This is mild in comparison to the depictions of George W. Bush from the democrat left in this country. Democrats see everything throught the eyes of race. Just look at their own party. Every thing with Obama and Clinton is about race. It was democrats who created all of these government forms asking you to identify your race (check caucasian, african american, asian, etc.).
I’m going to make a trip over to Mulligans to by lunch for our office today as a “counter protest.”

Funny…no one thought that comparing GW Bush to the same fictional character was inappropriate. Silly monkey.

I was basically going to bring up the same thing Nick just did. The Press just can’t leave that race card alone.

Ditto, I always associated Curious George (which they didn’t mention his name, BTW) with W. But the tavern owner hit the nail on the head with, “they are huntin’ for a reason to be offended”. Unfortunately, that is the case.

If obamas smart he will wear one of those shirts and it will go away and he will look like a guy who can laugh at himself.

I agree with both previous posts, I hear all sorts of monkey/curious george references to Bush, now that the tag is going to their “savior” it’s offensive. These types are always on the lookout for anything that might offend them.

Also George Bush is known world wide for his lack of understanding or interest about world wide events or even local events hence the double entendre “Curious George”

Where can I get one! It’s hysterical, he DOES look like Curious George!

Wildly offensive yet hilarious. I would have gone with a Chicken and Watermelon motif though.
That hillbilly’s whole aesthetic is equally hilarious.

@libsukbad – by implication of your statement, then I’m to take that Republicans consider George W. Bush as their “Saviorâ€! Can’t…type…laugh…too..hard!!!!!
By definition, conservatives need no savior other than Jesus Christ, we don’t need political saviors like libs do, we think quite well independently of prompters or cue cards, only liberals need messiahs in power. Sorry for omitting that, I forgot who we’re sharing this post with.
As far as the shirt is concerned, focus on the ears, you know, those two wing-like flaps on either side of the head, which is…oh, never mind, figure it out.

Democrat Travis Childers defeated Republican Greg Davis by a 54% to 46% margin last night…
Childers’ win gave Democrats a 236-199 edge over Republicans in Congress…
Heck of a job republicons…
Please do some homework, check their opinions on issues, it turns out the democrat Childers is MORE CONSERVATIVE than the republican he defeated.
If dems aren’t careful, they will wind up with more conservatives in their ranks than ever before, kind of like the RINO effect we’ve been dealing with for a while now. Just think, while you are busy laughing at RINOs, your party will expand by the elections of quietly pro-life, pro-gun, pro-borders democrats. Don’t just take my word for it, look it up, there are just as many dem voters that have had it with moveon running the party and are voting to put a stop to it. Here come the DINOs!!!!.

George Bush has been compared to a chimp for the entirety of his administration. Where were all those righteously indignant protesters for the last 7 years?

In a way, it is kind of sad that race has been thrown into mix this election year. On the other hand, the T-shirts will become collector’s items and people will be looking for them on Ebay after the election. Hmm, I wonder if Chris Matthews will get offended if he finds out the tavern owner mocked his god. Well, the only way to find out is to watch his show Softball er…Hardball with Chris Matthews. Oh, wait, I don’t get MSNBC on my cable subscription. Darn

Nick and Dev, Thats because there is no history in the South or anywhere else for that matter of depicting a white American as a monkey. Unfortunately there is to much history for depicting blacks as monkeys. In the same way that Asians (especially Chinese) have been depicted as smiling buckteeth squintey eyed rats. Pick your race or religion and there is a caricature out there for you. It is obviously meant to be offensive. Sometimes we are too politically correct for our own good. Assigning innocent excuses for what is patently meant to be offensive.

Whew! that was a good laugh. Now, the Curious George use in connection with Bush is obvious b/c Bush’s first name is George among other things.
So what is the connection between Obama and Curious George? In pondering that question, I’d think that even dullest person on this board could figure out the racial implications. I could be wrong but I doubt it.

I just want the black and white “americans” to quit the bickering. The Hispanics are taking over America, and all we can do is argue. Folks, we are losing our nation by the second. Whites and blacks need to unite, kick the immigrants out, and start taking back America.
Peace to all “real” Americans

@libsukbad – Oh, that’s right I forgot that Conservatives have a monopoly on Jesus, oh except for the Republican Jews.
As a famous author, recently deceased, once noted – “Were Jesus to return today, he would be shot for being to damn liberal.”
Let me get this correct. Obama goes to a church that teaches white people created aids to kill blacks, and libs have no problem with that. A tee-shirt with a chimp on it gets the libs all upset though.
Libs are truly sick and twisted individuals.
PolitiPMay 14th, 2008 - 7:56 pm
@EatItLibs – explain to me why the same sense of decency that makes you shudder at the Rev Wright comments gives you no pause with the equating of Obama to a monkey on a t-shirt? Or is it that you just enjoy a good N*gg*r joke every now and again?
There probably are a few people who honestly believe that the Tshirt is not offensive and was not meant to be. But the rest of us wouldn’t let those people try to walk through a revolving door in front of us.

Of course people are going to see this as a racist shirt. How can you expect them not to?

In regards to the T-shirts causing all the controversy, the character is not Curious George, although there may be simularities. I made the shirts and there was no racial maliciousness intended. It is a humourous comparion of Obama to a cute animal. Whay is it that George Bush can get compared to Alfred E. Newman, as well as a monkey, in the past and it pass by everyone as funny, but noe, since it a Afro-American, oh no, it is racial. I have to say, I find it reprehensible that people have to continously cause this kind of uproar over things. It is ok for every comedian and cartoonist as well as talkshow host in the country to make fun of a white man in every shape form and fashion, but let someone stop and compare the likeness of a person and a cute little monkey, it is all out overnight war. Well, this is my opinion, and as the person who made the shirts, I had no intention to have him mistaken for curious George, and there was no idea that people would cause such a outrageous controversy over them. So any way, I feel that the protest and upset people have to move on and find something else to be upset about because 100,000 people have died recently in one place, at one time in this world, and I think they can find a lot better things to waste their energy on. Thanks for your time, shirtdude@live.com
First off, where does it implicate that the monkey is Obama? The people and whoever else made that connection on their own.
Put the monkey on a cross and we’d have a doozy going on. have have him reading a copy of ‘The Satanic Verses”….and than eat pork and cheese and drive to temple, not walk. only the offensive get offended.
Oh yeah, in case you weren’t told, this election has nothing to do with race…just don’t pay attention the the # or the man behind the curtain like in the Wizard of Oz.
This is help Obama more than hurting him.I didn’t see him or his people down there protesting too…..nooooo way and lose the white vote! He ain’t stupid, let the people and reverends who cant pronounce words correctly do it for him….so silly.
I’d love to have a beer in that guys place, i thought the ears and the hair were hysterical. I do love them sparklers and pin wheel things to. especially the ones that light up if you blow real hard.
Wow, if this is getting a news blip, wait till the shirts come from

In regards to these shirts, no one is more offended when a racist gesture or comment is made than I am. I am a close friend with the creator of these shirts, and while at first the shirts seemed somewhat inappropriate to me. I also know Kelly, and I know his heart. He would never want anyone stereotyped or treated unfairly for any reason. Depictions are made all the time of court trials, of politicians, and actors. I think that he meant this all in good fun, and would never in any way condone anyone using these shirts in a racist way.
