The taxes will come; this deal assures it. There are three avenues for the progressives to get their greedy hands on our money:
1) The expiration of the Bush tax rates,
2) The Obamacare tax increases,
3) and the commission's proposed tax increases
The insidiousness of this deal is that Obama is off the hook for his debilitating spending, keeps most increases in place, gets him past the elections, and most importantly, for a party whose only tool is verbal marshal art, gives the progressives a plethora of ammunition to use against Repubs backed up by

Krugman also thinks the trillion dollar stimulus isn't working because it wasn't enough. He mistakes our government for a democracy when it is actually (supposed to be) a republic.
