Update: Angry Pilot Slams Plane Into Texas Building

Visit msnbc.com for breaking news, world news, and news about the economy

MSNBC: A small plane crashed Thursday into a multistory office building in what what authorities said may have been a deliberate act by a man upset with the Internal Revenue Service. The crash caused a fire and sent black smoke billowing from the seven-story structure. At least two people were injured and a third was unaccounted for. Officials told The Associated Press that authorities are trying to determine if the pilot intentionally targeted nearby office space of the IRS. They spoke on condition of anonymity because the investigation was continuing.

I find it interesting that the police automatically have to go out and say that “as well as they know” this has nothing to do with terrorism. Interesting because at that point they know nothing about the crash when they usually say this. I understand they don’t want panic but it doesn’t stop them from saying this statement.

And what is terrorism, domestic or foreign? It is any act taken to cause fear and panic. If this was on purpose to cause fear, it would be terrorism.

White Devil   February 18th, 2010 - 12:15 pm

What are the odds of hitting a building in such a clear flat land where you can see for miles in all directions. The knee-jerk reaction that it is not terrorism rings hallow. Local, State and National government think the unwashed masses are stupid.

Rexter   February 18th, 2010 - 12:17 pm

FastFacts – I like your definition of terrorism because it includes military action. If not for US and Israeli terrorism, you wouldn’t see the retaliation from the other ME countries – what little there is of it.

If a military is doing their attacks to cause terror in the lives of civilians then yes that would be terrorism, but our military is not in the business to cause terror but to help protect our country and those that are in need, nor is Israel.

As for the question about bombing on planes aka Christmas Bomber or Shoe Bomber. That would cause terror to people who fly or people in the society where it was bombed… aka terrorism. As for bombing from planes, if you mean military, the answer is above.

Don’t try to spin my words.

Snailmailtrucker   February 18th, 2010 - 1:21 pm

I am guessing that this pilot took flying lessons at the BIG SIS’S SCHOOL OF AERONAUTICS where they have a CRASH course with reduced fees for terrorists who don’t need to learn how to land!

I hear that she runs a flying school in the Arizona desert so that the terrorists will feel right at home.

The guy wrote anti-Bush rants, I wonder if he watched Keith Olberman?

@Gandi   February 18th, 2010 - 3:03 pm

You’re absolutely correct there about the guy being a loose cannon; however, it’s rather easy to disseminate which side of the wackos he would place himself as. Towards the end of his first page the ranting about why it’s taking so long on health care, the animosity towards big corporations (covering at least two pages worth), and the capper was his personal twist on the communist creed at the end of his manifest.

The sad part of all of this is people on both sides will read far too much into this other than looking at what’s really the problem, the guy felt jaded and ignored by the system leading him to assume his only way out was through this act. No rational person on either side of the political spectrum would have fathom something of this magnitude nor out and out give up their struggle.

So then, Obama failed to stop yet another terrorist attack. No big surprise here.

Ahkmed Rexter, shut the f-ck up, plain and simple. Nobody cares about your hate for Jews. We got the point. You hate them, now f-ck off.

kmichaels   February 18th, 2010 - 3:44 pm

And one more thing, Rexter, when I heard that those evil Jews killed one of your muslim extremist friends in Dubai, hell, I laughed and I laughed and I laughed. One less animal in existence.

kmichaels   February 18th, 2010 - 3:54 pm

I envision Rexter and racerx to be attempting some idiotic terrorist act in the near future. I would put them on a watch list if the FBI had not done it already.

racerx   February 18th, 2010 - 3:54 pm

He sounds like a character to me. There was a good bit of Thomas Jefferson, Patrick Henry, and Holden Caulfield in his very American personality. I would have liked to have tried to talk him out of it over a beer. He didn’t have to do that. America has passed it’s prime, by a mile or so. It’s certainly not worth dying for out of despair. There are other places to live, but you have to do your own research.

kmichaels   February 18th, 2010 - 3:55 pm

Recapping from his letter, the guy hated Bush, hated religion and blamed his woes on somebody other than himself. Sure in hell sounds like a typical dysfunctional liberal to me.

racerx   February 18th, 2010 - 3:56 pm

In other words, I would liked to have had beer with him and see if Rexter and I could recruit him to an even bigger terrorist attack against America.

kmichaels   February 18th, 2010 - 3:57 pm

Speaking of the crap faced dumbass bigoted muslim extremist racerx, here he is. What a steaming pile of puke he is.

racerx   February 18th, 2010 - 3:59 pm

As I was saying before jew lover kmichaels showed up, Rexter and I wanted to recruit this wonderful human being into our terrorist organization. We had a special job for him, since Rexter and I are too big of dumbasses to have learned to fly. I told Ahkme, I mean Rexter, that we should learn to fly back when our IDs were not so completely checked.

NEWS FLASH… THIS JUST IN….. JOHN STACK — PLANE BOMBER —- WAS A BIG FAT MARXIST/SOCIALIST !!

Yep! In his posted suicide manifesto he rails against Catholic church, corporations, GW Bush, IRS, Capitalism.

On the last page he repeats the UUtopian communist creedo: “From each according to his ability, to each according to his needs.”

And then says the Capitalist creedo is: “From each according to his gullibility, to each according to his greed.”

Why so Socialist John Stack?

