She is absolutely right, political correctness is nothing more than control of free speech. All you libtards that think you have a constitutional right not to be offended, too bad you don’t.

Carrie… you are one class act.
God bless ‘ya !

Pkpost   May 12th, 2009 - 12:43 pm

Good for you, Ms. Prejean. It’s a nice change of pace to see someone reminding liberals that ideas such as freedom of speech they constantly preach lip service to apply to everyone – even straight white people.

Pizzarelli   May 12th, 2009 - 12:43 pm

The dirty perverted gay left in this country needs to be knocked off their feet and left to lie in the street. They don’t deserve to infiltrate our schools, our government, our military and our police force. Their opinions and agenda needs to be given a deaf ear and and ignored. Unfortunately, the democrat party is all about perversion and they have found a good home there.

Aldebaran   May 12th, 2009 - 12:44 pm

Way to speak the truth! Let it be seen by everyone how the world makes martyrs for Christ even in the 21st century.

i WILL GO OUT OF MY WAY TO WATCH THIS NEXT YEAR. TRUMP MADE THE RIGHT/OBVIOUS DECISION. PEREZ HILTON SHOULD BE FIRED AND BE MADE TO APOLOGIZE FOR CALLING HER A BIT*% AND A CU#$.
GOD BLESS HER!

Good for you. Don’t let these libs influence your own personal belief.

Brad   May 12th, 2009 - 12:54 pm

So, she’s upset about exercising her right to speak freely, but not bothered about the right to equal treatment under the law? I’m confused about not only that, but also about the supposition that free speech means that everyone must agree with you. She was not punished by the government, but by the citizens. And that, my friends, is another form of free speech. Grow up, Carrie.

sigh   May 12th, 2009 - 12:56 pm

Brad, your questions are valid, but fail to stick to topic. The point is gays responded by mistreating her for her opinion, which was presented in a civil fashion, unlike all of the bashing of her.

As far as the pageant is concerned, she should have been judged on the delivery and grace of her answer, which was close to flawless. Instead, she was judged on the answer itself and whether or not a judge agreed with it. Perez overstepped his authority and then behaved in the most heinous way blasting her answer after the pageant, calling her names.

There is a serious dichotomy of behavior, and I am afraid the pro-gay forces have been found lacking in civility and grace. Marriage has already been defined. Create a new institution if you must, and ask for the aforementioned rights to apply to that institution. You will meet with MUCH less resistance.

PCriss   May 12th, 2009 - 1:01 pm

You Go Girl! You represent many more people than the media would like to acknowledge. Your right to free speech has been violated. I give praise to Mr. Trump, not a favorite of mine, for not being led around by the media’s brass ring through his nose. Thank you, Mr. Trump, for upholding the freedoms of this “beautiful from the inside out” young lady.

My father fought in WWII, too. Shot three times for his country. He’s with the Lord now, for which I’m grateful. I don’t think he’d recognize this country anymore. It’s a sad day in America when we praise “diversity” for some but persecution for others.

Kramer   May 12th, 2009 - 1:02 pm

She is right.

PCriss   May 12th, 2009 - 1:03 pm

Brad, she was sabotaged. She wasn’t punished by the grassroots citizens, she was punished by the press and the gay agenda. You need to wake up to the “tolerance” your friends preach. You’re only tolerant if we agree with you. When we desent, you cry foul like little babies.

She had her right to her opinion. I didn’t ever hear her shove it down anyone else’s throat like the left and the media does. You’re a fool!

Facist Homosexual Democrat Nazis!   May 12th, 2009 - 1:04 pm

She’s right.

California Man   May 12th, 2009 - 1:06 pm

You are right Carrie!

It’s time we all stand up to these PC-NAZI’s!

MOST OF AMERICA AND EVEN PRESIDENT OBAMA AGREES WITH YOU!

Your grandfather would be PROUD of you!!!

Yvonne   May 12th, 2009 - 1:08 pm

This dumb blonde wasnt SABOTAGED, she could have given a not so harsh judgemental answer, something like, its not my job to judge or its not my business, instead she took Gods job away from him and decided to start judging people on stage.

So, to love one person forever devoted regardless of sexual orientation= SIN

Honey – A lot of things shouldn’t be happening in America right now. Get used to it – it’s just gonna get worse.

steffy   May 12th, 2009 - 1:10 pm

Gays will NEVER get this, will they? It’s between a man and a woman! That’s what it means. Get your own Union with it’s own laws. Your unions are different in many ways and need their own attention. Are ya dumb or just being pushy morons?

Laura   May 12th, 2009 - 1:12 pm

i suspect there were a lot more people nodding their heads in agreement with her answer than shaking their heads in disagreement. but of course the media isn’t going to cover the millions of americans and the majority of states who don’t support gay marriage. she’s not exactly expressing some extreme minority opinion here…
good for her for not compromising her beliefs to win a beauty pageant. incidentally, who did win?

My vote – Put Perez and his buds on a slow boat to Iran where they know how to deal with his/her/it’s kind

Jillene   May 12th, 2009 - 1:14 pm

I am proud of her. The left should be ashamed of the way that they have treated her. Wait…the left is a hateful bunch of drones who only believe in the first amendment when it relates to something they believe in.

onthedot   May 12th, 2009 - 1:14 pm

Gay agenda? You guys are whacked on the Koolaid, but that aside, she’s a gumball. Just because she has a perverted ditzy view of the world and spoke her mind, doesn’t mean she should be stripped of her crown. It’s not her fault she’s a few bricks shy of a full load. Besides, that whirring sound she’s making is the sound of a lawsuit anyway. Trump didn’t have a choice.

Thank you Carrie! Sorry you had to go through this. It’s a turning point in America and you did FANTASTIC!

Our once GREAT Nation is under FULL fledge attack from those who CHOOSE ON THEIR OWN NOT to join in our great society. The blame it all on race, bigotry, etc. It’s all BULLSHIT. The LARGE amounts of this group I mention are gays, blacks, muslims, hispanics, and other jelous, envious liberals who HATE America and her ways and use every excuse. NEVER will they win.

Josh   May 12th, 2009 - 1:15 pm

She’s right..but she’s still a stupid cu#$.

Dooley   May 12th, 2009 - 1:17 pm

So, she’s upset about exercising her right to speak freely, but not bothered about the right to equal treatment under the law?

Brad: You don’t get it. Carrie expressed her belief that marriage was instituted long ago, way before our country existed. The reason it’s reserved for a man and a woman is because that’s how biological families are formed. And that’s what a marriage is. Two men or two women can’t have a bio-baby. They can adopt if they wish, but let them do so as part of a civil union. That’s “equal treatment under the law” to use your phrase. Human laws don’t trump (pun intended)nature. Carrie doesn’t need to “grow up”, she has wisdom way beyond her years. And I have no problem with her semi-nude pics. It gives us all an opportunity to admire one of God’s creations. And I mean that sincerely.

Hate Filled Intolorant Democrats   May 12th, 2009 - 1:17 pm

The Democrat Obama supporters hurled their poisonous militant-homosexual fascist hate speech at this woman because she does not agree with their every single word in life.

Democrats are a mix of hate-filled Stalinist NeoMarxist Fascism.

Clue – Democrats are NOT the end all be all in life, even though they seem to think they are.

America is getting sick of Democrats fast.

Right now joe the plumer sarah palin and many other americans have a smile in their face.It was about time someone got a happy ending from the leftwing attack machine. Not many are as lucky as miss california. The liberal media and the left have many more victims that didnt get their chance to speak out.

Rob   May 12th, 2009 - 1:20 pm

My opinion is the same as Miss Prejeans on gay marriage, but I can’t see a freedom of speech issue.
No government entity was attempting to silence Miss Prejean, just people with opposing viewpoints regarding legitimizing sexual perversion.

