Articulate response.

smcacc   April 29th, 2008 - 12:45 pm

Could not have said it better. Why can’t the majority of Americans realize this?

Lee   April 29th, 2008 - 12:51 pm

This guy needs some serious help, and consequently, so do we. God help us.

formula1   April 29th, 2008 - 1:12 pm

America needs to stand and hear her President. I believe in Bush. I have since September 11, 2001, When I watched him walk openly and righteously angry across the White House lawn knowing that his America had been molested and beaten and lay broken-hearted. And here 7 years later he still defends his war; our war; because he knows that you must kill the wolf, even if the wolf falls you must kill him, or he will get up eventually, and with blood-lust, kill you and your children.

So here are America, the wolves are many, so should we lay down our arms and hope that if we play nice they will tuck their tails and run the other way?

President Bush, I don’t know all the politics that occur behind closed doors, but I do know that they attacked us and killed our mothers, our grandmothers, our sons and daughters, our brothers and sisters, our aunts and uncles and fathers and grandfathers and unborn babies, suddenly, cruelly, and indiscriminately. They did not call on our warriors in an honourable battle, they attacked us; our children; at home. You knew not to lay down and pretend at peace-talks with an enemy that fights without honour. You knew we needed to go their den and fire them out. It has been long hunting and much death. I give my heartfelt thanks to our warriors who answered the call with integrity and courage.

I’m done. Now let’s talk about the Gas Barons….President Bush, capitalism, I understand, but there must be relief from our crippling need of crude oil. Inflation is one thing, but that the Barons have made ridiculous record profits these past several years doen’t make sense. That’s not inflation to meet demand, that inflation to make obscene profits, which is all-together different and criminal.

Rodd   April 29th, 2008 - 1:47 pm

Lee,

History will show who is right. Someone once said, “All it takes for evil to thrive is for good men to do nothing.” Our enemy is evil incarnate, and this battle will define America’s future.

Terry   April 29th, 2008 - 1:54 pm

This was one of the best press conference President Bush has given.

D   April 29th, 2008 - 1:56 pm

Too many blue bloods (Press Included)….our fault only (The People)

Usaq Madik   April 29th, 2008 - 2:15 pm

Did that answer your question you “journalist” bozo?

Presidential smackdown.

Bob   April 29th, 2008 - 2:20 pm

Good job, Mr. President! You may not be popular now but you will be in about 10 years, just like Harry Truman.

ABC is a joke   April 29th, 2008 - 2:26 pm

Libs think terrorism is a myth.

Brian   April 29th, 2008 - 2:27 pm

As someone that has dogged the presidet for years, I must say that it is nice to see his belief. A good leader leads by his heart, not popular vote.

I will be interested to see his legacy portrayed in the years to come.

Frank   April 29th, 2008 - 2:37 pm

True words, spoken from a strong belief that this evil must be confronted. If we had a few more like Bush and fewer opologists for these terrorists, the war in Irag and Afganistan would be over.

Look at Europe, they are weak in confronting their problems – it wil not go away.

Good for you, George.

BubbaGump   April 29th, 2008 - 2:37 pm

President Bush will be remembered as one of our greatest presidents that was willing to take a stand. how many times did Alqaeda hit us under Clinton and he did basicaly nothing. Bush has the balls to do something and truthfully this was Clintons mess and unfinished business. This speech was right on. F*$ck the Clinton’s worthless leaders all hail George Bush II

Kevin   April 29th, 2008 - 2:38 pm

This is the best response I’ve ever heard from President Bush. Amen brother!

C   April 29th, 2008 - 2:39 pm

Congrats to the President for his response! It’s too bad that the left-leaning mainstream press will (purposely) fail to pick up on any of this.
Formula 1 has hit it on the head.

Rudex   April 29th, 2008 - 2:45 pm

Articulate response? We’re talking about a nation’s leader, not a black sportsman.

newshound1   April 29th, 2008 - 2:46 pm

What kind of bizzare world do you people live in. Do you not read anything but what you see here? God forgive us all.

John   April 29th, 2008 - 2:47 pm

It’s about time he stands up for himself forcefully.

This president is a failure not because his policies are wrong, but because he has been unable since his re-election to convince the country that his policies are right.

