In all honesty, the people who are offended by this, whether they be hispanic or not, are only giving their name and heritage a black eye..Italians are proud of the their food, Australians have no problem with bbq’ed shrimp..but taco’s….oh my…those are MEXICAN! I was watching the Olympics a few years ago, a doubles diving competition…after the Mexican team jumped, the announcer said, “and the Mexicans gets a 9.5…”….I thought to myself…that sounds terrible,..but then I realized it wasn’t at all, it sounded “wrong” because we have been conditioned to react that way….They bring that on themselves..

ok, it wasn’t a 9.5….it was a 4.0 but I didn’t want to offend any hispanics. See? Causing me to all lie and stuff..

Rush Limbaugh said that there were elitist left leaning types in Sports Announcing. I guess he was right about that. After all we know the real racists are the Left Leaning folks who think it appropriate to keep people segregated into classes.

You miss the point. Yes, the joke was actually funny and I’m sure not intended as racist or derogatory beyond the context of the moment when made by the announcer. No apology should have been necessary. But if you’re going to make an ethnic joke, then make the joke specific to the ethnic group or nationality.

What the devil does “hispanic” actually mean? There’s no such thing as hispanic heritage or ethnicity. The dude, Juan Pablo is Colombian. Tacos are as much Colombian as Pizza is Korean. There are half a billion people living in Central & South America, many are direct decedents of Europeans (Spanish, Italian, German, etc) many more of other decent, e.g. China, Japan, India. Included in that number or millions of pure indigenous origin or mixed races, e.g. Mulatto & Mestizo. To clump them all together into a single category is none sense. The differences in culture, customs and even language are staggering. An American has more in common with a Canadian than a Mexican has from a Colombian. To deny or argue against that is to demonstrate a phenomenal degree of ignorance.

So rather than having said, “he’s out eating a Taco”, he could have said, “he’s busy drinking agua ardiente” or Colombia’s version of moonshine… which any Colombian will agree, is the national drink (at least in jest)… and would actually be funny being that he’s a professional driver.

He was out looking for some Bistek a la Plancha(Steak) thats what Colombians like. They like mexican too. There is some good Mexican joints in Bogota, but very rare in the country.

I’m a Latino and I wasn’t offended, but Bob Greise showed class in apologizing. We should be way beyond the petty PC bologna but minorities do have sensitivity from perceived past injustice, after all minorities did not come up with the phrase ‘manifest destiny’. Does NASCAR have any black drivers? (I don’t follow the sport.) Imagine Bob Greise saying a black driver out having ‘hog jowls, collard greens and watermelon’? Now that would have been funny!

These type of articles make me even angrier than Obama articles that praise him while he is ripping the country apart. This shows that you cannot even say a person is out having a taco if their native country is known to eat tacos as one of their main meals. It is especially stupid for people to cry Political Correctness when Tacos are eaten in American now by the millions and I would bet the stadium that served his friend served tacos at more than one vendor. The comment is actually a compliment not an insult that the liberals want to turn this into. There was nothing vindictive in anything the reporter said.
