LA Times: Did Obama Give Hillary The Finger?

LA Times: He doesn't use his whole hand though. Just one finger. Briefly. A couple of strokes.

Eventually America will come to see the REAL Obama. Here he is, in all his glory. His snob attitude towards anyone and everyone who opposes him is evident for all the world to see!!!

Double   April 18th, 2008 - 4:14 pm

Was he giving the middle finger, probably not. Is he starting to break… yes.

Beverly AW   April 18th, 2008 - 4:14 pm

Why give her the finger now at this stage of the game? I’d wait until I’m in the White House and then I’d give Hillary, Bill, James Carville, Sean Hannity, Bill O’Reilly, Bill Kristol, Nash McCabe, George Stephanopolous, Charlie Gibson, David Brooks, the NY Times, Fox News and the like the whole friggin hand and say F-off! Don’t hate the player, hate the game! Thanks for helping elect me with your inane rantings and ravings. Clowns!

Walt is Nuts   April 18th, 2008 - 4:57 pm

Walt,
Get off it. Obama is a class act. He did not flip off anyone. What we have here is just more media driven garbage. I find it to be really funny how the media freaks out over Rev. Wright, when they give McCain a pass on John Hagee when Hagee defined the Roman Catholic Church a”theology of hate.” and call them “The Great Whore,” an “apostate church,” the “anti-Christ,” and a “false cult system.”

The truth of the matter is that white america can relate to the Hagee’s of the US, because a lot of us grew up with this sort of drivel and hate.

Walt, if you think he is the most deceitful person you have ever followed in politics you need to go back and do some more studying up.

Seriously.

if   April 18th, 2008 - 5:24 pm

Obama bowled a 37 for 10 frames.

Billy   April 18th, 2008 - 5:39 pm

I can’t believe that St. Barack (bow your heads please) would use an obscene gesture. In fact I have it in good faith that even his you know what doesn’t smell. The man is just too good for this terrible country. In fact lets send him and his devoted followers to some blighted third world country where he could work his magic for all those blessed belivers in his overwhelming goodness.

Progressive?   April 18th, 2008 - 5:41 pm

Also, if you’re going to attack someone’s intelligence, proof-read your work. Your second sentence should have a question mark – because it’s a question. Also “makes ends me good enough” is not exactly proper english. However, I’m probably being rather harsh, considering that English is probably a second language for you (hopefully).

And yes, I realize this was an ad hominem attack, but I just couldn’t help it. I mean, who would insult someone’s intelligence while demonstrating their own inability to use proper english?

Rukidding   April 18th, 2008 - 5:50 pm

He scratched his face, he gave no one the finger…

Yeah, a presidential candidate – flipping off another candidate….sure thing…

This is what the PRESS talks about – How about addressing the real issues facing our nation. We are at war, we are in an economic recession, people across America are losing their homes, yet YOU talk about Obama and gestures he make?

The sad thing abut this is that many Americans will see the PRESS coverage of this and BELIEVE he actually did give old Hillary the finger…and then write comments on boards like these how despicable he is.

GIVE ME A BREAK!

Lamarr01   April 18th, 2008 - 5:55 pm

How many of you blogbots are on Hillary’s payroll?

Many of the first blogs sound like they were taken from a “talking points” email.

Hillinator   April 18th, 2008 - 6:05 pm

It is obvious in the video that he did it intentionally.he pauses when the crowd notices what he is doing and chuckles about it later. He has shown as have his supporters what a bunch of elitist ,morally bankrupt group they really are.The abc team asks some questions that need and should be answered and his whole group has a tizzy fit and melts down like a spoiled little kid not getting his way.It really seems as though the far,and I mean far left has total gone over the deep end.Everytime you ask this man a question that they don’t like answered, especially since he has to hide his true intentions from us,they want those people fired. The notion of tolerance and acceptance of a different point of view is not any part of their political belief any longer.that is what happens when you are filled with hatred and basically run your existence thru a moral and intellectual vacuum. There is no doubt Hillary has some basic honesty issues ,but this man couldn’t tell us the truth if his life depended on it.just look at the answer he gave about taxes and the capital gains rate.Even Bill Clinton and JFK knew that was the way to increase tax revenue and pay for their social programs. But Obamas idea isn’t about that,as he made perfectly clear,it is about income redistribution and giving to the lazy amd worthless what everyone else has worked so hard for.I will support Hillary up to the end and when or if she loses I will walk away and probably not return to the party .It has gone from working class help to Hate everything and name call everyone who disagrees. My God,even McCain looks better than this guy.You must really have some serious hate issues deep inside if you think for one minute he can bring this nation together with the way he whines and complains about such matters.Hillary or McCain for me,preferrably her ,but either way ,it will never be him or anything associated with the type of following he has built.

