That was totally unfair to these young men/women. First of all they get up early in the morning and work all day at their schooling and/or other activities.
To ask them to sit and listen to a guy read off a teleprompter is totally unfair and so were the cameras panning them!
This guy is constantly trying to drum up sympathy for his Islamic brothers…it is not working!

Theologically – no. Because his allegiance is to Allah, the moon god of Arabia
Religiously – no. Because no other religion is accepted by his Allah except Islam.
Scripturally – no. Because his allegiance is to the five pillars of Islam and the Quran (Koran).
Geographically – no. Because his allegiance is to Mecca , to which he turns in prayer five times a day.
Socially – no. Because his allegiance to Islam forbids him to make friends with Christians or Jews.
Politically – no. Because he must submit to the mullah (spiritual leaders), who teach annihilation of Israel and Destruction of America, the great Satan.
Domestically – no. Because he is instructed to marry four women and beat and scourge his wife when she disobeys him.
Intellectually – no. Because he cannot accept the American Constitution since it is based on Biblical principles and he believes the Bible to be corrupt.
Philosophically – no. Because Islam, Muhammad, and the Quran do not allow freedom of religion and expression. Democracy and Islam cannot co-exist. Every Muslim government is either dictatorial or autocratic.
Spiritually – no. Because when we declare “one nation under God,” the Christian’s God is loving and kind, while Allah is NEVER referred to as heavenly father, nor is he ever called love in The Quran’s 99 excellent names.
Therefore after much study and deliberation….perhaps we should be very suspicious of ALL MUSLIMS in this country. They obviously cannot be both “good” Muslims and good Americans.

Buried at Bushnell National Cemetery, Bushnell, FL & died in battle during the Seminole Wars. All I will say is “how dare this fraud put our Cadets through this sham”. 3 months of Jimmy Cartering around, only to deliver a message he cannot uphold and does not believe in. You must be very proud of your family member, Major David Moniac. He was not my family, but I feel pride knowing that you are continuing on in the patriotic path that he started for your family so many years ago!
I can only imagine how great it would be to even know of the history of my ancestry. I, myself, am only a second generation American…but had uncles who fought in WWII that I am proud of.
This is why I fight so hard to restore our government back to the people, because of people like your family that gave their lives defending her throughout the last 233 years!

I guess it doesn’t matter these kids get up at the a$$-crack of dawn and put in a full day = to most people’s week by 8pm. Not to mention he probably went back to his room and did a few hours of studying and homework after this. No time for golf.
As a midshipman, I can tell you that they were not sleeping because of being bored. The Academies have a hectic schedule, and then we are forced to go to speeches when we should be doing homework or catching up on sleep. A few years ago President Bush came here to the Naval Academy and gave a speech. I wasn’t here then, but my firsties were. The media showed a bunch of mids sleeping during the speech and claimed that we were “bored”; however, they forgot to mention that the mids had to be up at 4 in the morning. We are here to fight for our country, not pander to some political ideology. People need to stop politicizing the innocent actions of mids and cadets. Our main goal is to get through these 4 years at the Service Academies, and strive to become the kind of officers that our people deserve. Our tiredness is a sign of a biological phenomenon commonly refered to as “notgettingenoughsleep-itis”, and not a sign that we hate our President.

The video didn’t run, but from what others have said I agree. Lay off the young cadet! On the other hand even though he was required to attend the speech does not mean he was actually required to listen. So, if he was able to get some much needed rest then it was time well spent. I just wish the rest of us could wake up from this national nightmare we are being forced to sleepwalk through!!!!!!!! Wake up America and THINK next time before voting! These West Point Cadets live in a regimen that is so highly structured and chock full of non-stop activity that whenever an opportunity arises to catch a quick nap their bodies simply take over and they nap. Given that they are obligated to attend functions whether they like it or not, I can understand this Cadet’s somnolence especially given who he was ordered to listen to.
Obuffoona the teleprompter reader is as inspiring as listening to the imbeciles on “the view”…..or listening to a speech given in an unknown language. One’s skill to seem interested is truly tested.
Everyone at West Point knew that this was a sham photo-op in a vain attempt to garner credibility with the public. I just hope this kid doesn’t catch too much hell for nodding off.

