He dug himself into this hole by his campaign rhetoric of "Iraq bad, Afghanistan good"….and anyone with a brain knew it was campaign rhetoric. Then to appease the left, he announced a pullout date. You can't have success with these conflicting factors.

Bolton is absolutely correct, if he replaces the "we" with "Obama". Obama fails all that is good and decent. Obama doesn't want to win a war against his allies, Al Qaeda and the Taliban. Obama is sending soldiers to their sacrifice to punish our military and to simply to keep things stirred up with Muslims, all part of his keeping the world in crisis so he can maneuver to what he perceives as a higher power at a world body. For those who wonder why we're in Afghanistan, Ambassador Bolton, in his usual, terse and specific manner, outlined the objectives as follows:

1. Prevent Taliban/Al-Queda from controlling Afghanistan
2. Prevent political instability in Afgahnistan from spilling over into Pakistan and posing the possibly that Taliban/Al-Queda forces could topple the government and gain control of its nuclear arsenal.

Reaching these objectives is, according to Ambassador Bolton, the definition of "winning." Ambassador Bolton doesn't list de-corrupting the government as an objective.

Bolton is an American Hero and Afghanistan has become the war to save the Obama Presidency, young men and woman dying based on Obama's disingenuous campaign rhetoric.
Bush was never fool enough to try and pacify Afghanistan that is a fools erand ,his plan was to deconstruct the axis of evil and if we only had the courage to deal with Iran, then No Korea will fall or capitulate on their own and we might well have a chance at a lasting world peace.

Although my understanding for the reasons to invade Afghanistan was to topple the Taliban regime, and capture or kill Bin Laden. Mission accomplished on stage one. Bin Laden, well he isn't in Afghanistan at the moment, he fled into Pakistan. It is also very possible that he could be in Iran. Either way we won;t be able to get him by pussy footing around the poppy fields of Afghanistan, seems rather pointless to me.