AfterHeart   May 12th, 2009 - 1:21 pm

Just whom are these homosexuals going on a rant? Homosexual men on average die between the ages of 42 to 47 years old compared to 78 for the normal American male. Suicide is common within the homosexual community. So how can this be a normal healthy lifestyle? It cannot be. According to statistics homosexual men tend to be much more violent than normal individuals–especially within the homosexual community. Homosexual men are 5 times more likely to perpetrate a sex crime against teenage males. They are predatory. Homosexuals chronically use drugs to fuel their perversion and seek as many anal/oral sex partners as possible mostly in multiple partner settings. This is why sexually transmitted diseases are rampant and spread fast with this group.

I say all this to point out that homosexuality was considered a psychological disorder by the American Psychiatric Association before a homosexual took the helm and changed the view that it is a mental disorder. All of the above evidence certainly supports that it is a mental disorder. The rant by Perez Hilton and the homosexual left is indicative of a mental illness. Miss US Pageant officials and Hilton should be sued big time by Miss Prejean for defamation of character and slander.

waldorf   May 12th, 2009 - 1:21 pm

This woman is not only strikingly beautiful but she has courage. I for one am very proud of her and I wished she had won the whole thing. As far as that Gay Perez Hilton, well he is just a mouthy little pervert. Most of America beleives in tradiontal marriage. The left just needs to deal woth the fact that they are the minority when it comes to this subject!

Sane American   May 12th, 2009 - 1:23 pm

Brad:

Free speech is one thing;but the gay community has employed bully tactics from the beginning and few of us like that. They run a risk of backlash when they get too intense; and that is absolutely the case here.

Mr. Right   May 12th, 2009 - 1:23 pm

Whats happening in America is minority groups (racial and otherwise) for some strange reason draw the attention of the media more that the main stream. So a screaming, raving CS’er like Perez Hilton is allowed a double standard and thus can make life miserable for someone like Prejean.

Boycott NBC. Keep an eye on the rest.

I never had a problem with gays until now. They are setting themselves up as the enemy within and that isn’t a good place to be when you’re a minority.

Stop the intimidation and thuggish behavior. Behave decently and respect other people’s right to have a different opinion or your thuggishness will be returned, with interest.

Jason   May 12th, 2009 - 1:28 pm

Thanks for contributing Josh. Your intellect is stunning.

VirginiaNIck   May 12th, 2009 - 1:30 pm

Mr. trump knows how to play the game, doesn’t he? He holds a press conference to announce his decision and the press is there clamoring to hear him. He’s a marketing genius. And on top of it all he makes the right decision. Its good for Miss Prejean too because she said what most in America believe and the leftists don’t like it.

aerochick   May 12th, 2009 - 1:31 pm

I’m in full agreement with Carrie, and even though this has been difficult for her, am SO glad that this all happened in the full spotlight of the media. It has aired publicly and loudly the abject hatefulness and INtolerance of the liberal left to opinions outside of their own, and has shown everyone around the world the tip of the iceberg on the hate that resides within the hearts and minds of those spewing the horrendous names and disgusting comments about Carrie simply because she holds a tried-and-true belief that most Americans agree with. Even if she held this belief in the minority, she should never have been treated this way–she aired her view with respect and grace–not in hateful inflammatory headlines. Her treatment by the judges, the media, and the liberals simply shows the true colors of those screaming the loudest in this country. Hopefully some good will come of this, and people who have been supporting the liberal causes will finally see what they have been supporting–not catchy pc lines, but real–honest-to-goodness–hate–and they will withdraw that support asap. I’m glad that Carrie is such a strong woman–she has shown her true colors by remaining collected and respectful throughout this entire ordeal. Good for Trump for standing up for her.

carlb   May 12th, 2009 - 1:32 pm

amazing…all of you. this girl is programmed. every participant in these pageants is. you rail against gay marriage and embrace your right to objectify women. pretty abhorrent. i feel sorry for her. miss usa is the westminster kennel club for girls. it’s sad and wrong.

c   May 12th, 2009 - 1:33 pm

What a stupid lady…….

Dave   May 12th, 2009 - 1:34 pm

Gay marriage is not a civil rights issue. All gays can get married today. You just have to marry someone of the opposite sex. You know this thing called gender — an idea that goes back hundreds of millions of years.

Every gay man would sleep with Carrie Prejean. It might take a beer or 2. But they’d come away with a huge smile.

Love comes from getting to know another mind. All men call fall in love with women. And this would be good because men need women and women need men.

The idea that gay marriage is some civil rights issue analogous to what happened to blacks is ridiculous.

lynn   May 12th, 2009 - 1:34 pm

Thank you Carrie and thank you Mr. Trump!!

MISS CALIFORNIA FOR GOVERNOR   May 12th, 2009 - 1:36 pm

She has charisma and, more importantly, MORALS and STRENGTH OF CONVICTION. That makes her imminently more qualified than perhaps all Democrats and about four-fifths of Republicans.

Gandhi's Fist   May 12th, 2009 - 1:39 pm

Prejean comes up smelling like a rose in a bed of rats. Good for her.

Sigh’s post is spot on. Prejean answered that loaded question with civility and poise. The uproar from politically correct quarters has been the opposite of that. Mean spirited and–frankly–insipid.

Just as in Brad’s post demanding equal protection, this community wants absolute parity to actual marriage between a man and woman. What they don’t get is a man cannot help being a man nor a woman a woman. Being gay is not genetic (despite liberal wishful thinking), it is–if fact–a behavior, and a morally questionable one at that. Until the genome can be identified as in Down’s, affording this behavior equal rights opens a Pandora’s box for other behaviors masquerading as genetic moral imperatives and should be denied.

Like Obama and Prejean, I believe consenting adults can do what they like, but extending this particular privilege–marriage–is wrong. The politically correct attacks on her by the gay and liberal community have been and are–patently–un-American.

This back stepping by the pageant and some liberals is likely due to those who’ve written the sponsors and pageant officials expressing well deserved outrage. Keep it up.

Jopa   May 12th, 2009 - 1:39 pm

I loved Trumps comment that Carrie held the same belief as Obama. I doubt you will see him criticized by the slobering adoring media types who attack Carrie. Small wonder most media outlets are losing money hand over fist….not FOX though. LOL !!! Suck it Olbermann & Shuster !!!

carlb   May 12th, 2009 - 1:41 pm

youre an idiot
rap videos dont pretend to honor women.
gay parades? isnt a parade a celebration?
free society = the right to be disgusted by someone elses opinion, and tell them so.

Brad   May 12th, 2009 - 1:46 pm

Sigh – Thanks for the civil response, one of the few on this post. Folks, freedom of speech allows me and you to say what we want (short of “fire!”). It doesn’t provide us with class or even mandate us to show poise and manners. For Carrie to be choked up about being punished means she has a fundamental misunderstanding of the Constitution like many of her generation that was not taught Civics: Freedom of speech also enables and protects your detractors. It is not “my” right to speech, it is ours. And there are classless ones amongst us that will respond to your use of our rights.

While we are on the topic Constitution, the 14th amendment guarantees that no State shall deprive any person of life, liberty, or property and that no State shall make or enforce any law hwich shall abridge the privileges or immunities of citizens.

