This tax is nothing compared to the Alternative Minimum Tax that might not be fixed again this year. From what I understand Congress has been extending the non-payment of this tax on a year by year basis. With the losers running the show right now I’m not holding out hope for them fixing it this year – they are desperate for our money. I believe they will just let it expire.
If you are single and make $47K or more or married & make $75K or more you will have to pay that this year (taxes due 4/15/10 – for 2009) for the first time in a very long time. It will be a SIGNIFICANT tax INCREASE on the middle & upper class. The bozos in Washington have yet to discuss it for 2009 tax year. You might end up owing thousands more on your 2009 return than your 2008 return – even if everything is 100% the same. It so complicated I honestly don’t understand it but my accountant said that we will owe $4000-$5000 more this year if they don’t extend it.
You need to call your Senator & Representative and demand that the AMT be extended and preferably made permanent.

I would like to point out that Barry’s behavior is typical of a politician who sees the reality of his political life compared to the perception of their political life. Barry was always seen as this intellectual giant whose decisions would ‘change’ America for the better; he was seen as having no flaws, the purveyor of some great hope. Now that we know who he really is he has to lie at every turn to try and protect his perceived image. His lies will become bigger soon as his presidency becomes more and more unravelled. What America will end up with is not going to be pretty. Of course, the irony will be that Barry’s defenders and apologists will then accuse his critics of being racist, but that won’t work because by then Americans won’t be listening to the political babble coming from Acorn’s community organizer who managed to win the presidency.
If the people of the U.S. had not been so mesmerized by the idea of a “black” president, or taken by his great speaking abilities, his “false” promises, all the glitz and shine — we would not be where we are now. If Americans would take their duty as a citizen “seriously” and do the hard work – by really checking a person’s character, record, background, etc. before voting a person into office – then a whole lot of “career” politicians wouldn’t be ‘nested’ in D.C. This time, the country voted into office the “perfect” storm — a majority of like-minded individuals, bent on the destruction of America as we have know it; based on a Marxist mentality and operated as a Facist government. I don’t think this alignment has ever been so perfect. Hitler would be amazed; Lenin would be proud; Americans should be very afraid.
Will Americans remember all the “deceit” when it comes to voting? Will they be “bought” again by false promises? Will American citizens vote out ALL Democrats, Republicans AND Independents who have spinelessly supported the likes of Pelosi, Reid, Frank, and Obama – even if they lie and try to promise you the moon? Hussein Obama frightens me but I’m almost more frightened that Americans will cave and won’t stand ‘together’ against this tyranny! And let’s hold high the principles and values that were so eloquently spelled out for us in the Bill of Rights and The Constitution! Do NOT forfeit a vote thinking that a non-vote will do! No, find people in your community who have character, integrity, and espouse LESS government and a true return to the Constitution! Help them into office. And pursue the legislation for term limits; limiting the chance for more career politicians. Direct government to be, once again, “by the people” and “for the people.”
If you don’t, our country ceases to be the land of the free; we lose everything we’ve worked so hard for; and we become just another third world banana republic. It’s a lot to lose and time is running out. . .
