‘Avatar’ Director James Cameron Curses Out Fan Who Asks for Autograph

"I don't owe you a f**king signature ... just get out of my f**king personal space."

Nice, huh? Doesn’t he know that THE MOVIEGOERS can make or break Avatar. He is an arrogant A$$. I hope Santa brings him a big bag of cole.

shane2813   December 25th, 2009 - 3:02 am

HOW DARE YOU ASK ME A QUESTION!!! Why are all the Leftists so ANGRY???

Truthbetold   December 25th, 2009 - 3:10 am

This is so Hollywood. And James Cameron is revered there as one of the best !

He could have simply said, “Sure,” or “Thanks for seeing my movie,” But the fact is that nearly all of Producers, Directors, and Agents in “Hollywood” are like this. They have contempt for the “little people,” the people who pay their royalties. Hypocrites. It is very similar to the Senate and Congress. The taxpayers pay ALL the country’s expenses, including the chairs that the fat cats in Washington sit on and the Air Force One, Two, and Three that Barry Soetoro Hussein Obama flies around the world in to apologize for the Capitalism he so clearly forgets that he benefits from….

This is what we need to do: Stop going to the movies because we saw a cute ad..and read the movie reviews BEFORE buying a ticket and be very, very selective of what we pay to see and what we take our children to see. Avatar is a no-go just for this episode alone. Thank you for asking for an autograph! You can vote with your wallet! This is the only way to change this kind of arrogance and contempt.

sallyfarrar   December 25th, 2009 - 3:13 am

they’re both jerks…..

JJorro   December 25th, 2009 - 3:38 am

This guy shouldn’t feel too bad. This is how Cameron treats his actors. Ed Harris won’t ever work with this guy again. He treated one of his actresses like that and ended up marrying her somehow years later.

So, looking on the bright side…:)

Jon Paul   December 25th, 2009 - 4:23 am

Hey, this lunatic was totally out of control and wouldn’t back off. This guy was abusive and threatening to Cameron. There are too many dangerous people out on the streets for this well known director to stop, at night, in a poorly lit area, and give this guy who rushes up to him demanding an autograph. This stupid “autograph rage” fanatic was clearly in the wrong.

Shiori   December 25th, 2009 - 4:27 am

Wealthy Leftists never feel they ‘Owe’ anything. They just feel that We all owe the government our money. But, they’re special – they don’t have to sacrifice, they’re artists who ‘enlighten’ the world with smarmy propaganda.

txmike   December 25th, 2009 - 4:44 am

Looney leftard becomes unglued when his leftard superior refuses to give him a signature. Looney leftard subordinate berates his progressive superior once the writing is on the wall that his superior will not succomb to blackmail based upon a false claim that some moral code was broken.
These two progressive nutbags deserve each other.

Greg   December 25th, 2009 - 5:38 am

The autograph seeker is an IDIOT. Leave James alone you CREEP. TMZ.com is a creep for promoting this non sequiter.

mesndblues   December 25th, 2009 - 6:15 am

Dear lunatic fan, the 15 dollars you paid to Camerons cause was only good towards viewing the film he made. It really dosn’t give you carte blanche to stalk the man…And if you think his movie is so lacking in plot (that a three year old could figure it out) why, oh why did you spend your evening at a airport terminal waiting for a chance to get his autograph? As much as I despise Hollywood types, I’ll reserve my deepest contempt for jag-offs like you.

claspur   December 25th, 2009 - 8:01 am

This is why I don’t go to movies anymore.
Got a really bad ‘tude of Cameron when I saw some show of Him owning such artifacts as The Wheel from The Titanic.(not the wheel in the movie) Knowone belongs owning something like that, btw…

This video will get sent-out by me to frieds; some of whom have seen Avatar and liked it. (wonder what they’ll think of it now-when the see what a douchebag this snob is?)

The guy mouthing-at Cameron said the picture had no plot. First reviews I heard was that it was PC Eco-trash. So, I knew I wasn’t going to go anyway.