Baltazar Flotard   April 18th, 2008 - 6:32 pm

With each passing week, the more we get to know Obama. The better we get to know him, the more we like John McCain. Keep it up, Barack. Keep on throwing your grandmother under a bus while refusing to outright condemn Jeremiah Wright. Keep on giving yourself and your core supporters a thrill by covertly flipping off another white woman. This is getting better all the time.

It’s laughable how the Democrats are literally handing the Presidency to the Republicans for another 8 years on a silver platter. Keep up the great work. Take it all the way to the convention, Hillary! Don’t let that idiot Dean tell you what to do, superdelegates! Hold onto your delegates like grim death. It’s the only real political power that the Dems will be able to enjoy for a very, very long time.

411 ON OBAMA…

Liberal ‘Chi-Town’ investigative reporter has the 411 on Obama

Obama’s riding dirtyyyy…

Bill   April 18th, 2008 - 7:02 pm

He is a man of the street, he was not going to take it from that Hoe!

Lafn Bacstage   April 18th, 2008 - 7:02 pm

See what you want to see.

The Obama haters are looking for any excuse to bolster their falsehoods of Obama.

I saw a guy scratching his face. 30 seconds before, he was scratching the other side of his face.

Go on, get real. Obama haters, puff yourself up with more hot air. The more you inflate your egos, the greater the the noise. Pfffffft. Nothing more than the roar of Republican flatulence.

Just wait until you see him play basketball.

12oclockdemon   April 18th, 2008 - 7:19 pm

@Vietvet: the guy was cracking jokes and having a seemingly easy rapport with his audience…is that what you call cracking under pressure? The rightwingers are willing to go as low and can be. And given their history, who knows how low that is.

N. Cahgneeder   April 18th, 2008 - 7:23 pm

Black VietVet is so right. An armed society is a polite society. Nobody messes with you if you are armed. I mean, look at soldiers. Nobody would dare mess with them, they are armed to the teeth. That is why they survive. If you are not armed, the government can force you do do anything they want. Saddam tried to murder his own people. But each man and many of the women had guns. Okay, so it worked that time, but that was different because Saddam was a brutal dictator and they were just Iraqis. We’re different, we’re Americans.

Bobo   April 18th, 2008 - 9:08 pm

Beverly AW, here’s a finger for you.

Lafn Bacstage   April 18th, 2008 - 11:04 pm

To David of April 19 @ 2:56 AM

Right On!

Come back with your retorts now, you frick’n Republican (deep breadth, polite thoughts)…Obama haters. Sure, throw insults and personal attacks, I bet you can’t argue the points David put forward.

The democratic primary process will soon come to a close. The metal will be tested. Your hatred for Obama can not matched the passions voters have for Obama. The tide for change will swell and engulf you. You are truly afraid. That’s why you lash out.

Tulok   April 18th, 2008 - 11:41 pm

This story is friggin’ ridiculous. He’s got two fingers extended for one thing and talk about jumping to conclusions.

In any event, better to give a rival the finger than to call your wife a trollop and a c****.

Beverly AW   April 19th, 2008 - 12:13 am

Dear Bobby Allcomefree, you are probably from the south and aren’t very progressive especially if that’s all you associate with black people. How ignorant are you. How many teeth do you have in your mouth? One in the front and one in the back on both sides? Did you even finish high school? Probably not, but that’s okay because your factory job makes ends me good enough for you and your fat wife with her enormous belly! Your children Jim Bob, Shane and Billy Joe are your only hope for a future and with all likelyhood they won’t graduate either. So continue to pass on the ignorance, ya hear??????

