I'm sure now he'll be blacklisted and never sell another screenplay again… you know, because Hollywood is so tolerant and diverse…

wohlfguy   February 4th, 2011 - 4:47 pm

I firmly believe that their are a lot of conservatives in Hollywood, but they are afraid of being blacklisted. I commend Mr Wallace for standing up for his beliefs.

Dave_in_Oregon   February 4th, 2011 - 4:49 pm

OK, who's the wiseguy who turned the World up/side/down again?

A Fantastic speaker showing Conservative values in Hollywood….who would have thunk it?

work4whatUwant   February 4th, 2011 - 4:49 pm

What a marvelous way to express the importance of God and prayer. I am a new fan of Randall Wallace. I'm sure that Mr. Obama was incredibly bored and confused.

fulljump   February 4th, 2011 - 4:52 pm

I just finished his book Love & Honor, a great history and fiction book about spying in Russia during the Revolutionary War. I liked it better than Brave Heart. This book should be a movie.

OldmanRick   February 4th, 2011 - 4:54 pm

This guy is incredible. I'm surprised he ever got as far in Hollywood as he has. He is what America is all about.

dontlooknow   February 4th, 2011 - 5:06 pm

Great story teller. Wonder if the bit about his father being fired by the greedy capitalists will get through the skulls of the naive neocons here?

I heard on the radio about the miner there who said something about praying to God. I wonder if he asked who God was PUNISHING and for what to keep them buried under ground for so long?

Dave_in_Oregon   February 4th, 2011 - 5:15 pm

Yeah, that miner was the one who had the mistress waiting for him…. along with his wife and kids.

edro3111   February 4th, 2011 - 5:26 pm

One of the most exceptional speakers I've ever heard. What more can I say?

Dr_Funk   February 4th, 2011 - 5:40 pm

You're so lost.

stewged   February 4th, 2011 - 5:41 pm

I met this guy once shortly after the movie 'We were Soldiers.' He is as genuine here as then. His character is solid. I would love to see a man like him in the oval office.

Indiv_Lib   February 4th, 2011 - 5:43 pm

I enjoyed the story about his Grandfather. Great speaker with all the right pauses. Nicely done.

Narcissist Extremist   February 4th, 2011 - 6:11 pm

Barry was at his humblest, a polite whitey accent. Meanwhile, Feb. is black "you're joking" month.
A whole month of Barry jacking up his black preacher accent in front of black audiences. His tone of voice will be hilarious.

Marco_Malo   February 4th, 2011 - 6:26 pm

obama's flimsy and shameless pandering to Christians since he got his ass kicked in November is the most disgusting thing I have ever seen.

I suspect there are many people in Hollywood in the entertainment industry who are spiritual and conservative, afraid to speak out. Excellent example of one who is not.

Kegan   February 4th, 2011 - 6:36 pm

AWESOME

Fangfour   February 4th, 2011 - 6:36 pm

Hmmm…..I'd rather be fired by a greedy capitalist….than shot by a fanatical communist.

BIBLICAL NEWS FLASH:

DEUTERONOMY 32:4 The Rock, perfect is his activity,
For all his ways are justice.
A God of faithfulness, with whom there is no injustice;
Righteous and upright is he.

P.S. YOU obviously missed his point he was making. He did BETTER than ever. Why? Come on…sound it out…..CAPITALISM…AND…PRAYER.

RandyTheFramer   February 4th, 2011 - 6:39 pm

Very heart felt speech.
I had to listen to it twice!

Marco_Malo   February 4th, 2011 - 6:45 pm

At long last, sir, have you no decency?

Fangfour   February 4th, 2011 - 7:00 pm

Marco,
Truly…you are a gentelman. But, please….save the title 'Sir' for those who deserve it.
Regards.

antilibtards   February 4th, 2011 - 7:03 pm

Obama……

Stunning lack of leadership in dealing with Mubarak. A 30 yr alli of the USA.

Stabs Great Britian in the back for a cheap treaty with Russia so he can appear important.

Obama is such a huge JOKE !!!

CrisD   February 4th, 2011 - 7:21 pm

Amen, Randall.

dontlooknow   February 4th, 2011 - 7:26 pm

Many of the founders were not terribly religious. I've never known an atheist who wants to take my rights away. Don't you guys rail about a religious that in your mind, real or imagined, wants to take your rights away? And don't pretend the others are much better – especially with the lens of history. Religion is a crutch at best.

dontlooknow   February 4th, 2011 - 7:27 pm

Hmmm…..I'd rather be fired by a greedy capitalist….than shot by a fanatical communist.

