On the same day that St. Louis Cardinals manager Tony La Russa pleaded guilty to DUI in Florida, dash cam video of the March incident has been released. Police say they found him asleep in his running SUV, and he smelled of alcohol.

Hey Tony you elitist moron ever think you could have killed someone driving around drunk? Thought you were above the law Mr Sports Celebrity? Hope they throw the book at you hotshot. What’s that oh your sorry for your actions? I think your lying, the only thing your sorry about is getting caught. Your such a great example for todays youth, just like your steroid shooting buffon of a buddy McGuire. Next time I see you being interviewed with that serious arogant mug of yours myself and many more will only remember Mr High and Mighty stammering while trying to recite the alphabet while tripping over his own feet.

La Russa owned up to it. He said he was guilty and could not defend what he did. That takes guts in this day and age where everybody wants to blame their failures on their second grade teacher and eveybody but themselves. Tony, I salute your honesty brother.

Tell me, what is the sense in putting this video out 8 plus month after the even occurred. It can only be to distroy is name. He has already paid his penalty and apologized.

Now, you coments please. Why do you bring this back up now?

Dude was hammered drunk – wow!!!

To acquire a conviction the prosecuter will have to prove that Tony can recite his ABCs while sober. This is a task that most baseball professionals would have trouble with.

st3v3   November 29th, 2007 - 5:19 pm

Tony took bad legal advice by copping this plea. I think he would have similar difficulty reciting his ABCs stone cold sober.

lonewolf: we now know why you are (a)lone

[...] Baseball manager Tony LaRussa is a great baseball manager… too bad he’s not quite as skilled at roadside sobriety tests!  [...]

lonewolf — Attitudes like yours are destroying America. Self-serving, judgemental thinking is taking us back to the days of the Scarlet Letter. Karma is going to catch up with those who continue judging other people with the authority that only the universe’s maker has. Let ye who has no sin cast the first stone.

Modd Tymer   November 29th, 2007 - 6:03 pm

it was totally unnecessary to release this video.
do we really need/want to watch this embarrassing moment in Larussa’s life? whats the point of releasing it to the public?
it’s a good thing dashcams weren’t around in the days of The Babe and Ty Cobb…

I cannot believe this video even made it to the net … anyone that watches it should be ashamed ….

we as a society have sunk SO low

josai   November 29th, 2007 - 6:33 pm

While I do applaud him for owning up to his mistake, I’ll hammer him the next time he gets on his sanctimonious high horse peta b.s.

Jo   November 29th, 2007 - 6:35 pm

Come on…what the heck are you guys thinking, the guy was drunk at the wheel…you think it’s being judgemental to call his actions dumb? It was completely dumb…how does one get off protecting such actions anyways. Lonewolf is not self-serving, he’s just trying to call the actions the way they are: DUMB! That’s exactly what ‘Karma’ has done…judged Lonewolf’s opinion. Good one Karma Chameleon!

Lonewolf   November 29th, 2007 - 6:35 pm

Very nice Karma and what are you doing by making your statement? Judging perhaps? Attitudes you say? Here is a reality check attitudes like Tipsy Tony have gotten people killed. Karma go back to your bong and perfumed candles, and don’t forget to humm.

Lonewolf   November 29th, 2007 - 7:09 pm

Jo thanks for the support.

These same folks giving Tony a pass here are just doing it because of his celebrity status. I know and they know if this was just an average everyday Joe drunk on a police cam stammering through the alphabet while hardly able to stand they would be hammering him. But because LaRussa is who he is they are willing to go to bat for him if anyone comments truthfully on this pathetic incident. Phillyfan I am far from lonely. The tag Lonewolf simply implies I not a member of a herd of sheep following the Political Correct mentality. I will speak my opinion even if it offends the sheeple in the herd.

Lonewolf, if you don’t already have a daily blog or website, would you consider establishing one with daily updates and suggestions so we can all check it before we leave the house in the morning, so as to not do anything wrong?

samson3   November 29th, 2007 - 11:00 pm

No one is defending LaRussa’s behavior I believe they are suggesting that Lonewolfs holier-than-thou ramblings are just a moronic and elitist as he says LaRussa’s behavior is. I am sure that he is perfect… although that fact that he felt compelled to respond to what appeared to be a joke from Phillyfan does speak volumes. Get a life…
