‘Shout to the Lord’: ‘Idol Gives Back’ Ends with Praise Song

Last year, 'Idol Gives Back' raised $76 million for foreign and domestic charities. This year, they hope to top $100 million. Senators Hillary Rodham Clinton, Barack Obama and John McCain made taped appeals for charity for the special edition of “Idol” that didn’t make the cut but have been kicked back to Thursday night’s episode, the New York Times reports.

Beautiful song.

Beautiful Song, sung dispassionately. It came across to me as they were just mouthing the lyrics, with No Heart behind it.
But at least I see that they are getting away from all that Hip Hop Noise.

funny though they never mention Christ’s name which is the very beginning

Better than the usual stuff for sure. Thank you Idol. It is a beautiful song, but of course the actual words are,

“my Jesus my savior”

not the “my shepard my savior” that they sang.

And all the Christians said…Amen?
Wasn’t there someone MIA?
That was like someone saying, I’m going to cook you a good meal and finding that it all came from those the cans in the garbage, O.K without Jesus, who are they shouting to?
Who is the Lord?
Who is my savior?
Yep! Just like Christmas all over again or is that Ester?
Without Jesus in that song you’ve got NOTHING song
it sounds good but it’s not the truth.
What you don’t know can kill you…And now they want our music.

have been a big Idol fan, but now, I think I will boycott the show. If I don’t, what kind of example am I setting for my children? Its not lukewarm, it is wolves in sheeps clothing trying to dilute, devalue,re-direct focus, blasphemy……….Oprah kind of religion. I don’t think some of the contestants even thought about this…….? Its a free country,I know, but “Christ followers” must listen to the Holy Spirit when these events occur and know that this is not Christ Jesus that is beng praised. Its “whatever” God you believe in. I am very disappointed, but not surprised. If I was a Idol contestant and professed myself as a “Christ follower”, believe that Jesus is God and he is the only way to salvation through repentment, commitment, and belief……….I could have never sang the song the way they did.

I have to wonder what Darlene Zschech thought. I can’t believe that she would esteem watering down this awesome song into a politically correct ode to a unnamed God.

To American Idol’s credit, the remaining contestants sang the song again tonight and got the words right this time. They must have heard from enough of us who were rightly annoyed that they tried to pull a stunt like that.
