Total agreement. You explained it very well. Thank you.

Sage   January 5th, 2010 - 3:08 am

Good for you Hume you’re doing what is right, Tiger will make up his own mind.

Marcos   January 5th, 2010 - 3:13 am

I have been praying for the God of the Bible to exalt Himself in America. This is indeed one example in which He has. Thank you, Brit, for speaking the truth in love!

See you   January 5th, 2010 - 4:26 am

The religious figure I can’t stand is that one that inspires all that despair. You know the one from the Middle East. What’s his name?

Oh yeah. Obama.

iconoclastKM   January 5th, 2010 - 4:50 am

And THAT ladies and gentlemen, is what one would call “MAN-ing up”

It’s plain… and simple.

Well put Brit!

Oh and uh…

God Bless.

REALLY??   January 5th, 2010 - 6:07 am

Thank you Brit Hume!! Excellent explanation of the comments you made. Jesus Christ will offer the true redemption
TW needs. It will bring him joy and peace that is unspeakable.

God is Dead   January 5th, 2010 - 6:10 am

Keep believing fairy tales. Keep the human race from evolving. Adults with Boogey men……..really, truly, deeply sad

Foxnews sux   January 5th, 2010 - 6:27 am

Join christianity and get the blessing. Just like Mark Sanford. Where do I sign up so I can do all the fun crap I want to do and just ask for forgiveness later?

Jim   January 5th, 2010 - 6:42 am

Forgiveness if God’s grace through Jesus Christ,it is what grace is all about.
We do not deserve it but God offers it, It is not about sinning and then getting away with it.

KPNunn   January 5th, 2010 - 6:55 am

No (to GOD is —-)…You are the truly, deeply sad one here. As a Christian, I pray for you. I spent 22 years of my life on the wrong side…alcohol, lies, deception…but Christ got me through it and I am 100 times happier, healthier, etc. In other words, I’ve tried BOTH sides…Can you say the same? If so, I hope you come back to Christ…if not…perhaps you shouldn’t insult something…AT LEAST until you’ve tried it.

steve in Pa.   January 5th, 2010 - 7:19 am

I would say f-off and mind your own business. Tiger should do the same thing.

Seajay   January 5th, 2010 - 7:26 am

I think Tiger Woods is better off keeping the religion he has. At least he still likes women instead of going after other guys like that Christian queer preacher Ted Haggard. Of course, there are plenty of Christian adulterers too so maybe he would be among his own kind with the other Christian scum.

NC to Ohio   January 5th, 2010 - 7:39 am

Excellent job, Brit! You told the truth about Jesus Christ exactly right. Thank you for doing something that is sadly quite rare in America today.

subjectoftheussa   January 5th, 2010 - 7:50 am

Obummer needs a Tiger Summit at the white house, can even invite Brit. They can all pair off in teams, decide which religion Tiger should go with, how best he should ask for forgiveness, and when they are done Obummer will listen to all the ideas and tell Tiger what he should do.

Lankester   January 5th, 2010 - 7:51 am

Jesus Christ is the only way to Heaven. Hume was right.

Terry   January 5th, 2010 - 8:11 am

It is hilarious how many “Christians” openly admit they believe because they “get” something out of it. They don’t seem to “get” religion.

Terry   January 5th, 2010 - 8:18 am

If his mother was a Christian she wouldn’t have laid down with someone outside her race.

Danny   January 5th, 2010 - 8:23 am

God Bless You Mr. Hume!!! Lift up the wondeful name of Jesus and He will draw all men unto Him. I know your message was for Tiger and I pray he heard it, but it was also for all who are listening and hurting. Jesus died for ALL of us and He is no respecter of persons. Their is forgiveness and healing in the precious blood of Jesus and He alone offers redemption for any who will come.

"Nietzsche is Dead" -- God   January 5th, 2010 - 8:40 am

The only thing Tiger did wrong according to the Bible was not marrying them all. Funny how in this society you don’t need a fornication license but you need a marriage license, according to the government one could live with a hundred women or fool around with countless partners and spread STD’s, but if you want to actually make them respectable, give them a legally binding contract, provide for them etc. that’s a no-no. Why is that again? I think there is a “Separation of Church and State” issue here that someone should look into because “monogamy” is a “Christian” doctrine (even though a false one).

MB   January 5th, 2010 - 8:41 am

Sure Christianity offers tons of opportunities… to get a$$-raped by a Priest or pocket-raped by a charlaton pastor. Secondly tell Mr. Hume to shut his F’n mouth. Who the hell cares what religion Tiger Woods is? THis has nothing to do with morals or God or any such thing. This is about a spoiled athlete who has spent his entire life being given every single thing that life has to offer and like the spoiled child that he is wanted more than he should have been given. By the way, do I really need to cite all the multitudes of “Good Christian Soldiers” that have cheated on their spouses not to mention the astronomical number of them that are in leadership of a chuch? Grow the F up Hume and just do what you do best and read the prompter. Give me a F’n break. Keep your stupid a$$ opinions to yourself.

