The American people have downgraded liberal/socialist ideology to junk status. Like S&P, Tea Partiers realize that Ponzi schemes are poor investments and do not make for AAA credit worthiness.

I would appreciate a smackdown from Boehner, Cantor or McConnell. Some leaders they are.
But then, they probably see the Tea party as a bad thing still.
West is 50/50 on any given day and I don't like my politicians to have that sort of record.

I made a similar statement about a week or so ago to that same idea. I have sent many a letter to Cantor (Va) expressing my not so satisfied attitude towards backing the Tea Party or playing both sides of the aisle.

West didn't impress me last week with the debt ceiling debacle. I don't know if he will have the support that he once had prior to those statements made about getting the bill passed.

If Dems wanted the money to fund their voter base – let them vote for it themselves.

Call it the "Democrat Downgrade". Ever since January 2007, when the Dems took control of the House and Senate with Pelosi and Reid, they have done everything in their power to run this country and the economy into the ground. Now all the can do is lie about it. First they blamed Bush, now they blame the Tea Party.

They never passed a 2010 budget even though they controlled the House, Senate, and Presidency. Was that Bush's fault or the Tea Parties fault?

The Dems are livid with anger and fear. They now know how powerful the Tea Party is and are doing everything in their power to smear, lie, and destroy conservatives "If you wound a prince, you must kill him." (Niccolo Machiavelli). The Tea Party and conservatives wounded the Dems in 2010 and now must kill them in the 2012 elections. Vote conservative in 2012!

I thought West was great, and I loved his military analogy. This is a fight to the death – its just not taking place in a combat arena.

I thought Kerry was absolutely loathsome. He is the quintissential politician. I don't know whether he even has any true beliefs – he just says what the party line is, without regard for truth or decency.

I have said since the first time I saw John Kerry that he is one of the bad guys from Scooby Doo! Not to mention one of the dumbest people to ever hold office in the US.

The most skilled politicians are the ones who are best at taking credit for the good that others do, while shifting the blame for the damage THEY do onto others.For example, look how Bill Clinton and his supporters now take credit for the balanced budget and welfare reform that Gingrich forced upon him. The only good thing Obama did was kill Bin Laden so he talks like he was a member of Seal Team 6. Everything else, he tries like heck to blame someone else. It's been hard to blame the GOP for the Porkulus and Obamacare since not a single GOP congressman voted for it. The libs are now desparately trying to pull the GOP into the libs' own economic mess by blaming them for the current S&P downgrade. The libs can't fix what they broke, so they want to run the 2012 campaign as "hey, both parties stink so you might as well vote for us."

Dear President Obama and Secretary Treasurer Geithner, and John Kerry;

If all of you had spent as much effort trying to undo the damage you have caused rather then by fecklessly maligning and misrepresenting those in the TEA Party (Who are really just trying to reform the Republican Party) our problems would be well on there way to being solved. Mr. Geithner you’ve said that we “own the credit rating.” That is absolute malarky, and you know it. Had you spent your time advocating for a pro growth economic policy, a firm currency, and higher interest rates; our XXXX hard politicians, would have been marginally constrained. But, no, that was not to be. You’ve got a good thing going. Why XXXX it? All you had to do was keep the scam going just long enough to line the pockets of your liberal Wall Street friends with more funny money for bozo the banker to play with. XXXX you.

Mr. Obama you took a very simple oath of office. “I do solemnly swear that I will faithfully execute the office of President of the United States, and to the best of my ability, preserve, protect and defend the Constitution of the United States.” I reckon this is a tall order for a fellow like you, but the moment you accepted that oath and swore to it, you were and are responsible, for every decision that came after it. From that moment on you had the power to end wars, order prison camps closed, or to not spend money that an out of control Congress had already allocated. Not to mention “Obamacare.” If we couldn’t pay for it with a AAA rating do you think we will be able to pay for it with a AA+ rating? We can’t afford what we have now why do people of your ilk only know one word, “more,” and you call us infants. Nut’s to that.

Mr. Kerry you are a poster child for our current state of affairs. You’ve been in government almost since Jesus walked the earth and you have the gall to go on television and tell us, the “moms and dads” of America, the people that make this nation hum everyday without so much as a thank you, the people that clean your boat and make sure that no one steals it, you have the Mount Everest sized gall to tell us that we are the problem? Mr. Kerry, you are a sitting United States Senator, all we can do is vote, you sir, have written the laws and the bills that have brought us to this precipice and have once again pushed us off of it with the willing help of President Obama. Mr. Kerry I only hope that one day you are made to feel the pain you are causing families all across this nation.

1. S&P made it clear that they don't perceive a lack of money to pay our bills as being a reason for the downgrade.

2. S&P also made it clear that the inability of government to come up with a reasonable plan was the reason for the downgrade.

