‘Conspiracy Theory’: Barney Frank Slams Claim MA Dems Would Stall a Brown Certification

Washington Times: "That is the stupidest thing I've been asked in a long time. That is insane, the suggestion could only come from a demented right wing source," erupted Representative Barney Frank (D - MA), when asked by The Washington Times about what he thought regarding assertions that Massachusetts Democrats would stall the certification process should Mr. Brown win. "There isn't the slightest possibility of it happening---a way of doing it. That is conspiracy theory at its most contemptible."

BullDawg   January 13th, 2010 - 5:07 pm

The last time the American people believed anything this Socialist said was when he admitted to being a sausage eater. This man destroyed the housing industry while Socialist were in charge but he blames Bush. I am sick of all these dam politicians and they all need to go. http://www.givemeliberty2010.com

Joel   January 13th, 2010 - 5:07 pm

What does Brown know about the economy? Does he know the country is still in the BUSH RECESSION?

MagicMan   January 13th, 2010 - 5:19 pm

Actually, Bawney, it came from the Boston Herald, that conservative rag:

http://www.bostonherald.com/business/healthcare/view.bg?articleid=1224249&format=text

Talen   January 13th, 2010 - 5:24 pm

Joel, you do realize that the dems had control of house and senate since 2006. So can you really put full ownership of the recession in Bush’s hands? It’s a rhetorical question because I already know your answer, but I mainly typed this out for folks that actually try to think for themselves.

BullDawg   January 13th, 2010 - 5:39 pm

Joel…………Leave the XBOX alone long enough to read and you will understand your boy friend Barney was in charge of the housing industry when things went to hell in a hand basket and yes it was when Bush was their but your boy Barney lied numerous times (checkout UTUBE) that all was fine on his watch.

RogerCfromSD   January 13th, 2010 - 5:45 pm

A simple, “No” would’ve sufficed. But, Miss Priss had to go on and on, hyperventilating about the Right again. He ends up sounding like a conspiracy theorist himself.

claspur   January 13th, 2010 - 5:47 pm

They can stall all they want, that health care bill can’t get signed until that seat gets filled.

claspur   January 13th, 2010 - 5:49 pm

Time for this turd-bumper get stepped-in in a back alley, regardless…

JL   January 13th, 2010 - 6:04 pm

Interestingly, the reporter did not even get to finish the question before he started his answer. He knew what she was going to ask because the stall is already planned.

SmartestOne   January 13th, 2010 - 6:15 pm

Claspur, The seat IS filled — with an interim senator (who happens to be FOR the crappy “health care” bill) until after the election is held.

The Dims WILL do everything in their power to rush the bill through and stall the installation of MA Sen. Brown.

Tyler   January 13th, 2010 - 6:17 pm

This isn’t a conspiracy – it is a simple fact, which has been clearly stated and clarified by several people, including Coakley’s own constituents.

It is also a simple fact that these same Democrats changed MA law to allow for an incoming politician to help sabotage A Republican bill.

These people drip with hypocricy

Everytime that this pervert is asked a question he does everything in his power to make the person asking the question look stupid.

He wants to turn the focus of the question back onto the questioner so that when he doesn’t answer the question he still comes out looking as if he had.

This disgusting pig needs to be removed from any public office too!

Next week, Jan. 19th. 2010 in Massachusetts, we can inflict a fatal blow to the Democrats by putting the Senate seat of the people of Massachusetts into the Conservative hands of Scott Brown.
If we can take the seat formerly held by Ted Kennedy away from the libs right in their own backyard, it will send a message that we are coming for them and nothing will stop us!

To help make this happen go and help Scott Brown in any way that you can!

I can’t think of a better place in the entire country to show the liberals that we are taking back our country, than in one of the most liberal states in the country!

come on people   January 13th, 2010 - 7:45 pm

I am repulsed by Frank’s hypocrisy in making this claim (reminds me of “Casablanca”– Gambling! What gambling). But as a staunch conservative and someone who passionately believes in the liberty and freedom of our glorious country I am also repulsed by the language and name calling of many of the posts in response to this video. The allusions to violence are even worse. Ronald Reagan and William F. Buckley are perhaps the two most effective proponents of the conservative philosophy in our time, and neither felt the need for slandering of their opponents as individuals. We will prevail, but not through hatred or personal denigration of others. We’ll prevail because America is about liberty, not the statist approach being advocated by the current administration.

Barney Frank is a poster child for what is wrong in American politics today.

And I do not give a rats behind that he is gay,,, that is just another one of those non issues that the left uses to keep a portion of the public on their plantation….

The left is using you like a tool….

