Chased by Their Church: Scientologists Pursue Those Who Leave the Faith

St. Petersburg Times: The St. Petersburg Times has interviewed former high-ranking Scientology officials who coordinated the intelligence gathering and supervised the retrieval of staff who left, or "blew."

They say the church, led by David Miscavige, wanted to contain the threat that those who left might reveal secrets of life inside Scientology.

Cult. Mind-altering. Controlling. Sounds like the BO administration.

What if they have left the faith, but are still running a university founded on the faith?

I knew someone would bring up Obama. Everything’s his fault hunh? I say whoever voted for Bush twice should personally apologize to the families of all those men and women who died needlessly in Iraq!!

Scientology= creepy cult, we need to rid ourselves of these lunatics

No offense to the faith of others but it just seems by watching the news that these guys are their own worse enemies. Much like those in Hollywood and Obama.

Every witness shown here was at some point in their life so completely devoid of common sense as to be roped in by this cult. Now they want to say they’re honest and forthright and we should feel sorry for them? Why?
I say let ‘em stew in their own juices. They signed the ‘contract’ and turned their lives over to someone else. If their life needs repair, let them handle it!
There is no way to legislate against rank stupidity. There are some things that an idiot has to fix by himself.

Tee, despite the fact that Bush was a donkey in elephant’s clothing, Iraq is much better off without Hussein. Iraq, under Hussein, was in the process of building WMDs and was making a laughing stock of the UN resolutions (not that they aren’t a joke anyway). To say that our soldiers died needlessly in Iraq is a stupid, ignorant statement, and you should apologize to the thousands of innocent men, women, and children who were being slaughtered by the tyrannical regime of Saddam Hussein.

I’m just curious as to when the Scientology trolls will start making comments about how Scientology saved their lives, brought them peace, gave their lives purpose, etc.

Never fails. When a negative Scientology article comes out at BB, the Scientology trolls start loading up the board with their comments. Wait and see…

I think Obama should appoint Xenu to be the Czar of stupidity.

David Miscavige   November 2nd, 2009 - 10:48 am

Scientology intimidates and blackmails people into staying in Scientology. They spy on members. They keep files on member’s “crimes” to be used for extortion if needed. People need to stop treating this cult as if it’s a religion.

Can people just give the Obama talk a rest? I don’t even like Obama, but you just make conservatives look like compassionless trolls by joking around when the story is about people stuck in an abusive cult.

JameS   November 2nd, 2009 - 12:02 pm

All these people who want to take every unrelated video, and use it as an excuse to make vicious accusations about the president of our nation…….everyone of them is a very sick, sick individual.
Their minds are twisted, they need to go see a psychologist.

As for Scientology, this is a very serious video for me. My son was brainwashed by them twenty years ago, at age 18. He is now 38, works long hours for room and board, cannot afford a car, cannot afford a house, has no telephone or cell phone, and he thinks he is freely doing what he wants to do. When we visited him we were not allowed to see his apartment, and if I want to call him, I have to call the church offices and ask for him. Every time I have criticized Scientology, I have nearly lost all contact with him. This is very serious stuff to me and I hate that organization with a passion.

these people are nuttier than jesus freaks.

Rexter   November 2nd, 2009 - 1:23 pm

Creepier than the cult of Zionism, but less destructive.

USArtguy   November 2nd, 2009 - 5:43 pm

Tee, no one said Scientology is Obama’s fault. The implication is that Scientologists follow their leader blindly without regard to what he actually does, just like many Obama supporters blindly think Obama can do no wrong. As far as Bush voters apologizing to the families of those who have died in Iraq and Afghanistan, will you be right there with them to apologize to the families of the 300+ SO FAR who have died while Obama golfs or goes on date nights to New York? http://answers.yahoo.com/question/index?qid=20091001081619AAU7rWD

JameS, no has to make “vicious attacks”. The videos speak for themselves:

wow just wow   November 2nd, 2009 - 7:23 pm

Wow, Republicans taking advantage of a video about an abusive cult that harasses and blackmails people to take political shots. That’s cold. Did you even watch the video? Do you care about other people at all? Or do you just post any tenuous link to Obama you can find to whatever you see?

Aha! Anyone remember EST? Ehrhart Seminar Training. They were the nut jobs of the late 60’s and early 70’s. They were so brain washed under head master Werner Ehrhart: he told them that, based upon his philosophy, they could do anything that pleased them. My sister was caught up in this cult and to this day continues to believe in the basic tenets of this craziness. This was the group that couldn’t pee during a lecture…you Had to have Discipline…I began to do research on Scientology over 30 years ago and it was so dangerous at that time to dig into their group that I was forced to cancel my plans. Anyway, good riddance to EST and hopefully, one of these days Scientology will go the same way….Down and Out!

Xenu must be free   November 5th, 2009 - 1:15 pm

Intergalactic emperor Xenu will bring justice. He bringeth the evil ones in DC-8s to the volcanoes edge and drops nuclear fire on them. Free Xenu from his eternal forcefield prison. Xenu knows all about L.Ron Hubbard. Xenu knows if you’ve been sleeping and he knows if your awake. Xenu knows what you did last summer.