Those who have commented here against Christianity, GET A LIFE! I’ve been a Christian since I was 14 and have loved every minute of it. Attended the University of Texas, met my gorgeous wife there, and we certainly aren’t part of the greasy Liberal crack smoking community of Libtards.

"Nietzsche is Dead" -- God   January 5th, 2010 - 8:47 am

btw… yes Brit is right, Tiger should (as every human being) convert to Christianity… it is their duty and obligation as well as a privilege to serve the Emperor of the Universe (no not Obama).

MolecularConserative   January 5th, 2010 - 8:50 am

I am not a “promoter” for Christianity.

But, I believe that when asked directly about what I believe and why I believe it, I am called to plant my feet, look you directly in the eye, and tell you why I follow Jesus.

This is exactly what Brit Hume just did. I’ve always liked this guy and now, along with that distant affection, is a great big dose of old fashion RESPECT!

I’m so tired of being lied to. We no longer live in a world God has made but now wallow in a world of our own making and sometimes I get very sick of it. Moments like this restore my hope and all of my hope is uniquely placed on a single source: Jesus, Jesus, Jesus.

In the 22nd chapter of Matthew, Jesus describes how any effort, how ever ungodly, can have his name affixed. Pray for discernment because, as we move forward, one of the primary weapons our enemy will use against us is the very name of “Jesus”. Remember the “wolves in sheeps clothing”.

Satan, above all else, is a liar. Guard your hearts. Guard your minds. Draw strength from the Body and repent your sins. Repent your failings and then rise up the next morning and start all over again. We do not seek to lift up ourselves but seek glory only for the perfecter of our faith; Christ Jesus!

Be strong and love one another! Boldly teach your children!

Happy New Year to all!

Huh?   January 5th, 2010 - 8:50 am

Just what this country needs. A self-righteous yahoo dispensing spiritual advice (and implied approval/disapproval) from the so called “news desk”.

“Topping our news, the horrible murder in Pennsylvania … but while police search for the suspect, I’d like to counsel him to turn to Christ Jesus, because that’s the only way he’ll find forgiveness and redemption. Otherwise, it’s a trial, the death penalty, and ggkkkkkkkkkkk!”

“The Dow Jones closed at over 50,000 today, and it’s clearly not because of any President’s economic policies, but the beneficence of Jesus Christ, who offers us all a path to salvation.”

“We’ll be back after this, and a moment of prayer.”

Christ, you right wing religious freaks are nuts!

"Nietzsche is Dead" -- God   January 5th, 2010 - 8:55 am

see MB is a perfect example of the harm the false doctrine of “monogamy” has done to the Church… The Bible only restricts elders (they aren’t called “priests”) from having more than one wife. The Catholic church added it’s own false doctrine by forbidding their clergy to marry at all, and look what happens there. Protestants (who supposedly “reformed”) didn’t reform enough, and still forbids laymen from marry who they want (also unbiblical man-made doctrine). As a result non-believers, whenever they want to discredit the faith, simply point to pastors who have broken their monogamy vow (which they should have never taken in the first place), and God’s name is blasphemed all day because of the Church. But MB and the rest of you, you are not off the hook. It is a logical fallacy to state something is untrue because of the person who tells you it is not up to your character standards (which btw is just “borrow capital” from a false doctrine in the Church). Funny that these mockers are more “puritan” than ever the Bible. “Hypocrites,” is what the Lord would call you. Without “God” you have no universal, objective basis for any morals MB so who are you to borrow a false Christian doctrine as a basis for judging others?

DT   January 5th, 2010 - 9:12 am

It doesn’t get any better than this. Thank God for the Brit Humes of the world.

Faith   January 5th, 2010 - 9:18 am

Having a relationship with Jesus Christ is not religion. Religion is based on a set of beliefs that one has to “work” for. Christ died for our sins- we can do nothing to earn or work for salvation. Many religions from Islam to Buddhism require one to work for their paradise in heaven or enlightenment/nirvahna. All that is required for man is to believe and repent- Christ does the rest of the work on our souls. Do Christians fall?- Yes, because we are human. True Christians also know that they are sinful and not perfect, even after they become believers. It is only Christs work that makes us better if we trust in Him and leave it to Him.

