Bikinis, Sledgehammers & iPods: ReasonTV Takes on ‘Buy American’ Sloganeering

“The Jeep Patriot, despite it’s name is actually less American than some Toyota products. It’s literally impossible—at least in any practical sense—to ‘buy American.’â€

Ross Perot described it best – THAT GIANT SUCKING SOUND – you get it when you buy goods manufactured outside of the USA.

1 job in automobile manufacturing creates 691 secondary jobs.

If Wacky and his gang of droolers can track down old ladies buying cigarettes on the internet, then I’ll bet General Motors can tell you how much foreign content they have the good old Cadillac.

Don’t give me this false surprise about the iPOD not being American. NO ELECTRONICS are made in the US. Who doesn’t know this? But the REASON for this, however, is the very attitude you project. You don’t need to find out where all the parts are – just RAISE TARIFFS! It then becomes self-regulating.

Yeah, Chinese come here and buy products made in China. Big Whoop!

Freedom to impoverish the nation in order to benefit mega-corporations? George Mason University has been a hotbed of ivory tower leeches like this guy who think free trade, despite it being shown to only benefit CHINA and the like, can be sold to the US. We’ve seen the effects. We don’t want it. And GUESS WHAT! NO OTHER COUNTRY engages in it! THEY ARE OUT FOR THEMSELVES while these ivory tower professors that live off the fat of other people’s labor bloviate on about “free trade” and likely get their donations from Chinese interests like the Clintons.

My two Hondas have each had the most American parts in their class. More than any other American brand. Thats the result of a decision by American auto companies.

BUY MADE IN USA   July 22nd, 2009 - 4:25 pm

NO, IT IS NOT IMPOSSIBLE TO BUY AMERICAN. You just have to check the tags carefully and be willing to pay a little more (usually) for a BETTER QUALITY PRODUCT.

If you BUY MADE IN CHINA, you will very likely experience disappointment, broken goods, and damaged HEALTH because so many of their products are TOXIC.

MADE IN USA IS BETTER   July 22nd, 2009 - 4:30 pm

We recently decided to replace our large microwave with a smaller one. The first microwave we bought, made in China, was by Sunbeam. It BURNT OUT THE MOTOR IN THE FIRST WEEK. Took it back to store and replaced it with a microwave made in China by Emerson. IT STARTED HOWLING & GROWLING THE FIRST WEEK OUT OF THE BOX! Took it back to store again, and replaced it with the same make… So far, fingers crossed, this one is working–now into its 3rd or 4th week!

If THIS one goes out, we will bring our large microwave up from basement and just go back to using it and losing some counter space!

Similar situation prevailed with recent TV purchase:
Bought a VIZIO made in China that STUNK UP THE LIVING ROOM SO BAD FROM TOXIC PLASTICS & PROBABLY LEAD-CRAP THAT WE RETURNED IT!

Similar situation with a new REFRIGERATOR! IT STINKS, LITERALLY!! *WHAT* ARE CHINESE MANUFACTURERS DOING TO TOXIFY EVERYTHING THEY PRODUCE?

THEY JUST ARE NOT MAKING THINGS LIKE THEY USED TO, WHEN THEY WERE “MADE IN USA”!

Communist Chinese industrialists (not Taiwan) have a “pirate” mentality, and the state of their industrial ethics is similar to that in the United States at the dawn of the twentieth century when Upton Sinclair wrote his book “The Jungle” about the meat packing industry. They are literally 100 years behind us in their thinking.

Thus we find products produced in Communist China are subject to adulteration (meaning – to debase or make impure by adding inferior materials or elements; use cheaper, inferior, or less desirable goods in the production of a professedly genuine article or product). Thus we have toys containing lead, baby formula and pet food containing powdered plastics, “glycerin” that is automobile antifreeze, etc., etc.

OUR GOVERNMENT HAS BETRAYED US by permitting these products to come into our country to poison and maim our fellow citizens. THE CAPTAINS OF AMERICAN INDUSTRY WHO ALLOW THESE PRACTICES HAVE BETRAYED THEIR FELLOW CITIZENS. Only WE can change this, and for the sake of future generations we MUST CHANGE IT. We need to severely restrict trade with Communist China and subject their products to a thorough analysis before they hit the streets, and we must put American citizens who encourage or support these practices IN PRISON.

There are some sociopaths who will poison their neighbors and their grandchildren for a buck. We must recognize this and STOP IT.

Let the Communists poison themselves, and support the freedom-loving people of Taiwan!