First people I talked with that saw it said that there was an announcment made to throw your 3D glasses away after the movie. A second person I talked with said it was referring-to making sure they got tossed to insure they’d be *re-cycled. lmao (there’ya go…. *sigh )

someguywithterribleshoes   December 25th, 2009 - 8:26 am

All of you people defending Cameron are idiots.

cecil91   December 25th, 2009 - 8:50 am

Once he indicated he didn’t want to sign then that should have ended it. To keep pushing is to risk exactly what happened. I feel the same toward this pushy guy as I do toward the scum Paparazzi.

robbreid   December 25th, 2009 - 8:54 am

The fact this guy is waiting at the door and is aware James Cameron is coming, the fact there is someone filming already, and he somehow doesn’t notice or look at the camera, the fact it is on TMZ, clearly points to me this is not an average fan like you an I. This is either a set up, just to get any type of reaction, so to film it, or unlikely a professional autograph seeker. Being a TMZ posted video speaks for itself.

Jeff fromTO   December 25th, 2009 - 9:04 am

i don’t know anyone who has seen the film. it looks like boring dribble with an overused plot and stolen ideas.

Charles   December 25th, 2009 - 9:10 am

Another reason I am not going to see this movie….plus the leftist bs that is in it. Why I dont really care anything about Hollywood or those who live there.

jake   December 25th, 2009 - 9:18 am

The guy was no fan. He is a professional that is going to sell the autograph. He shows up at everything with his little person of the world speech. He is full of crap! Go Cameron!

steve   December 25th, 2009 - 9:32 am

Maybe he’s pissed that Alvin will be number one this week.

James Cameron   December 25th, 2009 - 9:45 am

“I’m prick of the world!!”

(Too bad the autograph seeker didn’t use the opportunity for a head shot.)

rjross   December 25th, 2009 - 9:46 am

I actually thought I might go and see this movie but I won’t now. What an arrogant p___k.

Disabled Vet   December 25th, 2009 - 9:58 am

Lost in all this, and I’m quite surprised that no one in the media has commented on it yet, is the fact that the bad guys in his movie are the US Marines.
And, by the end of the movie we’re led to root against them. How can you root against the Marines? This ruined the movie for me.
If only he could have created a scenerio where the Marines partnered with the natives to fight a common enemy. The movie would then have a much greater appeal. But this elitist would never get this.

Talk about wearing your leftist badge on your sleeve…

Fred   December 25th, 2009 - 10:05 am

Well, there’s one less movie on my list to go see…..

Kiss my ass Cameron, you egotistical prick.

Talen   December 25th, 2009 - 10:06 am

The video cuts out a lot. We don’t see what happened between when they first meet coming out the door, till when he’s standing waiting for a ride. They guy probably was hounding and working Cameron up during that time.

Fred   December 25th, 2009 - 10:22 am

Well, scratch that movie off my must see list….

You can kiss mine Cameron, you egotistical dick.

Stan   December 25th, 2009 - 10:25 am

Normal people don’t ever ask anyone for autographs.
It’s just plain stupid.

Bart   December 25th, 2009 - 10:32 am

Stan, I’ll be sure to tell that to the next kid I see looking for a baseball player’s autograph.

Kyle   December 25th, 2009 - 10:34 am

Too bad the guy didn’t punch Cameron’s lights out.

Hestinks   December 25th, 2009 - 10:38 am

These autograph guys work celebrities constantly. They are not fans. Cameron was completely in the right to blow the guy off.

katy   December 25th, 2009 - 10:40 am

Love the way the guy kept belittling Cameron. Oh Yah. We need more people teaching these arrogant buffoons a little reality.

Of course….every American waiting for the movie to come out on DVD would have had a bigger impact… :0)

Voice of Reason   December 25th, 2009 - 10:56 am

OK, I’m going to let everyone here on a secret – this was a PROFESSIONAL autograph hound not a normal fan – being a normal fan would still get the same reaction but we’ll get to that in a second.