Heal thyself, Hume!   January 5th, 2010 - 9:27 am

Actually Hume is only partially correct. If Tiger were a Christian all he would have to do is go to church, slobber a few “forgive me’s”, and then go out and do it again. The typical right wing Christian beats his wife, kicks his dog, screams at his kids, is drunk whenever possible, and thinks that if he kisses a few rattlesnakes on Sunday that all is forgiven. What a great religion! And you guys have the nerve to criticize other religions. I guess we should add hypocrisy to your virtues as well.

“The typical right wing Christian beats his wife, kicks his dog, screams at his kids, is drunk whenever possible, and thinks that if he kisses a few rattlesnakes on Sunday that all is forgiven.”

Time to come out of the basement, put away the tinfoil hat and see the world. Have you ever been outside of your own hometown? The typical non-believer smokes crack, kills people, votes for a guy who appoints fisting czars, and worships Gia (see, we can do this too). By what basis do you state that beating your wife is wrong? You have no objective, unchanging, moral law except maybe survival of the fittest. You sir, are the hypocrite. and btw, the “heal thyself” quote was in the mouths of the mockers while Christ hung on the cross (nice company you got there), and according to Christianity (since you are hypocritically borrowing our moral code) three days later Christ not only healed himself, but rose from the dead where he is currently sitting at the right hand of God sovereignly judging the world.

Get your own morals and stop scamming off the Church or pretending your morals are anything other than personal taste (like ice cream flavors).

Heal thyself, believer!   January 5th, 2010 - 10:19 am

“Three days later Christ not only healed himself, but rose from the dead where he is currently sitting at the right hand of God sovereignly judging the world”. Sez who? Have you got any proof of that, Believer?

I thought so.

What makes you think that your religion is better than any other one in this matter?

O'Really?   January 5th, 2010 - 10:24 am

This is too wonderful for words! Bill O’Reilly, the guy who was sued for using the telephone to harass a female co-worker with lewd comments is sanctimoniously talking about religion modifying behavior with Hume, who conveniently ignores that fact. Is this ironic, or what? I love it!!! Hahahahaha! Thanks for the laugh!

Heal thyself, unbeliever!   January 5th, 2010 - 10:39 am

“Sez who?”

God

“Have you got any proof of that, Believer?”

Yes, God said it.

“What makes you think that your religion is better than any other one in this matter?”

Because it’s true according to God.

Any more questions? I would say that your indignation is humorous in light of the fact that you probably believe in relative truth (a violation of the law of non-contradiction). Moreover, you have no reason to be indignant about the topic, since your anger (exemplified in your mocking) would imply an injustice, thus implying a moral standard higher than yourself to which you believe we all “ought” to submit. However, in your world-view it’s like passionately arguing and getting worked up with complete strangers over which pizza toping is the “best.” You’re free to do it, of course, it just looks silly.

O'Really   January 5th, 2010 - 10:52 am

Somehow even after 2,000 years of Christianity non-believers still seem to think the message of Christianity is “I’m good, so be good too.” Never was the message, never will be. It is “I’m NOT good, neither are you, we’re in trouble with God, but in his grace he will rescue us.” It is one beggar telling another beggar where to find food. Sorry if it doesn’t always come off that way, but I think sometimes non-believers only hear what they want to here in order to puff themselves up, harden their hearts, and balm their afflicted conscience. Hume never said he was “better” than Tiger, only that Christianity is the only hope of improving your behavior (not making you perfect) and more importantly finding forgiveness with God. You don’t know that Hume would have been an ax murderer if it weren’t for his faith (no one does), so you can’t look at his other sins and try to discredit what he says about how Christianity can make a difference in someone’s life.

This is what this country supposedly stands for or did. Freedom of religion, speech etc… Wonderful blast from the past before the forces of darkness (better known as political correctness) started to erode and encroach upon the very freedoms Americans have given their lives for since our founding. This isn’t about political correctness. It is about a failure to meet any notion of journalistic standards. We don’t know what religion Tiger is. Brit just cited an unconfirmed rumor and then pretended it was true. It is inappropriate for a journalist to inject personal religious views into a “news” program and then to do it with regard to a sports figure. Fox’s slogan is “We Report You Decide”, well looks like that is just another exercise in right-wing hypocrisy, Brit “Decided” and then “reported” an unconfirmed rumor.

What a joke!!!

God said it? I’m sorry, where and when was that again? Oh…you must mean the Bible, that book written and edited by humans so that they could exert control over the masses of the ignorant and keep the bucks rolling in–THAT book. See if you can point to something more tangible.

Nope? I thought so.

MolecularConserative   January 5th, 2010 - 11:45 am

Hey, “whatwhat”:

You must have missed it: Brit Hume has stepped down as a news anchor. He now is a political/social commentator and has the liberty to defend his faith in the same way that Bill Maher, Penn Jillette and several cats posting here have the liberty to denigrate Jesus. It’s nothing new to the Lord-he’s been through this before and his response will always be the same: he continues to love Bill Maher, Penn Jillette and all the poster’s here.