Bosco45   April 19th, 2008 - 12:15 am

This is an example of what socialist democrats bring to the leadership of a once moral nation. Over the past 50 years, we have sat back and allowed the cancer of liberalism to infect of nation, and the results are what we are witnessing today. Unskilled, unqualified, morally bankrupt loud mouths leading a group of young, government(lesbian) educated malcontents that have been trained to ask what their country can do for them, not what can they do for the country.
If I am not mistaken, Martin Luther King Jr. said that one day, a man will be judged by the content of his character, not the color of his skin. The young, easily influenced ‘boxer or briefs’ generation his witnessed quite the opposite of these profound words. And this is all because of elitist, Marxist, hate mongers, one of which is shown here.
God Bless what ever is left of America after the socialists destroy it from within.

ronski   April 19th, 2008 - 12:19 am

i’m a republican – the man was scratching his cheek. WTF is wrong with these simpleton “journos”. have they all gone collectively nutso, or are they just scratching the bottom of the garbage can for a byte?

ronski   April 19th, 2008 - 12:22 am

Beverly AW – you seem to have a LOT of hate bottled up inside; typical liberal. Suggestion: get over your precious self.

neil   April 19th, 2008 - 12:31 am

OF COURSE HE DID, DIDN’T YOU HEAR THE CROWD’S REACTION AND THE STUPID SMILE THAT CREPT ACROSS HIS FACE?

WHY DON’T YOU OBAMAMANICS READ UP ON BILLY AYRES AND SEE WHAT THIS SCUM BAG DID! WIKIPEDIA HAS IT ALL. IF YOU CAN READ. YOU WILL SEE THE TERRORIST WAS INVOLVED IN BANK ROBBERY, BOMBING THE PENTAGON,CAPITOL AND EVEN AN ATTEMPT TO BOMB FT. DIX. I WAS STATIONED AT FT. DIX ABOUT THAT TIME!

SO, HERE’S A MIDDLE FINGER RIGHT BACK AT YOU!

Walt   April 19th, 2008 - 12:32 am

What a CREEP he is!

This guy is the most deceitful person I have ever followed in politics…he is dispicable and has no class whatsoever!

Is this guy seriously a Presidential candidate? The democrats are seriously damaged if this is representative of their party and what they represent.

Pathetic!

Anonymous Realist   April 19th, 2008 - 12:54 am

Thousands of people dead and wounded, an economy spiraling into disaster, the constitution in tatters, unprecedented debt, a collapse of our currency,

and *this* is what we want to talk about??

Then, I guess we’ll continue to get the democracy we deserve.

God help us.

JordanB   April 19th, 2008 - 1:20 am

Common…. the media is really grasping for straws now…

I cannot wait until this primary is over and we can focus on the election again.

Progressive?   April 19th, 2008 - 1:25 am

Beverly AW, are you a “progressive?” It seems odd that your progressive ideas rely upon stereotypes and appeal the the reader’s emotions and prejudices rather than logic (a logical fallacy known as an ad hominem). I thought that progressives tried to avoid those types of arguments and appeal to a higher sense of logic or science. Maybe you mean another type of progressive, as in elevating stupid arguments to a greater level of stupidity. Bravo!

Black VietVet   April 19th, 2008 - 1:43 am

This is a man who wants to be Commander-in-Chief and who refuses to wear the flag and standard for our country. You will not have the respect or trust of any soldier who wears the country’s uniform and who protect your freedom if you do not stand up for the people’s right to keep and bear arms as well. This right is an insurance against a government that would take up arms against its own people. Don’t you Liberals get it? The Nazi’s disarmed its Jewish citizens and look what happened when they were dehumanized and reclassed by the the elitists in the Third reich! I rest my case.

