Andrea Mitchell on Resistance to ObamaCare: People ‘May Not Know What’s Good For Them’

"You've got 47% of the people in our NBC/Wall Street Journal opinion poll who have health insurance who don't like what the president is doing. The problem he's got -- 47% of the people who've got coverage don't want change. They don't like what they're hearing. Now, they may not know what's good for them, but the problem is that he always knew he was going to have to persuade people with insurance, that's the largest number, not the people without insurance, for expanded coverage. So they've got a real problem."

Holy Sh*t! I can’t believe the number of stupid people out there that actually believe this health plan would be good for this country. Obama can say anything he wants… It doesn’t mean it is actually going to work. All you have to do is look at his previous plans, yeah, they worked out real well too, didn’t they??

Wonder if she married Alan Greenspan for his money, or the fact that he’s such a studbull?

Obumble is not king. We are not his subjects.

Funny thing is, these idiot reporters think they are immune to this healthcare issue. When people stop going to college to be Dr.s because there is no more money to be made, they will have to wait in line for there Botox and facelifts.

I’m not really even a conservative. But what’s with all these airheads who think that just because a service is government run then it’s good. I’ve attended, and worked at, both public and private universities. And the buracracy at the public institutions is incredibly inefficient. The administration consists of thousands of burocrats who work 3 hours a day 4 days a week.

The public is probably getting cold feet because in countries with public systems they do cut costs, but by restricting benefits. The UK n.i.c.e. has to judge a treatment as cost effective enough before it approves it. With a good private plan in the US it is only safty and effectiveness, medical decisions by the doctor, not actuarial decisions, that are consdered.

kmichaels   July 31st, 2009 - 1:45 pm

This is why drooling leftist lunactic reporters are rock bottom on the ratings. The only way they will survive is a wonderful new incentive program where Obama pays reporters for saying really stupid moronic things in his favor. It is called the “Save Yellow Ranting Lying Journalism Program” and anyone that loves socialism should spread the word.

That is what Liberals are all about, they KNOW for certain, no debate, no if’s and’s or but’s what is good for you. AND if you don’t agree well then your either a ‘dumb redneck’ or ‘neo con’ or ‘racists’ or ‘Nazi’ or ‘republican’ or (and this one they never scream but smugly think it) ‘just not enlightened enough’.

I know of someone who knows what’s good for everyone in his country too, he rules North Korea right now.

President Obama

The Democrats’ proposed national health insurance plan would dictate medications, treatments and mental health services; determine coverages individuals are allowed to have; and operate with real-time access to personal bank accounts, according to a new analysis.

And it’s worse, a critic said, than China’s mandatory one-child policy.

“In the same way that the bill pushes elderly or the sick toward euthanasia, it is a pill that would cause economic suicide,” said Mathew Staver, founder of Liberty Counsel. “It’s a euthanasia bill for America.”

cgray   July 31st, 2009 - 2:18 pm

The Democratic Party hasn’t changed in 200 years. They have always held the “common” man in profound contempt, and they have always displayed a shocking disconnect with the realities of the real world. In 1861 they thought slaves enjoyed their bondage, and that the Union Army would be dispatched in less than three months. Today, they think most Americans would be happy with their pitiful handouts, and that decent, hard-working Americans will simply suffer their fate in silence. I suppose they’ll have to find out the hard way once more.

Thank God we have Andrea Mitchell and the rest of the liberal media telling us what’s good for us. I mean, I can’t function unless they tell me what kind of car to drive, what kind of health insurance I need or what kinds of food to eat. Whew, we idiots have a lot to be thankful for. And we have a messiah to watch over us, too. Who knew life could be so good?

Mitchell is just another shill for Communist Obama! She won’t have to worry about losing her healthcare coverage because she can afford to pay whatever rate is charged when public care drives private insurance companies out of business!

Will Communist Obama being signing himself and his family up for whatever healthcare plan his Communist co-horts come up with? Too bad the American public won’t be given the opportunity to vote on this important legislation! It would be DEFEATED!!!!!!!!!

poetopoet   July 31st, 2009 - 3:12 pm

This is not a racial or a ration issue. At what cost to your mama and papa, even you may be denied hip replacement, etc, etc? Will Obama’s plan deny crack babies care at any of today’s cost? Today estimated at two million dollars for three months of hospital care, per crack baby. Two 2 billion dollars in 1992, in today’s dollars?