1. knew Cameron’s flight & airport in advance
2. had “product” waiting to be signed in advance
3. had friend with camera filming in advance
4. when told “no” proceeds to follow him to waiting car
5. when repeatedly told no, starts an argument

These are the earmarks of a professional – not your average moviegoer who happens to see Cameron walking thru the airport, runs up and asks for an autograph. James Cameron has been known as an arrogant, control freak ass*ole for well over 20 years. Even IF you were just an average joe who walked up to him on the street and asked for a photo with him you would get the same reaction. This is how he has always been.

That being said – this was set up by TMZ to get exactly this kind of reaction. They knew he would say no and wanted to get him on film saying so.

The fact that the guy hounded him then insulted him proves it

Kristi   December 25th, 2009 - 10:58 am

Cameron could have EASILY signed an autograph. It would have taken 1 minute..and he could have been done with it.

It is we..the little people who make Producers in Hollywood RICH..Not anyone else. If the movies are flops they dont make any $$$. Because we dont go and see them.

Cameron has an EGO, Attitude and Foul Mouth. And of course as for the person asking for his autograph, He should have just walked away after he refused.. SO , instead he pursued it, and of course got what he was asking for..OR perhaps he didnt think that it would turn out to be a Name calling Curse Fest.

Dave, Tn   December 25th, 2009 - 11:02 am

So when will someone make a parody/remix of this movie where the imperialist are the leftist from LA NY and DC (the axis of evil) and the planet they’re raping and corrupting is America? What’s that old saying about knowing them by their fruits? Yep imperialist swine to me. bahahhahaa

Barry   December 25th, 2009 - 11:23 am

IF YOU LIVED IN LOS ANGELES……. You would see PEOPLE like this guy asking for celebs to SIGN Shit so they can SELL IT. Its very common! I would have done th same thing! James Cameron is HUMANLike the rest… and does NOT owe ANYONE an autograph…. especially at LAX trying to get home.

Pete   December 25th, 2009 - 11:41 am

When I first read the title to this, I thought that Cameron was being his usual prick self. But after watching, I know that had I been in Cameron’s place, I would have punched the autograph seeker.

Industrious Ass   December 25th, 2009 - 11:42 am

Awww. Dork can’t get an autograph to hawk on eBay. Boo hoo.

who cares?   December 25th, 2009 - 11:45 am

Why do people want autographs, I don’t understand it.

Oh wow, I was this close to someone I don’t know, now we are, WHAT, RELATED?

But, then again I haven’t gone to a movie since the 70’s.

RobertB   December 25th, 2009 - 12:06 pm

I don’t like Cameron, but he said “No” and the jerk kept hounding him. Some celebrities give out autographs to fans, some don’t. Some do but occasionally they don’t have time to (like when they’re getting off a plane and rushing to an event or something). Obviously the phony autograph seeker was trying to get Cameron to lose his temper so he could sell the video to TMZ. And to the people whining about how he “owes” something to the little people who make him rich – no he doesn’t. He’s sells a product. You buy it. That’s it.

MERRY CHRISTMAS!

Lynn   December 25th, 2009 - 12:28 pm

Stop paying your money to support these people in hollywood. They have their jobs because of the little people. Same way with government. Stop re-electing these people. don’t support these two parties by sending them money. Cameron is just laughing all the way to the bank. Stop paying for his luxuary and he will have to get a real job.

Eddie   December 25th, 2009 - 12:49 pm

1. Cameron is an a$$hole

2. The autograph seeker is an a$$hole.

3. I’m actually sorry I paid to see a$$hole #1’s new movie now.

Liberal Moon Bats   December 25th, 2009 - 12:57 pm

Any movie that paints Marines as the bad guys should not be seen. But then one should expect that out of a liberal moon bat like Cameron.

