I can’t stand Maher, but sometimes he says something right. He wasn’t even a good actor. He has as much credibility as my dog, but my dog can’t get on TV.

AMERICA IS STUPID   July 28th, 2009 - 1:28 am

LOOK WHO IS IN THE WHITEHOUSE, A COMMUNITY ORGANIZER WHO IS DESTROYING AMERICA AND THE IDIOTS WHO VOTED FOR THIS ANTI AMERICAN CAN’T SEE THE FOREST FOR THE TREES!

Norm   July 28th, 2009 - 1:34 am

Ah yes, the Team Obama:

Obama the President: “The cops are stupid”
Sodabigot the Judge: “White men are stupid”
Maher the Monkey: “Americans are stupid”
Biden the Senator: “Black people stupid”

This is the LEFT LUNATIC NEO-SOCIALIST FRINGE at it’s finest, letting us know, in great loud resonant voices, how stupid we are.

THE NICE THING IS that Wacky’s ratings are in the TOILET – PEOPLE ARE CATCHING ON.

Сергей   July 28th, 2009 - 1:36 am

F..n jew you are ready to sell this COUNTRY any time!!!???

No Maher, thanks   July 28th, 2009 - 2:04 am

Typical America hater for a long time. Of course he excludes himself from that description. Go inflict yourself on Israel, Dog. They need something to use as bait.

Liberalism is a mental disorder and he is the poster child for that fact.

john   July 28th, 2009 - 2:57 am

Bill Maher feeds hate…
He sits there enticing millions to respond to his insults…
Typical…
To say nothing would literally kill him…
WHy is it the guy calling everyone names gets the tape…Why is it?
Notice its always a particular brand of media…CNN…
CNN is just great.

palin is a joke   July 28th, 2009 - 3:08 am

Maher didn’t know that Palin is to be inducted into Mensa the largest, oldest and best known high-IQ society in the world.

the minimum accepted score on the Stanford-Binet is 132, while for the Cattell it is 148.

Palin ranks right up there with Albert Einstein.

Maher not America.Just Palin and her right wing whacko supporters

Jamescush   July 28th, 2009 - 4:20 am

The guy above me hates women.

Sandra   July 28th, 2009 - 4:26 am

Well Bill Maher should know. The dems have run the educational system in this country for decades.

Richard Hoffman   July 28th, 2009 - 4:27 am

America is stupid. Case in point Bill Maher has a career.

Bangla Boy   July 28th, 2009 - 4:42 am

Excuse please, can I be president of your country, America? I am coming from Bangladesh.

wailinpalin   July 28th, 2009 - 5:14 am

palin for president
2012-2014 1/2

AloysiusKnight   July 28th, 2009 - 5:30 am

Yet he lives here, and depends on “those stupid people” as a means of financial support. Doesn’t this make him stupid by association?

Once again, bs from a shallow suit.

Monica   July 28th, 2009 - 5:54 am

He is right, people are watching him, he is a pin-headed mo-fo wannabe.

derren   July 28th, 2009 - 5:59 am

AloysiusKnight, taking stupid people’s money makes someone stupid by “association”?
lol are you serious with that logic? thats undoubtedly the stupidest thing i ever heard

Lynne   July 28th, 2009 - 6:40 am

I agree with Maher in the Gates case it is obviously a police macho show of force. When the police stops you they can check your record for the last 15 years. They had the opportunity to do the same thing with Gates, and once they could have seen it was his house they could have gone back to their work. But no, they had to show who is the boss around here.

We are becoming (if not already are) a police state (country rather) Look at all the “security” cameras they have in every corner, look what happens when a large gathering takes place (both GOP and DNC conventions ) where they are arrested thousands of people (and then we criticize IRAN). Like they arrested Amy Goodman from Democracy now a journalist with credentials.

Look how the Main Stream Media has news black outs on major demonstrations (like demonstrations happening now about Health care) but yet they replay the Iranian demonstration hundreds of times.

Look what is happening with the Patriot Act?
Look … Look … Look …

Police state everywhere !!!

Niles Lesh   July 28th, 2009 - 7:03 am

…I especially enjoyed he earlier funnier work.