Right, because those are your only two choices, right? [rolling eyes]

Fangfour   February 4th, 2011 - 7:36 pm

No. There is the ONLY choice. But you as will most…will scoff at it: MATT 24:14. Daniel 2:44. [shaking head in dismay]

Bluto152L   February 4th, 2011 - 7:52 pm

… says the Marxist. What does "not terribly religious" mean? Obama is an atheist that wants to take your rights away … In fact most liberals are atheists that want to take your rights away. Your third sentence doesn't make sense.

Weren't you supposed to be the freedom except for Jews guy?

DizzieLizzie66   February 4th, 2011 - 7:52 pm

Thank you, Andrew, for sharing the gift of this man and his magnificent message. I am moved beyond words.

Brown_Labs   February 4th, 2011 - 7:55 pm

Amazing

Bluto152L   February 4th, 2011 - 8:01 pm

Holy sh*t … by the way, you're done. We all thought you were a ignorant @sshole that hated Israel due to ignorance. You just revealed yourself as an avowed leftist. Congrats.

Rush Limbaugh is a drug addicted fat man and Sean Hannity mostly eats his own boogers.

77patriot   February 4th, 2011 - 9:03 pm

Thank you, Andrew for posting this moving speech. When I hear men like Randall Wallace I know there is hope for our country.

John_Campbell   February 4th, 2011 - 9:16 pm

His statement/prayer leaves no real allude to his political views, but in his words there is no wrong to be found and very well spoken. It seems I've heard a similar story about my Grandfather as it's been told. My Grandfather was a very big man with hands sometimes claimed to be as big as a first baseman's glove. While there might be a bit of embellishment in that claim, make no mistake, his hands were huge. He lived long enough to see me as a young boy and and worked his farm well into his 80's until the day he died.

Jimmy Campbell was not a brawler, but then again most people somehow knew better than to engage him in such a manner as because it was known, thanks to those who made such a mistake, who would finish last and even if Jimmy only use an open hand. Mr. Wallace's story involving the "claw hammer" is told differently in referring to my Grandfather. Instead the reference is to the back of his hand, but the message is quite clear and the same, as well as a proper and a positive one.

Jimmy Campbell was a religious man and strived every day to live up to what it seems to be familiar back then as a near impossibility. I never met anyone back then who believed they had a place in heaven as none I knew, no matter how righteous they appeared to live, not brag by, they never seemed to feel it was enough. While they would often speak of others as good and honorable people, they never included themselves as such. It was as though the only ones, short of God himself, who could make such a statement had to be the words of others and never about themselves. It was during that time I learned that the measure of ones life, his success in life, is never measured while that person is still alive and it is never measured in how much money he made nor how popular he might have been. It's measured only after his passing and then only in how he lived his life.

Much of what I know is passed down from my Father, who is now in the twilight of his years. Each day I fear to hear the phone ring to tell me that my Father is no longer here with us and I know those days are numbered. If there's one thing my Father taught me I shall always remember it's 'Life is what you make it'. You don't get lucky finding a job. You find a job because you went after it. You don't find happiness out of some cosmic accident. You find happiness out of going after it. Often times it's the journey that has the most reward, not finally getting there. Life truly is what you make it.

Finally, my Father often told me when I was a child that his vision of success would be on the day of his passing if he had long known I would be able to carry on without him and keep the honor of our family name served well by my actions throughout my life. I can only pray I never let him down.

Wish I could vote that one up twice! :o )

John_Campbell   February 4th, 2011 - 9:33 pm

"[rolling eyes]"

LOL

I just envisioned "dontlooknow" as one of those old cartoon characters with their eyes rolling as though they were inside a slot machine. How fitting a picture! ;oD

77patriot   February 4th, 2011 - 10:22 pm

Thank you, John_Campbell. Your father is a wise man and you are blessed to have him.

Taxpayer1234   February 4th, 2011 - 10:25 pm

You're looking in the mirror again. That must really be confusing for you.

kulex1949   February 5th, 2011 - 2:40 am

After listening to that inspiring speech, this is the best You can come with. Shame on You.

Marco_Malo   February 5th, 2011 - 6:35 am

As you are undoubtedly aware, I was paraphrase quoting the Welch-McCarthy exchange. The actual words are:

"Have you no sense of decency, sir, at long last? Have you left no sense of decency?"

…words that were directed, of course, to the infamous Senator Joseph McCarthy during Senate hearings in the early 1950s. Believe me, I would not address the Breitbart troll with any such respect, and I doubt it was intended with respect when delivered by Mr. Welch to Senator McCarthy at the time.

Reallies   February 5th, 2011 - 6:54 am

Yet, you don't have a problem with government being a crutch, on which the downtrodden can lean….Shouldn't every man be required to stand or fall, of his own accord?

Sovereigntist   February 5th, 2011 - 7:32 am

I've watched this 5 times. Mr. Wallace has made me think harder and re-evaluate myself more than any blowhard politician, preacher, or pundit has in a very long time. I came to the conclusion several years ago that since God is omnipotent, he knew my un-vocalized prayers, and thus it was not necessary to pray. I even figured that saying one sincere blessing at meal time covered me henceforth.