I mean, you aren’t opposed to the 1st amendment, are you?

Now, the part that is often forgotten and one I admittedly take wrongfully placed pleasure in (because I am not Jesus and yet perfected the ability to love unconditionally)is that Jesus will return. And when he does, he returns with a sword!

This cat I know named John said it best when he said:

“You vipers brood! Who warned you to escape from the coming retribution?

Then prove your repentance by the fruit it bears and do not presume to say to yourselves, “We have Abraham for our Father!”

I tell you that God could make children of Abraham out of these stones here!

Already the axe is laid to the root of the tree and every tree that fails to bear good fruit shall be cut down and thrown upon the fire!

I baptize you with water; for repentance. But he who comes is mightier than I. I am not worthy to loosen the thongs of his sandals.

HE WILL BAPTIZE YOU WITH THE HOLY SPIRIT. AND WITH FIRE!”

Jay   January 5th, 2010 - 11:53 am

ok, a somewhat prominent tv journalist states on air that an individual should drop his present religion and take on another as a means of solving his problems. What would all these people praising Hume say if another prominent journalist stated that tan individual should take up Hinduism, Islam etc. I can hear the outrage at how inappropriate it was for a journalist to inject his own personal religious views to the story. This is based on the assumption that Hume is still primarily a reporter in contrasst to a columnist whose job it is to present opinions.

“Oh…you must mean the Bible, that book written and edited by humans so that they could exert control over the masses of the ignorant and keep the bucks rolling in–THAT book. See if you can point to something more tangible.”

Your view of the Bible and Christian history is stereotypical and downright comical (merely just a puerile and unsubstantiated statement not worth arguing over – you should do a little more research), but whatever helps you sleep at night. Also, why do you think exerting control over the masses is immoral? Give me something “more tangible” than just your opinion. Some might say it’s a “good” thing, who are you to judge? By what basis do you declare deception immoral? Islam actually permits it in some cases. Again, stop borrowing Christian morals to argue your point, get your own.

btw: saying “I thought so” in every post doesn’t mean you won an argument, it just makes you look immature, like you can’t have a discussion without getting your feelings hurt.

Healed,
You still haven’t offered up anything tangible, have you? Why is that? Since you know so much about Biblical and Christian history perhaps you should review it and discover that a lot of your texts were heavily edited by individuals who had ulterior motives. They were also translated several times from various languages including Middle Egyptian, Aramaic, Greek, Hebrew, Coptic, Latin, and others. Translating texts from one language to another, particularly when one is dealing with ancient texts, is extremely difficult and the natural tendency is to say, “What the heck…this is close enough”. Future generations of Christians then spent hours analyzing individual words as to their “meaning” when in reality it was most likely the best guess of the person doing the translating.

Somehow you seem to think that Christians have exclusive rights to morals. Is everyone else immoral?

Astonished   January 5th, 2010 - 1:49 pm

So, we are teaching people to select a religion based on what it has to offer you? And not to choose a religion based on what’s true? Are you saying that homosexuals who are raised in Christianity are fully justified in leaving Christianity because Jesus offers no acceptance for them? Or how about polygamists? Drinkers of wine, gamblers, public speakers who are women, people who want to have sex without getting married, all of these things are condemned by the christian Bible, and you are giving full rights to anyone who wants to do any of these things to leave Christianity and find something else that has a better offer.

Already Healed   January 5th, 2010 - 2:43 pm

Already Healed,

1) You’re just spouting the same tired discredited liberal textual criticism that has been answered time and time again more than adequately by the Church. I’m not going to write a thesis here for you – do your own research. You (and the non-believing scholars whom you are relying on) are approaching textual criticism with an anti-supernatural presupposition, therefore you would not accept a supernatural explanation for anything (even when it is the most reasonable). But it’s amazing how you know the actual MOTIVES of people in ancient history! Wow! You’re good. I wish I had you as a history prof. back in the day. You should work for the History channel, imagine the money you could make.

2) I assume by “tangible” you want me to produce a picture of God, or put him in a box to look at and touch? I’ll tell ya what… You give me a picture or a box of gravity (or the wind, your choice), and I’ll see what I can do. Too bad for your wife (if you’re married) things like “love” don’t exist either. And too bad for all of us here that “laws of logic” don’t exist for you either (if i had a box of them, i’d send it to you). You have no soul, sir (oh wait a minute, it might be in a box in the attic- maybe go check).

