is to develop a kick-ass police force allowed to use the truncheon against the violent “youths”, with serious penalties for even the youngest offenders. Guiliani did this in NYC and it did clean up the worst of it. These are not “troubled youth” in the sense of prior generations, as today they are guided and organized by older mobsters and criminal rappers, who are their role models. Even black politicians are prone to apologize for the violence in their home communities. Liberalism has failed miserably to check this problem, which they helped to create.

Based on the hatred being shown for the Obamas, I guess it is futile to point out that Olympic bid for Chicago was started at least 2 years ago. Yeah. Blame Obama.

Richard in Tokyo   September 28th, 2009 - 12:53 am

I’m kinda hoping Tokyo gets it and not Chicago, just to stick it to Obama. Obama has more pressing matters to deal with than trying to bring the Olympics to Chicago, new unemploment numbers come out next week and I’m giving it a 50-50 shot of hitting 10% (its at 9.7 right now, up from 9.4 the month before) and he is not only taking time his own time away from dealing the economy but has people working in the administration on the Olympics? Besides Japan has had a flat economy for the last 20 years, they could really use the boost. And Tokyo is a great city, its just like New York (great food, a lot of people, tall buildings, taxi drivers don’t speak English) only poeple are really polite, most public transportation and most of the people using it are clean, and waitresses wont take tips.

So I say it’s time to tell PREZer0bama, “Keep your freakin’ fingers out of everyone’s pie! Or maybe instead, put them together so you can firmly shove them down your freakin’ pie-hole ’til you either suffocate yourself or choke on your own freakin’ puke you punk!”

Yeah, I think that about says it… Then again, chugging a ‘forty’ of Drano® would work too. PREZer0bama- YOU make the call!

Look, I don’t like Obama or Daley’s Machine anymore than most regular Drudge readers do. Yes, the AAs on the southside are running amok thanks to the “community organizing” of Obama, “Rev.” Wright, ACORN etc., Daley’s neglect, and foolish gun laws that favor criminals over law abiding citizens. But why you would support a Brazilian city over an American one for the 2016 Games is beyond me. It’s like cutting off your nose to spite your face. The Olympics in Chicago is good for the whole country and a chance to improve conditions in some of Chicago’s most impoverished communities. And Obama and his cronies will be out of office 4 years before, so not to worry.

No city in America is perfect. But Chicago gets the job done and would put on a successful and profitable Summer Olympics. Again, if a city – or a country – doesn’t strive to lead and improve it perishes. Do we really need to play second fiddle to a developing South American country? The only ones who should be happy if Brazil beats the U.S. and gets the Games (other than Brazilians) is Hugo Chavez and other South American dictators.

Nobody “banned” the airing of this news report. It shows the depth of ignorance of your typical Drudge-reading right-wing neanderthal that they read that the video was “banned” and don’t have the criticial-thinking skills to question how on earth the IOC could “ban” a news station from running any report it wished to. If you seriously believe that is possible, I recommend you contact your local junior high school and see if they will let you sit in on a Civics class for a semester.

What’s apparent from watching the report is that the Fox station’s editorial slant on this piece to begin with is to gently mock the Chicagoans for Rio website, so it’s hardly a stretch to conclude that if the IOC contacted them and opined that giving such a group publicity, even mocking publicity, could hurt Chicago’s chances, that the Fox station reached their own editorial decision not to re-air the piece. End of story.

Olympics, the whole thing leaves me cold and unenthused. I don’t think about it until it is about to happen – I don’t miss it when it’s gone.

For the folks who spend their lives training to make a run for the gold I know it’s worth their while, but with the age of Obama upon us, don’t these people have something more useful to do with their lives – like putting all that effort into Youth Corps? Or, how about volunteering to return the earth to a green state? Then there is community organizing – go into the inner cities and make a difference for Pete’s sake, if not for Obama’s.

The ramp up to the Olympics is about the most anti Green thing going. All the resources and energy that goes into the building of the venues, the transportation, the lights, the polution, the Carbon Footprint – oh can’t you poeple see the damage you are doing!

I know we could all go on and on about the damage to the planet, but the thing that really sucks? The thing that is an insult and an afront to human dignity? It’s the cost to the local community!