If we don’t protect what that document says, then we have nothing but a very short history as a country.

look at the details   May 12th, 2009 - 1:47 pm

@ carlb
Yeah and what do the hip hop and other music vidoes do?
Honour women?
BAWAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!
oh and gay parades are any better?
This is not about beauty pagents per sey for me, but then again, I’m not a dictator kind of person, so I take the attitude of: they can do what they want if it’s legally permitted.
I can chose to watch, participate, or promote OR or none of the above.
That’s what living in a free society means. Sometimes most need to:
Mind your own damn business and stop making other’s business an ax to grind for your personal cause.

maryam   May 12th, 2009 - 1:47 pm

I used to be pretty agnotstic when it came to gay issues. Not any more. Where have these new liberals — neolibs! — come from??? My party was the party of high-minded harmony and tolerance. I don’t recognize these angry, hatefiled militant little fascists and are too scary to stay neutral any longer.

rcs   May 12th, 2009 - 1:48 pm

God bless her.

Matt   May 12th, 2009 - 1:49 pm

OK…Ms. Prejean is a little misinformed. The First Amendment does not mean you can go around, spout what ever your views are, and not suffer any consequences. When the Founding Fathers established the First Amendment, they were not thinking about Beauty Contestants being stripped of their crowns…They were talking about the President, a member of congress, or some other elected official using their power to inflict punitive measures against individuals speaking their minds. The Miss America Pageant has nothing to do about the First Amendment. It’s a private organization and they can operate it as they see fit.

If she would have stated her opinions, and the Congress made her testify on the Hill, or thrown her in jail, or had her audited by the IRS, then THAT is a first amendment issue. This is no difference than the Dixie Chics speaking out against George Bush and then getting upset and screaming First Amendment Rights because their former fans were destroying their CDs. The fans were executing their first amendment rights!

Everyone goes running to the military and the defense of freedom, but that doesn’t mean you can say anything you want, and not expect other’s to fire back. All the First Amendment does is prevent the government from censoring speech. If the Wall Street Journal prints something you, as a private citizen, does not agree with, then you can call for a boycott and protest them. However, the government does not have that same power.

kmichaels   May 12th, 2009 - 1:52 pm

Brad May 12th, 2009 – 12:54 pm

So, she’s upset about exercising her right to speak freely, but not bothered about the right to equal treatment under the law?

The law says one man and one woman giving adult consent, not related to each other too closely, of legal age.

Gays are welcome to get married under these laws. That is equal treatment.

What gays want is unequal treatment, to satisfy their perversions. No thanks. I gladly and proudly will vote against such anti-societal nonsense.

mike   May 12th, 2009 - 1:54 pm

The disgusting, discriminatory and hate-filled comments in favor of the pageant queen on this page are a crystal clear example of the hate and bigotry that moves the right wing of this country. It is a sad day in America when a spoiled little beauty queen invokes the memory of the blood shed from her dead grandfather in war…all in an attempt to justify the fact that she is an anti-gay, discriminatory bigot. Yes, your grandfather died so you could have free speech, and no one stopped you from having that. Your grandfather also died for the rest of the world that does not believe in discrimination, who also had the right to call you out for being the bigot that you are. No one took away your rights. We simply exercised our own. For those of you on the fence of this issue…just look at these comments above. Do you really want to be part of this? Such a hate filled and dying breed of humans? I will never understand being gay. But nor will I ever understand people like this horrid, anti-American woman who believes that she is exercising her freedom by speech…by stating how she thinks another group of people should not get to enjoy the very same rights that she has…that her grandfather died for (as she weeps, give me a break.) Can I puke now? How truly twisted of an ideology.

Dean   May 12th, 2009 - 1:55 pm

She has more balls than Perez Hilton..

CBO   May 12th, 2009 - 1:56 pm

If anyone should have been punished it was the judge. He should be banned from ever judging another contest again. He is biased and has an agenda. His question never should have been allowed in the first place.

Freedom of speech is under attack. The left define tolerance as “you agree with us or else.” So if anyone disagrees with them, they resort to name calling. If someone wants to be gay, that is there choice – just don’t try to cram it down my throat or my kids’ throats.

This woman has spoken the truth. I applaud Trump for standing by her on this. It’s nice to see common sense return, even if it is for just a moment.

Steve Hollar   May 12th, 2009 - 2:02 pm

I have seen posts here saying that gays mistreated her for her comments. And that they need to be more civil about their struggles. But, yet almost every post on here is very anti gay, to the extent of “gay left in this country needs to be knocked off their feet and left to lie in the street”, and “blast all fags”. She is right, part of what makes this country great is the ability to speak your mind. You have to understand though, if you do speak your mind, it will have results one way or the other. It was a stupid quesiton to even be asked, and I have no problems with her answering the way she did. I do not agree with her answer, but hat is my opinion. I also appreciate the fact that she is able to keep her crown. I however can not accept the answer that she lost the title because of her answer. She has to accept that the answer she gives is going to be taken into consideration. She did show grace under fire by sticking to her answer, but that does not mean she should win the contest. I also believe that if she is going to take the moral high ground, she needs to appolegise for posing nude, and having breast implants paid for by the pageant program. If she is going to take the moral high ground, she is going to open herself up for judgement. Simply by entering the pageant, you open yourself up for judgement. I am a christian myself. I am apparently going to hell though because I do not beleive gay mariage is a sin. I also eat shell fish though, and wear clothes made of two different materials, but nobody ever criticizes me for that. As a Christian, we are supposed to spread the word. Right now, look at your message that you are spreading. Is it forgiveness, and leading by example, or is it judging and making yourself a sex symbol? To sum it up, I have no problem with her as a person, or with her answer. She is intitled to her opinion, but people should not put her up on a pedistal. I also agree, Perez Hilton is a joke and should not be taken seriously. He should have never asked the question in the first place. It was a lose lose situation for her.

Vic   May 12th, 2009 - 2:13 pm

Has anyone asked WHY Perez Hilton was made a judge in the first place? If you know his career and modus operandi, which I’m sure most do not, he has been devoted to exposing any privately known homosexual in the entertainment community and then sells this information to the tabloids for public consumption. What then qualifies this type of person and his means of income to be a Miss USA Pageant judge? I hold the pageant administration responsible for such an incredibly horrific choice in a judge, not Perez himself – he is what he is. What were they expecting, fluff and decorum from Hilton? Might have been a calculated move by the pageant admin to obtain publicity from the get-go. Just a thought…

TruthTeller   May 12th, 2009 - 2:18 pm

Folks- this is only the tip of the iceberg!

The liberal fascists, supported by the liberal media, mindless Hollywood Obamabots, and the sad ignorance and apathy of the US citizenry are gaining more and more power, just like in Nazi Germany.

Once fascism takes hold, it is very difficult to shake it off, because fascist/radicals will do almost anything to shut up their opposition- lie, cheat, steal, and even murder.

With an utterly incompetent, ultra radical socialist in the White House, things are going to get a LOT worse, before they get better (if ever).

“She gave a very honest answer when asked a tough question,” Trump said with Prejean sitting next to him in attendance. “It was the same answer the president of the United States gave… She has to be commended.”

So where is the hatred and outrage against Obama? If Miss Cali is a a hater of gays (according to the twisted logic of the left) then Obama and the majority of Californians that voted against gay marriage all must hate gays.

The silence is sickening.

CV   May 12th, 2009 - 2:24 pm

Put a stop to this liberal thugocracy!!!!! Put a stop to this madness perpertrated by the media and a hand full of thugs in politics, put a stop to this America, if not your voice will be culled. America wake up the normal people in this country time has come to wake up be heard and be counted as this is what our founders would want, this is what it means to be an American!!!