‘Crack babies’ catch up

By DANA KENNEDY, The Associated Press, 12/6/92

“The first wave of crack-exposed children entered first and second grades in New York City this fall, a year after one state report estimated the cost of special care for them could total $2 billion over the next 15 years. Harlem Hospital researchers estimated that the cost of caring for crack babies costs the country $500 million a year. Such statistics have fed the kind of fear that led Ross Perot to invoke the dread specter of “crack babies” during the first presidential debate.
“Again and again and again, the mother disappears in three days and the child becomes a ward of the state because he’s permanently and genetically damaged,” Perot said. “

This bill will intrude into every single aspect of a
person’s life and death.

Here’s a link to the bill as currently written:
http://edlabor.house.gov/documents/111/pdf/publications/AAHCA-BillText-071409.pdf

Starting at page 769, it discusses Nurse Home Visit Services aimed at
“increasing birth intervals between pregnancies.” and continues in
that direction as to what sorts of procedures would be allowed, who
would get those procedures, etc. So abortion would most likely be
covered, and what would the coverage be for fertility treatment?

The end of life issues regarding the elderly are starting to get play,
but state control of beginning of life treatments in this bill
should also be examined.

Eileen for Freedom/Liberty   July 31st, 2009 - 5:01 pm

America…first of all…Andrea Mitchell is married to a Bilderberg and former head of the Federal Reserve (the financial arm of the Bilderberg Society) Alan Greenspan. That says alot right there!

Is she saying, America, that we are not smart enough or wise enough to know what is best for us?

She is an elitist idiot who likes to pretend that “she” is a journalist by trade…she is a dolt by trade and is the problem with what is wrong with America today…the press…the “government run” press!

America…the Bilderberg Society are the puppetmasters of their puppet Bilderberg Bush-Obama. The Bilderberg Society is also the club that Andrea Mitchell and Alan Greenspan belong too!

The goal of the Bilderberg Society is to take America down financially through the help of Bilderberg Bush-Obama and the Democratzi to usher in the “New World Order” of which they plan to rule over!

America…get informed…do not be duped by this hypocrisy and evil that has taken over Washington!

We are not dolts, we have minds and we have voices and we have found our voice…and it is crying out against the evil that Andrea Mitchell, Alan Greenspan and Bilderberg Bush-Obama are expressing!

Call daily America…until August 7…after that attend the Town Hall meetings and call their “local” offices!

And don’t forget Ron Paul’s HR 1207 that will “force” the “first” audit of the Federal Reserve. We need to find out what happened to that $70 million/billion that mysteriously disappeared into thin air!

And don’t forget to ask for the “original” birth certiticate, the medical records, the passport and college records…all documentation that will reveal who this fraud is that is occupying our White House.

Did you make your calls today?

Bill   July 31st, 2009 - 5:11 pm

Andrea Mitchell is right, most Americans haven’t even read the 1018 page health care bill, they’re too busy with Jon and Kate. Michael jacksons’ doctor or Brad and Angelina.

Also people with health insurance probably don’t realize the Obama plan will keep them from losing coverage should they get sick by axing the pre-existing condition clause that corporate healthcare uses to kill coverage (and kill the patient).

Gekkobear   July 31st, 2009 - 5:33 pm

I believe this is as good as every piece of condescending unsolicited advice that I get claiming to know better than me what I should do.

So I’ll let Andrea run my health insurance; but I have a load of penny stocks from an unsolicited e-mail to buy first.

I actually have better faith that the penny stocks will work out well.

I may not be pretty enough to be a smartass TV personality pretending to understand society and economics, but I am a 67 year old magna cum laude economics graduate of one of the nations finest universities, and I damn sure know what is good for me, for healthcare insurance terms and costs, and have a great grasp of the potholes in the health delivery systems of our nations. That is more than I can say for our Congress or President.

Mark N.   July 31st, 2009 - 7:56 pm

Geez. My only question is, “How have I gotten along so well THIS far, without anyone from the D.C. beltway telling me how to live my life?” Must be dumb luck.