Bill Mahr was always an excellent comedian. He did a graet job of engaging the Clinton and Bush administrations, but he so clearly has adopted an agenda of mindless ideological support of the talking points of the socialist manifesto it is tough to take him seriously:)…oh right he is a comedian or is he a news reporter,…why it like the lines are blurred, thanks to Mahr,Jon Stewart and Steven Colbert

They all perpetuates the Comedy News Deception. When standard fact checking
exposes any reporting inaccuracies, they dismiss this as part of a comedy routine, but yet some people are coming away with complete misinformation about actual valid facts

Mahr’s statement could be the per amble for “How Obama Got Elected”

Dooh !

Danny   July 28th, 2009 - 7:16 am

Hmmmm. 52% of the voting electorate voted for 0bama. That was pretty stupid. However, many of them are waking up and realizing that they’ve been had. Most of them have bailed on CNN, and Maher. I don’t think his career is much long for this world, nor is CNNs.

jumpin   July 28th, 2009 - 7:21 am

Bill used to be more of a centralist years ago and I liked him then. But within the last say 3 to 4 years he has completely gone left and rarely points out the hypocrisy of the left.

Areasay   July 28th, 2009 - 7:51 am

Maybe this is what he meant, http://stopthepresses2.blogspot.com/2009/07/renaming-of-america.html

john   July 28th, 2009 - 8:02 am

lots can be said about this guy but the bottom line is he’s is a total loser. i mean look at him…a sniviling rat faced bottom feeding degenerate. get him off my airwaves for good.

uzrphrendly   July 28th, 2009 - 8:03 am

Come on folks. Bill Maher is a stand up comic, not an intellectual. He wakes up every morning pinching himself and saying “People are actually listening to me?”. He was a wallflower teenager who gets to go to the playboy mansion. That’s his true ambition.

CommonSense   July 28th, 2009 - 8:19 am

Bill needs to get a leather jacket and some water skis. He’s freaking out because he is becoming as obsolete as he was in High School.

tom   July 28th, 2009 - 8:28 am

why are you still here then Bill?

Mike Gibson   July 28th, 2009 - 8:31 am

I haven’t watched Maher for years and he’s showed his idiocy in soooooo many ways but I have to agree with him that America is getting stupider. Barry Sotero AKA B. Hussein Obama is in the oval office, Biden is VP, Pelosi is head of the Senate, you have Kennedy, Dodd, Reid many others. His viewership is probably up. All this is proof positive that America is getting stupider. Hope this reverses itself for the sake of America.

Go Barack To School   July 28th, 2009 - 8:48 am

Yep the education system here produced a president that thinks there are 57 states, and that Austrians speak Austrian.

That from a guy you voted for…’Nuff said Bill

Dave, Tn   July 28th, 2009 - 8:54 am

He’s just pissed off he wasn’t included in Time’s most trusted Newscaster in the nation poll with Jon Stewart and those 3 comedians form the networks. Have you thanked New York for screwing the nation today?

Hosquatch   July 28th, 2009 - 8:58 am

I never thought I would agree with Bill Maher but he is correct this time. Americans are, by and large, stupid…or, more correctly, “willfully uninformed”. The evidence….?

Barack Obama, Harry Reid, Nancy Pelosi, Barney Frank, Chris Dodd, Dick Durbin, Maxine Waters, Barbara Boxer, Diane Feinstein, Charles Rangel, Russ Feingold, Charles Schumer, Barbara Lee, Al Franken…all got elected. Need I say more?

GIRL MINOR   July 28th, 2009 - 9:05 am

The American people are not “stupid” as they are misinformed. We only know what we are told in newspapers, the media, or political propiganda. To expect a full understanding of every policy being passed or every promise made, or every person we are influenced by is rediculous considering most of the time the “sources” we get our information from are either inadequately researched, heavily one sided, or not taken time to think through the processes it will take to get where we want to go. It is information NOW and fast and too much gets left out when things like Micheal Jackson or some other Sorry case deams more important than the well being of our country. When everything is politics it is not hard to lose track of which side to stay with when both have really good ideas and both have some pretty bad ones. Instead of picking on the American PEOPLE for all our woes why not blame you people on top who we trust to guide us in the right direction. We do not lack inteligence. If America seems stupid it is probably because of the people like Bill Maher who speak FOR us. (And his lack of eloquency as well as facts made him seem far more stupid than any highschooler I know who forgot to research their project before preaching it.)