TDawg   May 12th, 2009 - 2:26 pm

Might I remind Miss California and the readers here that the 1st Amendment restrains the government from infringing on the right of an individual to share his opinions. It does not, however, protect that individual from the consequences that he might face from other individuals or private organizations for those opinions. Miss California made a controversial statement and she is quite naive if she thought there would be no reaction to it. Still, she is being allowed to keep her crown. How is she being punished? There is no Constitutional Amendment which requires others to agree with or even respect her opinion.

amazed   May 12th, 2009 - 2:26 pm

What a joke.

fedup   May 12th, 2009 - 2:30 pm

The liberal community should be ashamed of themselves. Here we have a young girl who was asked a question, one in which requires her to give an honest answer, and instead because she disagrees with those promoting alternative lifestyles, she should have just backed down and said it wasn’t her place to judge??? F*** that! Each of you are entitled to your opinion the same as the rest of us and should not recieve any backlash for doing so. More importantly, it should not have robbed her of the crown just because some people on the panel’s feeling were hurts. I’m wondering if she would have won had her answer been what the “gay” panel wanted to hear.

Texan4CommonSense   May 12th, 2009 - 2:32 pm

The first amendment protects free speech from government regulation or interference. How exactly has the government regulated or interfered with Ms. Prejean’s freedoms?
I also find it ironic that that she wants the government to continue to deny a civil right to others (i.e. the right to enter into a specific type of contractual relationship), but when those others criticize her about it, she complains about her rights being violated. Does she think that only people who share her opinions are entitled to free speech?

Jon   May 12th, 2009 - 2:33 pm

I’m sorry did I miss the fact that she was jailed for what she said? Or did other people use their constitutional rights in criticizing what she said? Or does she feel it’s her constitutional right to say anything she wants with no consequences? I don’t believe her rights were infringed on just because she didn’t get the crown.

Zac   May 12th, 2009 - 2:35 pm

Brad brings up the most undeniable argument in this whole mess. She utilized her rights of free speech, and so did the people. She can think or say whatever she wants. So can the judges.

So if then Perez should never be a judge again, so be it. But she was not “Punished,” as she puts it. She is getting more publicity then the woman who actually won the pageant! I don’t even KNOW who won, all I know is this woman’s name splattered all over every paper and news outlet, all day long.

Also, it’s really disheartening to see the people commenting saying things like “Fags” etc. Do you still use the N word for blacks? Maybe call your Hispanic friends Wetbacks? You have a right to say those words, and I, and hopefully most other people, have the right to be absolutely disgusted that you do.

This is not an issue of free speech… the government was not involved.

Clutz   May 12th, 2009 - 2:36 pm

She is so right. I have a lot of friends I disagree with on issues but I don’t try to destroy them. We do have freedom of speech in this country. She was asked a question and gave her answer. Perez Hilton is the one that should be told he will NEVER be a judge again for the way he reacted to her answer. Marriage IS defined as between a man and woman. If gays feel they should be ‘married’, come up with another name. I sure would hate to be raising children in today’s society. They are going to be so confused. ‘Why do I like a girl and he likes a boy? Am I wrong? Vise versa…..Sad.

JMD   May 12th, 2009 - 2:41 pm

If I was a beauty contestant and was asked the same question in today’s environment I would have said:

Hell, I definitely don’t support it. I think that homosexuality is a biological aberration. Furthermore, I think for the good of our nation, these homosexuals should stay in the closet when appropriate, and bear their burden honorably. And again furthermore, I feel very sorry for those who are have been born this way, and I am disgusted with those who have chosen to be this way.
And furthermore, should homosexuals be granted the term “marriage” or “civil unions”, then I think that the same should be extended to those that wish to marry their brother, or both their brothers. or their sister for that matter. After all, and as the gays would say “equal protection for all of us”.

Pretty crude but my opinion and freedom to express this.
(Is homo a bad word now??)

Airwick   May 12th, 2009 - 2:42 pm

Kyle,
Wow! I was going to respond but you pretty much said everything that I was thinking. Thanks for saving me time.

I would like to add one detail, however. Those of you who think that she did such a great job with her answer should take time to read the ENTIRE answer. In case you missed it, here it is:

“Well I think it’s great that Americans are able to choose one way or the other. We live in a land where you can choose same-sex marriage or opposite marriage. You know what, in my country, in my family, I do believe that marriage should be between a man and a woman, no offense to anybody out there. But that’s how I was raised and I believe that it should be between a man and a woman.”

I have no problem with where she ended. That is her opinion and she is entitled to it. The first part is utter nonsense. “Well I think it’s great that Americans are able to choose one way or the other”. Huh? They are? I thought that the whole debate that is going on right now is IF Gays can choose “one way or the other”. Clearly that is NOT the case in most states. She then follow it with a more ridiculous, “We live in a land where you can choose same-sex marriage or opposite marriage”. Really? I don’t think so. That was the gist of the question that you were asked. Also, I never thought of marriage between a man and a woman as “opposite”. I will not even attempt to decipher the “in my country, in my family” part. What clearly happened to her is that she was talking to fill up time while her brain formulated an answer. Unfortunately her brain didn’t catch up to her mouth until the end when she actually gave a pretty good answer.

The right girl won and it wasn’t her.

chrisinatl   May 12th, 2009 - 2:43 pm

Yvonne (and others) seem to reinforce the double standard that is enforced. She spoke her mind about believing that marriage is a man and a woman. So those who disagree with her by telling her she has no right to judge other people because there are topless photos of her. In fact, she is not judging other people, she is expressing her opinion and belief. The irony is that those who disagree with her are calling her morally incapable of saying she doesn’t believe in gay marriage because of the photos. By their standards she can write off their argument for gay marriage because she finds it to be against her moral tenet. Don’t you just love hypocrisy? The stance her opponents take is akin to the person who practices bestiality calling the pedophile morally reprehensible.

Moron   May 12th, 2009 - 2:44 pm

Looks like the GOP has found their running mate for Palin.

Her freedom of speech does not trump our freedom to deride her opinions. Free to speak, mandatory to accept the consequences. Now go back to being dumb, pretty and quiet, like women should be. (Boy I sure hope my outdate opinion doesn’t offend anyone in this public forum.)

Chuck Norton   May 12th, 2009 - 2:45 pm

Jed Smith   May 12th, 2009 - 2:57 pm

So, do this mean that the liberal left isn’t about “tolerance” after all? And does this mean that they were using their own definition of the word “tolerance” to further their own political purposes, meanwhile really having no concern whatsoever for being “tolerant” of those who had ideas different from them? Who woulda thunk it?

NEVER let others foist their own definitions for words upon you. He who defines the terms controls the debate!

Gandhi's Fist   May 12th, 2009 - 3:07 pm

@Andrew

Of course not. Your argument supposes though, that gay folk are genetically that way. A fact which would be pivotal to such an argument. Presently, gay behavior is just that–behavior–so extending the institution of marriage has no basis insofar as your reasoning is concerned. In fact, you point out the fundamental flaw in the gay marriage argument. Thank you.

Andrew   May 12th, 2009 - 3:11 pm

would you all agree w/ her had her comments been “i think marriage should be restricted to white people”?

Gandhi's Fist   May 12th, 2009 - 3:12 pm

@Zac

Well, you’re wrong. It is exactly about free speech. Ms. Prejean was asked a question in a pageant. Her answer was honest, respectful, principled and poised. This reply clearly cost her the contest and raised the disproportionate ire of the politically correct goon squad, now bent on smearing this young lady at every turn.

Don’t think so? Then what news have you been wattching? First off the attacks were pure ad hominem, then they found a photographer who shot some clandestine shots at a lingerie shoot. When that didn’t stick, due the winner of the pageant having near pornography published in Maxum, then they tried a “breach of contract” approach, taking time out to attack those who support this young lady by shouting, “Shame!”. You’re defending some real class acts.

For an organization run by an adulterer (Trump) and judged by a sodomite (Perez), I don’t think they’ve any moral ground to stand on. Undoubtedly they’ve been getting a volume of angry communications which–rightfully–point out their hypocrisy and un-American behavior. All aimed at a participant in a contest ostensibly designed to feature the virtues of American womanhood.