Melissa Hedwall   April 19th, 2008 - 2:15 am

That was deliberate. He paused a minute after and started laughing *after* he got a response from the audience. He then used a ramrod gesture (basically mimicing taking it “from behind”) when he said Hillary is trying to get every dig in she can.

Well, she should, its a presidential debate. It’s time to bring it all to the table.

Obama is an elitist that is now cracking under the pressure. I am sure we’ll continue to see his true colors. I just hope its not too late before the real election begins and we have to watch the democrats lose because we chose Obama who could easily be replaced by a log and no one would notice.

E390   April 19th, 2008 - 3:07 am

The issue is not (if he flipped off Hillary), he has proven by past words (words have meaning) that he is flipping off the “typical white person” and the heartland of America. Obama is all about Black Power. He said don’t judge me on something that somebody else did when I was 8 years old. Well STOP judging me, a typical white person, for slavery that happened before I was born. One must ask why oh why can we not ask this man questions without being called a racist.

SoCal Patriot   April 19th, 2008 - 3:34 am

http://rasmussenreports.com/public_content/politics/election_20082/2008_presidential_election/daily_presidential_tracking_poll

“The Rasmussen Reports daily Presidential Tracking Poll for Friday shows John McCain leading Barack Obama, 48% to 42%. The presumptive Republican nominee also leads Hillary Clinton 50% to 41%.”

“McCain attracts 85% of Republicans against Clinton, 82% against Obama, and leads both Democrats by double digits among unaffiliated voters.

McCain is viewed favorably by 56% and unfavorably by 41%. Obama’s ratings are 47% favorable and 51% unfavorable. For Clinton, those numbers are 43% favorable, 55% unfavorable”

Small Town Boy   April 19th, 2008 - 3:37 am

Not only is he giving Hillary the finger, he is fondling himself with the hand that is out of sight. If you magnify the picture 50x you can see his elbow move.

He and his supporters are all elitists. Snobs like him don’t even have the good manners to stick the finger straight up like us white small town, gun and God loving people do. No, he and his ilk just limply wiggle it a little bit, like they are too good to actually do it.

The racist MSM gives him a free pass but they were all over George Bush giving the finger to a teenage girl who asked him a stupid question. And he didn’t do it the sneaky elitist way, cuz he’s no elitist. ( See <h tt p://tinyurl. com / clm92 He got where he is through hard work, going to the school of hard knocks, serving in the Texas Air National Guard protecting our borders and working in the oil fields. Not like these elitists who want someone else to hand them everything

tim   April 19th, 2008 - 3:59 am

As a Brit following your primaries with great excitement and interest, I am dismayed at the triviality of it all. I thought the USA was going to set an example to the rest of us. This obsession with fingers and ‘bitter’ when the talk should be on the dollar and doctors. But hey. The MSM does not sell papers that way. I just thought in my naivety that this election would rise up. Oh. He is scratching his face. Watch Kevin Spacey on the Actors Studio; a real face dabber and scratcher. It’s habit.

“Republicans are no longer underdogs in the race for the White House. To pull that off, John McCain has attracted disgruntled GOP voters, independents and even some moderate Democrats who shunned his party last fall.”

atombomb   April 19th, 2008 - 10:36 am

how is this news. this is the kind of stuff that makes me hate news. someone seriously needs to start a new news company that shows actual news, instead of this nonsense

JordanB   April 19th, 2008 - 11:49 am

David. Your propositional debate questions for McCain are at the same time humorous and shocking.

These trivial gaffe’s that the media hyper-sensationalize only serve the interests of the media which craves to create buzz. Buzz then leads to ratings which then leads to more advertizing dollars.

It’s painful for me to see so many American’s get caught in a web of “soap-drama”.

It’s comforting, however, to know there are intelligent enough people out there who can decern the truth from fiction.

One thing eggs me though:

Are you proposed debate question to McCain retaliatory in nature, due to the recent media attention regarding (bosnia sniper fire, “bitter” rural americans, et cetera)

Or are you trying to make the distiction between what is trivia and what is TRULY disconcerting.