Mr. Wallace seems to be an extremely balanced, spiritual individual. I'd love to chat with him about spiritual matters. And when he started choking up a bit, I just wanted to reach through the screen and hug the guy. I've been at the bottom and cried out myself.

Sovereigntist   February 5th, 2011 - 7:48 am

Dontlooknow, I think you missed the point. How many societies are able to provide someone the opportunities to succeed TWICE? God Bless America.

And I'm not certain what you're saying about miners and punishment? But hardships – even prolonged and terrifying hardships – are part of life. Some seek strength and comfort through God while suffering and they seek the strength to perservere afterwards. Some people are capable of accepting sufferring as a random, non-personal phenomenon. They may come out the other side completely unscathed. They may come through stronger, having discovered and defeated fear and weakness.

No offense, but I suspect your some type of collectivist, whether socialist of full-blown communist. You all have a fallacious view that the world is perfect and that suffering shouldn't exist. People are imperfect and it is those imperfections that cause suffering in others as well as in themselves. Government can't put a band-aid on every bo bo. Then of course we have tornados and floods and such – don't think I'll be waiting on FEMA.

Membel   February 5th, 2011 - 8:11 am

I have never heard him speak before. Very awesome indeed!!!

Hondo814   February 5th, 2011 - 8:55 am

Wow, Thank you Andrew for posting this also. What a wonderful morning gift to watch. Randall, Thank you for being brave to share the word of Salvation to our World Leaders. I would also like to share a song that tells the story of the criminals that died next to Jesus on the cross. Randall is such a wonderful storyteller and so is this artist. It's an old song from either the 70's or 80's and it is long, but the emotion in his words makes me feel what it is like to go to heaven. The artist name is Don Francisco and here is the link: http://songoffaith.com/mp3s/Albums/HesAlive/HA_To... Enjoy!

prmath   February 5th, 2011 - 10:10 am

GOD bless you Randall Wallace and thank you for your testimony

Harlo   February 5th, 2011 - 11:16 am

I used to work in Hollywood. I started out as a liberal but I ended my career in Hollywood as a conservative. I didn't know of any other conservatives because conservatives didn't talk about their political views. Liberals expressed their political and social views freely because they just assumed everyone thought like they did. It never occured to them that they could be offending someone because their values were not the same as mine.

Harlo   February 5th, 2011 - 11:19 am

lol… I refuse to give you a thumbs down because I think you just say this stuff to get attention and to lower your rating.

scottc0317   February 5th, 2011 - 2:28 pm

From what I can tell this is a man who prays and who is open to God's help. God is not intimidated by Hollywood. I believe Mr. Wallace will be all right.

cocoJ74   February 5th, 2011 - 4:08 pm

I believe the Hollywood-ers have caught up to Mr. Wallace's views—because many of the so called movie reviewers gave ~Secretariat~ undeserved reviews. I believe I read one review that compared the movie to the Tea Party and called it racist….so sad ..the lies that are fed to us. I saw the movie and it was Very Good and Indeed more deserving than many of those that will receive the planned praise because of the players.

yeah but they are all about the Benjamins so since he's a money maker, I think he'll be alright.

EffinOutraged   February 5th, 2011 - 5:20 pm

It is good to see that there are still men like that in the world.

We need to see more of these men, and less of the others … hurry-up Nov 2012.

Chipsbee   February 5th, 2011 - 5:39 pm

I lived there a couple years ago and I found that they really didn't listen to you if you were a conservative , unless you really made a point of it. Most of the time, they just knew you were by the way you acted. Being from Alaska didn't help either.

Bad Anchorman   February 5th, 2011 - 7:22 pm

awesome

Baltotrav   February 5th, 2011 - 7:57 pm

His wife and his kids and his friends are blessed to have him. Mr. Wallace you sir are a treasure.

LB1901   February 6th, 2011 - 12:53 pm

Praise the Lord in ALL things.

Well said, Mr. Wallace.

alnakatani   February 6th, 2011 - 2:31 pm

Randall Wallace is a decent and loving human being. Nothing else matters and it is just too bad that his loving message is responded to by some who simply wish to capitalize on Mr. Wallace's political and religious beliefs to disparage others (like President Obama). I'm sure this is not what Mr. Wallace intended and is not in keeping with his heart, his love for people. Unfortunately, this kind of "hate" is part of the American fabric as is "love".

Akula72   February 7th, 2011 - 10:38 am

@ Dontlooknow Are you oblivious to the part in his story where he spoke of the evils of the Screen Writers Union and how he became penniless as their fat cat Union bosses waited it out? Hmmmmm…..seems like you have some greedy folks on your lefty criminal-minded side.