It’s not just the president’s job to make the right decisions, which Bush has, it is also the president’s job to rally the country around those decisions, especially in a time of war. On the second part, unfortunately, he has failed.

Joe   April 29th, 2008 - 2:51 pm

When I hear Bush deny that he ever said (about the Constitution) “it’s just a godddamned piece of paper” (when he was meeting resistance to the Patriot Act) then I’ll reconsider my position on him.
Because if he indeed said that, then he is anti-American on a level even higher than who we are fighting over seas.

Craigboo   April 29th, 2008 - 2:55 pm

All Hail Hitler…..oh, I mean Bush.

Both were strong leaders – one fooled MANY people, but the latest one only fooled a few – those who are either complete fools or somehow make money from the government or war.

Saintkeeper   April 29th, 2008 - 2:57 pm

You go Bush!!! Mr. President should have given that little speech a long time ago!!!
GO Pres. Bush!!

Lee, don’t like it here, go to Iraq, Iran, Europe, anywhere, we don’t need people who believe that we should just appease the terrorist!

I’m with you BubbaGump!!!

Brandon   April 29th, 2008 - 3:07 pm

I was pleasantly surprised so see a video of president Bush speaking both passionately and articulately. The press corp likes to portray president Bush as an inarticulate buffoon however this video disproves that.

The reporter will go back home and write a long essay about how President Bush is a warmongering, lying redneck and will next year be given a Pulitzer Prize for courageous journalism.

I often wish there was a way to call up Al Quaeda and say “So and so is a big fan of yours and would love to come join you in Iraq here’s their address go pick em up!”

Mack   April 29th, 2008 - 3:14 pm

the president does an excellent job presenting his position on the war and the savages we are facing. The shallow press seems to be finally on the losing end of the stick.

Bruce   April 29th, 2008 - 3:22 pm

Finally, I wish he could have maintained this demeanor over the last couple of years, though it is hard to get this fired up all the time.

It astonishes me that most people have forgotten what 9/11 felt like and what it did to our country.

FYI people, if Al-Qaeda had the opportunity, the would think nothing of detonating a backpack nuke in NY, DC or LA. Unfortunately, some people still think we can communicate with these people.

Dacker   April 29th, 2008 - 3:23 pm

Here’s a plan for ending the war:

Anyone who voted for Bush twice:
Give them a rifle and send them over to finish their war.

Anyone planning on voting for McCain:
Bring your own darned rifle.

Alex   April 29th, 2008 - 3:28 pm

I don’t know who this reporter was but I am glad she got him fired up. THIS is what he SHOULD have been doing five years ago. STAY fired up. THIS is what I want in a President…emotional, passionate, and FIRED UP!!!If he had been this angry and passionate all along, he might be more believable.

T Nick   April 29th, 2008 - 3:30 pm

Dacker:

You’re right. To fight a war, one must have a rifle, leadership and courage.

I bet it’s hard for you to win any fight using only your pussy.

JLF   April 29th, 2008 - 3:31 pm

Good job President Bush. Anybody who thinks this is somekind of a verbal game and that “reporters” don’t have a personal agenda ought to watch this again. This left winger really got put int her place today.

Gabe   April 29th, 2008 - 3:31 pm

Brandon,
If you want to call Al Quada… call the CIA Bushes dad was running the joint when they created Osama Bin Laden and his daddy and Bushes daddy have been doing buisness together for 30 years. Rumsfeld and Bush 1 gave Sadam his weapons and kept him in power. Bush is destroying our country with his socialist/military worshiping state expanding propaganda war.

He is a self admitted socialist Rockefeller republican. Do yuo know who David Rcokefller is? do you kow how socilaist they are and how much they hate low taxes, a prosperous middle class and a sovereign USA?

Kristin   April 29th, 2008 - 3:35 pm

GO W!! I VOTED FOR HIM TWICE AND WOULD VOTE FOR HIM AGAIN IF I COULD!! HEAVEN HELP OUR COUNTRY IF OBAMA OR HILLARY GET IN THE WHITE HOUSE….

Bobo   April 29th, 2008 - 4:00 pm

Craigboo and Gabe – You’re retards.