3) As far as morals (and you giving me something “tangible” for them – since they are also invisible), can you give me a list of some things that are immoral and your basis for saying so? Do you derive them from nature? Which part? The part where the Orca tosses around a helpless seal before devouring it? Is it majority vote of humanity? Well, the majority thinks you should believe in a God. Or is it your personal opinion? Which gets back to my original statement about ice cream and pizza. So why don’t you just tell us what ice cream is best already and leave it at that. Truly you folks believe something can come from nothing (like matter and life), cause you’ve made such a big deal out of one innocent statement from one guy on t.v. …Amazing!

Oh, morally superior one. Does the “majority who believes in God” include Muslims? Or are the Muzzies just another gutter religion?

There is nothing discredited about the criticisms of tbe Biblical texts and how they were translated. YOU saying that this argument has no merit is not valid. The fact is that whole gospels were tossed because the authorities in charge didn’t want any competition. That is a fact. Gospels such as the Gospel of Thomas were deleted for political reasons (Constantine was tired of the bickering). The final product that you embrace is due to centuries of evolution (there is that word again) and attempts to ignore this shows your myopia. Who are you to say that Muslims, Jews, Hindus, or any other religious philosophy is not correct or that yours is? It may surprise you, but one does not have to be a Christian to behave in a moral way. Not everything moral has a religious connection.

Already Healed   January 5th, 2010 - 4:14 pm

Keep healing,

1) Sure they’ve been discredited, by Christian scholars – you need to brush up on your research, my friend. Here’s how it works, basically liberal scholars come up with outlandish theories to explain away the Bible (three Isaiah’s, redaction, etc.) because they already rule out a supernatural explanation for (for example) fulfilled prophecies. It’s just simple subjective bias and cramming the data into that naturalistic template (even when it doesn’t fit very well). It’s all just a hit and miss game with those guys because there CAN’T be a supernatural explanation, even if that is the best one. Moreover, the “Gospel of Thomas” was a known pseudograph (i.e. forgery ) and did not receive wide spread acceptance in the early Church (only the Gnostics accepted it because they produced it), and you’re right about Constantine – he should have stayed out of it. The final product is the same as the original for the most part (a few minor, insignificant scribal errors like a scribble above a letter instead of a dot) and we know this from early manuscripts such as the Dead Sea Scrolls. This game of “my scholar is bigger than yours” is getting old now, so you can believe what you want (either way it is by FAITH in someone else’s testimony – sound familiar).

2) “Who are you to say that Muslims, Jews, Hindus, or any other religious philosophy is not correct or that yours is? It may surprise you, but one does not have to be a Christian to behave in a moral way. Not everything moral has a religious connection.”

I didn’t say it, God did, take it up with him. Also, it doesn’t surprise me at all that non-Christians behave morally (for the Bible tells us they often do), however, they really have no logical reason to apart from a religious connection since apart from divine revelation morals are merely arbitrary social conventions based on the whim of opinion and survival. Fortunately, God’s people throughout the ages have influenced society enough that the morality reflected on planet earth is similar to their own. For example, you think cannibalism is wrong, but “nature” didn’t teach you that (fish eat other fish) – your upbringing in a theistic-minded civilization taught you that. Other world religions have been borrowing God’s ethics since the beginning of humanity, and its a good thing. Keep it up, it makes the world a little nicer of a place. Just don’t think you formed your ethics in a vacuum, that would be naive, and historically inaccurate.

Well then, I’ve repeatedly answered your questions, and you keep avoiding mine. Should I end with a “that’s what I thought!”? ’cause this is really starting to get old.

The Christian faith is going to stop Tiger Woods from cheating on his wife?

Sure. Just like it did for David Vitter, and Mark Sanford, and John Ensign, and Larry Craig…

Brit Hume, why don’t you just go on over to the 700 Club, and complete your transformation from respected journalist to extremist pundit?

Bill McDonald, CPA   January 5th, 2010 - 9:00 pm

WAY TO GO “FOX NEWS” – ALL OF US “SO” APPRECIATE YOU ALLOWING BRITT HUME TO TELL THE TRUTH…& THE TRUTH IS THAT JESUS CHRIST IS THE SON OF GOD COME TO EARTH TO SAVE US FROM OUR SINS. U GUYS LET BRITT TELL THAT STORY. PRAYING THE “TRUTH” FOR TIGER AND US ALL…..THANK YOU!!!

For all of you who say there is no God…Do you ever wonder why the trend in science these days is for scientists to constantly be moving AWAY from the theory of evolution. It is because the more and more they discover with technology and their findings the more and more of them are realizing evolution does not make sense which is proven by their studies. Also, if there is no God where do we get our moral code from? Where does that standard come from? Yes, Christians fail and sin but through Jesus they are constantly being refined. We are ALL sinners and fall short of perfection. Just because people accept Jesus it doesn’t mean they are perfect humans all of the sudden. It does mean however that they are given new hearts. It’s not what you can do for Christ, it’s what He has ALREADY done for us (the cross).

