When I was in Denver, the police came into our neighborhood almost every other week carrying assault rifles. They would circle a house and bust it and then they would leave. Why would Denver police have assault rifles, enough for normal busts, and Arizona Police not be able to afford it. I would donate if I had the money.

They are defending our country and yet they can barely pay to defend themselves. This is sad. It is just like the military, they get huge amounts of money and they can't protect and provide for our troops.

Allowing heavily armed drug smugglers into the country is a major crime that a government should never commit.

Confiscate the AK's & AR's from the smugglers, run them by an armorer to make sure they're safe to use, and put'em back in service with the Sherriff's Department.

I think this should be a time where law enforcement laments the fact the WE THE PEOPLE, in violation of equal protection clause (14th Amendment) and of course the Second Amendment cannot buy the same firearms as police. Yesterday Texas Rancher was talking about these guys. Not only are they heavily armed but apparently this is another "ooops, look what we did Bin Laden" moment. We apparently trained these guys with our special forces. Not your average cartel thugs. Highly trained and skilled fighters. We need to match force and skill with force and skill against these guys. Local Leos and Border Patrol just aren't trained or equipped for them.

That said, you are right. We can't let it go. I'd personally like to see our counterinsurgency troops and special forces guys over here. They would be well matched but they could make pretty quick work of them.
