Abuse of the Bronze: Risque Pictures Send US Snowboard Medalist Home Early

TMZ: Scotty Lago apologized to the U.S. Olympic Committee and the U.S. Ski and Snowboard Association after we posted the photo -- taken on a public street with a crowd of people watching -- before volunteering to go home.

Editor's note: The photos can be seen in the related link below.

Snowboarders. Figures. This generation is filled with a bunch that’s the worst ever thanks to MTV, the internet, a total lack of values and poor parenting. Did I mention poor parenting?

Angry Xgen'er   February 20th, 2010 - 8:49 am

Hmm, poor parenting ?

Let me review the last 60 years — Seems we have generations of Americans, that have had poor parenting.

Why did he go home early, voluntarily ? Must have known that his intent was not upstanding.

That shows a conscience !

regdwight   February 20th, 2010 - 8:53 am

NBC reports Olympic officials will give out 100,000 condoms for an average of 14 acts of fornication per athlete. So, if the girl kisses his ski pole it’s cool. If she kisses his medal he goes home. What a mob of reprobates!

Tcat   February 20th, 2010 - 9:27 am

I think the snowboarders need to show some more respect. They are not representing themselves but the USA. The coaches need to act more mature also. Congratulations Shaun White great job. But we could have done without the foul language mfrom you and the coaches.

quinn   February 20th, 2010 - 9:43 am

Americains, so clean on the outside, so pervert on the other side : look at your Goldman Sachs “bank” !!

jujubee   February 20th, 2010 - 9:53 am

Anything to shock those youtubers for attention.

The decline of society is in full swing. Yay liberalism!

Snailmailtrucker   February 20th, 2010 - 10:01 am

You can’t teach your kids CLASS if you don’t have any yourself!

Guest   February 20th, 2010 - 10:19 am

Once rap got connected with snowboarding, it went quickly downhill – no pun intended :)
Many of these people are simply showoffs, not athletes and certainly not professionals in the classic olympic style.
Like basketball, once rap infects the sport, it’s all over. What’s next? Guns.

Angry Xgen'er   February 20th, 2010 - 10:21 am

So a friend of his kisses his medal.

Seems mild.

Maybe I don’t see the whole picture.

Ellie Light   February 20th, 2010 - 10:22 am

Snowboarding competition is not about true skill, it’s about who is the most daring – which is not sport, but stupidity.

SubjectofUSSA   February 20th, 2010 - 10:38 am

This is stupid, work your ass off for four years or more, and you’re not even allowed to have a little fun. All the idiots criticizing this probably haven’t worked this hard for anything in their lives. Who cares if they have a good time while they are there.

When virtue is "nerdy" your society is about to collapse   February 20th, 2010 - 10:44 am

We don’t need another election in this country, we need another Great Awakening. Short of that, we’re doomed – bank on it.

SubjectofPostmodernism   February 20th, 2010 - 10:51 am

SubjectofUSSA, they are not there for themselves, but as representatives of the U.S.A. It is supposed to be a self-sacrificial path the athlete chooses out of love for his/her country’s image and honor… well, that’s the way it used to be. Apparently everything is “me, me, me” “fun is the ultimate virtue” and “who cares?” these days. Well, I care. Are we that desperate for “gold metal” that we need to tarnish our real mettle. Send him home until he learns to conduct himself properly in public, especially while representing this “city on a hill.” What does it profit a country is they gain the gold, yet forfeit their soul and honor?

Pups McCann   February 20th, 2010 - 10:52 am

He won the medal fair and square, the medal is a medal, abuse of the medal? Get a life, who gives a dam what he does with the piece of bronze.

LoneSurvivor   February 20th, 2010 - 11:18 am

Wheeeww! At least it wasn’t the US Olympic belly button lint-picking team!

The live-by-the internet youth in this country seem to be too dense to the fact they usually end up pretty much dying by the internet exposure.

SubjectofPostmodernism   February 20th, 2010 - 11:22 am

sorry “medal”

Allentown   February 20th, 2010 - 11:27 am

Immature f1lth – even has a tatto – in an immature sport – what do you expect. This event attracts human debris.

frank   February 20th, 2010 - 11:39 am

This so called sport should have been left where it really belongs, the X games or whatever they are called. But, hey, the Olympics has long ago stopped representing true sportsmanship. The Russians, Chinese, Romanians, and the whole lot of the “iron curtain” countries have been cheating since I can remember. Who can forget the 1972 basketball final when the spineless refs gave the USSR almost 10 seconds more to beat us. Olympic boxing? This has been a total sham. Any sport that relies on “judging” is a farce. I am glad I am not watching this crap.

Tom   February 20th, 2010 - 12:09 pm

These snowboarders are nothing more than those loser kids who have been skatebaording around our neighborhoods for years now. They just happened to find snow. Why does the overall behavior from this group surprise us. Without these sports being in the Olympics these kids would asking “do you want fries with that” for $7/hr. The U.S. Winter Olympic commitee should make viewing an hour documentary on the Mahre brothers required so these punk kids could learn how to act!