Thank you Brit for the encouraging, forgiving and wonderful message for Tiger and all of us.

sdunc   January 7th, 2010 - 10:39 am

If you don’t agree with Brit that’s fine, don’t; but he IS speaking the truth in a kind way. Hume is absolutely correct that only Jesus Christ provides the way of redemption and forgiveness, not to mention a guaranteed eternity with Him. Woods has for all purposes destroyed what he’s been given in life WITHOUT having Jesus as his Savior, so I suggest he heed Brit’s advice.

dennis   January 7th, 2010 - 10:41 am

Brit – Bless you for standing up in a sea of scum. God Bless.

sdunc   January 7th, 2010 - 10:50 am

GOOD ON YA, BRIT!! TOO BAD ALL MEN AREN’T THE STOUT, GUTSY BELIEVER YOU ARE! KEEP CALLING IT AS YOU SEE IT… :)

Kathy   January 7th, 2010 - 11:20 am

Thank you Brit Hume….for being bold…offering no excuses….but the truth in love.

Vicky   January 7th, 2010 - 11:23 am

Brit,
It is awesome that you offered to Tiger the ulitmate answer to his delimma. Jesus is the Way the Truth and the Life. The Lord at a prayer meeting a couple of weeks ago put Tiger Woods on my heart and it was has if I felt the pain and loss that Tiger was going through. In all of that the love that Jesus Christ as for Tiger Woods and for those who need redemption. Jesus is our redemption. That was paid for at the cross. Jesus restored my life from the sexual sin I was living in years ago. He is our Saviour. His loves knows no end to those who seek His face. They will find a new life in Christ. The old is removed and He makes all things new. This is what Tiger Woods needs. There is transformation power in Christ Jesus. I have experienced that and so have countless others.

Shelba Holmes   January 7th, 2010 - 11:34 am

Why is it that when a Christian man speaks out about the Christian faith people immediately start trying to find a Christian who has violated the teachings of their faith? Why is it that these people are so threatened by Christians or the teachings of the Christian faith.

I am a Christian and proud of it. I know of no Christian teaching that does not acknowledge that even the most devote of Christians is not subject to the fallicies of the human condition. Christianity does, however, allow for redemption.

If you do not choose Christianity that is your priviledge but why do you have to be so vicious towards those who do and why do you have to find so much pleasure in the failings of Christians. Exactly what do you prove with your attacks except that you are woefully ignorant.

My view is that those who attack so fiercely should be examining their own hearts and minds rather than trying to find a aha moment in the life of another.

Bret Hume has raised himself in my eyes enormously by speaking out for his faith. More men of faith need to be doing this.

faithe   January 7th, 2010 - 11:49 am

way to go Brit! we need more people like you to speak out on matters like these

Sarah   January 7th, 2010 - 1:03 pm

Thanks, Brit for sharing your faith on public TV! In Jesus Christ, we are holding THE ANSWER to what people are looking for in life. Not to mention eternal life of joy & happiness. Why are so many afraid to tell others of this awesome thing??

who is Jesus (by Vallu)   January 7th, 2010 - 1:12 pm

to those whom the name of Jesus Christ sucks,
you need to know this truth that “you don’t know Him”
first find him in your daily life, than talk.
we in christian faith tolarate craps of you who dose not know Christ just because He “Jesus Christ” wants you to get forgiveness and escape your eternity in Hell.
“Jesus Christ is the Son of God” “He was sent for us” “He was born for us” “He died for us” “He rose for us” and “He will come for us”

Billy Lee   January 7th, 2010 - 1:19 pm

Thank you Mr. Hume for being a person who isn’t affraid to tell the truth. When Jesus said He was the Way the Truth and the Life He wasn’t being a limp wristed person with no conviction. May God honor you and show you His Favor as you continue on. God Bless and Keep you.

Elta   January 7th, 2010 - 2:49 pm

Brit….grateful for your extending forgiveness and a hope towards a new beginning for Tiger’s life. That’s just what the world seems to need right now. We are a hurting bunch of humans.