The traffic, the people, the hassle and for a short turn gain to the local economy the region pays through the nose for years afterward.

And you what? That is why it will happen! In a hellish contradiction to all that is touted as a major concern in of our modern times, the cost of the Olympics will be laid on the backs of the good people of Chicago, and all the environmental issues will be set aside.

Meanwhile farmers in California go begging for water and the unemployment rate in that state is growing faster than the corn in the San Jaucin valley, but that’s the price we pay to be progressive and maintain the difficult position that has our collective heads well ensconced up into our anal cavities.

But hey, I’m glad it’s not coming to my town!

Dave_M   September 28th, 2009 - 2:09 am

So FoxNews was ORDERED not to run the story and they complied???? Who gave the order?? For an industry that is always screaming at any little effort to control about freedom of the press, they were ORDERED not to run the story…by whom? and they complied? Who was the exec that made that decision?

And the main-stream media wonders why their financial fates are circling the drain and viewers and readers are leaving them in droves. Why stay? All they are is the shill for the political power. No wonder why the British news websites are getting so many more hits from the USA now. Our media is finished. And they are starting to realize it.

Fascism is alive and well and living in the White House. They will control what you print, what you think, what you say, what you eat, what you drive, what you light your house with, how you heat your house, what you drink, how much you weigh, and what doctors you can see. You think there is ANYTHING they won’t control by the time we can vote these fascists out of office?

Impeach Obama and his Marxist Mafia, and vote against ALL incumbents. We need a complete do-over in Congress.

Don’t take your eyes off congress / senate.

It’s obvious that POTUS waited until now to confront Iran, delayed decision on Afghanistan, gave controversial speeches at U.N., imigration AMNESTY, racial speech at the CBC, and many other distractions…. to slide toxic policy in under the radar, or at least with less resistance.

Dalton @ 11:56 pm makes some good points.

I live in a nearby suburb. I have not looked into this whole issue deeply enough but I think it could be good for Chicago.

Regarding the FOX report; I think it’s outrageous that they parrot a web-site(???) without even bothering to fact-check its claims. Very, very poor. We’ve gone from slanting the news by virtue of omission to parroting websites. I am sure there is plenty of analysis out there. I thought LA, Lake Placid, and Atlanta were all profitable and the US has fared better than other countries. I think part of it had to do with so much private funding vs public (at least in the past).

Oh, and can we stop the hyperbole? Chicago is not on the path to being the murder capitol of the world. It does seem like there’s been an increase recently in violent crime, but read the papers in other big cities. Not good either.

elio…at least these ‘morons’ and ‘hillbillies’ (as you have incorrectly broadbrushed them) know how to write, type and spell. Your post was utterly lacking on all three. Secondly, people who disagree with you (which is the majority of Americans) are perfectly welcome here. Lastly…I dare say, look who’s talking about being welcome in the USA. By your name and lack of grammatical skill (not to mention stupid, broadbrushing left-wing politics), I’d guess there’s a fairly decent chance that you’re an illegal alien.
If yours was just a prank post, then I apologise — otherwise shut up, learn proper English, and GO HOME, if you’re illegal!

Dalton   September 28th, 2009 - 2:25 am

Anderson, before your typed your liberal name calling kneejerk response you should have done a little research. Yes, The Drudge Report leaves out some important information. But you have it wrong too.

The Chicago Olympic Committee’s “complaint” to Fox was likely based on the fact that the “Chicagoans for Rio” site has been discovered to be a fraud perpetrated by someone affiliated with the Rio bid. The COC was well within their rights to point this out to the Chicago Fox affiliate and ask them to not replay their story, which implies that the site is a legitimate Chicago effort.

But, for the life of me, I can’t understand why many Americans want to see the U.S. lose this bid simply because Obama is from Chicago.

Nattylite   September 28th, 2009 - 2:39 am

I hope the 2016 games are held in Chicago. This way, the world can see for itself why we have so much violent crime. Our government would rather bail out big corporations, banks etc. The government should be bailing out law enforcement, supporting the troops and building community infrastructure. I believe the Liar in Thief is/was a community organizer. Maybe thats just some unfounded rumor. I dont know. DingleBarry wont be in office then anyway and whoever is will probably blame it on Bush. Yes, let the games go to Chicago so the rest of the world can see why we are so screwed up. Oh, and before I get the ‘bailout or stimulus plans were Bush’s idea’, got news for ya, the House and Senate were both in Democratic hands and came up with them. Don’t choke too hard on the hope and change.