A. Skywatcher   April 19th, 2008 - 11:52 am

Just when we thought “silly season” in American politics couldnt stoop any lower. Aw heck, can we just go back to lapel pins, gun cuddling, flag fetishing and patriotic pastors?

Steve T   April 19th, 2008 - 1:49 pm

I’m so glad to see that the topics that have dominated this primary have raised our level of knowledge.
I bet Sen. Obama also uses his thumb occasionally. In fact, in one video I noticed him using his index finger. Oh no!!!!
If we don’t watch out he may use his pinky finger if he gets in the White House.
Is he wearing his wedding ring on the right hand?
I just have to know all of these things to make a wise decision this November.

JM   April 19th, 2008 - 2:49 pm

Look at all the righties scrambling to find something, no matter how ridiculous, to seize upon with Obama.

Have something to do with the fact that they made the mistake of choosing a doddering old, senile hypocrite, who’s confused by both the economy and Iraqi religious groups, as their nominee?

McCain is Dole all over again, folks. Say hello to President Obama.

sup   April 19th, 2008 - 4:15 pm

Yes he flipped Hillary and the crowd knew it, they knew exactly what he was doing. Typical classless behavior by a democrat. Obama and Hillary are two true idiots, who both aren’t fit to tie a real President’s shoes, and the kool-aid drinking dems just keep accepting their abominable behavior and lies. I never thought I’d see the democratic party become such a huge joke.

Lafn Bacstage   April 19th, 2008 - 8:38 pm

If Obama was giving the bird, then his hand has a shudder.

Here’s what it looks like when a presidential candidate really give the finger.

This is to good to believe Obama wants to be above all the pettiness but continues to act like a child pout pout pout man you dem’s sure can pick um but I guess since your core belief’s are moronic then your leader would be to. Tax the rich to feed the poor untill there are no rich no more. Then what?

distantobserver   April 20th, 2008 - 3:42 am

Wow, so this is a topic of discussion among, supposedly, educated Americans? Somebody making a normal unconscious gesture – we all do it all the time – not even remotely similar to anything obscene , and one gets the thing discussed in LA TImes!!! You know, from a distance, Americans do look just weird, no wonder Bush was reelected and the rest of the world have started to despise America (not hate, just despise). The bowling score – this is what a president needs to do well – bowl! (Basketball does not count, that’s a black thing?) The score is also seriously discussed in New York Times. And I have to teach American Studies and try to spin all this via respectable terms from Tocqueville: understandable anti-intellectualism, equality of respect … It does not help! When they watch Hillary raising the roof in a pub they are just EMBARRASSED. They cannot believe their eyes that this should be what a person has to do in America to get elected! And then people who are already almost homeless vote for McCain whose every single policy – avowed policy – will push the country – and possibly the world – into even a greater recession, quite possibly an equivalent of the Great Depression. We are going to suffer too, and we are helpless, when America is so dumbed down. Yes, hundreds of thousands of Americans apologised to the world when Bush was re-elected: a fat lot of good this did to any of us. And just as people -with the rise of Obama – started to believe in America’s greatness again (his race speech, fully on the level of JFK and Lincoln, I played the whole to my students and they were hushed in awe) – here come all these preposterous attacks. Never mind Bruce Springfield endorsed Obama, he is still not blue-collar enough! Sad, truly sad.

rlr   April 20th, 2008 - 3:50 am

Imagine, this man president of the United States. He demonstrated crude, gutter behavior.

Study the film. He clearly gave Hillary the finger. There’s nothing to laugh about in his few words before the finger. Then came the slow deliberate finger. Then a long pause with no words. During the pause is when the laughter occurs. This clearly shows the audience was reacting to his giving Hillary the finger. And then he indicated taking one up the backside.

I’m not writing as a fan of Hillary, which I am not. But this excerpt shows this man to not comport himself decently before even the public. Wright’s display and then this. One concludes that Raps may be on its way to the White House.

Jack Kennedy   April 21st, 2008 - 1:50 am

obama’s blackness is rising to the top. this is what will distinguish obama from jimmy carter, cuz all else will be indentical.