Fseitz   July 31st, 2009 - 9:35 pm

Listen, Andrea, you dangerous, arrogant, pompus, condescending Elitist, if you’re out to “win the hearts and minds” of American voters and viewers, a good first step would be NOT to tell them that they’re too dumb for their own good and that YOU know better what’s good for them, ……unless, …. you’re out to expedite the Obamedia’s descent into eternal obscurity, …
In which case Americans encourage you, most heartily, to carry on……

We need to chase all Politicians out (repubs and democrats) and instill a Constitutionalist Party that will strictly adhere to the Principles of the Founding Fathers. Give control back to all 50 states and have minimal representation in Washington DC. All Senators and Congressmen will takes jobs using the GS Military Paygrade scale. Start them all off with GS-15. The President and Vice President get GS-20 pay. If it is found that anyone of them are getting any extra money that what is offered them, they get fired for violating the Ethics code. No more deals under the table. If they are married or have children, they get the same treatment as the Military. A GS-15 can live a very comfortable life. They do not need to live extravagant lives sucking down Caviar and $5000 bottles of Champagne. Serving as a Congressman, Senator, Vice President or President should be considered a Honorable Job. If you go against will the people, you get the AXE regardless of term limits.

Shame on this Administration for forcing us into Communism.

In other words Andrea is enlightened because she understands and agrees with stupid obama while those who do not agree simply are not smart enough to know what is best for them so it must be rahmed down their throats whether they want it or not for representatives no longer seek to do the will of their districts but they only seek to suck the dirty rear of oturd just like andrea. How stupid of them.

john   August 2nd, 2009 - 8:35 am

Has anyone noticed that Obama is dividing this country more and more, and has anyone thought why? Think hard on this. Obama knows he will lose both houses next year, so in order to hold supreme power he will make an excuse to call martial law bypassing congress and have his czars then run the country.

MiBu   August 2nd, 2009 - 10:08 am

Hey Mitchell! I have news for you. Whether or not I know what’s good for me is MY business…not yours…not the government’s. I deeply resent the notion that you, the obama person, pelosi and the rest feel they have some claim to my wallet or bank account…that they can raid it whenever they want to dispense money to ACORN or some favorite lobbyist. What you’re doing is UNCONSTITUTIONAL, it’s outside the law, and it’s wrong! This kind of crap is more suited to Chavez’ Venezuela, not a free country. If individual people want to change health care, let them do so. You have no right to use other’s money you haven’t earned, haven’t produced, haven’t worked for. Your hubby, greenspan, was largely (not soley) responsible for the mess the country’s in. Maybe you should talk to him about financing your own health care. Leave the people alone.

Well ain’t that the truth–52% of Americans voted for Obama after all. Americans clearly do not know what’s good for them.

Cajun wizard   August 3rd, 2009 - 3:42 pm

I am not sure why anyone is surprised…Andrea’s sentiment plays along the exact lines of the Obama voter mental aptitude. Does anyone remember a big freeking huricane hitting the Gulf Coast a few years ago. Even with 3 days notice, the typical Obama voter could not get out of the way…unless the government told them what was good for them (to do). I could go on, but most of the readers here get it.

John Hrusovszky   August 3rd, 2009 - 3:56 pm

People may not know what’s good for them?

What part of “We the People” does this woman not understand?
Congresspeople are OUR EMPLOYEES! They are to do OUR WILL!
Why do these elitist left-wing news commentators constatntly
want to ignore that?

Remember back in the 70s, statements were made that we “. . .
will destory your country from within”? Well … look at
what is happening!

John Hrusovszky   August 3rd, 2009 - 4:01 pm

EVERY single concerned citizen should make it a point to attend any and all public meetings of the senators and house members anywhere close to you during this recess and make your voices loudly heard that we are sick to death of being treated like children and them doing what they want instead of what we want. We have the power to vote each and every one of these people out off office and we should darn well do just that to any one of them who vote against our wishes, and, even moreso, who vote on a bill that they have not completely read and understand themselves, no matter what their party affiliation. In every local ‘town hall’ that I’ve seen, one person finally gets the guts to stand up and speak their mind on the crap that is ongong in our country, and they are surprised that a very large part of the audience agree with them and cheer them on.

C’mon, people, lets stand up for our country and show not only the Andrea Mitchells, but also our congresspeople that WE run the show and WE are going to take our country back!