H2K   January 13th, 2010 - 10:00 pm

Barney paints this as a conspiracy theory because he feels the democrats and ACORN will find enough felons, dead people, and illegals to vote multiple times thus securing a democrat victory.

Emudude   January 13th, 2010 - 10:20 pm

One of the reasons that Democrats keep winning these seats (Besides ACORN) is that the areas they live in are full of Like Minded People. The Democrats convince them that if you vote for them, you will get some sort of pay off. If you are part of a Union, or a Business that supports that candidate chances are, you will get the Payoff (Through Illegal Siphoning of tax payer dollars after the Politician lines thier own pockets of course). If you are not rich or profitable, but are gullible, you get no pay off and your life will get more miserable.

"anything" for a vote is unamerican   January 13th, 2010 - 10:47 pm

A political correspondent is making waves with his stern warning that Democrats are scheming to manipulate the electoral process this election year by implementing a federal mandate to involuntarily register millions of people to vote – making the system ripe for unprecedented fraud and abuse.

“Democrats were very rattled by the Nov. 3 election results,” Wall Street Journal reporter and political commentator John Fund told a crowd in November 2009, at a David Horowitz Freedom Center forum. “What do liberals do when they lose elections? They change the rules.”

Come On People 7:45 pm I think most on this board agree with you in theory. However you don’t seem to comprehend one important concept: the left is playing for keeps. They are not a live and let live crowd. There will be no “do overs” Once you find out this truth, you will understand that the topics commented on usually get the author fired up. Still your point about being over the top has some merit, and hopefully would be taken into account by the author at the time of opining.

Greg Zotta   January 14th, 2010 - 3:08 am

The libs/Democrats/socialists don’t have to follow no stinking laws. Kennedy put the law in place when Kerry was running for President because he didn’t want Romney to choose Kerry’s replacement if Kerry had won. Then they changed the law when Teddy finally died so they can keep CONTROL. That’s is what these policies, (healthcare, cap & tax, cardcheck etc.) are all about CONTROL. Look what King Bloomberg did in New York, he bribed the legislature to change the law so he could run for a third term. He then spent over 100 million dollars on the election that he barely won. Then you get restrictive laws and stupid policies being implemented such as the gun and smoking laws. Although he has armed bodyguards and quit smoking. Then he’s passed out pamphlets on how to properly shoot up heroin. And now he’s attacking salt. Why spend over 100 million dollars for a job that pays far less, and I believe he is only being paid one dollar except for the POWER. Obama and the Dems want to do that to the rest of the country. It’s appropriate that this battle is taking place in Massachussetts.

Joe Ryder   January 14th, 2010 - 11:09 am

I have already intimated to you the danger of parties in the state, with particular reference to the founding of them on geographical discriminations. Let me now take a more comprehensive view, and warn you in the most solemn manner against the baneful effects of the spirit of party, generally.

This spirit, unfortunately, is inseparable from our nature, having its root in the strongest passions of the human mind. It exists under different shapes in all governments, more or less stifled, controlled, or repressed; but, in those of the popular form, it is seen in its greatest rankness, and is truly their worst enemy.

The alternate domination of one faction over another, sharpened by the spirit of revenge, natural to party dissension, which in different ages and countries has perpetrated the most horrid enormities, is itself a frightful despotism. But this leads at length to a more formal and permanent despotism. The disorders and miseries, which result, gradually incline the minds of men to seek security and repose in the absolute power of an individual; and sooner or later the chief of some prevailing faction, more able or more fortunate than his competitors, turns this disposition to the purposes of his own elevation, on the ruins of Public Liberty.

Without looking forward to an extremity of this kind, (which nevertheless ought not to be entirely out of sight,) the common and continual mischiefs of the spirit of party are sufficient to make it the interest and duty of a wise people to discourage and restrain it.

It serves always to distract the Public Councils, and enfeeble the Public Administration. It agitates the Community with ill-founded jealousies and false alarms; kindles the animosity of one part against another, foments occasionally riot and insurrection. It opens the door to foreign influence and corruption, which find a facilitated access to the government itself through the channels of party passions. Thus the policy and the will of one country are subjected to the policy and will of another.

There is an opinion, that parties in free countries are useful checks upon the administration of the Government, and serve to keep alive the spirit of Liberty. This within certain limits is probably true; and in Governments of a Monarchical cast, Patriotism may look with indulgence, if not with favor, upon the spirit of party. But in those of the popular character, in Governments purely elective, it is a spirit not to be encouraged. From their natural tendency, it is certain there will always be enough of that spirit for every salutary purpose. And, there being constant danger of excess, the effort ought to be, by force of public opinion, to mitigate and assuage it. A fire not to be quenched, it demands a uniform vigilance to prevent its bursting into a flame, lest, instead of warming, it should consume.