It wasn’t about a sedative speech last night. It was about a political decision that risks lives of an increased number of solders and that was intentially designed to get the maximum number of votes for the incumbants in 2010 and 2012.
It was presented in such a way as to minimize association of the Afghan was with the current administration and to imply that mishandling of the effort by the previous administration is the reason this administration is dealing with the issue.
Its’ wording was designed to show an in-charge thoughtful and strong Commander-in-Chief. (ie. “I decided..”, I considered..”, I dismissed the option…”, “I I I I…” Like a college professor community organizer really knows what he is doing when it comes to a civil war being fought on the other side of the globe – yeah, right!
Its’ rationale was lame and unconvincing IMHO. Never mentioned “WINNING”. Never convinced me that goals will be accomplished by the arbitrary date set for troop withdraws starting.
WHO DOES THIS JERK THINK HE IS KIDDING!

I was in the service 40 years ago and was proud to defend my country, even though Viet Nam proved to be a lie. Now if asked ( or ordered ) to serve I’d refuse. I will not support a president who obviously hates this country, nor will I defend a congress that is thoroughly corrupt.

Actually, at least on the CNN feed, this happened to three different cadets. The first 15 minutes I paid attention to the speech, then my wife and I, after seeing the first man shown above, started paying more attention to the crowd. On two more occassions, CNN showed cadets nodding off – the last one was a close up of a woman that resulted in a quick cut-away back to the president.
Unfortunately, Obamessiah has put most Americans asleep, on purpose, I believe, so that he can complete his amerika-is-a loser campaign.

I was interested to see the lackluster reactions of the cadet audience last night. The applause, with a few, very few exceptions, was decidedly halfhearted. I’ve never seen such an obviously unconvinced, possibly bored audience.
I’m sure this was totally lost on Obama but I hope it wasn’t lost on his followers. Probably was, though, because if they couldn’t see him for what he isn’t, how could they?
The President has to do what he’s told, and therefore he spews out the usual meaningless prole-feed, which is the same hollow deception the people get from almost anything official or powerful that speaks at them. Since it is all based on total selfishness and nothing more than a cover for selfish plans, it is of no interest to anyone, not even the youngest cadet.

It’s not like these guys got any comp time for having to go listen to the speech in addition to getting there an hour early for security and “courtesies,” and you can bet most of them got up at 0600 to go to mandatory breakfast, do a parade or drill in between classes in the morning and afternoon, a hard workout in the early evening, dinner and THEN hitting this brief. Yeah, you should take this down…this makes all cadets look bad because you’re not providing context. And now, this guy is going to get his butt ripped apart.

As a cadet at West Point, everyone here is embarrassed by these retards who cant keep their eyes open for a mere 30 minutes. Granted we all had to march down there at 4:30 to sit down and get situated, they still had 3.5 hours to sleep on their own. more than enough time to catch up on their sleep. As for the situation in Afghanistan, its a necessary evil. If we go, we risk losing more soldiers and falling deeper into this depression thing that we have, if we don’t go, we risk the rise of terrorism again. Take it or leave it

These kids have more important things to do than be a captive audience. My daughter received a congressional appointment to a federal military academy and these kids only get 3 maybe 4 hours of sleep a night the first 2-3 years. I to would fall asleep to.

Cadets are up at 5:00 am, were required to show up for Obama’s speech at 04:00 pm. The speech at 08:00pm!!! So the cadets were sitting in their seats for 4 hours waiting for ObamA to start talking. The average day for a cadet is from 05:00am to 10:30pm(no choices their day is full). Obama is full of it!
Uhh, you all should know, Barry chose to make this speech where he did because he could guarantee himself that no one would be shouting out “YOU LIE” or boooing etc. He used these cadets as pawns! Pathetic Loser.
It’s funny the white soldier falling asleep is the one in this video. I watched the speech last night, and there were plenty of soldiers falling asleep, white, black, and hipanic. My only question for the president concerning his speech is..how in one breath do you say, we have debated the reasons for going into Iraq enough, I am not going to rehash that. Then in the next sentence, badmouth the previous administration for going into Iraq, following it up with telling the soldiers what a success story Iraq is.

Could have been worse. Check out the video at the link below. I slept through the lecture in the link below and through Henry Kissinger’s 2 hour speech my plebe year, just to name a couple. Cadets are tired people. Long days are filled with stress most people can’t begin to imagine. I think it’s hilarious and really doubt anyone will get in trouble.

Has anyone asked Chris Mathews what it means when “your enemy” falls asleep in your presence?
As far as the Cadet falling asleep, one would have to understand the incredible pace these young gentlemen are subject to.
Personally, I was not at all lulled to sleep by Obama’s speech. I was too busy trying to find something to throw at my T.V, whilst in a fit of rage.

The only difference between him and the other cadets was that they were trained better at sleeping while appearing awake!

Poor kid, you know his ass is in a sling as soon as this circulates (if not already). He’s smart one though…he saw right through O’s lip service and used his time well (had it not been for the cameras).
