Ventura is right on. In the low southern cal area alone we have five or six armed checkpoints. I think Ventura took too many chair shots. For those that are asking “what happened” prior to the point where Jessie walked out, there was a heated debate over which flavor of marmalade goes best on an English Muffin.

Howard would NEVER have the balls to get confrontational with any guest like Opie, Anthony, or Jimmy do. The entire segment was an absolutely riveting piece of radio – real people talking about real issues, not afraid of speaking their minds. Unfortunately Mr. Ventura came across as one, who when pressed, doesn’t have much substance and cant talk an opposing opinion.

sorry but based on THIS CLIP and i admit i have not heard the entire interview, Jesse handled himself well while Jimmy was a rude and offensive jerk.

In example, Jimmy repeatedly put words into Jesse’s mouth. Jimmy was repeatedly loud and on the edge of yelling while Gov Ventura was calm… notice his voice did not fluctuate much, it is strong but he did not increase pace or volume much.
At the end, Jimmy suggested that the Governor was trying to physically dominate him at best and threaten him at worst…there was no evidence of that from this video.

I am NOT a fan of this particular Governor as I think he took being a “maveric” to an unworkable extreme but his actions on THIS VIDEO were calm, and controlled.

I don’t know the rest of his opinions and really don’t care as he is pretty much a null entity on the public stage at this point. but he handled himself well in this venue. I actually wish MORE folks would simply get up and walk out rather than regress to name calling and silly rhetoric. it is better to let your opponent look like a fool and leave than to join him in the party/

You are absolutely correct in your assessment of “Governor Back-Peddle” I’ve lived in Minnesota for 52 years(all my life). He is a very thin-skinned loud-mouthed bully, who can’t stand to be disagreed with!
I used to enjoy listening to him when he had his morning talk-show on KSTP in the cities. The best 7-8 minuets on radio, was when Babs came in at the end of his show, and those two went at it. Hilarious stuff.

He used to just give the local politicians “the business”, then he became one, and when the criticism started flowing his way, by way of Jason Lewis, he got all testy and started crying like a baby.

What really got him, was when it was revealed that his snot-nosed brat kid used the governor’s mansion as a party house, and the media called him on it.

Please, Governor Back-Peddle, just take the Mrs back to your shack in Mexico, and stay there.

Thank goodness we live in a country where a debate such as this can be had on satellite radio. When someone is unable to sit down and listen on either side of the debate without name calling it illustrates their limited intelligence. Unfortunately, there are times when the only way to speak to some people is to use language that they understand. Mr. Ventura proved that he was not there to have a dialogue more so than spout his political views of how the government has had a vast conspiracy against it’s people and that only those who have had the priviledge to serve in the military would understand what Patriotism truly is. Unfortunately, he is sadly mistaken. We can all be Patriots and can have differing opinions and still be Americans. We do not have to intimidate, nor name call, nor walk out on someone who challenges us after they have spent the greater part of half an hour seeking to understand our point of view. Having the ability to form opinions and have a discourse of ideas is one of the greatest gifts that our great Constitution has afforded us. God Bless this country.

First, neither “argued” well.

On Ventura’s use of “in the military”… that was completely inappropriate – due to the context of when he brought it up AND the logic of his position. Im retired military, some in Special Operations, so if Ventura wants to argue about that point from the “military” level/perspective, Im more than happy to do so. BUT it completely degrades the military, and service to country, when military folks play the “in the military card” in appropriately. ITS NO DIFFERENT THAN THE BLACKS WHO PLAY THE RACE CARD. Because of such behavior, Im rapidly losing any respect for Ventura.

Jesse Ventura otherwise known as Jim Janos was in UDT 12. He was a frogman or underwater demolitions team. HE WAS NOT A SEAL. He was never in combat and doesn’t have the combat pin or ribbon. He never went to Vietnam and could not have been a SEAL at the time he was in the Navy from 1969 to 1974. UDT 12 was not combined with the SEAL’s until 1983. He could have volunteered for Vietnam and switched to the SEAL’s but didn’t. He was however a member of the Mongols at the time. The Mongols were and/or are a motorcycle gang and a criminal organization. What a super soldier he was boy howdy.

I listened to the entire interview and Jessie is a pompous a**. First he asserts that the twin towers were brought down with the help of Thermite paint that caused the explosion. Second he also stated when asked why he didn’t run for senate that he left it to fate and flipped a coin. He further said that if he had run he would be the MOST powerful person in office as a liberal as both sides would e wooing him to their side and he could get all his agendas passed by playing sides. So basically if he ran he is assuming he would win and he assume he would then become this powerful entity. Please he deserved what he got.

I used to really like Mr. Ventura, especially given the fact that he’s a Navy SpecOps guy himself. However, he has completely gone off the deep end with his 9/11 conspiratorial mantra, and he seems rather lost in terms of logical guidance and structure. The radio host was correct in challenging him on his contrasting views, BUT, the host himself was truly off putting with his yapping and erratic attitude, as well as his disrespect. Mr. Ventura’s views on the subject at hand are odd to say the least, but the radio host’s attitude was as equally ridiculous.

Ventura is a dull headed bully, and that’s it. He accuses “you guys” as being more than happy to send people to war for any and all reason, twice. An opinion that Ventura formed solely due to the fact that neither Opie, Anthony, or Jim Norton have ever served in the military. He uses this argument any time someone talks about sending the military to flush out al-Qaeda. Jim Norton has to correct Ventura TWICE, to defend himself as not being a war monger. In order to correct Ventura, Jim Norton has to talk over Ventura, because Ventura won’t let Jim Norton get a word in edgewise.

Ventura constantly says something indirectly (shouts down someone who wasn’t in the military talking about his trumpeted up military service), and then has a hissy fit when someone points out that Ventura’s opinion must be that if you didn’t serve in the military, then you cannot have an opinion. Ventura claims that he never said that, but his behaviors speak louder than his actual words.

Ventura then threatens to beat up Jim Norton, someone who he easily could. Why? To what end would that serve? Would that suddenly make Ventura’s arguments have more weight? Would Ventura make the same claim to someone who didn’t have Jim’s physique?

Again, nothing but a dull headed bully.

There is just no way a sane person could defend Ventura’s method of debate. Ventura refuses to answer a question with anything besides a question. He refuses to believe anything other than his own theories (there’s another video clip about his theory on why Bin Laden wasn’t captured when we could have, Jim proposes a counter theory that negated Ventura’s, so Ventura started talking over everyone else about being in the military again).

When did the Gov threaten Norton? Norton is a little gutless weasel. When this came out yesterday, sure it sounded like Jesse was gonna pound him, but when you see it, it shows he just looked at him like Norton was a dog turd.

A point of clarification about Governor Ventura’s service record. He served in the US Navy but not as a SEAL. He was UDT – still dangerous work but not close to the level of the SEALs. Let me put in terms of casualty levels: for every UDT team member killed, there were 34 SEALs killed.