Don’t hold your breath too long on this not being spun into a “political terrorist act” by those “evil right wingers”…

They’re already doing it on the Huffing-paint Post blogs and by this evening there will be calls for taking people like Beck and Hannity off the air…

The left is completely out of it’s mind and they will abuse this one just the same as they abused the Timothy McVeigh case…

The looney left will attempt to use this to take away people’s rights, make no mistake about it…

Western European banking and the EU is worse than we are. Sadly, the EU is breaking up and the Euro is going extinct pronto.

Portugal, Ireland, Spain, Greece (PIGS) are going under. Germany and France aren’t going to bail them out.

Western Europe socialism depends on the USA subsidy of our military protecting them. They can’t afford to protect themselves. They’re broke now, and if they had to spend another 2.5% GDP for their defense to make up the difference they’d break right now.

Socialism doesn’t work. And there’s no Santa Claus either.

Let’s see…Fill out supplemental form K unless you have a child with blue eyes, then fill out form J-2 as well, unless you have a dog over 20 pounds, in which case you had better fill out forms K-J5-L’-M(9), too. This is why I have an accountant do the freakin’ thing. But here is the kicker…if HE makes a mistake and you sign it, it’s YOUR fault! Great!

Go to a flat tax and there wouldn’t be an IRS office in that building because we wouldn’t need one!

STRESSES ARE MOUNTING   February 18th, 2010 - 5:03 pm

While there is NEVER any excuse for resorting to violence, this story clearly indicates that more and more Americans have “HAD IT” and are at the BREAKING POINT. The Powers That Be should OPEN THEIR EYES and recognize the STRESSES so many are enduring…

There is an article on the smoking gun site that reproduces the “angry pilot”’s last thoughts from his online website (before “authorities” asked that it be removed).

T0AD   February 18th, 2010 - 5:05 pm

The truth is that by interpreting his rant you can argue either way that the guy was a leftist extremist or a right wing extremist. It seems to me that he’s just i guy who got the stink end of the stick time after time and couldn’t handle it. It doesn’t help that all his problems happened thanks to government decisions; they become an instant scapegoat for his anger. This goes to show you how devastating that an income tax infraction can be to a persons life. I think we should all really reconsider the need for a federal income tax. This last year alone i had around 30000 taken out of my paychecks. That is more than the cost of my college and post graduate education combined. We could have real prosperity if people could keep what they earned.

Eddie   February 18th, 2010 - 5:06 pm

You’re welcome “Gandhi’s Fist”. The saddest thing is there are people, just as on 9-11, who were just trying to make a living under this regime and support their families. It’s so sad that possibly several have lost their lives due to a mentally unbalanced person. I don’t suggest a solution nor do I expect anyone else to but it’s alarming to hear more and more violence directed toward innocent folks by these type people. I suppose the current financial atmosphere and other factors are causing the little inner demons to surface. My deepest sympathy to this man’s family and any victims in the building.

john   February 18th, 2010 - 5:19 pm

These Socialist Jihadis are no different than Islamic Jihadists. Let’s hope there’s not too many of them. There just seems to be a little Bill Ayers in all these creeps, and they had already targeted Palin, Perry, and the RNC convention for firebombings.

kmichaels-

Please don’t use that bigoted language here: “One less animal in existence.”

This is a political forum, not a yeshiva. Please remember that.

It’s now common knowledge that the Talmud teaches Jews that Gentiles are subhuman.

A couple of quotations from The Talmud illustrate the point very easily.

“The Jews are called human beings, but the non-Jews are not humans. They are beasts.” TALMUD: Baba Mezia, 114b.

“It is permitted to take the body and life of a gentile.” TALMUD: Sepher Ikkarim III c 25.

kmichaels-

This type of thinking encourages Jews to think that there is nothing wrong with murdering Gentiles.

We saw the end result of this type of thinking just over a year ago in Gaza with the murder of many innocent Gentiles by the Israeli army.

Shalom,

racerx

“One Man’s Terrorist Is Another Man’s Freedom Fighter”

This is popular cliche, whose original author or speaker is hard to pin down. Some say it was Ronald Reagan and are proud of it. Others will say it is an example, for many people, of everything that is wrong with The Left. Either way this phrase is a gross oversimplification. There are many terrorists who are manifestly not freedom fighters (obvious example: Osama bin Laden). There are also many freedom fighters who are manifestly not terrorists. (obvious examples: Lech Walesa, Vaclav Havel, Martin Luther King Jr., George Washington.) Ignoring that, and implying that it’s all relative, is a great way to make people you think terrorism is okay and obscure a worthwile point.

Should an act by a U.S. citizen against his own government, albiet how violent, be called terrorism? Even if his actions are justified under the framework of the Declaration of Independence, the Constitution and the Bill of Rights. What if he believes that his government has become a tyranny?

Stop the looting start prosecuting   February 18th, 2010 - 7:49 pm

There will be more of this, just wait.

When your life’s work has been flushed down the drain by faceless bureaucrats and their boss, the Secretary of the Treasury is a tax cheat,
it’s easy to see why a man would react with violence.

There are thousands of flagrant criminals in government and Wall Street, spitting in the faces of the citizens, while they steal the fruits of our labors.

They know more is coming. The IRS is buying shotguns and Goldman Sachs leeches are getting CCW permits in NYC, where no plebeian need apply.

This twisted day in one man’s life can be a polarizing point – a deflecting

Refuse violence against institutions we may feel oppressive.
