I work for a police department and I know how tough the job can be. Believe me
when I tell you that the officers I work with are really good people of all
races. It took courage for these two black officers to come forward and support
Sgt. Crowley and I applaud them. Now I will ask the other 94.99% of the Obama
voters not to rush to judgement of these two officers and start calling them
“Uncle Toms” Eric Holder wanted a race dialog to begin and called whites
“cowards”. Well here we are and his boss was the one to start the whole process
it seems. How about we REALLY start talking about this HONESTLY on both sides.
As we can see from this incident there is racism on all sides not just on the
white side of the equation. Whites start policing your own, when you see a
racist knucklehead call him/her on it. Blacks stop reacting and start thinking.
When you know that your actions are based on hatred towards other races stop and
think. The bottom line here is that two wrongs don’t make a right and this
country has plenty of opportunity for ALL of it’s citizens but it has to start
with YOU!
While I will acknowledge that the Law Enforcement members will normally stick together and that they are like any other group of people who will support their friends in their time of trouble, it appears from (at least my point of view) everything I have heard and read that this incident was caused entirely by Professor Gates and that the only reason he was arrested is because he is a bigoted, racist person.
Being as how he has advanced to his position at Harvard where he is teaching our young people, this is just more evidence that our American Educational System has gone wrong over the last forty some-odd years.
Every year our colleges and universities are turning out another crop of young people who have been subjected to liberal progressive teachings. How many of those after enduring this onslaught of liberal learning and attitude can still hold a open mind and not be forever changed…
Not as many as in the past, when American’s families were more of a guiding force throughout our children’s lives. That has undergone many changes for the worse in the last few decades.
So, if you look at how the American Government and the American vote has changed and the American Family has changed over those same years, it appears that many, way to many, will not be able to entertain or want to embrace conservative thought or actions again in their lives.
I think this applies even moreso to the minorities in this country. They have been raised in the mold of victims with their hands out and thinking that the white man is the enemy.
Now to have a race baiter in chief in the White House, it is apparent to all that racial problems and tensions will continue to escalate.
Personal responsibility is not being taught, has not been taught for many years to our children. It will be the downfall of all of us and our once great Republic.

I am sure any officer would have behaved they same way but Sgt. Crowley has an undeniable resume. It is as if he was sent by God just for this. But I am disappointed to learn that Sgt. Crowley will go to the White House. First, as a person of Irish descent, I am offended that obama felt comfortable in assuming all Irish people drink beer. Second, their plan back fired. Now, they want to take their intended victim into their camp to “talk it over?” They will try to manipulate him and this whole scenario in order to salvage what they can. Gate, Patrick, the mayor of Cambridge, and obama should visit Sgt. Crowley at his home, get on their knees before him and beg for HIS forgiveness!

Ms Murphy said that Crowley approached Whaley and told her to “Wait there”. there was no further conversation. How did a report of a detailed conversation end up in his report? Did he fabricate this conversation? Did the conversation occur with another officer? Were police notes combined?
Crowley’s police report is an official document and would be included at trial. Shouldn’t there be a clarification of this apparent discrepancy?
If Crowley’s report is in error, can we trust his version of the conversation at the door to and inside Gates’ house?

It took a lot of guts for Officer King to stand up and vouch for a White Male Police Officer against a popular Black Harvard Prof and the Black president of the US. Already the Black Mayor of Cambridge held a press conference shifting blame onto Officer Crowley and away from Gates and Obama. Race is not an “issue” and it is not a “problem” so it has no place in any debate. When Obama became president he did not become a “black” president, he became a “United States” president. What did the media do with it? For weeks all they could find to focus on was that Obama is black.

The only difference is that Obama is American first – and that means understanding that people of all races, both sexes, all sexual orientations, religious persuasions, political parties etc. are legitimately entitled to run for president in America. Anyone who doesn’t want that to be true and yet screams loudly that they are true Americans might do well to take a good look at the broad expression of humanity in all its diversity and imagine it marching by. I voted for Obama because he was the best candidate. The cop was wrong. And to prove it, had he known that Gates actually knew the president I GUARANTEE that once Gates produced his I.D. he would not have been arrested. The cop may not be guilty of racism, but in my opinion he may be guilty of abuse of power. Ask yourselves this: If you were locked out of your car (your keys were hanging in the ignition) and you used a coat hanger to open the lock and someone reported it to the police as you drove off, and you were pulled over, would you be arrested if you produced your drivers license, insurance and registration? What would you think of the cop who did that? Race or no race – the cop should look at and examine the prima facia valid and legal documentation demanded as evidence and intelligently arrive at the correct, matured reasoning conclusion that “all is in order” and move on. Anything else is an abuse of power and incredible display of stupidity. The embarrassment of worldwide public exposure of the cops inability to reason maturely after being given the facts for analysis is not anyone’s fault but his own. He brought this upon himself thinking nobody would ever notice or scrutinize his behavior. He refused to look at his actions after the fact and introspect upon his mistake and ask himself what he might do differently next time he finds himself in a similar situation – and grow from the experience. Instead he “won’t vote for Obama again”, blaming the president.

That is the way it should be. People should support you, no matter the color. How honorable and loyal of all of those that stood up for the Sgt and their force. It seems clear so far that this was not a racial issue, but I still haven’t heard a good explanation of EXACTLY WHY GATES WAS ARRESTED. He mouthed off at a cop? So what? That is not an arrestable offense and does not meet the legal definition of disturbing the peace. It’s extremely troubling that a man could be arrested simply for accusing the police of racism (even if it did hurt the poor cops’ feelings) and that so many people could be OK with that.

The reason the cop didn’t just leave after the racist Professor gave him his Sam’s Club card is he was not sure if even if Gates was the resident – perhaps there were still real intruders in the house. Gates’ house had previously been broken into before he went to China – and he still didn’t get the door fixed after the first attempt.

One thing out of this ordeal that sounded strange was hearing that the President was inviting Gates and Crowley over to the White House for Beers. It just sounded weird to me. I have never heard of a couple of black guys just sitting around, shooting the s**t and discussing anything over a couple of beers. I’m sure they probably drink beer, but if you think about it for a minute…..I’ve never heard it in a TV commercial, on TV period, in a movie, any black show, or from any black guys at all. Did it occur to you that the woman continued to observe the house while waiting for the police to arrive and that she might have had a chance to get a better look at them? That is important information for an officer approaching the scene. If he walked in and found 1 black man and 1 white man he would be immediately aware that there was a person unaccounted for that could either be a victim or a threat. Common sense is scarce amongst your kind but I explained it all the same. The woman just doesn’t appreciate being called a racist for reporting two men forcing a door open on a home.
This truly is sad and damages race relations further. I believe whites will soon grow tired of this sort of behavior and we will see a trend toward open and genuine racism again. It’s as if they are trying to undo all that has been accomplished over the years. Nobody wants to be falsely accused of bigotry every time they approach a minority for what ever reason. I think it is important that we shine just as bright a spotlight on poor behavior from minorities as we do on that of whites. If we are all equal, let’s behave as if that were the case and stop implementing policies an judging others in ways that imply the inferiority(or superiority complex) of certain ethnic groups.