3. Throughout recent history, the U.S. has embarked on deficit spending and taken care of it through debt limit increases, spending cuts, and tax hikes, without ever coming to a crisis like the one we just had.

4. The thing that changed this year is the Tea Party. Without them, Congress would have taken appropriate action to both reduce spending and increase revenue, which would have avoided the downgrade.

5. The Tea Party is the ONLY thing that stood in the way of a reasonable compromise. And, as a result of their actions, reductions in spending are actually LESS than they could have been.

The Tea Party OWNS this one. And their refusal to take ownership shows exactly how screwed up they are. They have no interest whatever in taking the country forward – they just want everybody to live by their version of Sharia Law.

West voted for the debt ceiling increase by reason of politics. Heavy pressure that the "US will default" and Tea Party congressmen were holding the country hostage in a Jihad / terror choke hold. West stated he was reluctantly going along to prevent a major economic debacle. Not an economist, what intellectual tools does he have to determine whether this was true or not? As a result Mr. West voted the way he did. Only one member of the GOP is an economist, and he stated there would be no default. That is one person out of 535. Is it any wonder the only voice of reason was drowned out?

The downgrade was telegraphed for at least 20 years. However, debt was $8.5 Trillion when Democrats took control of the House and Senate is $14.7 now. That's six billion from January 2007 to July 2011. A new normal was established, spending up from $2.8 Trillion to $3.8 trillion – some $10 trillion of new outlay in a decade. Democrats absolutely refuse to cut this back to a level consistent with inflation and population growth. S&P notes this political situation in its downgrade. One side will not give on the gains it has established – a small number of Congressional Tea Party members revolted 25 to 34 voting yes in the final vote, and they are blamed? This is a PROGRESSIVE downgrade pure and simple. Today's market reaction shows one side was correct – the lone economist, and the entire progressive establishment wrong. There is no balance and compromise with absolutely wrong. The wrong side has to go before any negotiation can go forward.

So you seriously wanted the government to stop paying almost half of it's bills? Or maybe lay off a portion of the workforce down to bare bones and still pay only 75% of it's bills? Or quit paying troops? Or stop paying Social Security payments that people had paid into their entire lives? Or just leave all of the government buildings and parks vacant to be looted by those who aren't getting their checks? We have a huge problem with a bloated government that needs to be pared back. We need to quit paying people not to work. We need to cut litigation, regulation, and bureaucracy and eliminate whole agencies. What we don't want to do is collapse the system overnight by suddenly shutting off the spigot with no glide path down to a reasonable government. I am simply pointing out facts.) The conservatives in the House wanted to pass a bill that cut nearly $4 trillion off the budget. According to S&P, a $4 trillion cut would have saved a downgrade. Or will you show some integrity and admit that the left blaming the Tea Party is nothing more than them deflecting the blame from themselves?

And tell me what proposal from Sen. Reid would have saved a downgrade? What was Oabam's proposal that would have save S&P from downgrading us?

The cut cap and balance thing was a lot more than just a spending reduction. It also included that pesky balanced budget amendment (remember that?). S&P vigorosly pooh-poohed that idea, for the obvious reson that it cuts government's flexibility in responding to changing conditions.The S&P spokesman also pointed out (correctly) that Congress has always had a difficult time trying to regulate itself into some future action. In other words, teh balanced budget amendment would become just an inconvenient hole in the road to future deficits. Kind of like the constituitonal provision that Congress has to declare war.If the Tea Party had been interested in avoiding a crisis and a downgrade, they would have accepted the 3+1 deal that Obama and Boehner had worked out. But that would have been a violation of their religious commitment to no new taxes, which is exactly why S&P downgraded us. Nobody in the real world thinks we can solve our debt problems by continuing to cut revenues.What they got for their efforts were spending reductions that are a lot less than they could have gotten with the Boehner / Obama plan. Mr. West voted for the debt ceiling to be raised. He caved to RINO's and will again. He could have stood his ground as the other TP congressman did. Steve Southerland who is my congressional representative, 2nd District, Florida did not cave in and he did vote NO. Steve is taking heat now and did then. Why would 1 TP member cave and 64 not. That is because Mr. West is all mouth. He talks bayonets and charging the hill and all the right words. When the chips were on the line he folder like a U-Haul box. If a member of the House was AGAINST "Cut, Cap and Balance", made sure as much as he could that it did not succeed, then voted FOR raising the debt ceiling, was in the tank with Boehner & Company and later make insulting, disparaging – derogatory remarks against fiscal conservatives, starting with the Tea Party, further and post facto of his vote FOR, criticized those who voted FOR raising the debt ceiling and its net impact while it is playing out but conveniently OMITTED himself – even going so far as to proclaim himself as being fiscally conservative……………….., would that person, objectively speaking, be a true conservative (not to mention honest and trustworthy) and worthy of being voted back into power? Or, would he not in fact be a lying, fraudulent, scheming subversive?