To characterize the poisonous vitriol of the left as a free speech reaction by the “people” is disingenuous. The “people” didn’t have speech, only the left wing celebrities and politically correct zealots, the liberal media saw to this. The people did speak, you just never saw it. They e-mailed and wrote Ms. USA Inc. who came apart like a cheap suit. Ms. USA Inc. understands that the opinion of a few vacuous liberal celebrities might count for something, but the tens of thousands of outraged “people” who actually let em have it, might put an end to their shenanigans. That–Zac–was free speech at it’s finest. Also a part of this story you’re not likely to see reported.

Now, what I wonder is, does that near pornographic photo shoot of the winner for Maxim mean that Ms. Prejean can be moved up into the top spot she should have had the first time around. Poetic justice would be well served should that turn of events ever occur.

Matt   May 12th, 2009 - 3:14 pm

This isn’t about free speech. This isn’t a government-run pageant for Christ sake! Give me a break!

How was she ‘punished’? Not winning Ms. America? Do the judges HAVE TO vote for her?

You guys are doing a lot of whining– The same thing you accuse liberals of doing. You’re whining because a beauty pageant idiot didn’t get voted miss America because she disagreed with gay marriage.

Kyle   May 12th, 2009 - 3:33 pm

You said it yourself Gandhi, this is a judged competition. It is up to the judges to decide who should be the top spot. It is their opinion, and their freedom of choice to choose that person. If you change their vote, you are taking away their freedom of choice, and smacking down everything here that you claim to stand for. Have you ever watched America’s Funniest Home Videos? Do you agree with every winner? Do you think the judges should have picked a different winner? Probably, because everyones opinion is different. If you agree with the judges decision or not, it is their decision, and their choice. They will not strip Miss America of her title, just as they did not strip Miss America of her title in 2006. The pageant comittee has a solid reputation for standing behind their contestants. I think more organizations should take this approach. Don’t worry though, the Replublicans will make a star out of Carrie, she has nothing to worry about. She and Joe the Plummer will be hosting events together before you know it.

Daisy   May 12th, 2009 - 3:38 pm

Brad whines, “She was not punished by the government, but by the citizens.”

No Brad. She was punished by the mainstream media, which is in bed with the Leftist government.

Funny how in just the last few years, gays have been having one hissy fit after another about wanting to be able to marry. Funny because,up until then, gays were decidedly AGAINST marriage. Guess what? Gays STILL find marriage boring; they simply want to jump on the bandwagon leading towards absolute social destruction and choke marriage until its dead. That’s the real agenda.

When the day comes when I can myself decide whether the nomenclature ’straight’ is what I want to call myself; when the day comes when I can participate in a heterosexual pride parade w/impunity; when gays admit that the ‘marriage’ question is socially destructive agenda driven .. not driven by an honest desire to marry .. when that day arrives, I’ll consider the whole discussion around ‘gay rights’ a whole lot more honest. Meanwhile, stop your whining.

Brad and Zac
When she is talking about being punished, she is obviously talking about all the hate and slander that was slung at her. It had nothing to do with actual government punishment. Your points are not valid with the argument of this forum because you are giving your points the slant that she was talking about government punishment. She did not offend anyone when she made her original comment but she certainly has been offended time and time again since the pagent. The liberal left is intolerant of anyone who does not think or say what they want.

Kyle   May 12th, 2009 - 3:51 pm

JerrySteveandDave, people are saying that the media is punishing her, society is punishing her, and now the liberal left is punishing her. But yet, her being “punished” equals, she is the miss america pageant runner up, she is being honored by the republican party, and she is now a national figure head who is more of a house hold name than the woman who actually won the pageant. She puts her body on display, puts herself up for people to judge her, but can’t take criticism when people don’t agree with her? If this is the case, she is in the wrong area. The good comes with the bad. We live in a country where roughly half of the people will have a different opinion than the other half. If you are going to put yourself on display, you are going to get criticism. An incredible equal rights figure once said “You can please some of the people some of the time, all of the people some of the time, some of the people all of the time, but you can never please all of the people all of the time.”.

Ghandi’s Fist, JerrySteveDave, Ms. Prejean brought up “being American” and invoked the Constitution. The Constitution prohibits government regulation of speech and opinion. She is not in jail, she is merely suffering the consequences of everyone sharing the right to free speech.

AND, the kicker is…it’s not even her fault. She’s 20-something. All she knows is the ignorance and the hate that her parents pounded into her head while it was still soft, and then corked it in there with a whole bunch of fear and guilt. I just feel sorry for all the dim-witted, pre-teens watching that night, looking up to her…when they grow up just like her, they, too, will never be able to figure out why no one likes them.

One of the poster here stated; the law as written in the constitution marriage is between man and woman; the constitution – the fundamental law of the land, NEVER MENTION special rights for gay people.

I was infront fighting for gays to have equal rights for benefits through their partner; BUT I draw the line in legalization of gay marriage. Gay people cannot be called husband and wife, they’re called husband and husband, wife and wife. Marriage was not created for same sex but for OPPOSITE SEX.

I’m a Democrat, my brother is gay, even he, doesn’t agree with gay marriage; according to him gay marriage is a FARCE. The only reason according to him gays are demanding for legalization of marriage between the same sex because it’s the “IN THING”.

The first couple who made an issue of gay marriage and got married in Massachussetts are now DIVORCED. You don’t hear the gay community talking about it.

NO SPECIAL RIGHTS for gay people, next thing people would also ask for SPECIAL RIGHTS to marry their PETS.

Enough of Political correctness, this lifelong democrat is sick and tired of it.

But then, most of them (the rude, noisy ones we all notice) seem to be Liberal; another, much more debilitating defect we should address first…

I seem to remember they stripped Vanessa Williams of her title because of indecent photos. But then just because she is a republican and they think they can belittle anybody they want and still get away with it, they want her to stay.

I see coulter, who is the worst for her calling for democrats be killed, rush doing the same, are still around also. But we all know republicans, they moan and whine if you dare, yes I say dare question them.

IrishAndProud   May 12th, 2009 - 5:25 pm

Sorry, Joseph Stalin (and THAT’s an appropriate name for a liberal — Stalin was left-wing too, after all)…but it’s guys like YOU who would flatly DO AWAY with handicapped people. They’re ‘burdens on society,’ remember? Does Terry Schaivo ring a bell? Were you one of the ones calling for her death, too? It was liberals who were openly and gleefully mocking John McCain during the campaign for his inability to raise his hands above his head. It’s LIBERALS who openly push for murdering unborn children. And it’s LIBERALS who spit on this woman’s right to simply speak her mind (AFTER someone ELSE asked her about it).

Piss off, piss ant!

He’s lucky he’s a a cool black dude, cuz it’s all he’s got goin’ on. He’s just a bobble-headed empty vessel, barely drinking age, who hasn’t seen or done ANYTHING in his Chicago life to qualify him to comment on anything! Want proof? He couldn’t site anything he’s ever done, but had to invoke (using a tired speech written by someone else and being a community organizer) the memory of his dead war hero gramps to justify his nationally televised perpetuation of intolerance. All he knows is the ignorance and the hate that his socialist, marxist, racist, terrorist mentors pounded into his head while it was still soft, and then corked it in there with a whole bunch of fear and guilt. I just feel sorry for all the dim-witted, pre-teens watching that night, looking up to him…when they grow up just like him, they, too, will never be able to figure out why no one likes them.

But at least his stand on gay marriage is correct, however politically expedient it may be.

I honestly cannot fathom someone being proud to declare to the entire world that they are proud to be bent over and pounded in the keester?