Aleck   February 20th, 2010 - 12:36 pm

Quinn, your perversion is not hidden….

anon   February 20th, 2010 - 12:39 pm

We’re all so high and mighty here this morning.

Tom   February 20th, 2010 - 12:41 pm

from scotty.flow.com “Yo, my name is Scotty Lago and I ride snowboards for a living…….I’ve been shredding it since I was 7…..I like to hunt fish and mostly hang out with my hommies…..” Nice rap music in the background too……When did Seabrook NH bacome the hood? This guy is a typical snowboarding loser. Does anyone know of nice ski resort in the U.S. that bans these idiots.

Barbarians around Rome   February 20th, 2010 - 1:57 pm

This isn’t just a problem in America, it is a problem nearly everywhere in the world. Our 1000 meter gold medal speed skater didn’t even put his hand on his heart during the playing of the national anthem. I say rip the medal off his neck and tell him he is an embarrassment to his country. Just like this snowboarder, rip his medal off his neck too! Learn some manners young people because you really do look like a sub culture. You all act like the barbarians Rome built walls to keep out.

amyloo   February 20th, 2010 - 2:34 pm

oh for pete’s sake, he’s an Olympian … didn’t hurt anybody or cheat … leave him alone.

Tom   February 20th, 2010 - 3:07 pm

exactly, he’s an Olympian….ACT LIKE ONE!

SubjectofUSSA   February 20th, 2010 - 3:14 pm

Good thing you all aren’t worried about jobs or the economy, too busy getting pissed off at Olympians and Millionares who use the now banned R word

Get a life people, not everyone takes everything as seriously as you. And yes I’m a conservative.

Eddie   February 20th, 2010 - 3:31 pm

I never understood how X Games sports made it into the Olympics anyway. I suppose stunts on dirt bikes will be introduced for the Summer Games? How about skateboard stunts on Olympic certified handrails? Sheesh!

Bill   February 20th, 2010 - 3:49 pm

Wonderful! Check out the pothead Canadian Robligati snowboarder who was busted in a previous Olympics. He is now running as a liberal candidate in British Columbia. This American dude has a future.

SubjectofUSSA   February 20th, 2010 - 4:40 pm

100,000 condoms in the Olympic Village, hope you moralfags are outraged at that as much as this

Thor   February 20th, 2010 - 5:52 pm

Punk.

mojo   February 20th, 2010 - 5:58 pm

Wonder what you get if you actually win a Gold medal?

ooopsie   February 20th, 2010 - 6:21 pm

I bet this never would have happened to an Olympic Men’s figure skater!

Boarders=Punks   February 20th, 2010 - 7:21 pm

Snowboarders are a joke. They act like the punks who hang around the mall with their skateboards. Most are airheads who took their skateboards to the mountains, smoked some weed and thats how snowboarding was born. ” Dude grab your skateboard and some tools and I’ll show you how we can go down the mountain without learning how to ski. Don’t forget the weed.”

whatwhatwhat   February 20th, 2010 - 9:22 pm

Terrible isn’t it? We need good old fashioned values like when Babe Ruth was in his heyday! You don’t see values like that anymore.

BigMac   February 20th, 2010 - 9:45 pm

Ohhh, he’s from Seabrook, NH? That explains everything.
It’s why the built a nuke there – a strange, strange town.

He WAS representing his country in the Olympics. He could have showed some class. The world already looks at us with a magnifying glass, we don’t need a punk like him adding to the illusion that we’re all D-Bs.

You idiots who say “So what?” are either too young to understand or just as ignorant.

Angry Xgen’er:
“So a friend of his kisses his medal.

Seems mild.

Maybe I don’t see the whole picture.”

We’re not surprised. Guess it’s a “gen’erational” thing.

Huh?   February 20th, 2010 - 10:47 pm

“Subjectofussa” – Wow your angry positioning about the moral concerns of others is breathtaking in it’s narrow intellect (but certainly exceeded by your more narrow lack of creative adjectives). Let me follow your nuanced reasoning: If I have one has an opinion on any given topic; I have limited myself to thoughts or opinions of only that topic? Huh? Try to follow this thought (I will give you only one thought, so you may be able to follow). If a person voices an opinion on something, they (clearly people other than yourself) may still hold opinions or thoughts on other topics as well. Hope I didn’t lose you there. Also “moralfags” was brilliantly clever. I mean BRILLIANT! Keep ‘em coming – I am writing them down for future verbal sparring – I’ll be king of the one-word invective – able to slice men to shreds with brilliant tome.

Bill   February 21st, 2010 - 2:01 am

He s probably going to wear it while having sex. Oh come on,so would you. Chicks dig olympic champions, hes going to milk it.You should have known that.