CommonSense   July 28th, 2009 - 9:09 am

Lynne July 28th, 2009 – 6:40 am – Um……shhhhhhh……breath…..shhhhhh…..it’s ok the black helicopters are gone.

Consrvativ_KDH   July 28th, 2009 - 9:13 am

Less is Maher.

Barack Oburnout   July 28th, 2009 - 9:18 am

So he says that Americans are stupid…and he is a big time lib…yet the Dems have the House, the Senate, and the White House…hhmmm.

I think we all know who the stupid one is. Where is your superior intellect in this equation, Bill?

look at the details   July 28th, 2009 - 9:18 am

Do agree with him that some Americans are stupid, clearly 48% (and growing) are not.
Billy boy only speaks of what he specializes in, stupidity. So collectively they support each others stupidity, meanwhile like the current prez, they project their faults onto someone else…as per usually by this lazy minded set.
Long time ago found him somewhat entertaining, now however, just don’t have the patience for that kind of malicious and sleazy humor to make their political points.

Dave   July 28th, 2009 - 9:41 am

Let’s see Obama wins election. People actually watch Bill Maher, and we tolerate shenanigans pulled by Acorn and team Obama. Pretty hard to argue with him because he’s right (first time for everything).

He's right   July 28th, 2009 - 10:02 am

He might be right, look who’s in the white house.

sofa   July 28th, 2009 - 10:12 am

Evidence that America is stupid: Look who is president. Who has majority in house and senate? Who voted them in?

Stupid is as Stupid does.

kmichaels   July 28th, 2009 - 10:25 am

Maher is right. He is stupid and anyone that takes him seriously is stupid. Listen to that dope. Does he provide why those that like Palin would be stupid. Does he provide a rational reason why Sarah is a bad leader? He is a a putz. Obama is a socialist pig and Maher is a useless tool that is propped up by idiots as big as he is. Liberals are elistist snobs fool of himself. What is bright about Obama again? That he spends money to get us out of bankruptcy? That he institutes socialist programs to help the economy? That he believes in the farce of global warming? Yes, America liberals are very stupid and anyone that agrees with them are even more stupid. But Maher is poster boy for stupid.

Stargazer   July 28th, 2009 - 10:25 am

Hmmm. The phrase “kill the messenger” seems to be swirling inside my head at present.
I direct your attention to just one of many research studies into the nation’s brain.
This one by the Intercollegiate Studies Institute tested Civics literacy found that: “Of the 2,508 People surveyed, 164 say they have held an elected government office at least once in their life. Their average score on the civic literacy test is 44%, compared to 49% for those who have not held an elected office. Officeholders are less likely than other respondents to correctly answer 29 of the 33 test questions.”

In each of the following areas, for example, officeholders do more poorly than non-officeholders:

•Seventy-nine percent of those who have been elected to government office do not know the Bill of Rights expressly prohibits establishing an official religion for the U.S.
•Thirty percent do not know that “life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness” are the inalienable rights referred to in the Declaration of Independence.
•Twenty-seven percent cannot name even one right or freedom guaranteed by the First Amendment.
•Forty-three percent do not know what the Electoral College does. One in five thinks it either “trains those aspiring for higher political office” or “was established to supervise the first televised presidential debates.”
•Fifty-four percent do not know the Constitution gives Congress the power to declare war. Thirty-nine percent think that power belongs to the president, and 10% think it belongs to the Joint Chiefs of Staff.
•Only 32% can properly define the free enterprise system, and only 41% can identify business profit as “revenue minus expenses.”

Conclusion: stop name-calling, blaming, and demonizing and start reading to your children!

Daver   July 28th, 2009 - 10:44 am

Present company excepted, right Bill? Farkin elitist.