And that people would give these folks argument for marriage that slightest bit of credence…

Will be interesting to see how Trump comes out of this…his social circle might shrink a bit…

ela   May 12th, 2009 - 5:31 pm

Verboten, why don’t YOU knock it off with the ‘hebrews.’

Liberlism is the biggest international threat (next to militant Islam) that Jews face, nowadays. My family are Orthodox Jewish, and for you to compare being Jewish with the act of sodomy is a slap in the face to Jews.

Let me ask YOU, liberal — what do YOU think about Jews, and Israel (I’d LOVE to hear this)? Virtually every time you guys open your traps on the subject, it don’t pass for flowers.

Carrietarded   May 12th, 2009 - 5:38 pm

She was ‘punished?’ By whom? No one. She is not in jail. She is not on probation. She was not fined. No one punished her.

Free speech goes both ways. She is free to speak her mind, and others are free to call her a bigot for doing so. She can’t expect to express a controversial opinion and then tearfully demand that those whose rights are being trampled should simply nod and be quiet.

She is as misinformed about what ‘freedom’ means as her mere 21 years would suggest.

Glad her grandpa served in WWII. So did mine. But he was defending the rights of all citizens, not just the ‘majority.’

Yes, ‘marriage’ was defined long ago. So was ‘citizen’ – and it didn’t include women. So was ‘person’ – and it didn’t include blacks. I’d say traditional definitions leave much to be desired.

Marriage is solely for procreation? Fine. Then all childless couples should be forced to divorce, and receive no benefits of legal marriage.

Define marriage however you want in your church. But this is a country of laws that supposedly offer equal protection for all. Separate is not equal – Brown vs. Board of Education. And denying equal rights is far more un-american than a blogger calling a beauty queen names.

Tim   May 12th, 2009 - 6:22 pm

So, onthedot, does that mean you think Barack Obama and Hillary Clinton have a “perverted ditzy view of the world,” too? They’ve expressed the exact same sentiments on gay marriage that Carrie Prejean did.

Truth   May 12th, 2009 - 6:22 pm

She has her FREEDOM OF SPEECH. She gave her opinions. She problem is that she CAN’T HANDLE THE FREEDOM OF SPEECH in opposition to her. No one has shut her up…after all, she’s giving a freakin’ PRESS CONFERENCE..HELLO!!!! Plus, her argument against homosexuality being unnatural makes her a hypocrite because it is abundant in nature. She UNNATURALLY changed her body and got BREAST IMPLANTS because she wasn’t happy with how GOD MADE HER. And she conveniently justifies her semi-nude pics as PART OF THE BUSINESS. Using that logic, a prostitute who claims to be Christian, could justify her sex acts as PART OF THE BUSINESS. The truth here is that she has her freedom of speech but can’t take the criticism from others when they exercise THAT EXACT SAME RIGHT. Further she claims to be virtuous and in acceptance of s natural way of Godly living, yet she justifies semi-nude pics as part of the business, and cannot accept her natural breasts as God made her… yet she has issues with homosexuals in their NATURAL STATE OF BEING.

Daisy   May 12th, 2009 - 6:34 pm

Andrew demands: “would you all agree w/ her had her comments been “i think marriage should be restricted to white people”?”

No. And when gays stop bashing heterosexual institutions, then maybe we can have a productive conversation. I don’t want gays to marry nor do I want girls in the boy scouts. Girls can join the girl scouts, boys the boy scouts. Men and women can marry each other (and in that way keep the traditional spirit of the union intact)and gays can have civil unions (thereby keeping the nature of that union intact). What’s difficult about that?

Mario   May 12th, 2009 - 6:41 pm

Take a few nude photos and say you’re a Christian, you’re the new spokesperson for the GOP.

Gandhi's Fist   May 12th, 2009 - 6:43 pm

@Matt

Quick to throw invective, I must say. Usually the last resort of someone loosing an argument.

You insist that government must be involved for it to be free speech. Yes? As the pageant was broadcast over public (government) airwaves, it is a free speech issue as the attacks are coming by and large over those self-same airways. The broadcast media disproportionately favors secularist agendas. The secularists are also backed by the democrats, who happen to be our government. It may not strictly involve government, but one could certainly make the case for this tacit connection between the two. It’s a subtle point, I’ll agree, but there it is.

The freedom is, just that–freedom. It is not conditional freedom. While Ms. Prejean made her answer and followups, the left’s disproportionate response and attacks, including, but not limited to standard issue liberal ad hominum go well beyond the pale.

Gone are the days of “I may disagree with what you say, but would defend to the death your right to say it.” No, today it’s, “What, you don’t speak in lockstep with the amoral politically correct agenda, now we’ll have to bury you.”

Prejean (the front runner in the contest BTW) knew she was tossing her chance to walk away with the crown. Her answer reflected her beliefs and was honest, possibly courageous. A spectacular deviation from today’s politically correct hegemony and a far cry from the public excoriation the liberal media has been and is heaping hate on her.

Matt, all speech is protected, even the odious (check the liberal extremist posts for a taste), but the denigration Prejean is experiencing is slanderous and we are protected against that too. Yet no one has come to her defense. Where is the ACLU when Hilton slandered her via his sub-par blog. He shouldn’t be made to pay? Slander is a crime you know. Somehow the goverment may figure into a case of this type.

Summed up, Ms. Prejean comes off pretty well; a whole lot better than the winner of the contest. The losers here? The liberal media, hateful pundits and most certainly the sodomite judge, Perez Hilton. The majority of American’s care about this because is is an example of the egregious injustice political correctness inflicts on people. To defend what is clearly indefensible would be cause for some to question your character and intelligence, but hurling invective seems to be your specialty, so I’ll leave you to it.

McCain & Gingrich are not judging, nor have they ever judged Ms. USA–mute point. If they did, they’d only get in trouble if they thought to get on some moral high horse. I don’t even consider Haggard a religious figure.

Genome? Sure I’ve got a garden genome with a little bucket of flowers. I’ll “allele” you with that to think about.

“For an organization run by an adulterer (Trump) and judged by a sodomite (Perez), I don’t think they’ve any moral ground to stand on. Undoubtedly they’ve been getting a volume of angry communications which–rightfully–point out their hypocrisy and un-American behavior.”

John McCain and Newt Gingrich are adulterers too. I won’t mention Ted Haggard more than once. I know you feel you should stand up for a fellow Chrstian woman and you don’t like sodomites, but your argument is full of holes. You don’t even know what a genome is. Your argument is poor.

IrishAndProud   May 12th, 2009 - 7:27 pm

Freedom of speech is in the Constitution — yet so-called liberals try to SQUELCH it, if it’s something they don’t agree with.

The right to bear arms is in the Constitution, yet they must do away with that also, first chance they get.

The so-called right to ‘free choice’ — ie, abortion on demand — is NOWHERE in the Constitution, and yet it’s THE sacred cow of so-called liberalism.

Anyone else notice the utter backwardness of these people?

They want to abolish stuff that IS Constitutional, yet ram stuff down our throats that ISN’T.

BTW I said ’so-called liberals’ because REAL liberals do not oppose free speech. REAL liberals SUPPORT free speech, even if it’s something they don’t agree with. The right to free speech is specifically to protect OFFENSIVE speech — even if it’s liberals who are being offended.

Larse   May 12th, 2009 - 7:28 pm

“McCain & Gingrich are not judging, nor have they ever judged Ms. USA–mute point.”

So being a US Senator, Republican Presidential Candidate, Speaker of the House is fine, but they are not qualified to run a Miss USA pageant… Trump owns it, he does not judge it. You may want to study the real Donald Trump beyond the flamboyance… He has done more for America than you have…

“I don’t even consider Haggard a religious figure. ”

Did you before you found out about his mess.