L.N. Smithee   December 25th, 2009 - 12:58 pm

I was with the autograph-seeker at first. Even if you decline to sign something, you shouldn’t use profanity to fans apropos of nothing. Then came the last part, when the guy started slamming the movie. That exposed him; seconds earlier he claimed he wanted the autograph because he “admired” Cameron. The dude probably was just sore because he had already spent the money for selling the autograph in his own mind, and his plans went up in smoke.

Gandhi's Fist   December 25th, 2009 - 1:01 pm

Have not seen his movie and will not. Also haven’t seen Titanic (I know how it ends–duh, the boat sinks). IMHO who cares about spectacle? Story, plot and sans propaganda story telling is what I’m looking for. Cameron’s bluster is simply compensation for what he recognizes in himself, which is, that once the effects are stripped away from his efforts, they’re middling at best. Cameron is insecure. Wanna see a good film–try, “Precious” or almost anything made by Kubrick, Hitch or Fritz Lang.

Wonderliq   December 25th, 2009 - 1:05 pm

Typical Hollywood elitist, how is that hope and change working out for the people who pay to see the propaganda?…. Paul Joseph Goebbels would be proud….

Kindersjoy   December 25th, 2009 - 1:48 pm

J. Cameron is an asshole. doesnt matter is the autograph prick was a set up ,,he could have been you or me…. Anyone who would diss the US marines is a hack and an evil snake and an America hater… he needs to go live in Iraq or Afghanistan with the Taliban or please just anywhere out of our Blessed united States. America needs to start really teaching the Elitists and America haters of Hollywood..Babs Streisand, suddenly single Susan Sarandon,Danny Glover that famous lover of Hugo Chavez, Sean put a penn up yours,Oprah theres more than one way to get to heaven( Oh Yeah?) windfried,
Alec Baldloser,All of those that see America as an oppressor you are all idiots and fools and really not worthy of respect nor even this pithy paragraph Stop going to and supporting their anti American philosophies.

JB   December 25th, 2009 - 2:24 pm

I met a sound mixer a few months back that worked with Cameron way back on the first Terminator movie. He said he was a pr*@#, ahem, I mean prince back then too.

TV2112   December 25th, 2009 - 2:44 pm

Seems Avatar is almost identical plot-line and theme of Battle for Terra. Same thing…Humans are bad warmongers…aliens peaceful and good. This just made me decide to skip the theatre and wait 3 months for a rental.

Guy Average   December 25th, 2009 - 3:27 pm

I haven’t gone to movies for years. This video further justifies that decision.

dwroberts   December 25th, 2009 - 3:48 pm

Good thing Cameron’s not a black rapper. His entourage of jailhouse thugs would have left the autograph hound lying in a bloody, crumpled mess on the sidewalk.

Yes, Cameron is a jerk. The autograph hound is a jerk. This is what you get when you glorify people who make billions of dollars play-acting. Sorry, movie fanatics. Your gods are generally less human than you are.

Isn’t it odd how they want to save the world, even though they can’t be decent to their own neighbors.

Rose   December 25th, 2009 - 4:16 pm

Well, he could have written “You are an asshole, and I don’t owe you an autograph” and signed it anyway – at least turned it into a joke.

This is really surprising – even if the autograph hunter was a jerk – it’s just basic human kindness, and at the end of his life, would he really have lost anything of he stopped to do a simple thing like sign an autograph? No. In the end, he will wish he had appreciated his fans a bit more.

I’m a conservative, and I’m siding with Mr. Cameron. These leeches stalk
celebrities to get autographs and pictures to sell on Ebay, not keep them. It’s
an entire industry of people who wait outside houses and apartments of famous
people not to talk to them, but to get a piece of them to sell. It’s grotesque.
If this guy was a real fan who wanted an autograph he wouldn’t have persisted
with the heckling. Anyway, what grown person goes around asking for autographs?
That’s a kid’s game.

First of all anyone who would see this movie after watching this clip is dumb beyond words. Why support a man who would call a supporter an asshole. Cameron is a disgrace. I bet he things Roman Polanski should be free also. These self absorbed Hollywood types need a little humility. Hopefully he will see that in the next few years when Obama crashes the economy and no one goes to the movies.