Wow, within all our secret hearts we have made false moves, blunder, mistakes, bloopers, errors,if you will. It’s awesome that you reached out with hope. When Christian faith is ever mentioned why is it received with condemnation? It doesn’t mean Christians are a perfect piece of work. Perhaps it means they have been offered a way, a truth, and a new life to walk through this world with an inner convection of forgiveness and what love, and hope offers because God, through his gift of love, sent Jesus Christ to offer a forgiveness.
This mercy of God … that’s worth discovering. Forgive us for our views of perfection- ouch!
Have we not all been touch with deluded,mislead,taken-in,suckered,and hoodwinked by the world’s false whispers of humans needs and comforts…body, mind, and spirit.
Tiger Wood,in a sense, had become an”Idol”. The world danced with delight and much greed while Tiger “appeared” totally complete in all his excellence, dignity and grace. How many trailed him through his “World’s Best Pro Golfer of Our Time” journey have not felt the inner check for shifty moments in seasons of life? There really is a true and living God…his name is “I AM that I AM” … God so loved the world he sent HIS only begotten Son… his name is Jesus. The Spirit of the Sovereign God has anointed YOU to share, Brit. Thank you…

amazed18   January 7th, 2010 - 4:43 pm

Brit, I admire a man who doesn’t back down from saying something truthful but tough,
yet speaks it with love. You weren’t putting anyone down, or putting yourself on a pedestal,
when you talked about needing forgiveness; I have a hunch you would admit that you stand
permanently in that line, as do I.

I think what you also meant is the wonderful position of knowing you have transgressed the standards
of a holy God, and yet have found forgiveness through His Son, Jesus Christ, and that you want every one to have that experience. Actually it’s the highest wish a person could have for another person.

Now that I know what your inner values are, I will pay a WHOLE lot more attention to
Fox News when I see you reporting. As a matter of fact, I will go LOOKING for your
appearance, because I see that you are a man who wants to tell the TRUTH. And makes no
apologies. I’ll even pay attention to who sponsors your programs, lol!!!!!! SEE ya!!!!! :)

Proud2badaughterofChrist   January 7th, 2010 - 6:12 pm

We all need restoration and forgiveness in our failings. Whether we believe in Christ or not, it doesn’t disanul the fact that He came to die for our sins. We all sin, believers in Christ Jesus as well as those who are not believers. But so often we want to muddle in the sin of life believing that “it’s good,” never realizing that there is a better way to live. And yes, faith is believing in what we cannot see. We do it on a daily basis. We believe we are going to get a paycheck in 2 weeks, but yet when someone mentions the God of the Bible, rage surfaces. Amazing. Yes, TW is at the lowest point in his life. Where else does he turn? Back to the same environment that produced that caused it? No, we all must turn to something greater than ourselves otherwise we can never fully see beyond ourselves. We will always agree with our failings, frailties and sin nature. That’s who we are naturally. This is where the mirror is placed before him, as the mirror should be placed before all of us. We need forgiveness and restoration and God through Jesus Christ is able to heal him from his guilt, sin, and lack of love for himself. To the naysayers, what do you have to offer him? I say to you, if you do not believe and you are sure that there is no God, solidify your opinion by trying this: ask God through Jesus Christ to im reveal Himself to you and see what happens.

KRod   January 7th, 2010 - 9:52 pm

Thanks for being “Light”. When you are only accustomed to darkness, the “Light” bothers you until you
adjust. Keep Shining Mr. Hume.

Charlie   January 7th, 2010 - 9:57 pm

We are truly in a cultural war in America. These comments are typical on just about every opinion blog on the web.

We have the “left wing” and the “right wing”, “conservative” and “liberal”, “Christian” and “non-Christian” (not to leave out the other religions, but these are the most vocal.)

Most atheists and un-believers have almost no personal knowledge of the Bible, or the real meaning of Christianity. Their concepts are based on misbeliefs that they have heard from others like them. As one scholar said, “Atheists today are an inch deep and a mile wide”, meaning they have an intense arrogance and anger toward Christianity, but very little real understanding of it.

If you want to know whether or not you should believe in Christ, there is only one way to find out: to investigate it for yourself with an open mind, and an open heart. That’s what I did, and after checking out nearly every other belief system under the sun, I came to the realization that they all totally contradict each other, and cannot possibly be “different paths to the same God” (or goal, if you prefer). I really wanted to know the truth: am I just a cosmic accident, a result of random processes with no meaning or purpose, or is there something more to life? And just as importantly, is it possible to know for sure?

The answer is “Yes”. But you cannot be profane and uncaring, or full of foolish pride and self-will, if you want to know the truth. You have to humble yourself, admit that you don’t have the answers, and ask God, who gives to all men generously, for understanding. And I’m confident that he will do the same for you that he did for me.

My life now has meaning and purpose. I wake up each morning with a reason to live, and a personal relationship with our Creator. That is what Jesus Christ offers, as he said many times. I’m far from perfect, since that is not what Christianity is about. I’m just a human being who is trying sincerely to know and honor my Creator, and to love my neighbor as myself. But I’m also not a drunk, a wife-beater, hypocrite, etc., as some would say all Christians are. Most non-Christians aren’t either.