“Genome? Sure I’ve got a garden genome with a little bucket of flowers.”

That is a “gnome”. A genome is full set of chromosomes or genes. I think you meant a DNA segment. Although you might want to look up Klinefelter’s syndrome…

“I’ll “allele” you with that to think about.”

Your trying ;) I don’t want to pick on you or anything, but your arguments are normally more sound.

kmichaels   May 12th, 2009 - 7:36 pm

When I read a leftist post, it just sounds weird and diseased for the most part. So I can understand why more and more people think that liberalism is a mental disorder. It sure seems to be true when you read Larse, mark, Dr Mary Gay Pat, BoyOnBoy, Cog Diss, and the routine droolers on these boards.

Brad   May 12th, 2009 - 7:46 pm

I ask a few questions, and then Ela posts….sigh.

Gandhi's Fist   May 12th, 2009 - 7:49 pm

@Larse,

Boy, your sense of ha-ha is completely off today. Genome/Gnome, it’s a pun.

Yes, I know what a genome is, the allele pun was a tip off, apparently, you’re not the one well versed in genetics. BTW: an allele is one member of a base pair of genes, particularly useful in determining and manipulating dominant and recessive traits in an organism.

Your not getting these meager pun-ishing offerings poses questions about how well you did in high school biology?

As for Newt, McCain, yes, that is what I’m saying. To pull them out of your hat is specious. They are not the ones judging Ms. USA. As for Haggard, I’ve always grouped televangelists in the same category as circus performers. They’re non-starters for me. The people of portent–to the contest–are Trump (who has the last word, if that wasn’t implicit in his press conference today) and the sodomite Perez who was a judge.

Ummm, I’m thinking it’s you whose coming off somewhat weak today. I suggest a breakfast cereal–maybe Wheaties–to get you back in the game.

Brad   May 12th, 2009 - 7:50 pm

You know, in addition to Ms. Prejean’s misunderstanding of the Constitution, reading this board makes me realize that about 5% of us understand our founding document. 95% just want to pick a team (Dems or Repubs) and root for them and parrot them no matter how ridiculous they sound. Can’t you all think for yourselves instead of mimicking talk show hosts and crooked politicians? Can’t we discuss anything in this country anymore without resorting directly to name calling?

Larse   May 12th, 2009 - 7:50 pm

@kmichaels

When we get about 50 more of us ‘mentally disturbed’ liberals here, we will have finally balanced out your Eileen :D

Josey (May 12, 7:15pm):

‘Flaunting her airheaded opinion?’

The lady was asked a question, and she answered it — in as basic a way as possible.

What, exactly, did you want her to do — other than give an opinion that YOU personally like?

‘What shouldn’t happen in America…?’ Josey, what are you saying? Did you really stop and think about what you just said? ‘SHOUDN’T happen?’ What, free speech that you just don’t personally agree with? Exactly what kind of place would THAT be, Josey? You also want to shut down talk radio…good Lord, Josey! Would anyone who thinks differently than you have any place in the world, if you ran things?

Thank goodness that BOTH Barack Obama and Hillary Clinton agree with Miss California on this matter, and not YOU!

Are you some kind of FASCIST, Josey? You’re no real liberal, that’s for sure.

kmichaels   May 12th, 2009 - 8:01 pm

Brad, hypocrite, seems you failed to prove your case that you are capable of nothing more than calling names. You did not show any knowledge good or bad, about the US constitution. But I am game. Lay it on us. Show us your shining scholarly reasoning on the constitution.

I have to laugh at the stupidity of people like Brad. They say we should not call names, then they call names. Brad called posters parrots, just mimicking what they hear, and incapable of understanding the US constitution.

Fine, it might even be true, but Brad dear, that is simply your way of calling people names. So how are you better?

How about you skip the fretting of name calling since everyone does it one way or the other including you and just make a darn point or two, related to the subject.

kmichaels   May 12th, 2009 - 8:02 pm

Larse, one of you is fifty times more extreme than one of Eileen. She posts long posts but mostly accurate. You post medium sized posts and mostly totally insane. So fret over yourself L-arse. You have serious mental issues.

She’s a great Christian model. She fornicates, she dresses immodestly, she poses topless for photographers, she lies and prevaricates. On top of that, she lectures like a Pharisee. I can’t wait for my daughter to become just like her.

John Campbell   May 12th, 2009 - 8:41 pm

It appears that some of the posters here only hear what they want to. Miss Prejean did NOT say her free speech rights were violated as some here want to suggest. She did say she was attacked (punished) for having exercised her free speech rights. That is accurate and exactly what happened. Miss Prejean was attacked by a leftist extremist political machine that she and most all of us don’t agree with and since that fateful event they have went out of their way to try to totally destroy any chance she may have at a career as an example to anyone else who would dare stand up to them. Typical textbook communism and fascism methodology that anyone should have learned about in high school history class. I fault Trump for having allowed a known leftist extremist such as Perez to be a judge in the first place, but due to Trump’s failure to use his long famous words of “YOU’RE FIRED” with regard to Perez I’ll not be associated with anything that is Trump until that happens.

The vitriolic remarks directed toward ‘the left’ illustrate a disturbing trend of shallow and divisive ideology that is seemingly regurgitated from the indoctrination of ignorance that evidently prevails in our country.

Democrats and Republicans…Go mindless cheerleaders!

“This Should Not Happen in America”

You’re right, Carrie. In our country, minority groups should be free from living under the tyranny of the majority. Majority factions aren’t allowed to force certain minority groups to live a certain way, right?

Isn’t that what the Federalist papers were all about? some 250 years ago?

People aren’t pissed at her for sharing her beliefs, people are pissed because she stupidly said Americans have to right to choose gay marriage or not. Prop 8 took that right away from Californians. We can’t chose gay marriage. We chose to disobey our Founding Fathers.

And conservatives call themselves Americans…

Jon   May 12th, 2009 - 9:02 pm

I for the life of me don’t understand why anyone cares if 2 dudes or 2 chicks marry. How does this effect YOUR life in any REAL way? It’s a contract get over it!! Most of you haters don’t even know a single gay person but you sure hate them. Little minds with little lives. Hitler would have loved you after all he was the ultimate right wing conservitive… Sheep all of you.

Good to see someone
“dare” stand up to the Thuggery on the Left. And who is the homeless-looking perez “hilton” to condemn the views of obama and Prejean?

Andy   May 12th, 2009 - 9:06 pm

Carrie responded to the ‘loaded’, ‘politically correct’ question that was thrown at her, with cameras flashing and the spotlight blazing, with great tact and respect. She did not condemn anyone with her words; she simply and respectfully stated her own beliefs. The condemnation and slander in this situation erupted from the ‘other’ side, who could not ‘tolerate’ the truth of her words (funny how they like to throw around the word ‘tolerance’ and have not a CLUE what it means, in practice). I might also mention: Homosexuality is NOT a civil rights issue, it’s a SIN issue. All the protesting, ‘hissy fits’, and veins popping-out-from- the-neck harangues are not going to change that very basic fundamental truth. The so-called ‘Gay’ agenda is trying to gain acceptance and endorsement for their ‘lifestyle’ by pushing a boulder that will never move… All these so-called ‘Gay Marriage’ state laws have been enacted thru fiat decrees by clueless liberal judges and legislators. NONE of these have come about by popular vote!

charles   May 12th, 2009 - 9:29 pm

She was punished because we Americans are living in an era of liberal/left wing oppression. Our free speech is being chipped away. The liberals should not be surprised when the backlash strikes back a few years down the road.

David Diaz (8:14pm):

Shut up, David.

The point here is that she answered a question, and got chewed out because certain people didn’t like her answer. That’s the issue, here: free speech, and flat-out liberal intolerance of it.