Dennis in Ohio   April 29th, 2008 - 4:02 pm

Great press conference. Most of the press are slackers for the lib networks they work for and embarress themselves with their stupid questions. We are in a WAR, a battle that will last decades, not a couple more years, against tens of millions of lunatics who will not rest until either they, or we, lie dead. I just wonder when most of the civilized world will finally wake up to this danger? From the comments of many, they just don’t seem to get it and probably won’t until Obama sells the farm, and them along with it!! When we will really need strong leadership in the coming years, I am afraid all we’ll be hearing is a loud sucking sound. God help us all then.

tim   April 29th, 2008 - 4:07 pm

great response.this president needs to step up and speak up like this more.

I’m a lib. Don’t care for President Bush either.

Nor do I like the Iraq war.

But, if we’re going to be over there, why are we doing it piecemeal? The way we’re doing it right now is ridiculous. We’ll never win like this. If he wants to win, a “surge” isn’t going to do it. Full out occupation, a million or more military personnel. Flood both Iraq and Afganistan with troops.

Come on, how can a patrol here and there make a difference? Other than for that area the patrol is in? Canvas those countries. If one of their citizens looks out a window, whether they’re in a city or in the countryside, they should see American military.

Take over the Iraqi Oil, they’re selling it, but the money sure as heck isn’t being used to rebuild their country. For that matter, does anyone know where that money is?

The Iraq war isn’t working because he’s trying not to ruffle feathers by sending a TON of troops over there. Well, he’s ruffling feathers anyway, so just get it DONE.

syn   April 29th, 2008 - 5:46 pm

Thank you President Bush.

We will not falter, we will not fail.

Sigmond   April 29th, 2008 - 6:15 pm

Bush has been a strong determined leader in spite of having to fight a war on three fronts – Al Queda, the Taliban, and left wing imbeciles.

Soldado Americano   April 29th, 2008 - 7:18 pm

Dacker,

Voted for him. And went to Iraq, Three times.

Got my own Rifle(s)(and pistols) and will vote for Mcain

If either of the other two Bozos make it I resign from service.

Roger   April 29th, 2008 - 8:02 pm

While this traitor waged a war for Israel, the Military-Industrial Complex, and the oil companies, he has allowed a literal invasion from Mexico into the US.

Roger   April 29th, 2008 - 8:04 pm

Soldado Americano April 29th, 2008 – 7:18 pm

“Got my own Rifle(s)(and pistols) and will vote for Mcain.”

McCain got an F- rating from the Gun Owners of America! You won’t have those rifles long and you will have a knife…stuck in your back by McCain.

THOR   April 29th, 2008 - 8:12 pm

Formula1… the wolves that reside in America include Leftist Liberals. Genuinely patriotic Americans need to lay waste not only to Snaggle toothed, dishrag wearing jihadists… but also to drug taking, anus poking Liberals who would love to see the downfall of America as much as Iran, Russia and China would!

Christian   April 29th, 2008 - 8:13 pm

It’s amazing how low the standard has become for an impressive Presidential speech.

Articulate. He pronounced all his words correctly.

Andy is right — this is the worst of both worlds. We can’t easily back out, and we’ll never win.

I guess we’ll just have to keep fighting for our freedom to shop.

hcallaway   April 29th, 2008 - 8:34 pm

That is President Bush at his best. I wish he had been more firm with reporters in the past. If he had called Congress to task with the out of control spending, the Republicans would be in a better position now, especially Senator Stevens(?) Alaska’s Bridge to Nowhere!!! If he had been reminded that it is our money he is spending and not his little pet get reelected project, it would have shown Americans that sometimes you call a spade a spade and it is the truth. I finally can give Bush an AAA++++ for this event!!!

Kevin   April 29th, 2008 - 8:37 pm

She was pwned!

jukin   April 29th, 2008 - 8:38 pm

Good for Bush.

All the MSM and leftists will be pushing for anything other than his message of developing our own oil and energy resources.

IIRC Pelosi said stopping our strategic reserve (under 70,000 barrels) would lower the price of gas 25 cents. What would happen if we brought on line a million barrels from ANWR?

Now for our environmentals, the comparative sizes of drilling in ANWR to a football field would be about the size of a first class stamp. Now what side is against any and all compromise?