Johndoe   July 28th, 2009 - 10:49 am

Bill Maher says what the majority of Leftwingers think, but few have the temerity to actually say out loud. This is what makes them elitists. To which they predictably reply “but we’re not the rich ones!”, as if ‘elitism’ has to do with wealth. Pure disingenousness. But Maher is honest and up front. Kudos for that.

Magyarfrau   July 28th, 2009 - 10:51 am

About 10 years ago I used to watch Bill M on occasion. He has certainly made his leftist radical self known since then. I haven’t found him funny for years. Americans who voted for Obama I would consider very naive. They were taken in by the flim flam man and his cronies. As far as Americans being stupid– yeah stupid for even listening to this frustrated hateful individual ( Maher) –maybe that is why he protests so loud– nobody really cares what he says.

neyney   July 28th, 2009 - 10:55 am

Bill who?

peter c   July 28th, 2009 - 11:05 am

Stargazer….the people who need to read and learn the Constitution are the Democrats in Congress right now…They have been ,and are ,trashing the Constitution with such arrogance and hateful lies that we are in danger as a country…our Rights are being taken away and Socialism will prevail if they have their way.

Just today Pelosi and Obama told all Republicans that they can NOT use the term “Government-Run health Care” or a “Democrat Health Care bill” in any messages sent to their constituents!!! This IS an attack against FREE SPECH and the Right of FREE SPECH of the representatives who owe the people explanations about the Bills and Laws they vote on..It shows the LIES Pelosi and Obama and the Dems perpetrate EVERY DAY!!!

They lie about the unborn…about Obama’s past…about the CIA…about our military…about the poor…about illegal aliens….about the Stimulus package…about the NON success of that bill…about job lose….about their own corruption within their party….and so much more.

They have commited treasonable offences…like calling the war lost when out troops were fighting the Surge….they voted against the surge…they voted for the war and then did EVERYTHING they could to undermine the war.

They lied about Obama’s MARXIST past…and his MARXIST mentors…his training of ACORN….about his wife and her Patient Dumbing at the U.Chicago Hospital….They refuse to investigate ACORN..The SEIU…and all their arms of Communist agendas…..

So,it’s the DEMS who need to read the constitution sir….
the people were indoctrinated by a LYING Media to vote for this Racist Obama….the people decided to be “Willingly Blind”

But it is haters Like Maher and those on MSNBC etc…who are the stupid Americans…because the people are waking up to Obama’s Communist agenda….They are seeing it…And Maher and the others thought they would NEVER see through these lies..
Vote ALL DEMS out come 2010 and 1012….before they kill America forever…God Help us.

Dan   July 28th, 2009 - 11:06 am

‘America is stupid’

Nice to know intelligence is defined by a bitter old man.

Nicholas Billadeau   July 28th, 2009 - 11:17 am

What an elitist douche bag. Somebody needs to slap him around a bit.

Ricky Vaughn's Haircut   July 28th, 2009 - 11:21 am

“I don’t need to clarify. It is.”

Bill is one of those people who cannot distinguish between assertions and fact. Actually, he frequently confuses the two.

Mike   July 28th, 2009 - 11:31 am

Well, Mr. Bill, pot, meet kettle. I think your main problem is that you are short, in both height AND intellect. I know you realize that if you weren’t able to use your “celebrity” to get on tv, NO ONE would listen to anything you have to say. That you are permitted to spew your bile to a larger audience is some evidence of the truth of the old saw that “even a blind pig occasionally finds an acorn.” Instead of constantly whining, you, of all the pseudo-intellectuals I know of, should be on your knees, thanking everyone for the benefits a no-talent like yourself has gotten from being in this “stupid” country, you hypocrite. And if it makes you so uncomfortable to be around such pervasive stupidity, here’s my suggestion, you effete snob. Do us ALL a favor and LEAVE! But don’t just promise to, like your butt-buddy Alec. I’m very sure that you won’t be missed, even by people YOU think are smart.

Get Barack to Where You Once Belong   July 28th, 2009 - 11:59 am

What?…a smug elitist left wing liberal loudmouth a$$hole! They exist? No way!

wildman   July 28th, 2009 - 12:06 pm

He should know. The majority of his viewers are idiots. watching him surely doesnt help raise their iq. thanks bill.