Nattylite   December 25th, 2009 - 9:33 pm

Both were out of line. Being former Army infantry, I find it distasteful to malign the Marines. First in, last out. Cameron should spend a week in infantry bootcamp, actually participating in the daily routine. I wont watch the movie or buy the dvd. Liberal movie producers/directors kill brain cells of sensible people.

kitelite   December 26th, 2009 - 12:07 am

Anyone who contributes to Camerons wealth is contributing to his attitude. I haven’t been to a theater in decades. I refuse to increase these so called artist income. If Cameron didn’t want to be recognized there are alternative ways to leave an airport. This guy was, is and always will be a big self serving a-hole.

1984   December 26th, 2009 - 3:10 pm

Liberal vs Liberal. What a hoot. some guy pays a few bucks to see a movie and figures that the director, producer, writer owes him an autograph. And when Cameron quite ungraciously refuses? the guy says his movie is no good. why did he want his autograph? if the movie sucked? Although the movie does have some tree hugging liberal themes… it was still brilliant entertainment. I saw it twice the first week… spent far more than $15 dollars and still believes that Camerton owes me nothing. He made a movie and I paid to see it. Why do liberals think there swhould be more to this?

AnimalFarm   December 26th, 2009 - 3:14 pm

Nattylite .. you are wrong about the plot… the HERO of the movie was a Marine… the others were Mercs. Some perhaps were X-Marines ( like the colonel) but most were just societal dregs.

Barbie   December 27th, 2009 - 1:08 am

Here’s to you, James Cameron, and your upcoming Oscars! It was a striking film — the animation, the imagination, the beauty! I have met Mr. Cameron several times at Best Friends Animal Sanctuary functions in Los Angeles, and he is one of the kindest, most prolific and giving people you could imagine! Private businesses have a ‘right’ to refuse service to unruly or rude customers; Mr. Cameron has every ‘right’ to refuse an autograph for the same reasons, especially to pro signature seekers who are looking for a buck in the deal. Mr. Cameron’s interest and care for the animals of Best Friends Sanctuary is legendary…he puts his money where his mouth is. Take if from someone who knows this man: stop your useless rants and find out about what he REALLY does!

Thought I’d clear up some of the misleading comments on this forum. Though the media has tried to play up the liberal message/marine bashing angle, if you really paid attention in the movie you would see that he is not really bashing the marines because:
1. Not everybody involved in the project was a former marine.
2. In every army, there are bad seeds who enjoy fighting, and use unnecessary force. This is a reality that holds true even in the U.S. military (ever heard of Guantanamo Bay).
3. The key here is that these guys were not patriots serving their country, these were the guys who enjoyed their guns and pledged their allegiance to a big money corporation so that they could carry on with their gung-ho lifestyle.
4. The corporation was MULTI-NATIONAL. Even though most of the people talked with an American accent, not everybody there was American (and thus not everyone was a marine).
5. The scary thing is that these corporate mercenaries exist in the real world. The U.S. dealt with major international scrutiny for hiring Blackwater (essentially a guns-for-hire organization fighting for a paycheck instead of patriotism), which committed heinous crimes in the Middle East. SOME-not all-of the people working for Blackwater were undoubtedly Americans formerly in the U.S. military (Blackwater consists of people from all over the world). Thus I see the militants in Avatar as symbols NOT of the US MARINES, but of gun-for-hire groups like Blackwater, that commit atrocities that harm innocent people in the places they are working.

Haha That fan is a jerk. Cameron obviously just came off a plane, he probably has jet lag. It’s not Cameron’s fault that the ‘fan’ only makes 15 bucks an hour. One hour of work for a three hour movie — sounds like a pretty good trade-off. Cameron was right too, he didn’t owe that guy a signature. The guy payed 15 bucks for a movie, not a signature. That ‘fan’ just has an entitlement problem, and a pretty big chip on his shoulder.
