Amazing ‘Spiderman’ Catch in Japanese Baseball League

Masato Akamatsu of the Hiroshima Toyo Carp made an amazing catch Tuesday night with both feet up on the outfield wall and a twisting grab of a home-run ball.

That was a good move!!

EasyEarl10   August 5th, 2010 - 7:21 pm

What I like best is the guy did not do a dance after the catch. Those guys have class.

Peanutzz   August 5th, 2010 - 7:27 pm

My thoughts exactly!!

shane7776   August 5th, 2010 - 7:28 pm

Just doing his job.

cecil91   August 5th, 2010 - 7:37 pm

mugiwara   August 5th, 2010 - 8:18 pm

Nice indeed! Sugoi!

IntenseJena   August 5th, 2010 - 8:54 pm

Goodness what a catch! and he looks like a young school boy! I agree, it;s refreshing that he didn't grandstand, just a shy smile and on with the game.

ElAnneinPA   August 5th, 2010 - 9:08 pm

Probably should be ナイス, but I agree!

TexasStomp   August 5th, 2010 - 9:25 pm

DAT'S why I love Baseball!

wow……just wow. What a cool moment! Even the batter looked impressed, lol! Great team player too.

ElAnneinPA   August 5th, 2010 - 2:27 pm

やったやったーラッキーのキャッチですよ!! ('o')/ 野球選手のスパイダーマンはお上手でボールをキャッチした。 すてきだね♫

(何人もはあたしを分からないでしょう (^^;;) あたしの日本語が苦手よ)

Okay, I'll stop, I'm still studying the language and nobody really understands what I'm saying anyway. ^^; That was one hell of a climb though. The Japanese love to watch baseball as much as we do and have the same passion for it. It's no wonder Japanese players often come to the states to play.

Spoony Nickerson   August 5th, 2010 - 2:34 pm

HGH, and you know it.

Lightrider   August 5th, 2010 - 10:25 pm

Sign him up NOW!!!!

Lightrider   August 5th, 2010 - 10:26 pm

that was one HELL of a catch! Beautiful!!!!

CatOnGlue   August 5th, 2010 - 10:36 pm

Great catch, but I felt like I was watching Sportscenter with a samarai delicatessen voice over.

OPTEKnerd   August 5th, 2010 - 11:48 pm

billy should sign that guy to the A's

dnteatylwsno   August 5th, 2010 - 11:49 pm

I can do that.

Waffen SS   August 5th, 2010 - 6:50 pm

Excellent catch! High class player!

BHO_UMM_UMM_UMM   August 6th, 2010 - 2:38 am

They're good over there. I couldn't see the wires, even on the replays.

Thinker822   August 5th, 2010 - 8:52 pm

Nice catch, notice how robotic his emoptionless response was? It makes you wonder if they truely know how to ENJOY the game or they, as individuals, can appreciate the PERSONAL satisfaction of doing great things as an individial. The guy should have at least raised an arm to the crowd.

Danw13   August 5th, 2010 - 9:03 pm

That's who I was trying to think of, the name just wouldn't come out but there's the other guy who was similar his name was Ozzy Smith?? I know Ozzy is right but the last name escapes me….Great Catch, something that will never be done again not even by him !!!

SuperCat   August 5th, 2010 - 9:25 pm

There are a few who would risk injury, those are the ones you dont forget. Winfields time at the NY Yankees might be the last time I watched them.

ScarySoetoro   August 5th, 2010 - 9:33 pm

Why doesn't it count if he touched the "foul line"? It was a fair ball, no?

ScarySoetoro   August 5th, 2010 - 9:41 pm

私は日本語がわからない、私は大漁を知っている。

iconoclastKM   August 6th, 2010 - 12:26 am

I don't agree.

The dude was simply exibiting modest behavior rather than ostentatiousness.

iconoclastKM   August 6th, 2010 - 12:27 am

Ha!

Good one.

OldmanRick   August 6th, 2010 - 4:15 am

Incredible catch.

eleutheroo1   August 6th, 2010 - 5:03 am

That's nothing special.

RightUnite   August 6th, 2010 - 5:08 am

Lets see you try that one….

SubjectofUSSA   August 6th, 2010 - 6:04 am

Bo Jackson would be proud

Thinker822   August 6th, 2010 - 7:32 am

Maybe, but canned elation isn't exactly what the sport (or any sport) is all about. I'm not saying he should be disrupting the game by doing a dance or backflip but a raised arm to acknowledge the crowd….

I would also add…exibiting "culturally" modest behavior.

iconoclastKM   August 9th, 2010 - 3:20 am

Ok… exibiting "culturally" modest behavior.

Great catch, though!
No two ways about it, huh!