Maggio Slooter   July 28th, 2009 - 12:13 pm

Give these hubris-impaired glitterati enough time and enough rope and they’ll always hang themselves publicly (Or perhaps he’s falling on the libs’ sword to take heat off Obama’s “stupidly” gaffe?). His smugness is as nauseating as his contention that anyone who objects by email to his statement is stupid. Maher just “jumped the snark” one too many times. It’ll be fun watching his ratings slide into oblivion. He’ll be just one more pathetic footnote like Rosie, Joy, et al.

Steve   July 28th, 2009 - 1:17 pm

Maher lives in an insulated world (Hollywood)where everyone kisses his butt and tows the liberal line(or at least pretends to). If he ever truly understood what everyday America really is he has long-since forgotten. At the end of the day he’s just sad and pathetic. Let’s move the country back to the right and give him a wake-up call.

Norm   July 28th, 2009 - 1:23 pm

Who the hell is Bill Maher? I would think the only Americans that are stupid are the ones that watch his liberal show. He isn’t media, he isn’t entertaining, and he isn’t funny.

Chris   July 28th, 2009 - 1:47 pm

Who the hell is Bill Maher anyway? Nothing but hate, complaining, and arrogance coming from his face. Bill: get the F*%$ out of this country!

Willik   July 28th, 2009 - 2:09 pm

Correct comment; wrong reason!

I wonder if he has checked out who is running the country into the ground?

He must be orating while looking in the mirror.

Ted   July 28th, 2009 - 2:39 pm

“Stupid” is defined as “willful ignorance”. “Willful” means that stupid is a deliberate act of will, and since ignorance means lack of knowledge, then Maher is actualy right for a change.

The American people DELIBERATELY ignored Obama’s lack of credentials and ability, and his proven history of marxist fascist activism, and failure.

31% of eligible American voters have proven themselves “stupid” by their free act of voting for the DNC criminal organization.

A further 43% of eligible American voters have also proven themselves “stupid” by deliberately opting out of the democratic process by not bothering to vote at all.

There are however a few Americans to whom Maher owes an apology.

Firstly to the 27% of eligible voters that took their responsibility as citizens of a democratic state seriously, and so became properly informed and therefore voted against enslavement by Obama/DNC gangster rule.

There is also the 25% of the American popluation that were too young to vote in this election. There may be a few non-stupid folks in that group too.

So, Maher is partly correct. The data proves that 74% of eligible American voters are indeed “stupid”.

Just One American   July 28th, 2009 - 2:56 pm

Re: “Bill Maher: America is Stupid”

Considering how many idiots watch his program, he might, very well, have a point!

bright eyes...   July 28th, 2009 - 3:45 pm

Maher might have something here. We elected Hussein Obama and Joe Biden. On the other hand, we keep allowing MORONS like Letterman, Maher, Conon o’brien, william shatner, and others demonize this woman Sarah Palin and her family without exceptions and the stupidity lies in that by tuning in and watching these morons night after night we give them what they seek…….high ratings. TURN THEM OFF.

God Help us   July 28th, 2009 - 10:39 pm

Bill is a Pinhead. But he is right. Look who is president and is running congress and the senate. Enough Said!!!!!!

NOW THE NONSTUPID WILL HAVE TO CLEAN IT ALL UP   July 28th, 2009 - 11:03 pm

No, America is NOT STUPID. ONLY THE IDIOTS WHO VOTED FOR THIS CURRENT REGIME ARE STUPID. Big difference.

NOW THE NONSTUPID WILL HAVE TO CLEAN UP THE MESS.

Andy   July 29th, 2009 - 1:44 am

I just lost 10 IQ points. If he does not have to clarify why is he being interviewed?

poetopoet   July 29th, 2009 - 7:14 am

I think his man left with his seven, he hates the world now.

Anon   July 29th, 2009 - 2:15 pm

I like how all your comments just prove his point.

Rufus   July 29th, 2009 - 2:55 pm

Bill is correct. America is stupid. The problem is that stupid people (like most of the people making comments here) are too stupid to know they are stupid.

STUPID IDIOTS   July 29th, 2009 - 3:47 pm

THE IDIOTS WHO ELECTED THE CURRENT IDIOTS ARE STUPID, RIGHT.

