Next time, let the kid fly the plane!
Call out the trial lawyers and let the donations for the CriminalCrat party flow. We have victims here and plenty of lawsuits. EAT ONE KEEP EM IN CONSTANT CRISIS MEDIA!!!!
It’s kind of off the wall but no one was harmed and no one was put at risk.
The kid did all that without a teleprompter?
I’m guessing an air traffic controller will be on unemployment soon. Harmless i think, but if I was on one of the planes I wouldn’t like it very well. Sort of put their lives at risk, however small. The controller needs 100% of his attention on the screen, and in the air. Not 80% there and 20% on his kid.
I hope no one was texting at the same time.
Whatever Daddy wants to allow his kiddie to do is swell…as long as it is on his clock and as long as unsuspecting lives are not on the line. For Pete’s sake you idiots..grow up..
My dad was a radio engineer, graveyard shift. We were at the transmitter 35 miles out in the boonies. On the weekends my brother and I would go with him.
He would let us read the hourly station ID script.
We were saying what we were supposed to be saying.
The same with ATC, dad was telling the kid what to say.
No harm no foul, but he’ll probably get fired!
THE CHILD WAS NOT CONTROLLING TRAFFIC, THE CHILD WAS SAYING WHAT DAD TOLD HIM TO SAY!
I wouldn’t want a surgeon telling his 7 year old how to place a stent in my heart.
Can’t see the fuss. Hope they guy gets a mild to none on the reprimand. FAA needs to put a procedure in place whereby young people can have that opportunity, including children of operators. It is an excellent recruitment tool.
The pilots were obviously supportive of the kid and the event.
Maybe the guy should get a prize for innovative recruitment practices.
Hey, the kid has as much experience in the control tower as Obama had at anything before he was elected.
Wow, really? This is news? Obviously the child is not directing anything but saying what his parent is telling him, the pilots laughed, which probably relieved some stress thereby improving their attitude and appreciation for life and family. I bet the passengers on those flights even got an extra bag of peanuts that day. Give the paranoia, walking on egg-shell, neurotic society thing a rest, it’s not like he was flying the plane – he was just allowed to tell the pilots that they were “clear for take-off” as though the parent was speaking him/herself. Far more dangerous is the fact that law abiding citizens can’t carry guns on planes (leading to things like 9/11 and two wars in the Middle East). We have a Marxist with a child’s mind in the White House right now, worry about THAT!
Police officers, let your kids make an arrest while you coach them from a few feet away. Surgeons, no problem if you want the daughter to try an appendectomy……it’s JUST people’s lives at stake! MORONS!
Eddie, your examples are not valid because they would put the child’s life in clear and immediate danger as well as the others involved. That is not the case here. The child was not doing anything on his own while being “coached,” he was repeating the exact words he was told to say before the plane even started down the runway. So guess who is the MORON!? Your critical analysis skills are sorely lacking. Do you like apples and oranges? You do a god job of mixing them.

HEY DOLT, A SURGEON DOESN’T DO HIS JOB VERBALLY!
BUT THANKS FOR PROVING YOU ARE A DOLT!
A few days off with pay is all this guy needs. No harm was done and pilot did not seem to mind.
I wouldn’t have allowed my child in there in the first place but that’s me.
… I don’t know why this is such a big deal. I just don’t get it. The pilots clearly didn’t care, and the kid did fine. Probably not something that should happen every day, but this is hardly a cause for concern.
Gonna agree with the last posting, txmike – you did kinda screw the pooch on that analogy.
Regardless, this is a bunch of overhyped nonsense because of a slow news cycle – this isn’t news, hell, it probably wasn’t even dangerous. The kid was just having fun, and I’m sure the ATC (his dad) was in complete control the entire time.
Again, I think it’s ludicrous that this is even news.
Yea, I can see how some might get upset at the mere idea, but when you actually hear what took place it doesn’t seem like it was even possible for anyone’s life to be put in jeopardy, not even remotely dangerous to anyone involved, including passengers.
But, whatever, people get upset over lesser things, so I guess it makes sense this would agitate some.
It’s like the pilot having his kid tell the passengers to keep their feet out of the aisle and the passengers thinking the kid is flying the plane.
No big deal. Verbal reprimand if anything and move on. The pilots weren’t bothered at all and of course the kid was only repeating what his Dad told him to say. No danger was presented and there are real issues to talk about. I’m not shocked at all.
It was harmless, and in fact provided a good source of entertainment. I like it. That kid is awesome.
Breaking News: Voters Let Kid Takeover White House in D.C.
FAA said this is the most egregious violation he has ever seen…….oh, really, what about sleeping in the cockpit or pilots flying drunk……the kids actually did a fine job and spoke perfect English and a lil Spanish…..
Poor judgement by the pilots for not questioning why there is a child on the radio and why a child is giving directions to aircraft at one of the busiest airports in the world.
My point was, what if the kid had mistaken what his dad said to tell the pilot and caused an accident? Sure, it’s a hypothetical situation but I would have been scared as hell if I had been a passenger and knew what was going on. People, this wasn’t family night at Chuck E. Cheese. For God’s sake, this is a federal agency with parent’s letting their kids give out directions from them on aircraft frequencies! I can’t believe some of the comments saying that this is no big deal. Yes, I agree that the sleeping in the cockpit is unbelievable as well and the pilot should be fired but to call THIS “a good source of entertainment”??? “txmike”, I appreciate your comments. Maybe “60 Minutes” could do a segment on juvenile air traffic controllers on Bring Your Kid To Work Day.
Take a powder, Eddie. It wasnt’ a a giant, life endangering infraction.
I wonder who turned this into a news item/reported this to FAA? My sympathies are with the Dad. I hope he cleared the kid’s visit with his superiors, it was a slow day at the controls and the opportunity arose.
That was actually light, fun and enjoyable. No , it was not dangerous or flippant. The media needs to get a heart (desperately) and focus on more worthwhile things. And why should the controller get in trouble? Get some real perspective, please!
I wouldn’t want anyone to get in trouble in today’s work environment, but to look the other way or have an attitude that the headwork of this controller and/or aircrew was acceptable in this situation is only begging for even worse infractions later on. At a bare minimum the complacency in evidence on this tape is a red flag the size of Texas. This should be nipped in the bud with extreme prejudice. In aviation, complacency can kill because in many situations you do not get the luxury of a re do or a mulligan. That should be the attitude of professional controllers and aircrew before their work day begins until after their work day finishes.
Awww, thats so cute. And that father was right there telling him what to say. Give them a break people. Were you ever a kid? I mean really. go find a hobby to occupy your time and leave them alone.

This was not a smart thing to do however, the media is over-blowing the significance of this story. Dad was in control and the pilots didn’t seem to mine!