Dave   April 29th, 2008 - 9:05 pm

Despite the green tie, he was masterful–none of which the media will report.

jakelajett   April 29th, 2008 - 10:36 pm

This all began when George decided not to do the 12 step program. George is a dry drunk, there is no doubt about that. Large amounts of alcohol have left us with a brain damaged president. He has been
enabled by many people including his family who did not intervene to protect him from himself. George’s
unresolved anger has manifested itself in executions
in Texas and revenge on Saddam. His wife is the typical person that an alcoholic would seek out. He
has only sycophants that are still with him. Those that disagreed with him are long gone. George has many personal fears that he has never addressed. George needs help which i hope he gets
after he leaves office. we tend to want to deify those who are in positions of power but the truth and sometimes the sadness is that these people are
failures as humans go and because we want to believe so badly, that we do believe badly. In my
heart there are still wonderful moments ahead for this country that i love. I wish you and i a peaceful transition to the next administration. The only thing we have to fear is?

umero numo   April 30th, 2008 - 2:36 am

jakelajett, isn’t it past your bedtime?

run along now.

Andrew   April 30th, 2008 - 3:44 am

Does America ever EXPECT to win a war of foreign occupation? Naive to think so… didn’t work in Vietnam, where it was also a foreign invasion over interests of global occupation. That war had nothing to do with the concerns of the American government over the welfare of those in South Vietnam, a caring aid to those in need… this is – once again – a war where it has been determined again and again that the basic premise over WMD’s was false. Now it’s become an ideological war over belief. Right vs wrong. BUt whom is America to impose this on the Iraqi’s and the Afghanistani’s? How do you expect to win respect and convey ideals through war? No wonder this war doesn’t stand a chance in hell of ending any time soon: when natives of a country are faced with an oppressor, the incredible support from a pure grass-roots level with continue. Why are some strapping bombs to themselves? I’m not of the opinion that they’re all nuts as Bush puts it, but rather their extreme belief in their own liberation. They don’t hide behind air-strikes. If you have that level of commitment to a cause, surely that should say something to those invading othar than deem them ‘nuts’? Let’s look at the issue of ‘a-symmetrical’ warfare (innocent people being killed)… thousands of Iraqi’s – innocent men, women and children have been murdered in the name of this cause but that’s not seen as ‘a-symmetrical’ in any way? Thousands detained, tortured and many killed in detention camps / centres such as those in Guantanamo Bay? This war is in America’s interests and it impacts directly on the welfare of America’s economy and all of those living within it’s borders. Control oil and dominate various regions within the globe and it ensures massive benefits, ensuring the Superpower retains its title. There has been a massive imbalance in the quality of living for many decades for those across the globe, with American’s reaping the benefits of many a foreign interest. Naturally this also serves to spur uprisings against its involvement. I’m amazed to see the level of ignorance shown in the comments regarding this clip. We’re getting no-where. This war will continue and – with war never achieving a positive outcome – there is much more likelihood of ‘terrorist’ attacks on your soil… not less.

Andrew   April 30th, 2008 - 3:54 am

Some interesting viewing for those uninformed (due to comments there are many out there)… if you are so opinionated about your stance, why not get off your butts and make the effort to watch these: ‘Road to Habitha’, ‘Taxi to the Darkside’, ‘No End in Sight’, John Pilger: ‘Breaking the Silence: Truth and Lies in the War on Terror’, and (fortunately) many more… but these will give you a good idea of the injustices all in the name of ‘democracy’ and ‘freedom’. Or you can wait for the forthcoming Iron Man movie and really feed your brains.

twan   April 30th, 2008 - 6:04 am

The whole world wants to get rid of this american idiot .. but the americans chose him .. says more about america than Bush. Obviously lots of Americans love this agressiv anti-democrat that even can’t talk to journalists that don’t agree. Where’s the freedom of speech ???? Maybe just for for them agreeing ??

Still Waiting for the Clue Bus   April 30th, 2008 - 6:13 am

Mommy? What’s “Habitha”?

The Truthiness is Out There, Andrew. Courage, mon ami.

R4M0N   April 30th, 2008 - 9:29 am

Where has this passion been all along? Had 50% of his press conferences been like this, we would be much better off since the media wouldn’t have danced around him having a field day with their agenda.

AnonymousMax   April 30th, 2008 - 4:12 pm