Mark   July 29th, 2009 - 3:48 pm

@ Anon – astute observation. This link must’ve been posted on a Fox News-related site; the peoples’ comments read like Hannity talking points.

Baa baa, sheep. Repubs and Dems are two sides of the same coin.

Ken Pasco   July 30th, 2009 - 12:03 am

I agree with Rufus. Stupid people actually don’t know that they are stupid. These kinds of people are the ones who keep Rush and O’Reilly, two of the biggest windbags the country has ever seen, in business. I’m 63 years old, and trust me, the older I get, the more stupid America becomes – must be something wrong with the gene pool…. oh well

patrick geraghty   August 2nd, 2009 - 5:44 pm

Bill’s RIGHT! get over it IDIOTS! Palin,I can see Russia from my backyard, blah, blah, blah by golly! Idiots!

KA Walsh   August 3rd, 2009 - 8:25 pm

Patrick just proved how uniformed liberals are. Apparently, he believes everything he hears and sees on TV. That “I can see Russia from my backyard” was in fact spoken by the Palin Wanabe from SNL. Patrick, take Grand Ma’s advice “Keep your mouth shut and let people think you are stupid, don’t open it and prove you are.”

KA Walsh   August 3rd, 2009 - 8:32 pm

Oldbluesboy-Your dog is more talented than Bill Maher. Maher probably wishes he could lick his private parts like your dog can. I hear he practices for hours every day.

janine   August 4th, 2009 - 10:13 am

Junior senator from Illinois in the White House, former Saturday Night live comedian in the Senate. Sarah Palin wasn’t qualified, but a peanut farmer from Georgia and a woman- chaser from Arkansas were fine. I guess we ARE a stupid country…..

Janine   August 4th, 2009 - 6:43 pm

If Maher thinks America is so stupid, why doesn’t he take his American-made dollars and LEAVE!?

suetiggers   August 9th, 2009 - 9:41 am

These comments just prove how much people, AMERICANS MAINLY ???cannot take the truth !! It just reminds me of the kid and the Emporer’s new clothes. The kid tells the truth and others are shocked. America needs more Bill Mahers. I think he’s very traditional about women…but so many men are. He’s a slutty guy and doesn’t want to grow up. Oh well, nobody’s perfect. But about just about everything else? He is DEAD ON.
The critics think they can pidgeon hole him but he’s an intellectual anarchist and we’ve had too few of those in this country and we’ve suffered because of it. And probably some of the idiots above have suffered too but they just are too damned dumb to get it. Probably part of the stupid crew that put Bush in and kept him in.

Obamawonkenobi   August 10th, 2009 - 4:22 pm

suetiggers stfu jew hater you probably think the jooooooooooooooos did 9/11 right wouldn’t suprise me

Douglas   August 11th, 2009 - 2:18 pm

I’m not a fan of Bill Maher, but after reading the comments left on this blog, I have to agree with him, This is a great country, but most people forget that we all have the right to have our own opinions, and calling some one un-American for stating their opinion is just plain stupid, un-American what the hell does that even mean, as far as Sarah Paling being as smart as Einstein, well, that is just laughable, have you even heard the woman speak? She cant even finish a sentence.

This is my opinion and if your don’t like it, just live America and go back to where ever your ancestors came from.

[...] captured on video about his support for a single-payer (Government run) system. Problem is, the American people aren’t as stupid as the President and the Democratic leadership think we [...]

Ed   September 6th, 2009 - 9:26 am

Considering all the stupid, angry comments here in opposition to Bill’s opinion, his point is made.

Marek Walczyk   October 13th, 2009 - 5:45 pm

Hey, Maher! How do you tell who is stupid?
Answer: stupid is, who call other people stupid you moron.
Just shot your ugly hole

Larry Mills   October 13th, 2009 - 11:45 pm

Bill Maher believes he came from monkey’s and I think he is right because he does look like one. As far as him calling Americans stupid, than he must be stupider than the one’s he calls stupid because he still is living in America. What a dummy.

Omar   October 17th, 2009 - 2:40 am

This country is stupid, George Bush was the biggest moron I’ve ever seen..