Answering a question is not ‘lecturing like a Pharisee.’ That’s B.S. exaggeration, on your part.

Besides, don’t liberals such as yourself LIKE immodesty and fornication?

Ela   May 12th, 2009 - 9:49 pm

Jon (9:02pm):

Here we go, again.

The point is, she has the right to say it — whether you like her opinion or not.

Your post was entirely off-topic — and YOU are more like Hitler that you accuse others of.

You would shut down any speech you don’t agree with — and THAT, my friend, is fascism.

Andy   May 12th, 2009 - 10:05 pm

To the censor (s) at Breitbart.TV… Just curious, what was it in my comment that I posted at 9:06 pm that you found so ‘offensive’ that it was not publicly posted? I used no vulgar or abusive language, as has been noted in many of the posts that you DID publish. You may not have AGREED with what I said, but, obviously, there was points of disagreement among many of the posts concerning Ms.Prejean’s comments, some stated quite crudely. Why did you censor mine?

Kenneth   May 12th, 2009 - 10:11 pm

Carrie brings up that her grandpa fought for freedom in WWII. My dad crawled around in the jungles for years doing the same. He mentioned to me that there were plenty of homosexuals back in WWII in the army fighting for freedom.

Kenneth   May 12th, 2009 - 10:12 pm

Carrie strongly believes that other believes that other people should not enter gay marriage. Some people strongly believe that other people should not get breast implants, but the best people don’t make judgements about others personal desires.

Eric   May 12th, 2009 - 10:18 pm

People: There is no First Amendment issue here. The First Amendment protects speech against government censorship. The government did not censor her speech or punish her speech. It is really silly of Ms. Prejean to claim that her free speech rights were infringed. I was totally with her until she went down this path.

What happened to her at the pageant was probably unfair. I didn’t watch, but I hear she was the frontrunner until her “opposite marriage” answer. By giving an honest answer, she was “punished” for not being politically correct. But her “punishment” came from a private organization: the Miss USA pageant (as well as from gay rights proponents who ridiculed her).

Perez Hilton is also now being “punished” — and rightly so — for his trollish statements on his blog, where he called Ms. Prejean terrible names.

But let’s get this right, people. Both Mr. Hilton and Ms. Prejean have the right to say what they want to say. They do not have the right to be free from criticism for their statements. And neither of them have had their free speech rights violated.

Okay, can we move on?

Note to Andrew, Brad etc.: When you post your anti-Semitic slurs using my name, be aware that your stupidity is transparent.

What the hell do you expect. You are working with an organization that is full of extremsit socialists that hate the regular people. The fags are running the dammed show, and what did you expect from the loony left and crazies that run those shows. There is no freedom of thought or speech in such an organization. if you don’t say and think like they do, you are considered to be a bad person. The homos are going insane if you do not agree with them.

@Eric- Well said. Conservatives are astoundingly ignorant of what the Constitution says and yet they try to call everyone else constitutional activists. This silly beauty queen wasn’t deprived of a single constitutional right. You don’t have the right to not be criticized for your views or statements no matter how earnestly you hold those beliefs. I personally think Perez Hilton is trash but the idiots who made him a judge (of anything) gave him the right to ask whatever he wanted.

Unfortunately, like Joe the Plumber, and Perez Hilton for that matter, the beauty queen’s 15 minutes is well over and she is going to have to be dragged from the stage with fake nails and even faker boobs scraping against the floor.

Carrie

Soon you’ll need the assistance of a gay talent agent or lesbian photographer, or gay fashion consultant, buyer, designer….and they won’t lift a finger….well maybe just ONE FINGER.

Boy in BOYCOTT   May 13th, 2009 - 12:22 am

be brave dear Carrie….knockers up!

now toddle off into the sunset with your glass tiara and cheap shoes.

Eric:

The problem is NOT that this woman was merely ‘critizised.’ The problem is that the negative reactors to her overwhelmingly DID want to silence her, strip her of her title, etc. simply because she said something (only AFTER being asked) that they personally didn’t like. They were, in fact (and still would, if they could), trying to publicly destroy her, for not being ‘p.c.’ Your post was quite well-written, but just go back and look at some earlier posts in this very thread (of those who are critical of her) and you will see a ZERO TOLERANCE of ANYONE who disagrees with homosexuality (case in point: that trendy, silly little term ‘homophobe!’ that was introduced into the public vocabulary only recently, and which is hurled at anyone who doesn’t think sodomy and/or pedophilia, etc. is normal).

Making it worse, the entire time the left wing pretends to be ‘tolerant’ and ‘diverse’ — when really they’re anything but, to ANY beliefs other than their own.

There is most certainly an effort to silence and shame ANYONE who doesn’t tow the narrow-minded liberal line — and those complicit in this effort need to be constantly reminded: people can, in fact, disagree with them…and they’re perfectly free to. If these people go unchallenged, the right to free speech will be in effect made worthless, because people will be too afraid to exercise it; plus, courts can chip away at it, too.

The right to free speech is vulnerable to inaction.

What kind of culture would not allow this post of mine, for instance?

Probably not one any of us would like to live in — because if they could silence me, they might try to silence you, too.

Boy in BOYCOTT   May 13th, 2009 - 12:41 am

btw… Carrie the gay who you detest, LAUNCHED your entire career of 15 minutes. If he’d asked you about global warming or women’s athletics no one would have EVER heard you, one of another of 6000 Miss Runner Ups.

It looks like Carrie Prejean, breached her contract with Miss USA. The Donald let her get away with it. That’s his perogative. That’s in his contract I imagine.

She wasn’t punished. She was held up to public scrutiny. She’s a wimp and an opportunistic nudist with fake tits. So who cares. I met a Miss USA once many years ago. She was drunk as hell with red wine spilled down the front of her tight white ski suit at Killington, VT. Hilarious.

Ken Weaver   May 13th, 2009 - 2:49 am

I think she should sue Perez Hilton for discrimination under the EEOC guidelines. She was interviewing for a job as a spokesperson. It was religious persecution pure and simple.

Wanna see what “gays” really are? Go Google “Hitler”, “homosexual” and “nazi” TOGETHER….and watch what turns up. It is real. Now you’ll know.

Trader   May 13th, 2009 - 5:03 am

Some posters clain this is not a 1st amendment issue when in fact it is. The pagent operates through all 50 states and has to adhere to eeoc guidelines just to name one. I am sure there are other governemnt entities with jurisdiction too -So the 1st amendment does apply.

In addition, Carrie is not challenging her 1st place loss she is in fact defending against the liberal backlash to her solicited opinion ie required to answer posed by a biased judge with an agenda. She should have won first place not on the content of a forced response but how gracefully she answered it.

Instead the liberal attack machine went into full swing post pageant slandering her etc etc.

I’d like to ask the gay community – will the definition of gay marriage include monogamy ?

Me thinks not,….

Joe   May 13th, 2009 - 6:17 am

She has every right to her opinions on civil rights law

And we have every right to call her a bigot and a homophobe for her position. I would not hire her for a promotional advertisement, just like I wouldn’t hire someone who favors making interracial marriage illegal.

Craig Eliot   May 13th, 2009 - 7:14 am

She is absolutely right. I disagree with her as much as I loathe the creep that voted against her for her opinion. This is not a fascist country, though seems Political Correctness is the road that will lead us there unless we are vigilant.

Oberon   May 13th, 2009 - 8:20 am

Anybody who takes these idiotic “beauty” pageants seriously has a problem to begin with. She’s as much a bimbo as that twit babbling on about US Americans and geography problems.

Off Duty   May 13th, 2009 - 7:22 pm

Hitler was a homosexual….as were many of his closest power elite. Google it…..and know.