Steve   September 28th, 2009 - 2:49 am

Every Olympics is money losing event for the host City, so unless you have a strong positive $ balance sheet, probably not wise, unless debt really doesn’t matter now or ever again.

NoDoubt   September 28th, 2009 - 2:54 am

Ohh, the thought of the “Pay to Play” opportunities must have all this Chicago and Illinois politicians
drooling.

And exactly WHO IS GOING TO PAY FOR THESE OLYMPICS ?? Folks, We are broke and the public money
COW is BROKE ! Madrid, Rio or Tokyo or TERHAN, Be my guest go on bid and spend ! The U S has no business laying out CASH private and especially tax payer money for this type of extravagant luxury crap spending.

Steve Ross   September 28th, 2009 - 3:11 am

Whats sad is that we have COWARDS on the Right wing, who claim to be the party of business, that dont have the cajones to pull this off.

Los Angeles made a HUGE profit on the olympics, and those that cliam that the cities hosting the olympics SUFFER are FULL OF SHIT!

The tourisim brings in people who spend money at Hotels, resturaunts, in museums, and local sporting events, comedy shows, gift shops, coffee shops, etc etc etc.

The constuction of new facilities brings in more jobs, and that means more revenues for employees which brings in more money for (WELL SEE ABOVE)………….The facts are that Republicans have lost there way………….They are all about FEAR and PROPOGANDA. And that this is a HEADLINE STORY on Drudge is a sign of the times.

The Republican Party, were Jesus Christ Lovers, Wall Street Scammers, Inbred southerns and Racists are all that are left!

Alex Wolf   September 28th, 2009 - 4:40 am

Guess what: Those residence of Chicago NOT wanting the Olympics there are right!!!!

I live in NYC. Unless I wanted the dredge or 3rd world nations renting my apartment (which I would have made money on unti I got the cleaning bill) . . . it was a net loss to NYC. Just like the Athens games to Greece and the games in China. Once you figure in ALL the costs of the ‘host city’ in the process.

Like the UN . . . this “event” is just an excuse to spend on very short-term infrastucture (aka appeasing your union buddies) with little to no to negative net gains. And guess what: They will still hate us more afterwards!!! Nice job on the PR front guys and gals!

Chicago – please reject these Olympic bids before the rest of the country has to bail you out like they did NYC!!!!

A sham!!!

Alex Wolf   September 28th, 2009 - 4:42 am

* net gains

(the negative gains was from an abandoned – much longer explanation of how each ‘host city’ ends up loosing)

harry   September 28th, 2009 - 5:04 am

Chicago 2016 is not a government run organization. Neither is the Fox station. I don’t see how the wording of the headline is right. Chicago 2016 complained, as is their right to do. The Fox manager responded by ordering that a particular report not repeat. This is an internal matter within the Fox station. A bone-headed decision was made, to be sure. But I don’t see this as being a government intrusion at all. We have enough government intrusion without having to make it up.

The 2002 Winter Olympics in Salt Lake City turned a profit, but that was only due to the leadership of Mitt Romney, an honest, Republican businessman whose purpose in managing the Olympics was to put on a good game and make a profit. In Chicago none of those will be true. Whoever runs it won’t be hones, it sure won’t be a Republican, it won’t be a businessman and their aim will not be to make a profit for the Olympic committee. I suppose it would be a fitting revenge on Chicago for sending us that person who is now president but I’m afraid that ultimately all of us taxpayers would be hurt by this decision.

Olympics in Chicago? Who do you think will make money if that happens. The Obamas and their corrupt cronies, that’s who. Michelle Obama, Oprah, Valerie Jarret. etc, etc, etc. It’s already discussed in Michelle Malkin’s Book Culture Of Corruption. Just one question! Who is leading this charge to get the Olympics in Chicago? Why it’s Michelle Obama, Oprah, and Valerie Jarret? What a surprise!