If there is a God (and I say this for the sake of those who aren’t sure), do you really think he will look kindly on those who knew that Christ had promised them eternal life, but totally rejected the offer without really trying to understand? I was in that position once, and I’m very glad that I had the wisdom to seek the truth, and believe that is there was a God, he would let me know it. I would kindly urge you to do the same. I promise, you won’t regret it. That was 35 years ago, and it was the best decision I have ever made.

vincent   January 8th, 2010 - 5:50 am

Brit my hats off to you may God richly bless you for standing for righteousness and may the lord break through to tigers hurting heart and save him. I pray for tiger because i know God is able to repair the greatest of hurts and losses and restore a man to great love and peace. my Prayer is that The lord would soften tigers heart and vist him and save him so then tiger will experience the great love of His heavenly Father. since I believe this all started after he lost his real father whom tiger loved dearly. may tiger open up heart and allow the lord to bring the greatest healing ever and out of that tiger can be an example to the world of Gods great Love and Mercy for His creation.

Pat   January 8th, 2010 - 7:44 am

I am astounded. Rarely does anyone in the media have the courage to speak of the value of the Christian faith in promoting forgiveness and restoration. Thank you, Brit, for your boldness.

TJ   January 8th, 2010 - 8:31 am

I have read most of these post and I have to say that I am not surprised in some of the negative responses that I read. I hear some people really hardhearted against Christianity, And maybe some have had some really bad experiences with some Christians. As a Christian I ask for your forgiveness. But in all actuality, there will come a day that we will all answer to the things that we have done and believed. And i am sure that there are some who do not believe this truth. That ball is in your court. I have never met a perfect Christian. But I do know that God is a holy God and He desires us to walk in that holiness, but in the same instance, He is extremely merciful and is ready to forgive when we repent and ask for it.
For those who ridicule these facts, they really have not been touched by God and have not come to the conclusion in their own heart and mind that thy need forgiveness. I didn’t realize it until I was faced with the ugliness of my sin and what it was doing to me and to others.
Mister Hume, I honor you for your stand, and pray that you continue to have the strength to declare what is truly in your heart!
God Bless

Thajuana Rainey   January 8th, 2010 - 8:50 am

Britt, Praise God for standing for Jesus. The is no other faith like Christian faith. Your comments was great, I know God will bless you because of your stand.

Jude   January 8th, 2010 - 12:30 pm

A soul is a terrible thing to waste. I agree whole heartedly agree with Britt Hume in that Christianity offers us grace and peace. George Beverly Shea one said, “No matter what God allows to come into your life, you can be sure that you will be enveloped in HIS amazing grace that is sufficient for anything you face.” There is no other relationship that compares to one with Jesus Christ, and I pity those who do not see.

Lo Lo   January 9th, 2010 - 12:11 am

HURRAY FOR BRITT!!! You go Friend. It is about time that someone had the Holy Boldness to take a stand no matter what. We are the light of the world if we don’t take a stand WHO WILL??? Bless you Britt.

Pam Harper   January 11th, 2010 - 8:57 am

Thank God we still have folks that will take a moral and spiritual stand..God IS ALIVE AND WELL AND STILL WORKS MIRACLES!! THANKS BRITT!

Carson   January 11th, 2010 - 4:00 pm

A friend of mine sent Tiger a book he wrote called, “Once Life Matters: A New Beginning”. It is his Christian conversion story of his time in the music business to getting busted for dope 30 years ago. He sent it directly to Tiger at his home in Florida. Let’s hope it helps Tiger come to grips with his troubles.

Romans 14:11-13

11 For it is written. As I live, saith the Lord, every knee shall bow to me, and every tongue shall confess to God.
12 So then every one of us shall give account of himself to God.
13 Let us not therefore judge one another any more: but judge this rather, that no man put a stumbling-block or an occasion to fall in his brother’s way.

Be it…here in the Now, or be it At Eternity (the endless time after death). Each one of us have been given A Choice. I choose here in the Now, on bended knee.

Thank You, Brit for rising from Your Knees and Standing for Christianity. You shall be Richly Rewarded. This Earthly World needs the teaching of Christ Jesus more than Ever. My Prayer for You is the Strength and Courage to continue in Our Faith of Christianity for the Non-Believers.

Larry Travis   January 14th, 2010 - 8:49 pm

Brother Humes;Thank God for someone in your position to take a stand for our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ.I was really surprised to hear you speak the truth about Tiger Woods needing Christ as his personal saviour.
Truer words were never spoken more plainer, thats the problem with our country now as you well now know weare leaving God out of everything our country stands for.
With the leadership we have now things looks bad, ungodly men in high places.Well not much on this computer, but thanks for taking a stand and remember God claims them who claim Him. Look up for Christ is comming soon. A brother in Christ thanks again.
